WOW! i’m a 74yr old, living in a lovely apartment but after 6 yrs of use, it stopped draining. I watched your video twice then got to work following your instructions. I didn’t find anything abnormal or guckky but VOILA, it now works perfectly. Thank you for saving me the costs of a plumber !!! It’s time for you to have a coffee 😊
I cater for all ages! Great news. Saved the cost of a plumber. Hope your coffee was good. We’ve got a coffee machine but I only put it on Sunday mornings.😎
Thank you for helping deal with a nightmare situation. Christmas morning and dishwasher full of water and not working. Your guide helped me find a piece of plastic jamming the impeller propeller. Thank you, a lifesaver.
Thank you!!! Fixed it myself w your great video! Took off propellor cover-- the 🗝️ to the problem. A rubber band was stuck in there & trapping other dirt. Your video saved me $119 trip fee for a service call just for someone to look at it. Did all the cleaning as you demonstrated & it's washing auto cycle quieter than it has in years.
Brother, you just saved our family a lot of money. My mom’s Miele didn’t flush the water and I fixed it in 5 min using your video. My mom thinks I’m a genius now 😂😂. Thank you!
Was having a breakdown at 4:30 in the morning when my dishwasher made the most terrifying sound and got clogged and let me tell you your vid saved me at least 250$ because of a date-seed!!! THANK YOU 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You saved my bacon watching this,I’ve only had my dishwasher 3 weeks and it wouldn’t drain water last night,so I sucked up the water (no! not me😁)using a wet hoover. And cleared it in seconds. As I speak it’s emptying so far,If it wasn’t for videos like yours on RUclips to help us ladies and Men😉we we have to fork out thousands in services. So Thankyou so VERY MUCH. Keep up the help videos as I watch all different types of DIY ones to help with whatever I have problems with.Thankyou again.
I want to add my voice to the others thanking you for this! With children a dishwasher isn’t a luxury but a necessity. Not only did you save me around £150 to get an engineer out but thanks to you I was able to immediately fix the problem on a Saturday. You are a legend! Thank you!
Thank you for the lovely comment, really appreciate it, inspires me to carry on making videos. Glad to help and that it saved you money. All the best.😎
absolute legend! Hadn’t used my dishwasher for 2 months because it was leaking so badly, After following this video I found a 2cm piece of broken glass stuck in the propeller. Now there’s not even a single drop coming out. Thanks!
Fantastic. Sorted. A piece of broken glass from a wine glass had lodged in the impeller and stopped it turning. Your video was brilliant and I am very grateful. I also used my water vac for the first time which made things easier. Will now be watching your video on dishwasher maintenance. Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant, dishwasher not working for over a week. Every other online tutorial was useless. Followed the video (enjoyed the Dalmation distraction) and removed a huge chunk of broken glass that was blocking the outlet. Problem fixed. Saved us a small fortune, hours of wasted time as well as making me feel useful.
Fabulous comment, thank you so much. So glad I was able to help out and that you found my video easy to follow. Hope there's some other stuff on my channel you may find useful one day. Thanks again for the comment and have a marvellous rest of the weekend. 😎
Thank you! Our dishwasher failed on the morning we are having a dinner party. Kinda need the dishwasher to work. You saved us! And your puppy is very cute too. So glad to have found this. You are so helpful, clear and knowledgable. Cheers!
You, my good man, have saved me from going out and purchasing a new dishwasher. For posting this video, I give you my highest regards!!! Thank You and God bless!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I removed the piece as you showed then I used my vacuum and a big straw with my fingers curled around it as an adapter. I got a decent size piece of glass out!!! You saved me so much!!!
Thank you!!! You are a lifesaver. I am Female and not very handy. I followed your instructions and was ready to give up. I took my shop vac and suctioned out The water where the propeller is, like you suggested. I heard something come through the hose. Turned out to be a piece of glass. Put everything back and ran the dishwasher. Problem solved!! Thanks again from Toronto Canada!!
Great news, guess you’ve got a chipped glass cup or bowl then somewhere! Good find indeed, glad it’s all working again and you are very lucky to live in Canada, meant to be lovely there. 😎
Thanks so much!! My dishwasher has been acting up for weeks and I’d tried a few different things to no avail. I was feeling quite stressed as I don’t have the money to repair/replace it right now. But with your very handy (and amusing!) video, along with my partners toothbrush, I discovered how to get to that little propellor thingy and sure enough there was a piece of glass in there!!! Couldn’t believe it! Saved me a bunch of money on a repair person, thanks so VERY much from Canada.
Great help and very well shot self-explanatory video. Got the job done in under 10 minutes, most of which i spent evacuating the water (half a bucket). In my case the culprit was a rubber band.
Yeh I try to keep my videos ‘bloke next door’ type videos, did think about going all flashy and more professional but I think it would lose something. Glad my video helped 😎
Awesome. Got the exact same machine and had the exact same issue. Filter was totally blocked with crud. Followed your vid and sorted what I thought was going to be a very expensive problem without it costing me a penny. Thank you so much.
Fantastic, just unblocked my parents dishwasher and saved them a fortune - tiny bit of clingfilm had got into the impeller area. Thanks for a great video. 👍
thanks for a helpful video - especially on how to remove the impeller cover - 2 or the 3 channels into my pump were blocked with lemon seeds. I also found measuring cups and a turkey baster helpful to get the water out. The dishwasher mostly drained but not completely.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I’d gotten the little white drain cover removed, but forgot how it came out and could not get it back in! I was trying to put it in sideways! Watching your video helped get it in the correct position and miraculously, my dishwasher now drains again!
I had wondered what the piece of plastic was that was stopping me from putting my filter back in. As you have the same style of dishwasher to me, I knew I'd get the answer. Thank you so much now there is no water ideally in the base of my dishwasher!
Thanks for this video, I've just moved and found the dishwasher drain full of water. Going to give this a go now! And also really handy that you added the section where you used the Finish dishwasher cleaner because I've actually just bought that exact one and wasn't quite sure where to place it in the dishwasher! Only thing I didn't like about this video was that you weren't wearing any gloves 😂😭 I probably would've thrown up if I tried to clean that clogged filter with my bare hands 🤢🤮
Little metal tag stuck around the impeller! On my Bosche unit the impeller guard needed a torx bit to remove but after that the cultrip was in plain sight. Running better than ever now, thank you sir! Wife's toothbrush now back in its usual place..
I'm probably the hundred and eleventth person to say this, but thanks a lot for this very clear and helpful tutorial - a big shard of glass was stuck in the impeller. Once out it's draining perfectly again. Your video saved me using up a favour with the landlord and taught me a little domestic maintenance. The only hard part was sourcing the right tool (torx key) to undo the security bolt on the impeller cover!
Many thanks Lurgs. All dishwashers I assume work on the same principals. Mine is a Kenwood KDW60S20. The confusing issue with me was that the F2 error came on simultaneously to the mains water being temporarily being cut off. When I followed your instructions step by step it turned that a piece of wood (like a toothpick) about 27mm had got through the filter and was stopping the impellor from working. Once removed the water drained out. You saved me €100 for a call out, many thanks
You’re going to love me after you read my comment/advise. I always put dishwasher powder/liquid not just inside the sealed lockable compartment, but most importantly also outside of it. Logically answer yourself this question, when is the detergent required the most, when the dishes are the dirtiest at the beginning of cycle or halfway through when they are already partially rinsed by just pure water? The answer is Off course when very dirty at the beginning. So I always split my dishwasher powder between sealed compartment and outside, effectively it gives your dishes a prewash. Most dishwasher actually have designated space for this reason, sometimes uncovered, sometimes under the the main flap slotted section. Frankly my “half “ of powder outside is alway bigger then locked “half”. It also has another benefit apart from cleaning your dishes better, it keeps your dishwasher’s drainage pipes clean, that’s because all this greasy stuff from initial wash is dissolved by the powder you’ve put outside of locked compartment and does not stick to the drainage. For this reason I have never ever used any of those heavily advertised “dishwasher cleaners”. You will notice it yourself when cleaning the filter (still have do it regularly, it’s compulsory), it won’t have this whitish gluey coat that is hard to remove. After 20 years of service I have replaced my old dishwasher with new one and guess what? The drainage pipe was so clean that I have not changed, just reconnected it to new machine. Another tip, when you’re installing your dishwasher, connect it to hot water supply pipe instead of cold. Don’t bother with all in one tablets or pods, always use dedicated powder/liquid and separate rinse aid. By the way rinse aid really makes the difference ton achieve spotless dry dishes. P.S. obviously I am a dishwasher freak.
Your video and instructions were very good, very clear m but the music in the background made it a bit hard to hear at the start…., but you have quite a good clear voice so luckily I heard. I do use finish every six weeks, so was gutted when we had this problem…will check it out tomorrow! 🤞🤞 many many thanks . Best wishes from Norfolk👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
You bewdy, the vacuum was the secret sauce for me thank you so much. I agree, the cup of tea put me in a good mood to start with even though the dishes were piled up everywhere and the missus is daring me to go watch the telly lol thanks so much, great share.
Thank you very much. Mine was pumping OK, but then noice was unbearable. Turns out it was a piece of glass that broke during washing few weeks ago, guess I didn't remove all the pieces and one of them got into propeller. You're life saver or should I say pump saver. Cheers from Poland
I couldn't figure out how to fix my dishwasher after watching other videos. But your video helped figure out what I was missing --- a cup of tea, my spouse's toothbrush, and a cute dalmatian.
Thank you so much for the donation, I really do appreciate it more than you know. Channels like mine don't make a lot of money so this is amazing. My last donation was about 6 months ago so thank you again.
@@LurgsHowToGuides I wish I could have donated more. Just image if the 1.3 Million people that viewed this video so far donated a dollar to you! Very sad indeed.
Thanks noticed my Bosch dishwasher made a noise when expelling water , the official Bosch vid explains how to check the impeller was confusing , yours was clear and easy to understand
Late to be fixing the dishwasher unless you are somewhere else in the World. Glad you found the fault and happy I could help out. Have a marvellous weekend. 😎
Many thanks for this video, it was a life saver. Didn’t realise how clogged my filter was. Cleaned all the components you recommended in your video and just ran a hot cycle. All water drained and the dish washer looks a lot cleaner now. Cheers for this and I have sent a Super Thanks as it’s saved me money…👍
Never put wine glasses in dishwasher, they break and tiny shards of glass lodge in the impeller, which is plastic, then the glass destroys the impeller and you get to visit the appliance store.
Thank you very much. I tried a lot of things, watched so many videos but nothing solved my problem. This morning I saw you video and I repaired everything. Such and illumination. And a well made and funny video. Thanks from Italy.
Thank you so much for this- and for sharing! 🤩 You made me take the step - and did exactly as you showed, and now my dishwasher is as good as new again! ❤🙏 🌟
Great video! Saved us couple of hundred $, was able to figure it out on my own with help of your video, didn’t need to call a professional. Thank you!!
had to pass this on to my friends, even the ones without dishwashers! Wow , start with a real cup of tea. Daisy Dalmatian at the 2 min mark. instructions easy to follow with only the stuff we all have to hand in the kitchen/bathroom.
Thanks a lot, we just followed your instructions and found a sim card blocking the propeller! No Idea how it got there, you saved us small fortune. We have subscribed.
A SIM card! Wow they are small, surely someone is missing a working phone then? Good find anyway and glad I could help. Thanks for subscribing to my channel.😎👍🏻
‘Use your partner’s toothbrush’ 😂😂😂 Thank you so much. Lady of a certain age here with a paddling pool in the bottom of my dishwasher. Followed your instructions- sorted! 🙏😘

This video came in very handy, initially thought the problem was the water inlet valve as the dishwashers water light kept burning, however I noticed the water did not drain on the cycle. Found some broken glass pieces in the drain pump, after following your advice.
Hi, thanks a ton for showing how to open that white part so clearly. I generally use the quick cycle on a regular basis on my month old siemens dishwasher & it worked great with 10-15 gm of Finish detergent. But since last 3 cycles, I have few soap suds remaining on the bottom of the dishwasher at the end of the quick cycle (the water drains away). To clear away the soap suds, after unloading the dishwasher, I tried the Prerinse cycle which runs only for 15 min. on an empty dishwasher without adding any detergent & opened it when 12 min. were left. There was soapy water inside & all the water drained away at the end of 15 min. leaving behind extremely miniscal amount of soap suds behind. I clean the outer filter very 2nd day & so its always pretty clean. I ran the Prerinse cycle again & that cleared away the soap suds totally. Seeing your video, I had the courage to open up that white part revealing the impeller inside which moved freely . There was some water below the outer filter in that hollow place inside. Is that normal? There was barely a strand & v. minute 3-4 debri particles. My vacuum cleaner doesn’t suck up water & so I just cleaned dipping a Microfiber cloth inside. Why do I have this soap suds since I haven’t changed the detergent or the type of cycle which I run? Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you once again for this demo
I should imagine the cleaning programme is too short for it to work properly. Our dishwasher standard cleaning cycle takes 2hours30mins! Try a normal programme
Thank you: very calm and thorough tutorial. I have zero DIY talent but with the help of your youtube tutorial, managed to complete the steps to solve the water not draining from my dishwasher.
Hi Lurgs, thank you for such a clear and detailed video. I’ve tried everything you have said on the video and my dishwasher is very clean and I can’t see any blockages in the pipes but the water is still not draining. Would appreciate any help you could offer please.
You are a legend sir. I was not expecting any chip but there it was a full centimeter one. Thank you for saving us 200 quids and frustration. Love you peculiar funny way
thanks for the tip....hopefully, it will work.?....dishwasher and filter were quite clean considering it was 13 years old. When i removed the plastic where the impeller is, there was a few bits of plastic wrap floating around. Ill get back to you when the dishwasher is used next.
You're a star, Lurgs - spent the afternoon trying to sort the machine - cleaned everywhere i thought i could get at - plenty of gunk but the impeller did the trick. machine worked straight away!! saveda packet
Very clear, thorough instructions, verbally and visually, except -- my under the counter Bosch does not conveniently plug in at the wall. I presume you have to pull the dishwasher out to access the plug; how do I do that? Conversely, how important is it to unplug the unit before draining the standing water and cleaning the filter (although the door latch may be, if not the problem, an additional problem, as cycle tends to stop in the middle and pick up again when you push on the door)?
Unplugging the machine is for peace of mind that there is no power to the dishwasher. You can pull it out gently to unplug or switch off your RCD switch in your fusebox if you have one for the kitchen. Once out you could put in a remote control plug so you could switch it On and Off on a remote keypad button. Good luck.
Thanks for the tips I have a Westinghouse dishwasher that keeps displaying the F2 message. With this model it’s not that easy reaching the pump. I drained the water using a water vacuum cleaner drain water very quickly. I looked through the gaps with an inspection camera and I could see hair wrapped around the pump propeller but could not reach to clean. Closed all taps drain all hoses disconnected electricity. Push dishwasher out and place it on his back. Open the bottom and released the hoses leads to the propeller clean the hair but it didn’t seem to stop the propeller from spinning. Than on the opposite side were the drain hose is there you can open this chamber just by spinning it anti clockwise quarter a spin and there I found the real cause of the problem a piece that broke from a plate. Put everything back together and dishwasher work just fine no more F2 error. Thanks for the tips.
Great video I tried all your tips & found a rubber band where the impeller is pulled that out but still doesn't drain when I reset the button it will drain the machine but not after the cycle has finished so I'm stuck with a pool of water everytime
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your kind donation, really do appreciate it.😎💵

I removed the little clip to gain access to the propeller and found a small lamb bone from last week's curry. Great video 😊

When I followed your instructions step by step it turned that a piece of wood (like a toothpick) about 27mm had got through the filter and was stopping the impellor from working. Once removed the water drained out. You saved me €100 for a call out, many thanks
Marvellous news. Glad I could help you save a bunch of cash. 😎
Thanks for the info. 😎👍🏻
Thanks alot
Your video and instructions were very good, very clear m but the music in the background made it a bit hard to hear at the start…., but you have quite a good clear voice so luckily I heard. I do use finish every six weeks, so was gutted when we had this problem…will check it out tomorrow! 🤞🤞 many many thanks . Best wishes from Norfolk👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Good luck, hope it gets sorted 😎
You bewdy, the vacuum was the secret sauce for me thank you so much. I agree, the cup of tea put me in a good mood to start with even though the dishes were piled up everywhere and the missus is daring me to go watch the telly lol thanks so much, great share.
Glad I could help out. 😎
Thank you very much. Mine was pumping OK, but then noice was unbearable. Turns out it was a piece of glass that broke during washing few weeks ago, guess I didn't remove all the pieces and one of them got into propeller.
You're life saver or should I say pump saver. Cheers from Poland
Good find! Glad it’s all working again for you and glad I could help.😎
I couldn't figure out how to fix my dishwasher after watching other videos. But your video helped figure out what I was missing --- a cup of tea, my spouse's toothbrush, and a cute dalmatian.

😃 Watched the video and you saved me from buying a new one! Thank you so much. Filter blocked a fair amount and drain hose was clogged.
Great news. Fabulous saving. Have a great weekend.😎
Thank you. Glad it all worked out. Greetings from England. 😎
Thank you so much for this- and for sharing! 🤩 You made me take the step - and did exactly as you showed, and now my dishwasher is as good as new again! ❤🙏 🌟

Thanks for sharing, glad you found it entertaining and also useful. 😎
Thanks a lot, we just followed your instructions and found a sim card blocking the propeller! No Idea how it got there, you saved us small fortune. We have subscribed.

This video came in very handy, initially thought the problem was the water inlet valve as the dishwashers water light kept burning, however I noticed the water did not drain on the cycle. Found some broken glass pieces in the drain pump, after following your advice.
Marvellous news that you found the debris and fixed it, glad I was able to help out. 😎
Thank you for the help! That cup of tea at the beginning really makes a difference.
Yeh a lovely cup of tea always helps. Glad to help. Merry Christmas 🎄😎
Fabulous news, great result. Glad to help. Happy Easter🐣 .
Hi Lurgs, thank you for such a clear and detailed video. I’ve tried everything you have said on the video and my dishwasher is very clean and I can’t see any blockages in the pipes but the water is still not draining. Would appreciate any help you could offer please.
Sounds like the pump is faulty or the impeller is still blocked with debris maybe.
My Dishwasher was not draining. Fantastic guide I drained it with a sponge, reset the appliance and what do you know good as new 👍😎
Great news, glad I was able to help and that you got it sorted. 😎
By following this video, I was able to fix my dishwasher the same day it broke down. Thank you.
Fabulous news, glad you got it fixed and that I was able to help.😎
You are a legend sir. I was not expecting any chip but there it was a full centimeter one. Thank you for saving us 200 quids and frustration. Love you peculiar funny way
Good find, glad I could help out.😎
thanks for the tip....hopefully, it will work.?....dishwasher and filter were quite clean considering it was 13 years old. When i removed the plastic where the impeller is, there was a few bits of plastic wrap floating around. Ill get back to you when the dishwasher is used next.
Love your personality and direct and specific show and tell. I drink tea too 😃
Thank you. Enjoy your cup of tea 🫖
You're a star, Lurgs - spent the afternoon trying to sort the machine - cleaned everywhere i thought i could get at - plenty of gunk but the impeller did the trick. machine worked straight away!! saveda packet
Fantastic news. Great to be able to save money and fix it yourself. Glad I could help. 😎

Nice one, just have to be a bit careful with broken glass. Glad you got it sorted and glad I could help.😎
Waar RUclips niet goed voor is. Heeft me goed geholpen. Thanks.
Thank you. Glad I could help. 😎
Good luck.
Your video really saved my ass. I followed your instructions and fixed my dish washer, you are the best!
Great news. Glad it’s all fixed and that I could help out.😎
Thanks for the tips I have a Westinghouse dishwasher that keeps displaying the F2 message.
Glad my tips helped fix it all. Great news.😎
Great video I tried all your tips & found a rubber band where the impeller is pulled that out but still doesn't drain when I reset the button it will drain the machine but not after the cycle has finished so I'm stuck with a pool of water everytime
Strange. Check it again in case something else is blocking the impeller. Then check your drainage pipework. They can get blocked up with sludge
