ford dodge and chevy owners will always fight but in the end we all hate nissan
Loooool
So much yes in this statement! Hahaha
+taylor pelletier + toyota
Nah, I posted this along time ago things have changed, he'll Toyota's and Nissan's have cummins in them now lmao dodge might as well just go outa business, the only good thing dodge has to provide is the Cummins in them and even now cummins wants to split from that shit show of a company
taylor pelletier preach
We own both exact makes models at our construction company. Dodge; engine has been replaced rear differential locked on interstate hauling 17k excavator. Ford; tires replaced twice. has actually towed dead Dodge to dealership when engine blew with the 17k excavator still hooked. we still own both trucks and used them daily. Our ford tows our excavator now on a permanent basis problem free for 129,876 miles. Do not even get me started on the two 2006 "Duracraps" we have owned. Not only do the trucks and engines in them suck but the service sucks as bad as the engineering behind them. With that said I actually expected a better result from the Ford than was depicted in the video.
Blah blah shut ap
I just bought a 2012 Ford SD King Ranch just like this one. Love it! Powerful, quiet, comfortable and an excellent in every way. I had considered the Ram HD but after doing my research the Ram always came last. Descriptions like "least powerful," "least capable," "outclassed," "worst fuel economy," "lowest GVWR," and "least options" have been used to describe the Ram HD in similar comparisons here on RUclips. I'm not saying it's a bad truck but these comparison tests influenced my decision.
of course. ford's the best..
I say like what you want. I never understood why people need to bash another person for what they drive... Or bash on a truck. And yes I know this has been going for years with the 3 trucks.. Ford, Chevy and Dodge.... Gez relax people
Research isn't going to prove witch is the better truck, you have to go and actually try it out your self and I prefer ford.
I like how everyone suddenly becomes a mechanic on the internet
@Math935 I was thinking the same thing and No its not fair because they improved the 2011 ram trucks this year. The new cummins engine has been changed a bit for hauling heavier loads.
Why is the fords rear sagging? It's supposed to be able to haul/tow more
Ford does softer supension on all there trucks for ride comfort
Kinda sucks bug easily fixed by adding bags like anyone who tows\hauls alot will invest into
all these dodge guys talk big game about their motor, but what about the trany, front end, truck in general?
exactly...only the engine is good
I had an 08 ram 3500 work truck. With a load of lumber in the 8 ft bed plus another even bigger load on the roof rack, I could barely tell there was anything back there. It hauled effortless. I easily carried 3000+ lb loads. Fun to drive too. I now have a 2011 ford but it's no cummins, miss that truck.
My dads work truck is a f-350 with a fuel saving chip. That truck pulled a mini excavator up a 15% grade mountain. Going 100 mph and going in over drive.! 6.4 Lt.
Okay I'm only going to say this once, I'm sorry if this offends some of your thick skulled beliefs but my brother works for ford as a technical engineer he works on the diesels. The ford powerstroke which ford makes, is the best and the most powerful diesel on the road plus it gets 14 mpg city and 21 hwy towing is about 10 mpg. It now has over 400 hp and over 800lb-ft of torque. They have the strongest rear ends, and the strongest transmissions to date. Oh and the reason ford keeps changing their motors is to meet the EPA's regulations, not because their idiots, y'all are the idiots not knowing what you're talking about, and who cares if your cummins is louder than my powerstroke, in my experience the cummins has always been all bark and no bite. And another thing since GM and Chrysler are now owned by the government is ford owners will never hear the end of you loudmouth, idiotic comments. Hey I I had to choose between a Dodge and a Chevy I'd walk because I'd have to anyway, they just aren't what they used to be, and since your Chevy and dodge is the best, please tell me why they Both have been bailed out by the government and ford has not. Ill tell you why just because theirs one bad seed doesn't mean they all are, and what I mean by that is ford has always lived up and proven their built ford tough moto for over 40 years and have prospered in the economy and stock market tenfold. One last fact and you can look this up if you do not believe me, when cummins first started, they wanted to make a strong diesel motor, for heavy equipment, and ford had an idea for such a thing and they sold the idea to cummins so they then sold their motors to Chrysler. Ford makes more money making their own motors than buying someone else's idea. If you don't like the facts then you'll get over it. I'm saying all this with no bad intentions, I'm honestly sick of hearing Chevy and dodge are the best fuck ford. Every time I hear it, it makes me want to hit that person with a sledgehammer so hard they can't ever speak again.
true dat...
My brotha
I got a 2011 f250 gas and a 2008 f250 powerstroke..plan on keepin em for life💪
I would rather have a ram I personally think it's better
@duckanddodge01 I could be wrong on this, but based on the article in Motor Trend referencing the same test I believe they wanted to put the new Ford against the reigning Truck of the Year, which was the 2009 Ram.
My two favorite trucks!
Where is the Chevy in all this? Must have ran deep somewhere lol
chevy is in the garage.....got recalled again, baaahahahahaaa
Yep
well had my dodge now for a week, got 200 miles on it already,17.4 mpg just drivin around in a town, cant wait to see what this cummins is gonna give me on my trip to Montana.......
You have the factory alpine system in your dodge?
as far as I know, the sound is very good, but I realy don't listen to radio....im assuming that's what the alpine is?lovin the cummins so far.....if I didn't have a bum shoulder id have gotten the manual shift, but alas....don't shift as smooth as it could but not to noticeable.....
Powerstroke for life, baby!!!!!
***** the 3500 vs 2500 lol it took ford a class bigger to beat a dodge
+James Flores
you're just mad dodge lost. Ford trucks are great. My favorite being the 05-07 6.0. Own three of them for my excavation company and they are absolutely amazing
***** 03-04 6.0 suck tho before ford revised them and no they suck the modern ones blow turbos burn oil and than blow engines my dads mechanic says ford "keeps his family fed' his exact words search up "what powerstroke is best" a vid i watched said 'international built a 150,000 throw away engine' so your words arnt convincing me its an opinion based on life experiences my neighbor had an 03-04 powerstroke sucked ass always broke and cold starts were shit thats bc i live in border town tx meanwhile since i was about 6 my grandfather got an 03 cummins at an auction and hasnt had any major probs aside from the vibrations and that truck is still on the road after all the abuse on the farm
you will be fine, enjoy your new truck. We had a bad cold spell in NJ and it got down between -5 and +5 degrees Fahrenheit for a week and that is when they cracked according to the service manager at the local Ford dealer.
I work on a farm/ranch and the only diesels I have ever worked with has been the older 7.3 diesel engines of fords that they had for a while. We haven't upgraded due to not having enough money to do it.
Ram 2500 vs f-350 AND ford model a year newer. That's why I prefer dodge. Even this guy knew to make it a fair challenge you had to give something smaller. And even then it was a very close match anyway. Dodge for life!
Fuck you
Toby Goolsby good job at making a good argument, im proud to be in the same species class as you
+daniel massot
dodge sucks compared to ford
***** it's funny you say that because in this video they compare a ram 2500 to an f350...and it's only just beat it...to make it a fair fight they had to go for something weaker from ram
+daniel massot
how about you learn something. Who cares that its a 2500, the engine is the same. bigger frame big deal? Haha
more power from dodge its a faster truck by far and looks way better
+Steven Hooten you know why they buy from cummins, because cummins make THE BEST and most realiable Diesel engines in the world, except for CAT
Not true the 7.3 can last as long and pull just as much as the cummins the 6.7 is not known well enough to say anything
+Steven Hooten well yeah but thats like comparing a 12 valve cummins to an LML Duramax. Old and proven to last, versus new and yet to prove anything. I must say i am impressed with the 6.7 once all that emissions crap is removed though.
Spineshot25 ask any real truck driver and they will tell you cummins is towards the bottom of the list on reliable diesels when it comes to semi's they usually run up to 700,000 before you have a problem and cat can usually go 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 before anything major is needed done usually
My dad has driven 4 different cat operated Petes all almost in the 2,000,000 mile range one needed work at 900,000 other three 1,300,000 mile range one was at 1,800,000
@IVandySoft i'm glad you agree.........
was his truck a road princess? i drive offroad and i have had to replace the sway bar etc on my dodge ram 1500 2000 which is expected because im off roading. but of course road princess trucks aren't going to as many repair costs as a person who takes it off roading etc.
I work for a heavy haul / hot shot trucking company.. by Far the our Ford's trucks out pull the Dodge 3500, just this year we have had to replace 2 Trans and 3 rear ends and 4 set of ball joints and 1 transfer case and 1 blown engine, on the our Dodge fleet. Our Ford Fleet is running strong, without any major problems. We pull on a everyday bases per truck 10k to 19k and some even up to 21k pound loads and about 3000 miles each week per truck. Happy Hualing..JS
love ford as well.. ever since our first f150/bronco we havent wanted a different truck.. driving a 2000 f150 currently with the 5.4l v8.. may be underpowered but for the year it was good! love the truck except milage but it is also a truck... we can tow way over what the limit is supposed to be and this truck just keeps kicking! love it! Next truck is gunna be a 6.7 or 7.3 diesel... hopefully we will get that one soon!
Ford changed to a steel pan on the later 2012 6.7 diesels. The plastic pans crack in the very cold weather from the expansion & contracting of the heat created by the engine. Check the service bulletins on your truck. I always have the dealer check all the bulletins on a used vehicle when I buy one. I am serious about the Armoral, it wouldn't hurt!
They are only 340# lighter, if you haven't seen the Car&Driver comparison you should check it out. It's one of many write up's where the GM's are proving to come out on top. The breaking test they did was with a fully loaded trailer 70-0 stop and the GM stopped 48' shorter.
Hey Motor Trend, that was a nice little plug you did for Ford! Hopefully they paid well.
M Bro hahahaha
@jjizabeast1
what does the 09 have to do with anything? and actually yes, there is a change in between the 2009 and the 2010 was the first year of the newest generation for the 2500..
My 95 dodge 5.9l cummins turbo diesel just turned over 300,000 miles! Never have I heard someone with a ford outpull that truck or had to not have a major repair on it. That truck has had a 2800 lb trailer with a 7500 lb skid loader hooked up, and still pulled a ford mustang out of the ditch, in winter, without having to be chained up. Maybe it was a good day but id like to see any other truck do that. (forgot to mention: it's all stock)
my dad has drove a lot of things and as far as big trucks he said the cummins just couldnt last that long but he said he had a mac with a detroit in it and when he sold it it had 1 million miles on it and it was still getting the job done
Do you know how easy it is to fix leaking oil? Also do you know what grease does?
@pistonkiller7 i don't think it is,this is a motor trend's video and the hd chevy won their truck of the year for 2011 so makes sense to me lol
@NikolaisoPaladino I didn't realize that, good to know though. Honestly the Cummins engine is a great engine so I guess I can see some people wanting it inside of a great truck =-)
@Bigalexander52 this comparison sounded very un-biased to me, so i think this is one legit win for ford
THANK YOU I JUST PROVED THIS TO MY FRIEND!!!!
@motikaful It is built everywhere. It is assembled in America. Most vehicles are assembled in the country the buyer is in, anyway.
@bhrodeoaz the ultimate truck would be a superduty with allison trans and option of 6.6l dmax and 6.7l. Although it cant keep up in hp fb i got to love the 7.3l
@Fx4Ranger2002 Every company has a vehicle that does not last as long as some others, My friend had a 1997 Ford Ranger and the engine blew up and had to be replaced. He now has a 2005 Dodge Ram hemi. With vehicles as old as ours maintenance is more key than anything.
ya for a stock truck or lightly modified truck the G56 is fine, shifts like a knife though butter for being a truck trans. but when it really gets some power thrown to it and some abuse they just cant hold up and the case flexes
EXACTLY!
@KillNSpillOj I agree with you. I have a 1969 Ford F250 and I absolutely love it,
Well... because it gives the opportunity for Dodge to say exactly that... We lose it because it was a 2010 ! Did you hear the guy in the video ? ... no modification this year... So it was the same that a 2011. Cummins is a very good engine but Ford with the 6.7 is a better combo to my point of view... :)
@williamlewis61 well that would make some sense. except that the ram 1500 was 2009 truck of the year, the ram "heavy duty" (2500) was truck of the year in 2010, and the chevy silverado is truck of the year in 2011.
so it still doesn't make any sense in this video? lol
I test drove a lariat with tan interior. It was beautiful.
and heres me doing all this stuff with my 89 Silverado with the 350SBC
that Chevy you have may kill you...
Its a possibilities but same with all trucks and cars, hit something fast enough and you will die.
Both are very nice trucks.
It crazy how hard ford had to try to make the 6.7powerstoke quieter if you ever heard one with no sound dampening tech they are wicked loud alot louder than the 6.7cummins
lets face it both are good trucks it really comes down to personal taste and what you want to be riding in. If your a loyalist each company is offering good trucks to go with if your a little more open minded you have two awesome trucks to choose from and three if you include gm.
@Rangeroversport12
Agreed man, all are good trucks.
So the 5 cyl powerstoke in the transit has more torque than 6 cyl VM?
Look up the Ford F550-F750 Ford body, Cummins engine and Allison trans. Yes it cost a shit ton but what would it cost to get all three trucks and then custom fit them together?
Both are excellent trucks. For most it's a matter of amenities, style and looks and what they are accustomed to. My Dodge serves me well. I chose it because there is a dealer here in town whereas for Ford I would have to go into Las Vegas for service, 60 miles away. I believe anyone would happy with either.
Hi,
Right now (9/13/2012) in Puerto Rico diesel price is $1.07 per litre or $4.04 a gal.
Great comparison. I have owned both Dodge 5.9 & 6.7 and Ford 7.3, 6.0, & 6.4 diesels...is the Ford $6k-8k better than the Dodge? And the Dodge comes with 100k warranty. Like 'em both just trying to make the best decision on the next one based on ROI.
Man I love motor trend
Everyone has their own opinion and they're entitled to it, it's all about your family up in Michigan, lol they ask two questions u of m, or msu, and ford, chevy, or dodge 😂 they all have their issues and their strong points.
@Littlewizardqu3f How is the Ram better for towing if the Ford has a better towing weight?
@traindriver761 actually they have 800 as well
AMO A MI RAM
nice Trucks
You're correct. However the bailouts of GM and Chrysler occurred in 2008 while Ford received a loan, little bit different than a bailout, in mid-2009. But yes, Ford did stand on its own and they deserve respect for that.
Coming from a person who actually knows what they are talking about, being as I worked at Ford in Louisville Kentucky ( where the super duties are made ) along with my Dad who has worked there for over 20 years now, these trucks are beautiful and the Super Duty have outperformed these trucks in my experience. Don't get me wrong the Dodge truck is an amazing truck but I just like the Ford body style better maybe it's just because I grew up around Ford trucks but I like the Ford Truck better.
Normally smoothness in a transmission is achieved through slippage which equals shorter life. But I think price would be my deciding factor.
you got that right!
Jasper rep that comes in my father's shop already sold two 6.7 powerstrokes.Went bad and Ford would not cover them under warranty.I have been hearing the 6.7 powerstroke is blowing up already.
@jipi0001 no sir the chevys not there cause it broke down on the way
I have a 2013 f-250 lariat power stroke 400hp kills it pulling my 5th wheel down the road. Im getting up to 19.3 mpg and 14mpg towing.
yes, they are.
Answer me this. Why do people only swap cummins engines into chevys and fords?
and not powerstroke into ram? My friends dads F350 had a fuel pump go out after 20k and thats pretty bad if you ask me.
I live in western Montana where half the time we are climbing mountains to get wood for the winter, and the other half we are on flat farmland hauling thousands of pounds of hay in both the bed and on a trailer. Every once in a while we are on a long drive on the pavement... All I have to say is Ford is rare. Dodge is seen sometimes. You can't go for more than a mile without seeing Chevy's everywhere.
California isn't the only state with strict diesel smog laws... Arizona, Connecticut, Colorado, New York, Nevada, Tennessee, Utah, Wisconsin. Each of those states has certain counties that only requires smoggin upon change of ownership, but those states mainly are very strict on diesel emissions.
Attn Dodge engineers: Fix the steering, front end and transmission and you will have the ultimate truck... Get it together!!
Why dont you give power numbers for the engine in the dodge?
Yes
@D13fledermause That's a good thing.
Tell ya what... You like what you like. My family has owned/driven/worked FORD my whole life and it's what we know. EVERY truck has had good years and bad ones just like we do.
@69zekes Was it out yet?
no exhaust brake mention?
I've owned both trucks w/diesel. The dodge 250 was fast and a powerful hauler ( also had an 8 foot bed).. Drove like a truck, bumpy, not eye candy, etc. 23 MPG.
Friend of mine took me thru his orange orchards in his Ford and I fell in love with it. So my F250 Super Duty Rancher( 6 foot bed) rides like a car, and has a quieter diesel & only has 750 miles on it as I type this but 16 MPH.Does NOT have the Dodge pick-up speed and does NOT feel as powerful. Oh, both trucks are 4 x 4's.
All about brand allegiance when you get trucks that start towing over 22,000 lbs. I would have liked to see a real test of towing in this though, since my 99' Trooper can tow what they were towing.
look up the tow ratings for each truck. 2014 ford f350 has a max tow of 23,200 lbs and the 2014 chevy silverado 3500hd has a max tow of 23,100 lbs and the 2014 ram 3500 has a max tow of 30,000 lbs so i think ram wins this
i like ford and the new looks and the engine for the superduties. im not a big fan of an inline-6 cylinder diesel engine but the looks of the ram look pretty nice.
@CalcityAirsoft The 6.0 had issues in its early days... Ford later worked them out... newer 6.0s are fine.
not to rain on your parade at all as I have a lot of respect for cummins, I have seen one 7.3l go 735,000 miles(I wish I had pictures to prove it), I will admit, I still see a lot more older cummins than powerstrokes and I personally am a powerstroke fan. It's always a good day when you can go that far on a engine!
My uncle put 45000 miles on his 97f350 dually in less than one year, towing a 18000 pound horse trailer to idaho back and forth. no mechanical problems whatsoever. ford engines, with good care, can go as long as dmax's, maybe longer.
I also know this because my dad has been a mechanic since he was 25. he turns 52 this year. He tells me he sees more dmax's than powerstrokes.
and if you dont beleive me about my uncle, i can send pics of the trailer, truck, AND mileage if u want.
Peace
There is really no point in arguing over which truck is better. Most people that buy trucks are loyal to that brand no matter what. All trucks have their ups and downs, anyway.
@thugeater69 if "it's all about that Chevy", then where is it?
Ya the old superdutys had problems thats why the 6.0 and 6.4 turbo diesels are known as PowerChokes
Although, there is that video of the VW Touareg pulling a 150 tonne plane...
@1stgencumminspower I haven't read down enough to know what you are responding too, but you are making some odd statements here. First of all the Ford diesel's version of engine that goes into a large truck (firetrucks, semi's, etc) is the International, it is a different engine for a different job. As a diesel mechanic I can also tell you that the cummins that goes into a rig is MUCH different than the one in a pick-up for the same reason the PS and Int'l are different.
Everyone in high school says that they want a sports car, but what's the point? I'd rather have one of these without a doubt.
If you payed attention at 1:40 it says International use to own Ford's Power Stroke but now it is being made by Ford.
HELL YEAH UR RIGHT!!
They obviously haven't had enough time to experience the aftertreatment problems that 6.7s are having. The DPF causes a shit ton of problems and it effects the Cummins more than any other diesel for whatever reason. My buddies parents own Swift Dodge in Davis, CA and I can't tell you how many 6.7s come back with emissions control related issues. They USED to be good before the emissions hit and CAN be good without the emissions equipment. But out of the box, it's currently the most troublesome.
I do, I work on diesels everyday. I work on anything from 2wd 7.3 F250 Super Duty pickups all the way up to FL70 heavy dutys with the 8.3 ISC Cummins. Sit down and don't even bring that subject up again, I guarantee I get my hands dirty way more than you do.
At an Auto Auction, people are getting rid of their junk. That's why you see more people on the road keeping and driving their Ram trucks with a smile on their face. Great performance and the best looking truck. I give Ford kudos for being the only manufacturer that did not take a government handout. I owned GM trucks and love the allison transmission but won't buy from Government Motors after they screwed the stockholders and gave half ownership to the union.
muy buenas las dos caminetas me gustan ambas
cool trucks
