Lariat 4x4 crewcab gas for $32,838....plus only 5,100 for the diesel option. Man those were the days. You dont realize how lucky/ good off that you have it until it is gone.
in 2024 dollars that's $52,807 and $61,009 for the diesel. Now you know how much we're getting screwed by current truck prices. Govt regs and all that probably added 50% of that cost and dealer markups got the rest...
237,000 miles on my 2005 6.0 Auto 4x4 CC with 9,000 idle hours. In the family since new, this truck was used on the huge family farm 16 hours a day non-stop. 1 set of injectors(only 2 were "bad"), 1 turbo cleaning, 1 oil cooler and EGR cooler, everything else is still original and it has towed many heavy tractors and many heavy 5th wheel loads of cattle...
Adjusted for inflation the lariat 4x4 crew cab gas would now be equivalent to $51,000 today. The diesel with the addon of 5,100 back then, would now be equivalent to $59k in todays dollars.
They still did have quite a few issues though such as the location of the FICM being slapped against the block and heat being it's worst enemy. Even to those who properly maintained the truck have head gasket issues. The oil cooler would also leak and mix coolant and water but was rare as long as it wasn't a knockoff cooler. You can find them cheap today stick another $10k in completely rebuild and upgrade the 6.0 and maintain it will it can last.
We had one in the fleet that was religiously maintained still spent most of its life in the shop. Still had endless issues after completely bull proofing it. I certainly wouldn't describe them as "great" engines
Hell yeah, I love my 2006 F250 6.0, it is a workhorse that can tow a lot. When not towing I get 20-22 mpg hwy. While towing a 7000 lb 30 ft travel trailer I get 9-10 mpg.
I have a 2004 that I use for business and it’s never had an issue other than the alternator going out at 130k miles. I do regular maintenance and it’s bone stock. I don’t try and race the thing. But I tow and do long trips with it. I guess it’s hit or miss with these things.
I wouldn't trust a gas engine for a heavy duty pickup like this. Add a coolant filter, pay attention to your fluids and temps, EGR delete, turbo back exhaust and your good.
why...? gas motors have been doing it longer than diesels... with the 6.0l its more of take care of it and it will take care of you. ANY diesel of 2003-2010 has MANY issues due to the stupid ass EPA laws put in place in 2003 then getting more stupid as it went till 2011 where we have our current laws and the 6.7l powerstroke 6.7l cummins and 6.6l duramax have no issues like past models. although the price tag is a complete ripoff.
***** well that depends, if you want power out of the engine than yes its a must but other than that not really but everyone does it cause who tf doesnt want more power? :D
+me2456 haha exactly so its a must. might as well ya know. Kids around here buy chips and max it out to insane mode then the thing is choking on itself a few months later. can the injectors get messed up by forcing them to dump more fuel than they should? or by adding offload diesel or hydraulic fluid etc? ? Thanks
***** well you change injectors to do what you need of them, everything you do no matter the truck something else will break, anything that can go wrong will go wrong, just be ontop of it when you first see a difference in performance
6.0 is only a garbage engine for those who don’t know how to maintain it, and run it into the ground. There are plenty of these engines, if left stock and not abused, that have had few problems.

$61,000 for the diesel. those trucks go for upwards of 100k now. that's a 40k difference...

I love my 2007 6.0L 368,2040km and it's still going strong
People on here saying 6.0s are junk. Are the same people cutting corners and tuning them or not maintaining them. They are actually great motors.

Yes
The 3 valve 5.4 was a disaster. But I like the 6.8 V10
Right? The V-10 was as durable as they come, you could abuse the shit out of them and they'd keep on screaming
Man.... What I would do to have a 2007 f350 with 927 miles on it, that would be amazing!!!
O5 f350, only 138k on her.
The best never rest...
