I honestly don't get why people think they need touchpads that are the size of the screen or something... this is a touch screen, so if you combine the touch pad and the touch screen you can touch your heart out with this. The touchpad is plenty large enough. I'm also pretty sure that the pen won't work without batteries in it. It also has tons of pressure sensitivity and stuff. Yeah, the Apple pencil is better, but the new pen for the Surface is pretty solid.
After 3 weeks of use I traded my Surface Pro 6 for the new iPad Pro. It is an excellent device and I do miss it sometimes, but I am too deep into the apple ecosystem to use a Microsoft product. Great review! Nothing but truth
The iPad Pros have a 4:3 ratio, not a 3:2 like the Surface Pro. The iPad Pro 11” has a slightly wider ratio than 4:3, but it is still far from a 3:2 ratio.
Correct, the the previous Ipads were 3:2 which = 16x12.03The new I pad at 2388x1668 = a slightly wider 16x11.18 but then again at 7:26 he calls the surface pro 6 a 13in. I like the guy but he obviously needs to do his homework as he is unintentionally giving bad information to the less informed
You can use the Microsoft Surface Dock via the magnetic charging port, it has 4 USB 3.0 2 mini Display port, Ethernet and Audio. I believe it can run one 4k monitor at 60hz or two 1440 at 60hz, or 2 4k at 30hz, and 2 at lower resolution combinations.
Those are not death pixels... it is actually dust inside the led diffuser layers. Awesome review, my hp omen pro is painted black and it is a dope color... also the best paint job on any laptop I've ever seen... two years and no scratches or even peeling paint, just as pristine as first day
Hi, a bit of constructive criticism. Maybe you should choose a more simpler and catchier name for your channel and also, some of your videos need better thumbnails. I just realised you have a video on the ipad pro vs SP6 but I kinda scrolled past it because it didn't seem like a professional made video but more of a tech info with pictures taken off of google. I don't mean to insult because I really enjoyed this video. All the best!
Its hard to trust you when you say the touch recognition is bad when you obviously tapped that video. If you are being genuine, then you need to work kn your motor skills, because that was a tap, sir.
After having and using my Surface Pro 6 for over a week now, I can honestly say that I haven't had any more issues with it "accidently" clicking when I didn't want it to. I love using it and have had no problems with it.
I've used Surface Pro since the beginning, and have never had touch recognition issues. Always was absolutely perfect. Can't say I love using the pen, though.
As a long-time SP3 user who's looking to upgrade, I'm going to hold off on the SP6 until MS offers a modern implementation. USB-C is no longer "coming", it's here and now. I don't want to invest in something without a certain level of future-proofing. Hopefully my SP3 stays strong until SP7 comes out.
Explain to me why it needs the port? Your devices come with usb-c to usb cables, so you're asking that they make you have to go out and buy new cables for no reason... As long as the USB port is 3.0+ it's fine.
@@justing7490 Type C is 2x faster than the 3.0 used in the SP6. Type C also enables full charging or the use of a mobile charger in a pinch. You can also connect monitors using Type C. Keep one Type A port for current/legacy use but Type C vastly expands the usability and applicability of the Surface Pro.
I called Microsoft about the Black paint and they said the paint problem on the black units have been resolved. The early models had The paint problem but the Newer ones don't . Purchased it in black and so far No chipping no peeling.
While I think the Surface Pro is the more complete device (in deed combining a laptop & a tablet) the drawing experience doesn't really hold up to the iPad Pro. So it's not necessarily what graphic designers, illustrators, concept artists might prefer. Despite the software. In my experience it's geared more towards engineers, architects and the like who can really get something out of a portable touch device that just happens to run their rather specialized programs - and who don't need the most fluid drawing experience but rather the precision of a stylus.
Christoph Riess . Nice comment. But I think the surface pro can greatly benefit graphic designers, illustrators and concept artists. I have to admit the iPad has better drawing precision but the surface pro has better usability because it can run full softwares. For example, I’m a graphic designer and my work process involves using illustrator, photoshop and sometimes indesign interchangeably. Having the ability to take a logo I made on illustrator and copy/paste it in photoshop is a big must for me and the surface pro makes it even more appealing to do work while sitting at a park. Yes the ports looks outdated but Microsoft has provided an all-in-one adapter for that. I do think getting the base model seems unwise so my hope is that I can get the max out model to compensate some of its flaws. In a marketplace over saturated with devices we have to pick a product that will give us the most bang for our buck.
@@0nepotential I'm in no way trashing the surface (except maybe for the missing usb-c/tunderbolt 3 port which baffles me). The decision on what fits is really up to the user and his or her specific tasks - but you're right, I probably drew the categories a bit too harshly. I know some logo designers that had prior experience with Affinity Designer who made an easy switch (or, more precisely, just added an iPad Pro to their workflow). But on the other hand it's definitely NOT worth (per se) to get an iPad for the drawing experience when it means to drastically alter a working, streamlined workflow (specifically anything adobe related. Might change with Photoshop for iPad but we'll see). Why change, when the Surface can be a totally suitable addition without the hassle of rearranging workflow patterns etc. Or to venture out into the world of graphic design, concept art & illustration with JUST an iPad (which is doable, but only if you know what you're doing). Glad you pointed that out. There's a whole lot of greyspace in between black and white categories and my first comment to some degree fell into the latter. Ofc. most professionals know rather well what exactly they want and from which device they'll get it - but for those who are still wondering and who maybe have to figure out what exactly they want/need out of a device extra information is needed.
@@0nepotential For me, the reason I went for the SP6 over the iPad Pro is pointer support. I can't imagine giving a presentation to a bunch of people, all the time poking and prodding at the tablet.

One day, when integrated graphics are more powerful(maybe not so far in the future, as intel and amd teamed up to make intel cpus with amd graphics), the surface line will be the non plus ultra of tablet-pcs.
Microsoft should really start including the keyboard cover with the Surface Pro. The keyboard and trackpad is a necessity in order to use the Surface as intended. Without it’s “accessories”, the Surface Pro is much harder to use compared to the iPad Pro without its accessories.
A nice tablet that lacks severely in the video department. The browser Chrome for example is sluggish, slow and jerky. My old iPad Pro (2016) outperforms the SP6 considerably. Had the Surface for a full day and returned
Thank you! Your version (with the specs in the vid) - how fast does it work with photoshop? Or does it lag (cos of i5 etc)? Do you think it's worth it buying the i7 16gb, or not really?
Almost pulled the trigger on one these, then remembered I needed a SIM slot. To my surprise there isn't one on the 6. Absolutely ridiculous oversight with the design. Saved my money then I suppose :-(
I think the MS Surface Pro 6 is the best device for students wich study science. Cause you can write on the surface an take your notes and although you have enough power to use some software like mathematica, matlab, or anything wich needs a bit more performance.
The SP6 is the perfect device for students. Absolutely unbeatable. Keep it on power saver and the battery will last a very long time. At home plug it in and jack up to high performance mode, and it runs plenty fast. Sure you can't do most 3D FPS style games on it (well maybe in low detail), but it can play any other game ever made. Add to that the stylus and touch screen on full style apps and it does anything I need!
People, I am not a fan of ads as well. However, to continue to bring content, I have no choice but to take on sponsors as the cost of producing videos is very high. Without other revenue sources I cannot afford to keep bringing reviews of these very expensive devices. Most big companies will not send me the devices for review. That is the reality. There are other bigger channels that are paid by the manufacturers and will not give you an honest review. They are paid. Bottom line, I love making videos for you to consume, but reality is that I need to take on sponsors to continue to do so. Having said that, I will not promote a product that I would not use myself. I have a lot of new content on the way that I think you will really like. Stay tuned... Moins
Update 1809 Prewiew build 18290 which came out in October has fixed the software issues talked about in the video. Whilist adding fun new features. The update full release is the Spring 2019 Creators Update.
hey there.. great review on the surface pro 6. with regards to the scratches, get the incipio clear or the BX2 Edge for surface pro cover, it’s what I used on mine and works great. You might have to buy a couple of magnets from ebay ( 0.5mm height, 2mm width and 10mm length) and stick on the side for the 2018 surface pen, but the cover is otherwise perfect.
The one I’m bothered by and reconsidering my decision to purchase it is the slightly poor touch recognition. To me, it gets irritating and I wouldn’t invest in a consistent bothersome experience. Could more of you offer your opinions please?
Evening Dan from UK 🇬🇧 Looks better than the one I had years ago, I couldn't get on with it at all. I don't like the black keyboards much, but that's cos I'm a colourful person... 😊👍🏻🎨
Hi there. Thanks for this review! Would you happen to know if Microsoft has already fixed the screen flickering issue on the Surface tablets? I currently have the SP4, and I like using it especially for illustratins, but after just a couple of hours use, the screen begins to flicker to the point where I can't work anymore. Would love to know if the newer models don't have this issue anymore, as these machines are pretty expensive. I hope you could make another update review, maybe mentioning this issue. Thanks, ZoneofTech!
Love my SP6 but Microsoft support and quality is not great I think. In my case my unit had a battery issue, MS support promise me that they replace it for a new one because I report this just after purchase. They return a refurbished one with loose kickstand and artefacts on screen. Found many comments like this seems like a general issue that Microsoft usually replace units for refurbished ones.

Surface pro is literally meant for artist
Not for gaming, we have gaming laptop so yeah
Dude you sold out😳. I am joining you and getting my first Surface Pro 6 😂👍🏼
I believe it can run one 4k monitor at 60hz or two 1440 at 60hz, or 2 4k at 30hz,
and 2 at lower resolution combinations.
Those are not death pixels... it is actually dust inside the led diffuser layers. Awesome review, my hp omen pro is painted black and it is a dope color... also the best paint job on any laptop I've ever seen... two years and no scratches or even peeling paint, just as pristine as first day
I switched from pro6 to the ipad pro - the ipad is much much much more powerful and the apple pencil2 is great
Thanks a lot for all these information i have enjoyed your review 😻
But is it a good choice for programming?
Hi, a bit of constructive criticism. Maybe you should choose a more simpler and catchier name for your channel and also, some of your videos need better thumbnails. I just realised you have a video on the ipad pro vs SP6 but I kinda scrolled past it because it didn't seem like a professional made video but more of a tech info with pictures taken off of google. I don't mean to insult because I really enjoyed this video. All the best!
My surface pro 6 is arriving tomorrow. More excited for it now 😝
Am I the only one who loves the all-in-one proprietary dock port ??
Its hard to trust you when you say the touch recognition is bad when you obviously tapped that video. If you are being genuine, then you need to work kn your motor skills, because that was a tap, sir.
Definitely saw a tap there. Probably couldn't get it to do it again while filming. I put this down to user error.
I just bought a Surface Pro 6 and it will sometimes think I clicked on something when I didn't. The review is correct.
Microsoft hardware is killing it right now. Props to CEO Satya Nadella.
Rational Thinker props to Panos Panay
Bryan Bagayas Is he the designer of Microsoft hardware?
very thorough review, only thing I would do differently, would not put the x/10 on the bottom left, looks like a score rather. Cheers
Tq. Good video. Get one tonight.
Why pen on left side!!!! I guess those that are left handed win this time 😂😂
I'm considering this for college (STEM major) and for art programs
As a long-time SP3 user who's looking to upgrade, I'm going to hold off on the SP6 until MS offers a modern implementation.
USB-C is no longer "coming", it's here and now. I don't want to invest in something without a certain level of future-proofing.
Hopefully my SP3 stays strong until SP7 comes out.
im afraid that SP7 still wont have a USB-C
Theyre looking to bring back the parallel port.
@Brandon S grow up
I called Microsoft about the Black paint and they said the paint problem on the black units have been resolved. The early models had The paint problem but the Newer ones don't . Purchased it in black and so far No chipping no peeling.
One of the best reviews I've ever watched. Spot on! 👍

I'm in no way trashing the surface (except maybe for the missing usb-c/tunderbolt 3 port which baffles me).
The vast majority of people aren't graphics designers, illustrators, or concept artists. They don't need what you need.
I'd disagree. You can't do ANY graphic design work on an ipad. ipads are great for digital painting and illustration but thats about it.
its a laptop that doesn't come with a keyboard or mouse. and dont @ me saying that its a tablet. windows 10 touch interface is pure dog trash lmao. so anyone who's buys this will literally 100% of the time get a keyboard and mouse
You just havent learn how to adapt to it
Awesome review 👍👍👍👍
Great analysis and honesty
This video is awesome now i like that tablet that looks like a laptop and I like tech, sometimes I go to this channel because your videos about tech are awesome.
I love my Surface Pro 6. I use it for my apprenticeship and it's super handy to bring something so compact to many different places.
How's the batter life holding up so far?
@@bharatsharma2446 It's good. It can do a day of moderate work in power saving mode. Any higher, and it can run out fast.
Is scrolling really an issue. Like is it fast and crisp. Any lags at all
The shot at 0:03 is BEAUTIFUL
I decided to find something that replaced my basic laptop and my iPad Pro 9.7. I am retired and not a heavy user, Other than my lack of knowledge of Win10 and being a iPad user, I am finding I can easily retire my other toys. I do need to find a perfect source to get educated on the abilities of my Surface. Thanks for the review. I guess I will keep seeking videos for my learning. I wonder if MS has a training resource.
Seems like the black like in cars look great when clean but most difficult to maintain. And that scratches show so easy.
I may have missed it but which one is this one (in terms of ram & storage) That you're happy with?
I apologise if you mentioned it and I missed it! Thank you in advance!! Awesome review! Appreciate the time you spent to inform us all!!🤜🤛
What storage level/ram would you recommend for amateur video/editing of photos & videos??
Thanks!
for Engineers, it is better to mention the performance of laptop with respect of software like MATLAB, Solid Works etc. or in a word simulation tools
Heya.! It’s a great content you delivered.! So I’m thinking of getting a Surface pro 6, I’m a student, I do regular works like basic coding, PowerPoint, editing and surfing. So how far is it good for me?
This is just perfect for students. I am in my third year of electrical engineering, and with surface pro from the beginning. It's amazing. All my notebooks are in Onenote. Surface pro 6 is great, especially with its battery life
H_ _N thank you, even I’m into electronics and communication engineering.! Hope it’ll be great choice.
@ Zone of Tech, Please be the first Major youtube tech channel to review the Microsoft USBC adapter.
And no it is not thunderbolt.
I have not seen one youtube reviewer of the Microsoft Surface Pro 6, review or even talk about the Surface USBc adapter, not one as of today?
Why?
It ihas full USBC functionality including displays and charging on later Surface Pro.

Best Review! Thanks! ☺️
Jannis Fischer but can it run solidworks?
Thanks for real reviews
The SP6 is the perfect device for students. Absolutely unbeatable. Keep it on power saver and the battery will last a very long time. At home plug it in and jack up to high performance mode, and it runs plenty fast. Sure you can't do most 3D FPS style games on it (well maybe in low detail), but it can play any other game ever made. Add to that the stylus and touch screen on full style apps and it does anything I need!
Watching on surface go, a solid device imo.
Dude thx now my mom knows what to buy me for school your the best

Thank you for this intricate but beautiful review
This is a great device for anyone that knows what to expect from this and who know what they are going to do with it.
Does this supports 3rd party software installation?
Software like photoshop and other software which we can easily install on any windows laptop.
great comprehensive review.
When I am watching this, you have 666k subscribers lol
Update 1809 Prewiew build 18290 which came out in October has fixed the software issues talked about in the video. Whilist adding fun new features. The update full release is the Spring 2019 Creators Update.
What equipment do you use to shoot bro?
I recommend everyone who gets a surface to get one note its really good
hey there.. great review on the surface pro 6. with regards to the scratches, get the incipio clear or the BX2 Edge for surface pro cover, it’s what I used on mine and works great.
Very good review, thank you :)
how does it keep up with programs like ArcGIS,ArcMap etc. Am planning to buy the intel i7 model for my Master degree.
Evening Dan from UK 🇬🇧
Looks better than the one I had years ago, I couldn't get on with it at all. I don't like the black keyboards much, but that's cos I'm a colourful person... 😊👍🏻🎨
Just got mine .. thanks
Thanks, ZoneofTech!
that was due to the design of the Surface Pro 4 specifically. Newer models have not been plagued by this.
I bought my Surface Pro 6 from Amazon for $520.99 for the 256GB VERSION. It is now running Windows 11 Pro.
