a little tip for you... i also have a south atlantic and a windpilot…fit a bit of cord on the end of the counterbalance end of wind vane between it and the 50mm aluminium upright tube ...there are no sideway stops on the wind vane, and the only thing that stops windvane at end of its travel sideways is the aluminium pushrod. (bad design) ,so a little bit of string will stop the pushrod being bent, in variable and gusty wind conditions.

Great little boats and the windvane just makes it all a little more better

Nylon isn't your first choice for s/s tiller lines as it adds more slack in tiller control...but it looks like you got it sorted. Off-season you might find it interesting to read John Letcher's Self-Steering for Sailing Craft. We rigged our Vega to self-steer nicely just relying on the varying tension of the main sheet and genoa sheet. A dirt cheap back-up to your vane.

Cheers Jack. We did just use line that we had handy but will definitely change to something more suitable. I had seen a guy on youtube, Sailing golden hind or something like that in hos vega using sheet to tiller steering and definitely something I hope to learn more about

We actually had I mechanical issue with ours and it stopped working properly. So returned it and it was replaced under warranty so have been without it for a while but will be refitting it soon.

@@LittleBoatAdventures sounds great that it's getting replaced. Are you going to film a update on it. These wind vanes are not cheap, this one is just less insane price wise and if support have your back it's all good i guess👍
      Cheers Michael from Denmark

Also did you look at the The Hebridean Wind vane when you made your decision?

Hi Mike. How are you? Yes it's been a while. No wedding yet. It will be next year. Wind vane working well after the replacement came. Can't remember if I told you 1st one broke and was replaced under warranty. I will do an update soon. Next video should be out in a day or two. Really behind at the minute. Hope you are well 🙂

Ha ha . I thought he was being a bit sarcastic, as in have you finished that reef knot . Nice looking boat . Enjoyed the video.

That looks a really sleek unit. If it can work in the Irish Sea I suspect it will work anywhere!

Yeah they seem really robust. A guy from southern Ireland used his to get him to the Canary Islands and the Azores in some heavy weather and it held up well 🤞

Hard to find ,tinker tramp was an old favourite as it has a tube within a tube, popular in Sweden are the small inflatable kayaks they trek with them
