      That's how I got a lot of my Gamecube games cheap. I just bought the games I was interested in, had no desire, and still no desire to collect the entire console. I remember getting Skies of Arcadia for 10 dollars complete. And then seeing the price like 5 years later. lol

      Considering prices these days and what people try to get for things simply because they're from the GameCube now you really have to do your due diligence. People will try to take advantage if you let them. I'm not saying there aren't plenty of good people but there are enough of the people that sell things that have been used hard and have had no cleaning or anything done to them for maximum price. As a whole this community is good but you just have to be careful.

    A good alternative to an actual Gamecube is a Nintendo Wii with the Gamecube functionality if you want that experience. There are millions of Wii's out there that are still cheap. Thanks to Smash Brothers for Wii U and the Switch, getting legit new Gamecube controllers is not hard either. A recent visit to a used game store were selling Gamecubes for about $200. Wii U is going up in price, too.
    The Wii is wicked easy for soft modding thanks to the homebrew community. If it is within your ability to rip and back-up those game discs, then please do so. The emulators are also easier to use and are regularly updated.

    From selling on Amazon on the side for about 10 years now I can tell you the used, good description matches what you got on the need for speed game; it has the manual and the box and that’s what that description cares about.
    You have to look for very good or like new condition to get complete games that don’t have any imperfections. Used, acceptable will mean disc only.

    • @JohnDoe-wq5eu
      @JohnDoe-wq5eu 2 года назад +1

      Yeah you really need to do your due diligence when you're doing stuff like this. Prices don't even mean what they used to considering how quickly the GameCube has gone up in value along with games. Also in my humble opinion getting actual photos and or speaking directly to the seller if possible is definitely if not a must then a strong suggestion.

      Thanks for the insite on this, just ordered a "Used Good" "New" 3DS XL, hope it's in decent shape or only needs to mild cleaning up, so long as it works I'll be happy though since I wanted to make sure I got one under 300$ Canadian before the prices go mad.
      Planning to homebrew mod it so I can load all my old DS and 3DS cartridges to its memory, and of course enjoy all the other fun of homebrew, already done it to an "old" 3DS and figure it would be good to have a backup with the last best hardware of the 3DS line... and the bigger screen is nice too...

  • @buchiklop110
    @buchiklop110 2 года назад +17

    So, just to note, in most places, including eBay and I believe Amazon, "Good" is one of the lowest categories a seller can list something at. If something is listed as "Good," expect it to be damaged and/or weather beaten or something akin to that.
    The only lower category is "As is," and that is exclusively reserved for broken electronics and missing pieces (such as the case).

      A lot of places people can label it whatever they want unfortunately. In the past I bought a GameCube game (PN03) 10 years ago listed as "Very Good" on Amazon that arrived scratched up, with badly water damaged artwork/manual. When I said I disagreed with the condition and wanted to return it, they accepted but also recommended I buy "Like New" in the future (and they bumped it down to 'Good' when they relisted it). :|

    This turned out much better than I had anticipated. Having watched a few channels that sell on Amazon primarily, they're supposed to have pretty stringent guidelines, especially for FBA sellers, when it comes to condition. I'm pretty sure that's why their prices tend to be higher, plus the overhead for warehousing and such.
    And you're not kidding when it comes to gamecube becoming more expensive. I have a small business, repairing faulty systems, and sourcing even a decent condition broken gamecube costs about 50 bucks by itself. Luckily, they're easy to get into and usually easy to fix.
    Great video!

      Acceptable has to be one of the funniest terms companies use to describe used products. I guess they thought functional was a little too on the nose. But yeah if you're buying something on the low end expect it to basically be in as bad a condition as possible that isn't just totally broken. Scratches, gouges, abrasions, cracks as long as it turns on and reads discs you can apparently call that acceptable.

    Played so much GameCube growing up. Main issue I remember having was that the laser that reads the discs would after a while just stop reading the discs. Went through three GameCubes, all eventually had the same problem. Now though, I'm aware there is a way to adjust the laser that might've fixed them. But the GameCube I have now (one of my original three) I modded to play roms off and sd card instead so I don't have that problem. Still, GameCube has so many classics on it. Love that system.

    I've still got my launch day Japanese purple one
    Sadly lost the official component cable and sold the GBA player and lots of games as well as pal silver and black consoles but I got it modded with a discreet switch on the back to allow it to also play USA discs when rogue squadron 2 came out. It needs some repair as the open button mechanism is kind of sticking/failing but, its cool to still have it. Have disc only Luigi Mansion and complete F Zero GX. I'll start to rebuild again slowly in time with a pal PSU and a controller and make do with the composite cable until I can get the component cable again. Likely have also lost the console box but, its cool to have it. Low serial number and lots of good memories.

    If anyone is wondering, those digital adapters like the MK2 Eon thingy are still pretty expensive. The actual cables for that digital port I'd say are worth the investment rather than spending $150 on an adapter that might not work (mine only worked sometimes). The cables themselves are $250 when I got mine

    Two best purchases I ever made for long-term value were the GameBoy player and the official component cables for Game Cube. Those two things combined cost a little under one hundred dollars when they came out and now they sell used complete for about the retail cost of a PS5 or a series X.

    You know. I watched ths and I thought “You know.. I have a Wii U but I really would like to replace my Gamecube I lost a few years ago.. and I jumped online and there was a console reconditioning shop in Mexico that had this same platinum edition in perfect condition (just a couple of scratches on the handle) with original cables and original controller and extensive photos but it said “does not include shipping and import tariffs" so I dropped him a message and he said “Oh you’re just down the road from us in Mexico City.. no problems man.. $50 all delivered. It’ll be there tomorrow” and I was just like “Oh damn.. now I HAVE to buy it” … *CLICK* It is mine. Mexico is a goldmine for retro consoles
