Man I waited so long for this I ended up just buying one a week ago =) But great vid nevertheless and confirms my opinion so far. I got the cheapest one + keyboard and slim pen (the cheaper, non flex keyboard) with a student discount all in plus tax for a little over $1200. Other reviews and my experience so far confirm that the X Elite chip and OLED screen are not worth the added cost, at least for my use case of standard office type tasks and almost everything else within a browser. I wanted my 11” M1 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil to be my do everything device but it was just so frustrating to get anything done on it. File management, dragging and dropping, anything I’ve wanted to do so far just works on the Surface (obviously, thanks to full windows OS). Won’t be going back to iPad until they actually put a real OS on it, which likely will never happen.
The iPad Pro running iPad apps is the biggest stumbling block for the design. There's so much power under the hood, all hamstrung by mobile app design and a mobile OS.
As a former Surface Pro 4 user, they are fun to use. However, previous versions did not have the battery life this one does by miles. The only thing that kept me from buying it was that the keyboard was not included in the price, and it cost $200+ for the keyboard by itself. I'd rather pay the same for the Dell Latitude Lunar Lake for my needs (small Python scripts, Powershell scripts, and Azure cloud management).
actually it's better than x86 windows, it feels snappier than Lunar lake laptop (zenbook s14) but app compatibility is still a main deal breaker for me 😭
@@mangkoeboemieApp Compability is getting better every day, I can run so many Apps under ARM Windows on my MBP M4 Pro under Parallels Emulation that didnt work weeks Ago
Yes, when I visited their headquarters they mentioned they wanted to make sure it was clear this was separate from the Qualcomm name so I referred to Snapdragon as a group of products and the team behind it. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for showing video creation on thihs device. This is something i am really interested in. LEts see what CES has to offer and maybe gen 2 will be better
Battery life was too poor by Apple standards, so I do not consider this a MacBook and/or iPad replacement, but I'm excited to see what future generations will do. Especially the disconnected use with Flex Keyboard or other keyboards was fun
I am myself checking out the laptops with Intel lunar lake chips. More compatible and there are 2in 1’s like the Lenovo Yoga’s and Samsung Book 5 360. The lunar lake chips have incredible battery life too according to the reviews coming out. People are blown away by the efficiency. I have everything Apple. I’ve had an Ipad Pro 12.9 since 2018 as my daily. With the latest Windows chips on offer being so efficient, and the components of 120 hz refresh rate, high end screens, 32 gb ram etc is something Apple doesn’t offer unless you fork out wayy more money. Apple still builds their laptops sturdy, but how much are we willing to pay for that when Windows laptops are now closing in on the gap. Fun times for consumers.
Is that Lunar Lake Chips laptop already out? Does that come with cellular connectivity? Looking for one with a good battery and cellular connectivity. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you.
@@anilkumar1971 I have only myself seen them on youtube reviews but should be available soonish. I dont know about cellular connectivity, I bet you can find that on the websites of the different brands. I am not an expert on the windows laptops as I have been in the Apple world since forever. But it looks like Lenovo makes all kinds of laptops for every need, screen size and 2 in 1’s. The Thinkpad series have good build, quite premium price tag too. That series have 2 in 1’s as well. Samsung as I said just released one called Galaxy book 5 360. Only seen these on the youtube reviews. I would recommend trying them out in real life first.
Great video! Too bad about the hardware encode. Hoping Qualcomm does something like Intel's quicksync and enables all this via software to make it easier for creators.
i was thinking of buying the surface but i don't know if it's the best option for me as i'm studying computer engineering and it may have applications that aren't available.
Lightroom on x86 Windows is also stupidly slower than the one on my Galaxy Tab S8. Adobe just unfortunately doesn't care about properly optimizing their apps for Windows
It’s a great laptop but it doesn’t run MacOS. I have a Surface Pro for programming but it didn’t replace my MacBook Pro or iPad. It all depends on your workflow. If I had one given to me I’d be promoting it too.
@ I write programs for tuning racing engines and upload them to the ecms. There is currently no Mac software that allows me to do this. I like the fact that I don’t have to have my phone with me when I’m on my iPad or MacBook Pro, I can answer texts and phone calls on all my devices. I have never had a virus on a Mac and have had only one crash in years.
As long as its using windows its gonna be shite of a product. The reason why Apple is dominating is not just because of technical specs but the seamless experience, instant sync on Macbook, Iphone, Ipad Pro, and Apple Watch is just so damn good. Apple has created an ecosystem that revolves around hardware to software integration. And that's how they beat those beefy specs from Windows and other makers
Apple is not competing with Windows with this product though. And this is coming from someone with that uses Apple products. The new Surface Pro is a better device than the IPad Pro M4. Anyone that think IPad OS is better is delusional , And from a consumer standpoint you can get 2 devices in one. A tablet and pc with real applications and file management. That alone for a lot of people is worthwhile when Apple users are literally giving Apple over $2,500-3,000 for both devices. Apple also isn’t dominating the PC market, Only Mobile in America.
Surface Pro 11 was a HUGE disappointment. Bought it and used it for a week for school. The only thing I did was draw diagrams and take notes for my engineering classes. The battery life for the tablet and the pro flex keyboard are horrible. With a full charge, I was lucky to get about 3.5 - 4.0 hrs of consistent work done. The keyboard always dropped to about 80% of battery life after only disconnecting it from a full charge and not even using it. I left it idle. Not worth it in my opinion. I returned it...
Just curious to know what you were using on it? Mine’s been comparable to what I saw when I got my MacBook Air M1 when that first came out. I’m running all native apps though, I barely run anything that’s emulated and maybe that’s perhaps why?
@@JC7LG That's the issue. haha. I wasn't running any other apps at all because I didn't download any new or emulated apps. I was using the Surface Pro 11 fresh out the box. The only thing I had opened was Microsoft OneNote, which I was using to take notes and draw diagrams. I didn't even have Microsoft Edge open to play RUclips music in the background because I was not confident in the battery life...hope this helps.
You sure it was a Surface Pro 11 with the snapdragon processor? Legit question, because 3-4 hours of battery life is nowhere near what I and a grand majority of any other person on the internet I've seen use it get. Kinda makes me wonder if either your device was faulty, or you accidentally got a different model.
As a university professor, I find this device exceptional for meeting my needs.
Watching on a Surface Pro 11. It is light years ahead of my old SP6.

There is no "Snapdragon" company. It's Qualcomm. Snapdragon is a product name.

Overall recommended? X plus fast enough?
Truly depends on use case. X Plus should be more than enough for basic computing. In my case the X Elite is necessary for a heavier workflow
@ overall recommended? Considering performance and battery life?
Yes definitely overall recommended

Intel is cooked
Another problem with SP11 is that it can't extend screen display wirelessly to any laptop or external screen due to ARM compatibility.
such a good review, love the long form content!

Been using the Laptop Studio 2 since release. Great laptop overall, just wish it had better thermals.
You made a believer
Why does nobody use proxies? It literally doesn't matter what you record in, just have your proxy in whatever format your CPU/CPU renders faster.
Maybe I'll consider something like this when I need to upgrade to a new laptop/mobile workstation.
I would say what for the 2nd gen version to let Microsoft work out the kinks with software working on arm devices.
What kaybord you have use at home pc? Looks great.
finally a YT video that answered my question.... No, this can't replace my macbook air for editing videos/using after effects. Thank you!
Does the kickstand wobble a bit at certain angles?

You can buy a used sp9 for 600-800 bucks, depending on area and accessories. That may be a good option for you.
Can we charge surface pro 11 with 65gan pd charger through usb c port directly
Yes, as I am charging surface 7 with 65 watt pd charger for many months now
Well done...
Gen 2 will be awesome.
Would you say this or an M2 Macbook is better for Davinci Resolve Video editing?
M2.

Yeaaah, the driver's updating part in windows is the downside 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. I hate it very much. Planning to buy a macbook or a mac mini once i got paid
a lot of these cons feel so similar to my Surface Pro X 😂
Haha very similar processors so very similar problems. But this new line of processors from Snapdragon brought the better battery, and performance.

just stick to the macbook pro with M series rather than this for video creator. SP11 not recomended now coz compability issue and performance
