    My dishwasher has 8 years of use, it never gave me problems, but I have two water filters installed in my house, the water here is collected from the rain, in the region where I live, I also use chlorine in the dishwasher once a month .
    Greetings from Brazil.
    I love your videos.

    Get hold of a box of citric acid-they sell it in wilkos at the moment,it’s with all the other washing machine cleaners etc-pour half the contents in,and run it without any dishes-this stuff will dissolve any calcium build up. Well done on the diagnosing and repair-I’m a service engineer,and do this day in day out!

    Life saver mate, had the same issue, doing everything but wash, watched your video to find the pump motor, opened the motor to find a worn impeller had fell off, new impellor for a fiver and the dishwashers working great. even managed it without dismantling the motor from the unit.... saved a fortune mate cheers.

    Hey Vince, the impeller is not supposed to come off the shaft easily like you did, this generally means the impeller is faulty and there will be too much play and the impeller will catch on the housing. The only fix was a new circulation pump. P.s I am an appliance technician.

    It's a good job I have a water softener fitted for the house supply. It does cost money but then I don't have these kinds of failures in my water based appliances (I live in London where the water is hard). Plus I usually use the dishwasher/washing machine cleaner once a month and they've given me years of reliable cleaning/washing. Enjoyed the video, keep up the good work!

    Make sure you top up the salt regularly. It is there to soften the water. At 2:14 you can see salt low light being on indicating there's not enough salt. Add salt even if you use 3in1 tablets. Also check your water hardness, you might get it from your water supplier, and adjust softening accordingly. There should be a table in the manual showing which setting you should use for which hardness level.
    Love your videos, keep them coming!

    Water filter and a water softener may be a good investment for longevity.

    • @hooeezit
      @hooeezit 4 года назад +4

      The salt reservoir inside _is_ the water softener. Does the exact same thing as a home water softener.
      What is common, though, is forgetting to refill the salt. Now that I have seen what it does to the pump, I will make sure I refill mine on a regular schedule.

      Also, check if the drain filter doesn't have any big holes, since that would cause any gunk from the dishes to go back into the circulation pump.

    That play in the impeller, is to make sure the motor runs the right way. Those induction motors can run either way. On switch on, it is 50/50 whether it starts the right way round. If it's wrong, that clutch kicks it back the right way and it then continues the right way.

  • @metanevets91

    The circulating pump is the same as the Whirlpool and a lot of other brands. Mine quit cleaning or might I say I got around to fixing it the week before Christmas. I first blew out the holes in the spray arms but it still didn’t spray properly. I removed the pump an disassembled it. The bushings were worn enough the stater rubbed the side. My wife was in a hurry to have it fixed. I removed the bushings and replaced them with RC wheel ball bearings. Thou they are stainless steel I have read these will eventually rust and lock up. I have since cut two pieces of 1/2 in. Acetal rod 11mm in length. Drilled a 5mm hole in the center and mounted them in my drill press. Then turned down half, 5.5 mm to 10 mm with a small file. I kept the old bushings with the o-rings and plan to use the o-rings on my home made bushings.The old bushings were made of graphite probably to wear quickly. Acetal will out last graphite 10x. The bushings and o-rings cannot be purchased separately from appliance parts store. If the large o-ring leaks you have to buy a new pump. Not me! I’ll make my own bushings, use the o-rings from the old bushings and replace the large o-ring with a new #235 o-ring.

    My mate vice, those pumps goes bad from bushings and the liquid inside of the rotor is ferromagnetic fluid so once they fail is impossible fix it, also those pumps They commonly fail in the wash machine so prepair for dismantle one 🤣
    I know it coz I repair wash machines/dishwasher machines and the common faulty is those pumps, first They start to make noise then to get stuck and the last stuff is fry the coil, in the worse case the pump frys the drain circuit in the circuit board (commonly in a samsung wash machine, in fact I hate those friking machines)
    So here we go my two cents

    • @josh6715

      I just take the pump apart and spray silicon spray where the rotor is and i have never had trouble doing it that

    • @equid0x
      @equid0x 4 года назад +1

      I have a similar pump on my machine. The graphite bushings had worn in an eccentric hole, causing the stator to hit the side of the casing, sometimes stalling the motor. I could not source the bushing, so I rigged a nylon drill bushing in a rubber washer at each end. It's been nearly a year and the fix is still holding with the machine used nearly every day. I had to run a reset cycle on the machine to get it to heat water again after it threw codes.

    Quick troubleshooting on this one! If you had a clamp meter you could have easily tested the current draw of the pump motor safely and verified that it was drawing excessive current when the rotor wasn't turning. They allow you to test current draw without breaking the circuit as you would have to do with a standard multimeter. Cheap ones run around $20-$30. which is good enough if you just do occasional testing and don't need real accuracy. You just hook it around one wire and it reads the current through induction. Works on ac and dc. Can even help verify shorts in electronics.

      I think its mostly trial and error. You google the model, hope for a repair diagram or parts shop... If you can't find it, you look for others from the same brand and then just compare the broken part in your hand to the pictures of the parts online. I don't think he can really "teach" this in a video, it's just taking the time to dig around the internet.

    He used a ball raced bearing and it worked..
    It seems the black plastic bush at the end of the shaft is a weak point good job.. but the bearing of the motor at top and bottom of the shaft is the weak point

  • @EpRoos
    @EpRoos 2 месяца назад

    What I always did was tap with a hamer on the pump. But those circulation pumps will stop working in the end because the play is to big and the magnet is not running central because the little hole were the axle runs in is getting worn out. So its just a Easy to replace by yourself. And indeed they are not expensive.

    Nice fix but doesn't sound like winding in that motor is failed and you can keep it as spare. My guess is that bushing/bearing on either end of rotor shaft failed, just enough to give motor hard time starting, with a "push" it will probably still work but obviously in this case that's impossible to be confirmed.

    The "Motor" on the water inlet is a SOLENOID VALVE! It opens and closes electrically.

    They sell de-scaling tabs you place where the detergent/pods would normally you go. They are mostly citric acid to safely eat away at the scale without harming plastics/rubbers.

      If the softener is correct adjusted, you will not have any scale in the machine.

    My condo was suppose to come and repair mine but have avoided it.... So I'm going to try and do this myself. The whirlpool dishwasher is brand new, it turns on fine, fills with water, detergent drawer opens... And then it just stops- no sounds- no washing. It will stay on and won't turn off without a manual turn off, which it then drains properly....
    With mine not making any sound, what do you think it is?

    Yes it's the worn bushings for the spindle. It's a design flaw in this type of pump.

    Eventually someone who had the excact same mulfunction as me. Question now is whether I will buy a new motor or entirelly a new dishwasher considering that a motor costs 1/4 of the entire dishwasher value )))

    Is the water going from the salt dispenser to the circulation pump? Or is dropped into the machine from the thingy on top of the salt dispenser?

      sismofytter In North America all the counters have cut outs for dishwasher but they are not integrated so a lot of home could have a nice oak looking counters and draws and a plain white dishwasher throwing it all off lol
