      For more context:
I got a LAN adapter for my wii and wanted to see if I could play PSO with it, so when I logged in I went to look at who was playing, saw someone named "Spawn" and was like "yeah i'll join let's see whats goin on wooo yeah"
i didnt have any idea it was spawn wave of course but I am so sorry for leaving randomly lol
it works surprisingly well in 2022 :)

PSO is my personal favorite game of all time, legitimately put in 5k+ hours, which no other game ever came close to. The only reason I dropped the game was because my memory card got corrupted and had to be formatted, meaning I lost everything. It was my darkest day of gaming history...

And that's what gaming should be about, making players happy and letting them have fun! Not trying to exert so much control over them...

I'd say a lot of the players who play a lot often play on Wii or have the SD Card reader installed (there's some stuff in game that will prompt a read by changing areas a lot, it taxes the laser). There is no fun to it unless you have friends willing to start at level 1 with you. Or if you are willing to grind to be on a similar level to other players. Which would take forever.

I remember playing that PSO server on the dreamcast a few years ago. iirc you had to have a landline phone, hook the phone line up to your dreamcast, but the phone line had to be powered so you had to either splice in a battery or get another device to power the phone line (which I just happened to have a power strip that randomly had a phone line in and out that did just that), then you had to get Unreal Tournament or the web browser disk so you could save some modem settings, then you could go back to PSO and join the server. I was amazed to be playing dreamcast online for about 10 min until I got bored, put everything away, and never touched it again.

It's in the microsoft store, but that version has issues installing which never seem to get fix. That and the game Cube version of the game is 400+ bucks and the adapter is $300. And that was before quarantine pushed up prices.
