This video was the first one I came across that mentioned broken glass as a common cause of drainage issues. My dishwasher has broken many glasses so I immediately pulled the drain pump and, voila, a piece of glass has apparently been in there for some time and has caused us intermittent drainage trouble. Thank you for sending me in the right direction, eSpares!
Hi Timothy, glass was the most common problem found when we came across dishwashers not draining. Remember if you brake another make sure the bits removed would make a complete glass or it is likely to occur again.
Josh, thank you so much! My GE hasn't been draining-I troubleshot all morning, pulling out the drain hose, digging gunk out of the sump, then I came upon your video. I was very happy to find a piece of broken glass blocking the pump impeller. THANK YOU! -Patrick
You are a hero!! First, you confirmed what my ears were hearing - that a piece of glass was indeed blocking the impeller; that in itself spot on. Then based on your video, I was able to disassemble the pump, remove the glass (just like you predicted) and reassemble. IT WORKS!! Mine required extra effort - the power wiring had to be disconnected because there wasn't enough slack to lay the dishwasher on its back. Also, there was an extra piece on the pump that had to be removed in order to open it But dude, you saved the day. Thanks a ton!!
Thank you. As a last resort I checked the filter assembly in the bottom of the dishwasher and a plastic component? had come adrift. I re-inserted this into its housing but couldn't understand why that would prevent the machine from filling but- lo & behold -it is now working again...
+davidscott47 The first thing a machine does as it starts a cycle is to drain the sump. if this does not occur the machine may stop to indicate a problem. Glad all is sorted now.
I'm about to have a look at our dishwasher that is having problems functioning. I would just like to say that this is a well done video that provided a good amount of background diagnostic information. So, whether I fix it or not I do want to thank you for the information on the potentially problematic parts here. Thank you very much for the lesson!
Hi Ruben, that is probably the most common fault with dishwashers. To avoid it occuring again always rinse of food particles before loading and if you brake a glass check you have removed all parts before reusing the dishwasher.
Very well explained, found a piece of glass in mine today, rebuilt the dishwasher and checked to make sure the pump was working before putting it back in its slot next to the sink. Regards Stuart
Thanks for your post dude. I checked my drain pump that I thought was broken but it was just a piece of broken glass impeding the pump. I removed the glass and cleaned the drain hose and fix the problem. Thanks for saving me money and calling a repairman. You're the man Josh. Maybe the wife will stop bitching now. She uses it but I hand wash my dishes in the sink.
Steve Lomnes Glad we helped Steve. If you have a front loading washing machine check out another couple of videos that you might find usefull: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html andruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html
Great video! I had drain problems, looked at other videos that only talked about pump issues. I took the pump out several times to see what was going on and didn’t finding a problem with it. I was thinking about getting a new dishwasher but thought maybe there was a problem with the drain hose since the pump was working. None of the other videos talked about a flap inside the drain hose being a potential problem , but it was the one thing that you mentioned so I took a look at it, and it was stuck! Don’t even have to pull the washer out to check it. Thanks for saving me money with your great information!
I thoroughly enjoyed this guys video. Unlike most that talk about everything other than what the video intends to discuss for the first 15mins, this guy immediately jumps into it. As far as my dishwasher, I can only assume it's the pump which I can't afford a new dishwasher. My mother has paid a plumber to stop by only to tell her it's the pump after I already told her bc I used a compressor to blow the hose lines out. No blockage in the drain hose so it's to checking the debris that possibly may be blocking the pump. The flip will need to be inspected as well to ensure it's not sticking while nothing I've ever done for my mother has pleased her. Now dealing with breath cancer, I can always cherish the complete absence of an older brother that she holds in the highest regard while she continues to take for granted the son that is always the only one here, only to be treated like a piece of shit. If there was a god of any sort who could help me repair this dishwasher on my own, I'll prove to the world that everything you've been taught is bullshit bc I guarantee I will not find a bit of success. It's been my experience that he blesses only those who make him look good while he punishes anyone who dared to question his presence. Good video btw & yes I'm aware I could use a therapist, who's paying for it? Then shut the f up before ya think your 2 cents will help anyone. Thank you again sir & I'll be sure to subscribe.
I have been using RUclips for years, but this about my 3rd comment. Wanted to say a Massive ThankYou! I thought I was going to have to buy a new dishwasher, or pay someone to fix the pump, but with your help .I cleared the blocked impellor, the blockage was caused by one of the plastic caps that had come off the back of the basket slide rail,(long since replaced) how that managed to get through the filters I have no idea. Thanks again DaveE
Dave Ellis Thanks for your comments Dave, glad you liked the video. May we suggest some other very useful video for most people to watch: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html andruclips.net/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/видео.html
Thx man, the anti-flood switch had caused my Beko DW603 to continuously drain 'making a continuous loud noise' Had a look, mopped up the water, dried it with a hair drier and everything went back to normal. You saved the day
Very good job explaining what each part does and what can go wrong. I fixed me dishwasher with this video. Water was draining into the dishwasher from the sink.
Josh ,I want to thank you for the advice regarding dishwasher ,I got mine sorted as you explained very clearly what one has to do to rectify the problem. I have bought a few parts from the company you represent .🤗
Hi Vapoureyes, glad to hear your appliance is working again and you saved yourself some money. These are the comments we love to hear about. Thank you for shopping with eSpares.
Hello, Thanks for this help; I have a Beko Dishwasher and it kept draining and I didn’t know about the anti-flood switch. I turned the dishwasher on its back but then discovered I could have just removed a panel from the base front. As soon as I removed the panel, there was a tube which had come off the side of the main pump and the water had triggered the flood switch.I put the tube back and put the spring-clip back on and all is back to normal, so a big THANK-YOU for the advice. Cheers, David
Great video Josh you helped me to repair my dishwasher with the same problem my machine was exactly the same inside when i took it apart even though its a different make and model this was the best advice i found when i took the pump out there was a piece of plastic stuck in the impeller and jamming it you saved us a lot of money today i tried all sorts to shift the blockage including dishwasher cleaner and degreaser nothing worked been trying to fathom it out whats been going on for days now until i found this thanks to you and this video its now sorted
Hi Josh my real names Pete thanks so much for posting this great video there,s one thing that happened with ours when i put the first put machine back together, i did,nt pay enough attention to the anti flood switch i accidentally put it all back together with the polystyrene float slightly pushing up onto the anti flood switch and it was indicating a leak when i switched it back on and not filling so i had to pull the machine out again take the bottom back off and make sure that it was fully down and not pressing on the switch all is fine now i found its only a narrow margin for that little switch to be on or off so anyone doing this, its a thing to watch out for
I just fixed my Bosch dishwasher. Problem was stuck float in Water Level Control Assembly. This keep the pump constantly running. Hard water/calcium deposits pretty much caked up stopping float. I went a few steps further and took apart whole assembly and descaled parts and float with CLR cleaner and brushes. Cleaned Styrofoam float on bottom and all moving parts. (Red push-rod and other parts). Works as good as new now. Thanks for video.
Thank you on your informative videos, I have a SMEG dishwasher and only recently ( 2-3 months) it would run through the program and later after it had finished the cycle the pump would come on. I soaked as much water out of the sump, first tilting forward to get rid of water out of the tray then flipped it on its back. there was a moisture on the float bottom but I could not see anywhere else where the water was coming from, I then took the pump motor off and there was no obstructions. I flipped it back up and when puting the baskets back in I noticed that the bottom door seal was loose or coming out of its little groove and looked as though it had shrunk a little bit, at the moment it seems to be running ok. I wonder if this could be the cause of the problem?
Thanks for the help. In fact it was the non-return valve which had worked out of its housing and was loose inside the drainage hose. I gave it a good wash and pushed it firmly in to place and the machine now works like new!
The non return valve can often stick from accumulated grease. See our video: How to Cure a Smelly Washing Machine This video talks about a washing machine cleaner that will help remove grease and limescale in your dishwasher as well as removing mould and bacteria in your washing machine. :-)
I had to clean my dishwasher a few months ago and while I was doing so a little metal clip went down the dishwasher's drain and I didn't thing it was a big deal since the dishwasher operated just fine. Yesterday, the dishwasher did not drain and got an OE error. After running a manual drain cycle, I can hear a low hum coming from the dishwasher but the water is not drained. After listening to your explanation about what could happen if a piece of glass were to go down the drain, I'm feeling pretty confident that piece of metal is stuck on the pump and blocking the impeller from turning. At least now I know I'm not on a wild goose chase.
Sounds like you have found the clip. The pump on a dishwasher has to be a close fit between the impeller and the casing or it would not push the water. Shards of glass, nuts any small item will eventually be washed into the chamber and jam the impeller.
Thank you very much ! A very imformative video . My motor impella was blocked so had to clean it out One thing though it took me about half an hour to work out that I had to back fill the pump with water to get it running again Thanks again !
+bob W As long as there is water in contact with the pump it should work. It may be worth pouring a glass of water into the sump after repair , then you will here the familiar 'gurgling' when the machine starts a cycle.
thanks for the great video i have a kenmore and it suddenly stopped draining, took everything apart including the pump and still not draining the i decided to discannect the hose from the drain pipe again and drain into a bucked and it worked perfect ...the problem some kind of particle stuck in the main drain pipe under the sink ....it took two hours to figure this out !!!!
Hi! My pump's reading is at 16 ohms instead of 200 as mentioned by you. Does this indicate that its not working any longer? Great video btw, very clear and well presented!
Great video, thanks and helped me fix mine in well under an hour. It wasn't the faults you raised (the impeller had come off the wash pump shaft due to the central screw falling out..) but it helped me find my way around very quickly. Many thanks!
Thanks for this video it is really help full. I have established that my dishwasher under tray was full of water, the only thing is I can't find any evidence of a leek. The only water I can find is condensation on the underside of the salt tank. Is it possible the water in the tray could just be this condensation dripping down over the period of 10 or so years?
+AntonyAnimation It is more likely that water or suds have overflowed into the base and built up as a little condensation would usually evaporated. On older machines I have come across leaks on the seams of the cavity or even from a spot weld rusting a small hole. For more information see another video: ruclips.net/video/7b1-M_WKYJs/видео.html
Thanks Josh this video really helped and also saved me 45 bucks. I thought my pump was broken turns out it was just a piece of glass in the pump. I also think you are Russell Brand's Doppler ganger.
Josh, Thanks for all your help. My inclination is that it is the control board. I'll open it up and see if I can get a number off the board itself and search for one online. If not it is going to dishwasher heaven via the dump. John
Hello from Ohio... Thank u so much.. For the video... I knew it was the drain motor but honestly never thought about checking for glass lol and it was... I was about to get a new drain motor..... Thanks again...
Love your videos, really clear. We've got a Smeg dishwasher and it's giving us the E2 code: the system which limits the water level inside the dishwasher has been tripped. The machine goes through the prewash but stops after 10-15 minutes. It sounds like it is draining fine and there are no blockages in the waste pipe. Can you direct me towards a video which would help? TIA.
Hi Michael, first see our advice centre here: www.espares.co.uk/advice/symptom/smeg-dishwasher-error-code-e01-or-e02 Then watch another video: ruclips.net/video/7b1-M_WKYJs/видео.html
Cheers for the vid - just about to take apart my dishwasher that stopped draining today with a strange noise in the pump and suspected something like this. So was good to see it explained/confirmed first :)
It's back up and running. Shard of glass and some lemon pips in there. Now I have to work out how to reattach the door spring since its plastic mount point has snapped off a while ago heheh :)
gertrudestrawberry Foreign objects in the pump are the number one reason for not draining. Always rinse off all food particles before loading the dishwasher and you may be surprised how much cleaner your dishes will be.
Hi Nablaman, that is probably the most common reason for a dishwasher not draining. Remember the next time you break a glass to carefully check the broken pieces add up to the whole glass to prevent this occurring again.
espares thanks Josh for a brilliant video it saved me 200 quid and what you said and showed us was exactly had happened a little chip x2 off a cup had blocked the pump, IF I NEED ANY SPEARS, i will forsure come to you, working again and quieter than before, 1 week without a dishwasher was hell ..........:-))))))))
I have checked that there are no blockages as my bosch dishwater was not draining completely. I have made sure impeller is free. And cleaned every thing out All the lights for the different settings including salt comes on. What does this signify - many thanks for ideas Joe
Very clear instructions and sharp video, easy to follow, will try this at weekend. E spares is a good store, bought various things from them, good reliable service.
My dishwasher of about 2 years was functioning well but now appears to have a drainage problem. When dishwasher tries to drain only a small volume of water comes out of the drain hose in one spurt (approx. 200ml), then after a pause of about 30sec machine tries again, with same result. Dishwasher does this about 4 times then gives up and displays the error message OE (washing motor or drain pump failure). If I drain manually by opening the door and removing the water (scoop and bucket) the machine then continues to the rinse cycle. After watching your video I was inspired to investigate further however getting access to the drain pump was no easy task. On my model (LG D14020WHS) there is no base plate, instead I ended up having to invert dishwasher on to its top then remove screws on front and back and both the side panels to then get access inside from the side. After identifying the drain pump and managing to release the hose tension clamps I could remove it however no obstruction was found in the drain pump and the impeller turned freely. The only potential problem was the electrical resistance across the motor terminals measured 4ohms instead of 200ohms as you mention in the clip. Also verified the flapper valve on the sump outlet was fine. Reassembled dishwasher and ran it through a cycle but same problem. I would appreciate if you could give me any other troubleshooting suggestions regarding the drainage problem. Also a search of your website I didn't find any spares for my dishwasher, possibly because it is a French model and the model number is different in the UK I get the distinct impression that my model of dishwasher is designed to prevent simple disassembly for accessing and replacing parts (contrary to EU regulations), thereby also putting you guys out of business. I would recommend to anybody when prospecting for a new dishwasher to check accessibility to the machine base to be able to replace parts instead of having the chuck the whole machine when problems arise. If the dishwasher has a solid molded plastic base then avoid buying it!
+Anthony S It sounds like the drain pump is likely to be the problem and you should replace it. Fill in your information using the following link and we will try and obtain the part you require: www.espares.co.uk/contact/sales
Nice video. I had my drain pump on my Bosch replaced about a week ago after I started hearing a low humming sound every time it came time to draining. The man didn’t find anything in the way (no broken bits) but even the new drain pump makes noise! Any idea why?
Hi Monica, the drain pump will make a noise when it's pumping out if it is excessive then check the drain hose and make sure the pump is not moving causing vibration.
Thanks for the video, it has been very helpful so far. Still I am struggling with the DW :( Hi have an Indesit IDF 125 dishwasher that started misbehaving after two power drops. The cycle starts, rinses and drains first time. It doesn't open the detergent cup, and never goes in to further steps. It remains flashing the "Start" button light and then goes off after 1 hour so. When left turned off, eventually will start draining and the middle-bottom led and the start button led will blink intermittently. After a good time doing this, it will turn off. I cleaned and pumped with plunger, I removed the machine's bottom cover and accessed the drain pump, I found a screw within the turbines that looks like the one from the sink of the dishwasher, but none of them were missing. I mounted everything back and still the same behaviour. The only difference is that it doesn't make noise when drains I guess the loosen screw was obstructing. I other post I heard about this part replaced www.espares.co.uk/product/es1087831/dishwasher-air-break-turbine?SearchTerm=C00256546 . Any ideas what to look for? Thanks in advance.
Hi Javier, your machine is likely to be showing a fault code and depending on which lights are flashing it may point to the problem. Looking logically the machine would not start washing if there was a fill problem. It empties and washes OK, but is likely not to be heating the water so it does not dispense until the correct temperature is achieved. For more information see our video: How to Diagnose Dishwasher Leaking and Heating Problems : ruclips.net/video/7b1-M_WKYJs/видео.html
Hey man thanks a lot, I ordered the heater element, replaced and everything is working now. The old heater element was not giving resistance readings at all, the new one reads ~36 Ohm. Now the cycles work as expected. Thanks again !
hi excellent video. I have a NEFF SL15J1F which is not starting. The lights come on, water pressure is ok and I was able to check the float and it was ok. The motor just runs and runs, seems strong, but wash cycle does not start. The tank at the side does not seem to fill and I have checked the autostop valve filter is clear on the water inlet. Any other things I can check? best regards
Hi Ceran, you are right that is unusual, I once found a wedding ring inside a dishwasher and another time a pair of false teeth that had managed to drop inside and the customer could not get them out :)
@@eSpares Job done :) Piece of broken glass in the pump. I've also impoved filter inner basket with aluminium mesh-norhing larger than 2mm passes. Thanks again guys.
Reply for Ot Tap: At 3:43 we tell you about the non return flap valve. Check this has not stuck and make sure the hose is not blocked or the fitting it attaches to.
+eSpares Common problem this if you fix the hose onto the bottom of the sink check the spigot that yo attach to. It is likely to be blocked usually with food fat from pouring grill/fry pan waste down the drain.
+my pitbull82 (mypitbull82) The problem is likely to be the water heater as the cycle continues until the water is heated. For more information see another Diagnosis video: ruclips.net/video/Ftm8lDVVw2E/видео.html
Hi Josh! you mentioned in a video that there is some specialized equipment required for in-field calibration of a dishwasher when replacing certain parts, what is this equipment?
The only 'special equipment' that is used on some appliances is a programmer like this smart card reader: www.espares.co.uk/product/es1131258 This is for most Hotpoint and Indesit machines as the control boards are supplied requiring programming and will not work until the program information is loaded using this and the relevant program smart card for the device.
Hi Josh, great informative videos. I have a bosch variodrawer dishwasher, which is displaying the E24 code. Its draining the water perfectly, but its seems as if its not filling and keeps stopping the cycle. But on the pre rinse and quick wash it will work fine, it fills up and drains the water. but on the other cycles it seems as if it won't fill with water, and then the E24 appears. There is a whirring type noise which sounds like a motor/pump, as the motor pump increases in speed so does the whirring type noise. any info would be appreciated, regards Jason
Hi Jason, we believe E24 is a circulation problem. The most common cause of this is blocked spray arm jets. This usually happens when food has not been fully rinsed off before loading the machine and has restricted the spray holes. Remove and clean the spray jets andrun a machine cleaner through it to clear any build up of grease. See our video: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html This product is great for dishwasher and washing machine cleaning.
All the dishwashers I've owned have a removable cover over the impeller under the filter unit. No need to take the bottom off and dismantle everything, just remove the clip and check for debris in the impeller. Surely that should be the first thing to try?
Hi Josh, Great video.I have an AEG Sensorlogic disch washer from 2009. The problem is that the disch washer fills with clear water after the program is finished. Everything looks fine when the program is finished. Not water in the bottom. But it typically fills with water during the night or day when the disch washer is not in use. We have to start a program to drain the water. This filling of water does not happen daily. Maybe only twice a week. Any idea what cause this problem? Thanks. Jan Rasmus (Norway)
Hi Jan, this is typically a water valve issue that is caused by the valve letting in water when it is turned off as the water pressure pushes past the diaphragm in the valve.
I have a Whirpool for Ikea (Model DWH B00), one day it just stopped working, you programmed it, hit start, looked like it was working, but after five minutes or so, it started beeping, and when opening it, it was flooded and the water was cold. That was like four years ago, i've tried to use it now, and it wont even take water, it just floods very slowly. I'm going to check all your vids and see if i can make it work again!
ComandanteJ Well done, thats impressive timings there. Four years waiting to find our videos and repaired within 3 hours of your first post. We bet it wont be waiting another four years when your next appliance stops before you check out our videos again. :-)
if there is no resistance reading across the capacitor terminals, would this result in the dishwasher tripping, stopping during cycles or not starting?
Hi Giles, depending on the capacitor value capacitors will usually read 'open circuit' when measured by a meter as with the dc from a meter the capacitor simply charges and only shows any resistance either on initial contact or alternating/pulsed signals. If the dishwasher 'runs' for a while the capacitor must be working but could break down. More likely would be the heating element failing.
excellent instructions and the easy part is changing the pump. BUT it still doesn't work. I've now tested the old pump and it reads 220 ohms and so is prob not faulty. What next? the electric connector is in poor shape and may be suspect....what's more is that it should be an idiot-proof connection but fits either way. any advice please? it is Blomberg: supposedly higher quality then the standard Beko, but not sure that extends to the innards.
The machine does not empty when it reaches the emptying stage There is no sign of the pump working, ie no sound. i have tried the 'cancel' method too as in the instructions...but nothing happens. pipes are all clear. it failed at the end of a wash, and all the water in it was clean, and filling only the sump. i tried a rinse program and it filled but did not drain. then a couple of times, did the start and cancel routine. not the slightest sound of the pump working. also turned off at the main overnight in case it rebooted, but no. also tested it with the mains supply connected but waste into open sink, but no change.
Hi Duncan, check the drain circuit from the pump to the main control board, you need to determine if the board has failed by checking everything else as you can't test the board but make sure the connections are on tight at both ends.
Hi Josh. Nice video. I have an issue with my Indesit dishwasher (10 yrs old) that seems to not pump enough water to have the heater element submerged, before starting the cycle. This had caused the rear tray wheel to melt as the heater is above water level.Where should I be looking for trouble? Thanks a lot.
Sounds like the machine is not level and as the water is running towards the front it still provides enough pressure to think it has filled correctly. Check the top is level, if you cannot get a level between the top and cabinet then level out of the cabinet and check the door is vertical and then recheck when back in position.
Thank you Josh for your prompt reply. The dishwasher has been installed in its place for the past 10 years, so I find it difficult to have moved/tipped. I think it's more likely that the pump will not pump enough water (clogged ?) before starting, while "thinking" it has filled the dishwasher. How does the pump work ? By operating for a fixed period of time ? There is no floater that will trigger its off switch ?
Indesit dishwashers have a pressure switch that turns the water off when it has a certain level of water above it. These are quite reliable and are unlikely to go out of range. As previously mentioned the water level is usually quite low as it cannot be close to the front lip or it will spill over. You could try replacing the pressure switch but do check the machine is level as this can have a significant effect on the water as it is so shallow anyway.
Hi, Thanks for the answer - it does not fill at all. The drain pump runs for 30 seconds, stops for 10 seconds then repeats - it seems like it is stuck in the initial empty mode and does not get past this - it does not run constantly - it is the 30 secs pause for 10 then repeat.?
+John Feeney OK, the machine is designed to empty before starting a cycle. If the drain hose is blocked or if there is a pressure switch if stuck then it may think there is water still in.
Great videos. My problem is with my BEKO DW603, during any cycle the dishwasher does not drain down during its normal operation so it continually fills with water, I cannot even hear the pump operating so eventually the dishwasher floods and activates the anti-flood device then it pumps out the water. I have cleaned all the filters, checked the operation of the waste pump and the waste hose to ensure nothing is blocked. I have checked all your videos but cannot find anything that can explain this. Can you give any advice.
Hi TeamMarsh Pictures, the filling is controlled by the board and will have a sensor or flow valve controlling the levels of water, check for a blockage that is causing the issue but it may be the board.
Followed the steps here and removed glass from the impeller on my Frigidaire dishwasher. Now that I'm trying to re-attach the pump to the washer I can't get it to stop leaking. The O-ring between the pump and the washer looks slightly too big for the space, but it was in there and wasn't leaking before... Thoughts?
Hi Todd, It is possible oils from cooking has caused the seal to go out of shape and extend. If this does not fit exactly in position it is going to leak so it would be necessary to replace if this is the case. Depending on model the seal may not be available on its own and you may need to replace the whole pump assembly.
Hi Peter, that does sound particularly low but the figure we gave relates to a mains powered drain motor (240 volt). We believe some Bosch machines (and maybe others) may use low voltage pumps so the resistance would have to be proportionally lower and therefore depending on machine this could be correct. What is your problem with the machine.
eSpares The machine doesn't drain properly. Both drain filters are clean. When the hose was disconnected from the pump and when turned on, there wasn't much suction from the pump. that's why I asked about lower ohms maybe meaning less power/vacuum. Does the float play a part in draining?
Drain pump do not give any suction and only operate when water is in the pump chamber hence why they are always at the bottom of the machine. In practice if the pump is running the problem is usually else where.
Thank you for cancelling out the pump being it runs. Good to know that there shouldn't be any suction coming from the pump. Where would you look next if the hoses are not blocked? Does the float play a part in the draining cycle?

This video was the first one I came across that mentioned broken glass as a common cause of drainage issues. My dishwasher has broken many glasses so I immediately pulled the drain pump and, voila, a piece of glass has apparently been in there for some time and has caused us intermittent drainage trouble. Thank you for sending me in the right direction, eSpares!

Mine required extra effort - the power wiring had to be disconnected because there wasn't enough slack to lay the dishwasher on its back. Also, there was an extra piece on the pump that had to be removed in order to open it
But dude, you saved the day. Thanks a ton!!
Thanks for the comments Dave, remember to 'like’ the video if you enjoyed it or it helped.👍
Its 12:15 ham and I have been going nutz working on my dishwasher. Just found this vid showing exactly what I need to do. THANKS!!!!!!!!!
Hi Charles, hopefully eSpares will be your first place of referance next time you have a problem. 😊
Watching this just saved me £200 getting a new dishwasher. Broken glass removed, impeller spinning... Cheers fella!

+HolySakeCup Thanks for the comments and good luck with the repair.
thank you so much! just saved my dishwasher... disassembled the pump, cleared the block and now it works perfectly again!
Hi Stuart, well done for fixing it and glad we could help.
Hi airegin RG, thank you for your post and glad the video helped we always like it when people save money well done for sorting it.
@@eSparesYour welcome dude.
This was exactly what I needed to fix our 2 year old GE dishwasher. Saved me a service call and probably a couple hundred dollars. thanks!

Hi Rod, thanks for letting us know the video helped as we work hard to make the videos as informative as possible.
Thanks again

Thanks David for the comments, glad we helped sort the problem.

Hi Josh my real names Pete thanks so much for posting this great video there,s one thing that happened with ours when i put the first put machine back together, i did,nt pay enough attention to the anti flood switch i accidentally put it all back together with the polystyrene float slightly pushing up onto the anti flood switch and it was indicating a leak when i switched it back on and not filling so i had to pull the machine out again take the bottom back off and make sure that it was fully down and not pressing on the switch all is fine now i found its only a narrow margin for that little switch to be on or off so anyone doing this, its a thing to watch out for
Very clearly explained. An articulate and knowledgeable presenter!
Thanks Cheryl, for the comments we always try to ensure viewers can understand their appliances and feel confident to tackle a repair.
I've watched 5 or 10 videos along my journey, this is by far the best. Subbed and added this to my playlist.
This was very helpful! I found glass wedged in the check valve flap in the outlet hose. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the feedback Mary.
Hi Robert, glad the video helped and remember to like the video.
See our video:
How to Cure a Smelly Washing Machine
This video talks about a washing machine cleaner that will help remove grease and limescale in your dishwasher as well as removing mould and bacteria in your washing machine.
My motor impella was blocked so had to clean it out
One thing though it took me about half an hour to work out that I had to back fill the pump with water to get it running again
Thanks again !
+Nick Brilhante Thanks for the comments and glad to hear you resolved the problem.
Thank you eSpares. My dishwasher is now draining properly.
😊
Hi! My pump's reading is at 16 ohms instead of 200 as mentioned by you. Does this indicate that its not working any longer? Great video btw, very clear and well presented!
+zoltan08 The reading given is for a typical 240 volt machine. This can vary especially on American models.
Worked like a charm.
Piece of glass right in the Impeller.
Thanx for the help.

Best video on youtube about drain pump problems. Thank you!
Great video, thanks and helped me fix mine in well under an hour. It wasn't the faults you raised (the impeller had come off the wash pump shaft due to the central screw falling out..) but it helped me find my way around very quickly. Many thanks!
Hi Miles, thank you for your post and well done for fixing it and maybe we helped a little bit.
Thanks Josh - fixed as per your advice - found a toothpick in the fins of the pump. Cheers !!!
+bumbu seed :-)

I've just used this video to see if this solves the problem fingers crossed and thanks for now!
What was your problem?.
Josh,
Thanks for all your help. My inclination is that it is the control board. I'll open it up and see if I can get a number off the board itself and search for one online. If not it is going to dishwasher heaven via the dump.
John
Hi Josh,
Thank you for your excellent video! After dismantling and reassembling the pump, the dishwasher works perfectly.

Hello from Ohio... Thank u so much.. For the video... I knew it was the drain motor but honestly never thought about checking for glass lol and it was... I was about to get a new drain motor..... Thanks again...
Hi Youness, Happy we have helped.:-)
Love your videos, really clear.
We've got a Smeg dishwasher and it's giving us the E2 code: the system which limits the water level inside the dishwasher has been tripped.
The machine goes through the prewash but stops after 10-15 minutes. It sounds like it is draining fine and there are no blockages in the waste pipe.
Can you direct me towards a video which would help? TIA.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! It was cherry pits stuck in the impeller, just like you showed.
gertrudestrawberry Foreign objects in the pump are the number one reason for not draining. Always rinse off all food particles before loading the dishwasher and you may be surprised how much cleaner your dishes will be.
I followed your directions and found a piece of glass blocking the motor from turning. Thank you very much

Thanks a lot for the video, it just saved my Whirlpool ADPY 2320! Glass shard in the drain pump.....
Hi Nablaman, that is probably the most common reason for a dishwasher not draining. Remember the next time you break a glass to carefully check the broken pieces add up to the whole glass to prevent this occurring again.

I have a question:
On the little rubber flap you mentioned by the water drain pump.
Would it hurt if it didn’t have it?
I have checked that there are no blockages as my bosch dishwater was not draining completely. I have made sure impeller is free. And cleaned every thing out All the lights for the different settings including salt comes on. What does this signify - many thanks for ideas

Does the machine drain with the pump when offered to a bucket. If the pump makes a noise to say it is running but no water empties see 3:57
I fixed my pump because of this video. Thanks.
Thanks for the comments Joe, glad all went well.
Thanks alot buddy... U solved all the mess n fuss with my dishwasher..
Hi Amna, glad our video helped and keep watching.
Very clear instructions and sharp video, easy to follow, will try this at weekend. E spares is a good store, bought various things from them, good reliable service.
Thanks for the positive comments Lilac, we hope the information helps resolve your problem.
Also a search of your website I didn't find any spares for my dishwasher, possibly because it is a French model and the model number is different in the UK
I get the distinct impression that my model of dishwasher is designed to prevent simple disassembly for accessing and replacing parts (contrary to EU regulations), thereby also putting you guys out of business.

😂😂😂
Still I am struggling with the DW :(
Hi have an Indesit IDF 125 dishwasher that started misbehaving after two power drops.
For more information see our video:
How to Diagnose Dishwasher Leaking and Heating Problems : ruclips.net/video/7b1-M_WKYJs/видео.html
Hey man thanks a lot, I ordered the heater element, replaced and everything is working now. The old heater element was not giving resistance readings at all, the new one reads ~36 Ohm. Now the cycles work as expected. Thanks again !

Thanks!!! i fix my dishwasher all by myself with your tuto.
Hi LaptiteBelanger, thank you for your post and well done for fixing it yourself we are here to help.
hi excellent video.
Thanks! Just used this video to fix my dishwasher
Hi Ceren, glad we could help.
eSpares my blockage ended up being a 64gb micro sd card, probably a first 😃

Thank you for the very accurate information that was easy to understand. We never thought it could be a piece of glass but it was. Thanks!
+Gary Luca Thanks for the comments, glad we helped. :-)
Reply for Ot Tap:
At 3:43 we tell you about the non return flap valve.
The problem may be due to the heater faulty as the machine is 'waiting' for the temperature to rise before moving along the cycle.

Hi Josh! you mentioned in a video that there is some specialized equipment required for in-field calibration of a dishwasher when replacing certain parts, what is this equipment?
The only 'special equipment' that is used on some appliances is a programmer like this smart card reader: www.espares.co.uk/product/es1131258
This is for most Hotpoint and Indesit machines as the control boards are supplied requiring programming and will not work until the program information is loaded using this and the relevant program smart card for the device.
See our video: ruclips.net/video/ifWK9df1qgg/видео.html
This product is great for dishwasher and washing machine cleaning.
Your video solved my problems Thanks you !
Hi Galtor, glad we could help and don't forget to like the video.
Josh - You Da' Man!!! A small piece of glass in the impeller indeed.
Thanks Herb, as you can tell not the first time we have heard of this. 😊
All the dishwashers I've owned have a removable cover over the impeller under the filter unit. No need to take the bottom off and dismantle everything, just remove the clip and check for debris in the impeller. Surely that should be the first thing to try?
Hi Alistair, thank you for your post and you are right checking the impeller should be the quickest and should be the first thing to try.
Wow great video thanks !! I wasn't aware Russel Brand
Moon lighted as an appliance technician as well LOL !!
Thanks for the comments, remember to keep Russel's sorry I meant Josh's secret lol.
ComandanteJ Yay! i found the problem, it was just shit in the pump and a dent on the inlet tube. Working again, thanks m8!
ComandanteJ Well done, thats impressive timings there. Four years waiting to find our videos and repaired within 3 hours of your first post. We bet it wont be waiting another four years when your next appliance stops before you check out our videos again. :-)
Haha, yeah, i'm sure of that! Thanks again, i couldn't have done it without this vid.
if there is no resistance reading across the capacitor terminals, would this result in the dishwasher tripping, stopping during cycles or not starting?
Hi Duncan, can you run us through what is the exact fault, you are correct the reading you got from the pump would indicate it is OK.
You could try replacing the pressure switch but do check the machine is level as this can have a significant effect on the water as it is so shallow anyway.
very detailed and informative video.. Thanks a lot
Hi Truth Seeker, thank you for your comment and hoped it helped you fix it yourself.
Hi,
Thanks for the answer - it does not fill at all.
You save the day Josh 😍👍👌🍾
Hi, thanks so much for your comment! We are so glad our video has helped you to fix your dishwasher yourself.
Would the low ohm reading of 33 mean that the pump is not working to its normal ability?
Thanks for the help!!
