    Dude. Surface pen's battery can last up to a year so why bother charging the battery built inside? And also there is no need to worry about the decline of battery life overtime. So yes. Replaceable battery in 2018 is still better.

      Joe Z this is Microsoft answer why they use regular battery, it's a valid reason tho and for me it's better use regular battery than chargeable battery ""With rechargeable batteries, you're assuming you are going to have time to charge it before you use it. For us, we believe creativity will strike at any moment and you'll want to know your pen is going to work without having to plug it in to charge it first""

      I just purchased mine at Costco website because using your Discover card will get 5% cash back. So I'm getting $40+. They don't accept Discover cards in the stores anymore. However, if you have the Citi Costco card, you can get 4% cash back if you an an executive member, but that cost $120 per year.

      Sayid Abyan Not really. I’m still keeping my old laptop for media, gaming, and downloading things from the internet. And that’s literally the things that iPad lacks. PC exclusive things. But this laptop is driving me a bit crazy. Constant bugs in windows and that messy file system (my fault for not organizing it, but now it’s beyond my capabilities)
      It’s just when I leave my house, I’ll be carrying an iPad Pro instead of the heavier laptop. Most things would be done on the iPad, and the laptop would come in handy in case something can’t be done on iPad. And now I’m able to actually draw stuff, so easily with the iPad. For my case and my case only, iPad actually gets more stuff done compared to my laptop.
      Thanks for your advice though. It’s just that I won’t simply throw away the old laptop. I’ll keep regardless which new device I get.

    • @xbraac
      @xbraac 6 лет назад +2

      NonyaBusiness! Your background doesn’t change your status as an average consumer that would only use an iPad for simple daily activities. A device that is capable of having 1TB of storage along with a processor that is made to make it compatible with heavy professional applications is not a device that is for “media consumption” or average users (again, like you). The price is very well justified: 1TB of storage, 6GB of RAM, FaceID (which now works in all orientations to facilitate unlocking for people who use the iPad landscape style with the smart keyboard), an all new design (squared edges to make it easier to magnetically connect the Apple Pencil to the iPad, all-around shrinked bezels on the front, 5.9mm thickness, etc.), A12X processor w/ a new integrated gpu, Liquid Retina technology in the display for curved edges and increased sharpness, and more. It’s easy to call something overpriced when all of the features that are added to the device is something that you won’t use personally.

    • @xbraac
      @xbraac 6 лет назад

      Jayant Saini The people who won’t use it for 4k video rendering and other heavy tasks will just get the cheaper iPads. Your point? It’s advertised as a PRO device, not a device to check your daily mail on.

    Replace is the word people keep bringing up with the iPad Pro. But that’s not what it was made for. iPad is best when paired with a computer, specifically Mac. I use iPad for notes, drawing on PDFs, scanning documents, and sometimes typing documents. I use mac to do other work that will never be better on a tablet. If you want the best tablet, get iPad, if you want the best 2 in 1, the surface pro could be great for you. Apple didn’t make a 2 in 1, and never will.

    Agree except that for me the tablet experience is too poor on the Surface to actually replace a tablet. If I had to choose between just the iPad and the Surface I would choose Surface with full applications.
    The choice for me is between full PC or Tablet. I owned the Surface Pro 4 and it was a great PC. While it can act as a tablet, that's all it is, acting. Windows is not a good tablet solution. The buttons are not optimized for finger touch and I ended up having to use the pen to do typical tablet functions.
    An iPad is a fantastic tablet experience and the new iPad Pro looks like it's going to be even better. Unfortunately it is not a PC. All of the serious apps are dumbed down applications, except maybe the new Photoshop, and not fully functional like on a PC. It is not easy to copy files to and from the iPad and you can't just download files. Sure there is iCloud or Dropbox etc. but then you always have to have a network connection to get stuff done.
    For me, though I liked the Surface Pro 4, I had to carry around a USB fan keep it cool when I played any games. This kept it from slowing down due to heat (thermal throttling). The ports are almost as limited as the iPad and I ended up with a bunch of dongles. I sold it for a more powerful MacBook Pro (thin, light and powerful) where I run Mac OS and Windows simultaneously. If I want to play games I boot to an external SSD where I run windows and play any windows game I want on my Mac. I use my phone for quick tablet type uses.

    And IOS has features which windows doesnt have and the other way. As a student, writing feels much more realistic on the ipad as on the surface (just my opinion!)
    Ipad OS will fix the most problems and photoshop (full version) will come to the ipad.
    Personally i cant believe that photoshop and for example Vegas Pro are running smooth on the surface with that hardware.
    Just because photoshop pro can be run on windows, it doesnt mean that it will be working as you want. Just my opinion, give both of them a try.

      Logitech supposedly has keyboard cases for the new iPad Pros coming soon, and I'd be surprised if Zagg and Belkin aren't far behind.

    What about Blender? After Effects? Pro Tools? Illustrator? Davinci Resolve?

    I am a medical student. I need a tablet to help me studying. I have a lot of pdfs to download and a lot of books. I also use a lot of Anatomy apps from play store to study. Which one you think i should get? I have a laptop but it is slowly dying and i want a device that will last me at least 5 years. Thank you so much and i m sorry if my English is not very good, i am from Spain.

    Surface pro. Because pc software are more capable than mobile apps.

    I have the Surface Pro (5), which I bought literally weeks before the Pro 6 came out. Apart from the watchdog timeout, I have really enjoyed this machine. I use it as both a laptop and a tablet. Have not yet mastered the surface pen. I really like it for youtubing in bed watching concerts or netflixing :)

    The surface line is a laptop. You can remove the keyboard, but it’s a laptop. Apple could have blown it away, but they have continued to fear making the iPad Pro a laptop replacement...they don’t want multiple device customers to stop buying MacBook pros, and should they have added mouse support and decent support for monitor output (these units certainly have the processing power) many of us could get by just fine with an iPad.
