Just purchased a " new to me " 2013 2500 Chev. They are right, not much to brag about inside. However, to see how this thing performs is truly awesome. Duramax baby.
I've been working Canadian oil field for 20+yrs and have worked for companies that ran Dodge, others that ran Chevy and Ford. All were treated the same way...driven hard and abused for 60 to 80K per year. There's only one reason I've got a Super Duty in my driveway...they lasted while the others failed miserably end of story!
When it all comes down to it you have to drive each one to its max to see the greatest potential each truck has. I drive a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD with the 6.6L Durmax Diesel and the 6 speed Alliston Trans. Let me tell you i have compared all 3 trucks myself pulling a 40 foot flatbed gooseneck trailer with 40,000 lbs total gvwr and over the long haul Chevy by far out does any other truck. In my opnion its ability to haul that much weight daily is unmatched by anyother.
@@cz2563 Yeah it did. Can’t believe it’s been 11 years since the 6.7 PS came out… has turned out to be a very reliable engine indeed. Who woulda thought?!?
Ford makes a hell of a Diesel...but their 5.4s were simply weak. I owned 2 Fords. 1 with a 351w...Awesome bulletproof and the 5.4 was a problematic child with coil pack and spark plug issues.
The Chevy SIlverado 2500 by far had the opportunity to drive all three as well and agree that it is KING OF THE HILL!! Has amazing Durablity and handling.
I haul rock the same way that the test was done. I run a 2001 Dodge with a V10 and automatic, and consistently load 6 tons of rock in the same kind of trailer. Sometimes, in a pinch, I have hauled 8 tons of 3/4-0 and still got the job done. The road out of the pit was 10% to 12% grade on gravel. Towing on the road feels creepy and you need to drive like your driving on ice. The truck I used for the job was ligh and uncharistic for the task but I still got the job done. Before I give you my opinion I want you to know I also have over 30 years truck driving experience in everything from log trucks to mixers to multiple trailer heavy haul. Here's my opinion; (granted, it's just an opinion). I believe the Ram has the best drive train. 6 cylinder diesels in my opinion provide the best low end torque. 6 cylinder diesels usually help you turn the wheels slowly with the highest level of torque, which generally equates to better starting traction and control and drivetrain protection if the truck is driven properly. This is one reason why there are almost no new American big rigs with 2 stroke V8 diesels any more. The big V8's were really fast on the road but if you hit ice and snow or dirt or mud and we're under heavy load the engine and the wheels would spin too quickly which could cause loss of traction, sometimes resulting in damaged or broken components like axles, trannies and driveshafts etc. Also the noise that V8 diesels produced were another reason why they are not generally used. The noise was also a health hazard. Today Manufacturers employ specially designed injectors and sequential fuel injection to lessen the noise of primary diesel ignition. If you pull off road in rock, sand, mud or on really steep "marbly" ground the Ram is the best choice I think. If the work you do is on road and you pull say a large 5th wheel travel trailer or a heavy toy hauler I would choose the Chevy because it steers well and has awesome dynamic braking from the Allison transmisson. The Duramax diesel, though really complex has lots of power and is most charistically like gasoline engine performance. I believe the Ford however has the best cab and chassis. Nobody can dispute the ruggedness and reliability of the twin "I" beam and coil or leaf sprung front suspension that Ford has built for over half a century. Ford also manufactures it's own diesel engine, (It pulls like an old Detroit so be prepared to keep your toes in the turbo when workin' hard on the blacktop), also the Ford front seats are second to none. So here's my opinion: if you're logging, mining or farming get the Ford or the Dodge Ram. For recreational towing on the road or if there are long distances between your job sites get the Ford or the Chevrolet. Finally, pickups have been in American culture since the buck - board wagon. I believe Americans build the best all around trucks in the world of any size. Europeans and Asians have been playing catch up to American truck deaign and manufacture for more than 50 years. No matter which the three trucks you choose you'll certainly have the best in the world.
That seems in line with the golden rule for big diesel pickups: -If you want a truck that rides like a car and don’t plan to use it as a serious work vehicle, get a Chevy. -If you want a truck that’s a little more capable that does both real work and recreation, and don’t mind a slightly tougher ride, get a Ford. -If you want a truck that can carry two pallets of bricks in the bed and don’t mind a rough ride when it’s empty, get a Dodge.
I own a 2012 3500 duramax, it's got 170,000kl on it now and it still pulls like the day I got it new! just did the brakes and it didn't really need it but I wanted to service them and only replaced the front pads, this truck is almost maintenance free! Change the oil add a little def and use it! NO OTHER ISSUES YET ! I pull alot of trailers and the engine brake is great, just love my GMC
Elm No, that’s his opinion. You also have yours. When words like that fall out of your ass, it says more about you than the person you’re trying to insult.
I have had a pretty good experience with all of these trucks although none of them were the same year I have always had a better experience with the chevy siverado my mom's ford f 150 broke down at 123,000 miles and is now driving my chevy which has over 300,000 miles and is a 1 ton pickup chevy never seems to disappoint me.
I beat the hell outta my 6.6 D max LML. Damn thing never misses a beat! I pull a 16ft trailer with about 8000lbs. I sling that thing around like a rag doll!
Just seen this video, and after reading all the comments. It looks like I made a wise choice going with my Chevy. Bought it in 2021 with only 92k and love driving it.
My problem with all three is the affordability factor. I'd have to go back quite a few years in models to be able to afford one to do the job I need it to do.
I own the chevy and I love it. It's fast and rides very nicely even with 35" tires on it. yes the interior is alot of plastic, but over the last 3 years not a thing has broken. Can't say the same for Ford. The door panels come loose after awhile.
To each their own, gentlemen. Mine is the ford king ranch diesel. Everything feels just right when I'm towing the 12k lb camper, uphill and down. The roomy and super comfortable interior really makes a difference on the long adventures, and that's what they've overlooked in their tests. A truck is not just for working around town. If you're the adventure type, make it a FORD.
As a retired truck driver, all I can say is that I wish Caterpillar never had pulled the plug on it's road engines. I wish they could have brought something to the table when Dodge got the Cummins. But back then, GM had Detroit Diesel and Allison. It would have been a conflict of interest. I remember two Petes that were equipped with 8v71s and 5&2s. Those were a blast to drive. Something about those roots blowers. Sounds like your drivin' a wound-up raped ape top fuel dragster all day long. CATs are luggers with a passion, Cummins have to run around 2k or else, they get hot when you lug 'em. By the way, you don't really need all that power to move that much weight. With low gearing and a lot of gears, you can move a lot of weight with less than 200hp. Sure, you won't be Mario Andretti but the load will get to it's destination. It's all in the gearing. A well designed frame can be lightweight and flexible. Heavy duty solid axles such as the Dana 60 and 80 can put up with a lot of abuse. I've got a 21 year old Chevy C1500 with a short-bed with the V6, 5 spd and 3:42 axle. Bought it new in Dec. '93 By no means a competitor with the trucks in this comparison test, which isn't saying much, but it's had 2000lbs in the bed and can move a whole machine shop. I know because I've done this. Takes a little extra time, and few extra trips, but it can be done. I get about 22 mpg. For the most part, it's been a faithful truck.
test these trucks for 250k miles loaded with 12000lbs day in day out, up and down hills, extreme cold and heat then tell me which one should be "king of the hill." Honestly im not biased towards any of them, i love the big 3 and they all have there pros and cons and they all do better in one category than the other. I think they could all learn something from each other in designing and engineering their trucks. Dodges biggest downfall is the computer programming for the engine and transmission (imho) in there vehicles, gas or diesel.
The Comparison is very good... I would like them to make another similar video but with the 2023 versions and that the tests were tougher and also on off road... Best regards from Guatemala, the country of Eternal Spring 👍👍👏👏
The Chevy is only 330LBS Lighter than the Ford not a 1,000, the video gave us the numbers all we had to do was the math. And even though Chevy and GMC are the same thing, theres no such thing as a Denali for Chevy. The Denali only exists in the GMC brand.
Yeah, they needed to put a GMC up there. General Motors runs their company different, they have different name brands for different products that they make. For example if you want pure luxury you get a Caddy, if you want a Luxury work truck / SUV you get GMC, If you want a nice but simple of any of the 3, be it a car, truck, Suv, then you get a Chevy. But for like Ford you can get just whatever package you want and it still has a ford logo on it. It's just General Motors compartmentalizes their packages into different name brands.
I don't own a diesel truck personally because i have no need for one, for any towing i do a 1/2 ton does just fine. I have a Chev simply because it was the one i liked most when test driving. As far as the diesel trucks go, i work in a shop that does work for a lot of fleets, most of them run Ford F450s and F550s mostly, but most of them own Chevs and Dodges as well. The Fords are in the shop constantly for a variety of issues, where as the Chevs and Dodges are usually only seen at the shop for regular maintenance and brakes from time to time. Now a lot of the companies i've noticed their new trucks are mostly Dodges, Chevs, or those Mercedes Sprinter things, which are worst than the Fords.
+Adam LeBlanc And that's the kind of data that never lies. As a mechanic I pay attention to that stuff as well. Another reason Ill never own a minivan and chrysler ones in particular. lol Those transmissions are a joke.
Ive driven all 3, and honestly its a tie between all for me. The cummins has that rumble I love, and you can feel the whole truck shaking from it and was torque-ey I guess. The ford felt the most powerful and was roomy but I hated how quiet it was, it felt like I was driving a gas truck and it felt wrong, and im not a big fan of powerstroke because of their bad rep. The chevy rode the best and handled well, and was just fun to drive. Im getting a truck soon and I cant decide because theyre all great trucks. Im sure ill be happy with whatever I choose.
I've owned a 2002, 2007 and 2012 dodge. worked them hard , and to be honest they held really good. but i recently switched to a duramax and wow. I own a 2013 and 2014 can't complain at all. lot of bottom end and upper end torque and getting a hundred + miles more out of a tank. I'm not bias what ever works the best that's what I'm going with and so far I think I'll stick with the duramax
There’s a reason majority of the worksites around here have the super duty all over them ranging from super old to brand new and the chevys are usually driveway queens.
I drive a F-650 14 ton wrecker with the 5.9 Cummings. I love it. Pulling all day and night she'll ride out. I tow anything from a car to a road tractor. It's got the power!!!! Now we got a 13 ram 5500 carrier and it's a awesome truck!!! Be a hell lot better without the damn DPF/DEF !!!! Thanks govt
Got my first 2000 chevy 1500 when I got out of school in 98 had 67,000 ls. now Has 224,765 on dash. and am 35 years old. still run like the day I got it and only spend 1,200 it's not the prittyest but it's my baby still wont change for any thing else
Duramax and Alison lasts the longest, the cummins is good but once you get Banks kits on them, they all make around the same hp and torque, the Alison lasts the longest of all the transmissions.
I currently drive a 2013 Silverado 2500HD and I've towed up to13,000 Lbs. with that Beast and have had zero issues. I've owned a dodge in the past and really liked the truck however the transmission and gearing (in my opinion) are not setup to handle the out of power that the dodge engines put out.
I have owned all three! A Dodge, Ford and a Chevy! Guess which one I still have.... CHEVROLET!! 6.6L Duramax SRW! That allison trani is legit! I pull a 22'ft deck over trailer with it and load it with materials! It's a beast on the road!
Where do you evaluate the turning radius on each truck? This is critical when you arrive and have to park a huge trailer or fifth wheel into a crowded campground site.
Dodge: cummins engine proven to be reliable, transmission will need to be replaced over time depending on what you tow and when you tow are you heavy on the fuel pedal,DO NOT chip the cummins with the factory transmission Ford: has a terrible history, the all new truck yet to be proven. Chev/GMC: the duramax has been proven to me over time to be reliable and the allison transmission is also reliable I used to be a ford guy through and through now my shadow will never darken the door of a ford dealership I own the 2008 dodge 3500 cummins mega cab 4x4 single wheel and really like the looks over the other two i use it for pulling a mini excavator with a 30 foot goose neck trailer from day one, at 213 000 km I had to put in a new transmission, this was no big deal to me as I was put through the ringer with a 2004 f350, anyhow at the dealership they had a transmission in their parts room for the dodge, in a small town, so this tells me that its a common thing for tranny's to eat their pigs alot, so at 213 000km's all i needed was to replace the transmission no big deal, I like my dodge and am gonna use it for as long as I can pulling 16000lbs , with witnessing other people in the the dirt moving industry the chev/Gmc seem to be the most reliable truck so next truck i get is gonna have the duramax teamed up this allison!!
Ford all the way but gm is my second pick but dodge way at the bottom. And I bet the guy in the f-250 let off so you guys could make the silverado look good!
No because my friends 2013 f-250 platinum raced my friends 2013 chevy silverado 2500hd with campers that were both 10,000lbs and the super duty won no problem so super duty hands down.
I have been a Chevy man the last 17 years. Though the interior has not changed to terribly much, and does not have all the flash, the exterior, the engine, and all around capabilities of the Chevy over the Ford and Dodge is exactly what makes me a Chevy fan.
The Ford's new 6 Speed Torque shift is by far the best transmission. H&S blew up the Allison with 450 hp. The Torqueshift held 884 hp and 1600 ft lbs of torque and still drove home.
+Jude Greco I own an F250 xlt 4x4, but components in the engine cost too much to fix in so little time of owning the truck. Like the spark plugs break off... $2,500 fix. The knocking noise because at 60,000 miles or so the phasers start knocking. Another $2,500 plus job... I'm going with Chevy on my next purchase, and I will be warning my friends about the problems. Ford seems to deny any issues, but paid out millions in suit. They only want to pay me $1,200 for a $2,500 service job to remove the heads to get to spark plugs. If it would have went to a dealer it would have costed $4,000 plus. Ford get your shit together you lost one customer...
the only think chevy has going for them is their Allison transmission, thats literally it. ford has the power, dependability, and even the most sales out of every truck company out there.
im sorry power and most sales maybe but dependability? if something has to be said ford hasnt been able to find its base engine since the 7.3l in about a decade and a half, ford has gone thru 4 different engines because each has been a slight problem while cummins has only had 2 engines and chevy 1 since 2001(could argue 2 if you want to say the 2000 diesel)
Never said it was, I was questioning why it says they use pushrod when I thought I was sure they didn't. Ford have been using DOHC for a while, hence why the other trucks are gruff and the F series is quiet and refined.
I personally love my 2013 king ranch, I had a 2010 Silverado 1500 z71 and I used it to pull my 7k pound center console to Florida and at only 23,000 miles it lost all oil pressure and 4th gear, I will never own another Chevrolet. I can't speak for the ram but I absolutely love my ford
I can't believe I'm saying this , all my life I've been A Chevy man , but when it comes to the 3/4 ton trucks, I would go for the ford every time. It's just such a solid truck, you can't beat it. There's a reason why it costs more than the others.
I've owned 4 GM's, and 2 Ford's. Every single GM needed Significant Repairs (Major Suspension work, Electronic failures, Water Pumps (yes, plural) Alternators (yes, plural) and One Complete Rear End failure) totaling an Average of $3,500 each at between 90-110k miles. At 200-250k miles, they were Done. Not worth sinking the money into any more. Both Ford's are still on the road, and haven't needed anything I would consider Significant, albeit they did need Some repairs (2 Alternator, 2 Water Pump, Belt Tensioner, 3 Wheel Bearings). One has 262k and one has 356k with the latter needing the transmission replaced at around 210k.. THE most reliable vehicles I've ever bought. I wouldn't hesitate to (and do) drive the 262k one on long trips.. The 356k one is relegated to local use, as probably any vehicle over 300k would be, if the owner was smart (or at least get roadside assistance). All were properly maintained, and not abused. Never again, am I Ever buying a GM Product.
Have 2012 Ford f350 has 325000 miles and I have pulled 26000 lb through the west Virginia mountains at 320000 miles I had trouble with the turbo for my money I have a truck with low maintenance cost
+Raymond Sweeney I own an F250 xlt 4x4, but components in the engine cost too much to fix in so little time of owning the truck. Like the spark plugs break off... $2,500 fix. GM does not warranty frames on their trucks,so when your desperado's frame go's high sierra on you,(leaves you high and dry GM style)on a brand new truck it will be a rough ride that GM will not take on.Its just you and it.
+George GMC Sierra Denali They don't warranty their frames because GM KNOWS that's the weakest part of their trucks, frames are suppose to flex,GM's don't,they just break and that's it.They are being SUED over this issue too, further proving GM FAILS at standing behind their JUNK.FORD WINS AGAIN...40 YEARS STRAIGHT!.
+George GMC Sierra Denali This comparison sucks, the Ford weighs well over 1,000 pounds more(dry weight)over the Dodge and nearly 2,000 pounds more then the light duty GM trucks. These types of trucks are not engineered for speed, its about being able to handle dead-weight well and to be able to pull well.Ford WINS AGAIN!.
+George GMC Sierra Denali G-M-C...G-arbage, M-ade,in China(parts are imported from China on these G-generically-M-made-by-C-Chrysler trucks)Ford imports parts from Germany(Siemens automotive)for there trucks(90 percent of Ford trucks are American made) Ford also WARRANTIES THEIR FRAMES(also made in America) The BEST NEVER REST!!. Oh,I almost forgot...Chevorlet is code for SHOVE-OR-LAY...Read in between the lines BEFORE YOU BUY.
Its Ford for me. So far, I've seen the most new Ford pickups with manual transmissions considering I haven't seen new Chevy's or Dodges with them at all. I can't due with an automatic anymore, and a diesel with a standard trans just makes me happy.
+bill thompson That is a ridiculous amount of money. For that Ill keep all my 90's chev vans truck and suburbans. I can buy a lot of gas and diesel for 60k
yes, I know it takes up less space, but surely these big trucks have plenty of space under the hood... Hmmm, I guess so. I was surprised to hear the Pushrod F250 was 'quiet and refined' - not what you usually associate with an OHV engine. I guess Ford did a lot of work on it. Thanks.
Chevy cuz my grandpa got a superduty about 2 years ago and he was hauling 2500 pounds after hauling it for about 42-50 miles going 75 the frame snap almost killing him and to this day he owns a Chevy Silverado and it has helped him out for 2 years every day he has twice as much wait on that Chevy as that sucky ford did. but guess what the frame did not snap and the Chevy can still hit 90 not problem
That's why they have always been second in sales lol. From companies to private purchases they have been second. That my friend is far from the king of the hill.
Clark Petrick Apple is far from the best computer. And your analogy in comparing a windows based PC to a Apple product is like comparing a Honda ridgeline too a F250 two completely different things built for two different purposes. Now you buy a medium duty truck in which the big three variants are direct competitors trades along with residential consumers buy Fords and they do so for a reason (reliability) even though 9 times outta 10 the Ford costs more which go figure.
As for comparing mac vs windows it's not hard especially considering gm does quite few things differently than ford. 1 a fully independent front suspension ford uses a solid front axle the weight capacity of these axles are almost identical withing 50 pounds 9350 for ford 9300 for gm. 2nd gm has a auto locking rear differential ford has a manual locking rear diff. Once you need to bad your stuck or you have already slipped. If you want even the engines ford is using superchargers that are constantly having issues on the Ecco boost line. Now they are added a 2.7 Ecco boost and dropping the 6.2L. Last time I checked I wanted to power to do things with a truck that's why I have a truck. So no I don't think it's that hard to compare the two. If you really want to go windows to windows. Then gm is asus the best built computers period. Acer is ford yes they sell the most but go to them with an issue and they tell you to pound sand.
Clark Petrick First off Ford has far better customer satisfaction than GM. Lawsuits lead to recalls and recalls are evidence of poor satisfaction! Recalls are implemented because customers sue the company ( which lead to a class action) then the supreme court gets involved to protect customers from poor problem resolutions like GM and Toyota have. GM is recalling an endless amount right now by the time its over with itll be 10+mil in one shot. Secondly Ford uses turbochargers on the ecoboost motors not superchargers. This simply shows how ahead Ford is of GM in the engine department. BMW, Volvo and Ford along with others are ahead of the game as this is the way the US market is going smaller turboed engines. Hell GM has to rely on Daewoo for its turbo motors. Ford isn't having constant issues with the ecoboosts they have them in everything from a 1.0L i3 in the fiesta to the 3.5L in the expedition. You want engine problems look no further than yours truly the 5.3L or for that matter any vortec motor. Thirdly, it really is hard to compare the two because that little 2.7L will more than likely make 320 hp and 370 tq in which all the tq will come in under 2500 rpm. While the next 3.5L eco will now make 380hp and 460 tq with the same low diesel tq curve. Ford will also still use the 5.0l with revised hp and an all new NA 3.5L v-6 with all the goodies. Gm has what a 4.3 with 285 hp and 305 tq at 3900 rpm a 5.3l with 355 hp and 383 tq at 4100 rpm and a 6.2l with 420hp and 460 tq at 4100 rpm. Yes your right Fords little turbo powered motors are an unfair comparison in GM's high RPM tq building v-8's. That 3.5L eco will pull better than the Ford 6.2L or GM 6.2l for 1 simple fact all 460 tq is available at 2500 rpm not 4100 rpm like the NA 6.2Ls. Hell would I like a twin turbo 6.2L hell yeah it would make 800tq at 2500 rpm but it wouldn't be fuel efficient. Ford instead just dropped 700lbs off the new all aluminum f150 those little motors are going to get 22+ city and nearly 30 highway now all with diesel tq with cheaper gas pricing. Fourthly, Ill take a solid axle on a HD series truck any day. If I wanted a car like ride Id buy the 7 lug f150. A solid axle is far more reliable and cost affective on a service vehicle than independent suspension. Front axle weight max on a 3500 chevy is 5200lbs while the Ford 350 is 5940lbs that 740lbs difference is huge for front mount applications. You ever hear of fords TSC with e-lockers its the same thing as auto engaging slip. Also, Ford still puts mechanical hub locks upfront GM well electronics go out and your shit outta luck. On the Ford something fails you can always get out and lock them. Finally, GM is what Ford was back in mid 2000's they are that far behind. They are just starting to bring in a transit connect competitor. They have no answer for the new transit or fords 5cyl powerstroke. GM is still using archaic pushrod motors and just starting to adopt the OHC design where Ford went overhead back in 95. Ford has more DI and VV and turbo motors in production than gm is developing. GM has these recalls that are tarnishing there image just as the publics forgotten about the bail out money. GM is in a very bad spot right now and the light is just getting smaller in the tunnel.
Im a Ford fan boy but id kill to have any one of these in a dullie set up. American trucks are the way to go. Those tractor mirrors on the ram really grew on me as the video went on and it just looks bad ass man it looks the part of a big rig pick up.
Not trying to bash on the ford but who wants a quiet diesel? and Who wants a loud annoying diesel? Chevy and Dodge have made a nice unique sound both different sounds but sounds nice every Power stroke that i heard on the road i had to put my windows up and put some music on so i can drive in peace.
I'm sorry for all the loud annoying sounds that all us Powerstroke diesel drivers make. They are a little loud on the outside but pretty quiet on the inside.
I already knew how this would turn out. I don't care about gadgets or leather or squishy seats. I work my trucks thats why all of them are a 05, 07 and 2011 Duramax Dually. Haven't failed me yet and pass all the others on the highway! And the 07 is about 1/4 million miles and still going strong!
GM all the way from military H1, to suburban moving our president around the country, to the first vehicle to leave the earth, to GM making Feriaris suspension, to GM owning all the car shows classic and not, to GM motors used in most mods, GM will always be rule supreme over Ford any day!
Pushrod makes for a shorter engine than OHC and for big diesels that don't rev high, valve float isn't an issue so having over head cams isn't much of an advantage.
I have had every generation of Cummings I've had every generation of power stroke. I'm in a Business where we work these trucks to death! I've never been a gm fan. in late 2011 I got a really good deal on a 3500 GMC Sierra Duramax so I decided to purchase it and put it to work on the fleet. The truck has almost 500,000 miles on it now yes that's right 500,000 it's and its never had a ranch turned on it besides general maintenance. No breakdowns means money in my pocket I have saved so much money I could buy two trucks in just a savings compared to my previous trucks. Now I have a whole fleet of nothing but LML Duramax and the new 2016s. I am a believer best truck ever GM really have their heads on with their design.
I guess that the guys that defend their brand are always going to talk shit about the others but the truth is I have owned Chevys and they are not to good for a daily working truck the rams I will never give them a time of my day I just will never like them and the ford powerstrokes are just a hole different level that's a real man's truck and the Lariat a successful man's truck
+BlUBBA MUBBA I own an F250 xlt 4x4, but components in the engine cost too much to fix in so little time of owning the truck. Like the spark plugs break off... $2,500 fix. I take that back, I really don't know the best truck anymore. For looks I would take Dodge, but for performance I would debate between Chevy and Ford. I don't like GM, so I will most likely side with ford.
I can't imagine why anyone would drive a Dodge. Don't you get tired of filling it up? Dodges all get horrible gas mileage. Switching from the piece-of-shit-gas-sucking-lemon Dodge I had to a Chevy was the best thing that I ever did.
EpicNEd Amen to the cummins out lasting them ALLLLL sure its the puniest in this test. They needed a H O version from the 3500 series. I dont guess it available on 2500 I am not sure. I do know this I have a 2010 F350 in the driveway with 90k and just had a new motor put in by Ford at 83k. Free of course thanks to the powertrain warranty. I change the oil every 3-5k depending on the amount of freeway driving. as far as reliability goes....cummins 1st duramax 2nd (we have an 03 with 250k on it and has had only a few repairs) and the powerstroke dead asss last!
Had plenty of Duramax and Cummins but that 6.7 ford has got my vote especially my new one! By the way the king ranch let out at the end of that drag race..
People please , these three brand trucks are "American" for atleast one more than the other. So stop fighting for which one is better, they are all good trucks. But lets see the reality here. If you see Chevrolet has a Made in America Auto Index Score of 70%, Dodge has a 63% and Guess what! for all you Ford hating people , ford has a Made in America Auto Index Score of 87.5% the other percent is parts that are imported or fabricated else where. So that been said and like it has Ford has been America's best selling vehicle and still is. (Not to mention FORD came out way before these other motor companies, just in a different concept of producing.)
+Efren Martinez The reality here is that Ford fans are incredibly immature and illogical. You could be at the races all year with dodge winning every race and they would still say Ford was better. They are as bad as gun controlling liberals with their illogical bent. In this case the Chevy truck just flat won out as a work vehicle and they didn't even get into the hideous bed flex that Fords have. I saw one test where ford actually damaged itself from bed flex. I grew up with Fords as well. My family always drove Ford stuff because it was cheap. No other reason. Cheap to buy, cheap to fix, and for the most part got the job done. True we did do a lot of fixing but that's the territory with older vehicles.
Yeah I guess everyone has their opinions and looks on things my friend. I respect the other named brand of trucks, It doesn't mean I won't drive a Chevrolet or a dodge, I'll take a corvette over a mustang Any day. Yes ford might have a reputation of being cheaper since it was the first one to mass produce but it doesn't mean ford is cheap . It's just the way one sees things, you know. You can talk down all you want on ford or dodge for it being not reliable and "cheap" the ? Is did you take care of it did you maintain it? Ex) Its just like an ak 47 vs. an ar 15 they are both good rifles, many people will pick up the ak right of the bat because they heard that those weapons can withstand alot, and is true but to a certain point, ar 15s in the other hand get a bad look at and people think they are cheaper and jam alot, so again the question is did you maintain it? Yet I don't see how our government still uses this rifle for combat, lol. But back to the topic, Man I can't remember the Last time a 1500 selling more. Over a f150 or it being America's #1 selling truck for the past 30 years or so. I don't know man numbers show it. Just look at the ford f150 raptor it's first release date was 2010 the first of the three companies to offer an off road rtg package. Chevrolet just came up with a mimic of the raptor called the reaper. Lol I have to say it sucked! And I'll tell you cause I drove one. Ford is downsizing their engines in their light duty trucks, just wait and dodge an chevy are going to start doing the same thing.
Efren Martinez I see your point but those of us that are mechanics define cheap both ways based on what we see in our shops a lot and base what we drive on our shop experiences also. Its more than just cost of course. It is also what is hard or easy to work on when you have to work on it.
+Efren Martinez I own an F250 xlt 4x4, but components in the engine cost too much to fix in so little time of owning the truck.
Have had Chevy trucks my whole life and with out a doubt they are a truly awesome Truck.......
That new Ford 6.7 is pretty damn bulletproof!
This aged well
@@cz2563 Yeah it did. Can’t believe it’s been 11 years since the 6.7 PS came out… has turned out to be a very reliable engine indeed. Who woulda thought?!?
Im a chevy guy and i always will be but fords engine is better for workin. My worktruck is a f250 and has 450k miles and is still working perfect.
I'm looking at replacing my truck for a F250. What year is yours and how much care did you gotta put in it to hit those miles?
Ford makes a hell of a Diesel...but their 5.4s were simply weak. I owned 2 Fords. 1 with a 351w...Awesome bulletproof and the 5.4 was a problematic child with coil pack and spark plug issues.
baconbob if you get a f250 op for either the 7.3 powerstroke or the 6.7
Earl Keen your absolutely right
Earl Keen my 97 GMC sierra has 315,000 miles and still runs hard!
That seems in line with the golden rule for big diesel pickups:
-If you want a truck that rides like a car and don’t plan to use it as a serious work vehicle, get a Chevy.
The perfect truck:
Ford body, cummins engine with allison transmission behind it
JablesOutdoors thats a retarded thing to say.. duramx all the way
Elm Ford: Strongest Chassis Chevy: Strongest transmission Dodge: Strongest engine
Greyson Wayne well if the only thing ford has going for it is the chassis, why is it best selling?? And i dont like fords
Elm No, that’s his opinion. You also have yours. When words like that fall out of your ass, it says more about you than the person you’re trying to insult.
Allison is electronic garbage
Duramax Allison is can't be put in the same category, too good for the competition.
Finally a semi-non-biased review, Thanks C&D!
The gear ratios in the rear axle make a big difference In towing, I bet it wasn’t the same ratio in the 3 trucks!
I've got the Duramax! Love it!
Billy Casey durcrap

350K and still going. I can't complain...
Update I’m bout to buy a 2012 162k miles for 25k but I’ don’t know had the ford and didn’t like 6.0
To each their own, gentlemen.
Heavy duty solid axles such
as the Dana 60 and 80 can put up with a lot of abuse.
For the most part, it's been a faithful truck.
so proud to have a sliverado! :D
lets all love each other and hate on honda/nissan trucks... not sure what there called
honda has the ridgeline. Nissan has the frontier and Titan
Eric Carriere nissan is getting the cummins diesel soon. Going to be tough to beat id say.
test these trucks for 250k miles loaded with 12000lbs day in day out, up and down hills, extreme cold and heat then tell me which one should be "king of the hill." Honestly im not biased towards any of them, i love the big 3 and they all have there pros and cons and they all do better in one category than the other. I think they could all learn something from each other in designing and engineering their trucks. Dodges biggest downfall is the computer programming for the engine and transmission (imho) in there vehicles, gas or diesel.
Huh someone who isn't like dodge ford Chevy suck goof bad horrible week stupid ugly slow stiff big small etc lol
Good
The Comparison is very good... I would like them to make another similar video but with the 2023 versions and that the tests were tougher and also on off road... Best regards from Guatemala, the country of Eternal Spring 👍👍👏👏
Well right now in 2018 the Duramax max towing is 21,000 lbs and the Cummins 30,000 lbs and Powerstroke 33,000 lbs towing capacity in 2018 diesel
They compared a king ranch and a longhorn but they wouldn't put a Denali for Chevy?
I was thinking the same thing.
idk
The Chevy is only 330LBS Lighter than the Ford not a 1,000, the video gave us the numbers all we had to do was the math. And even though Chevy and GMC are the same thing, theres no such thing as a Denali for Chevy. The Denali only exists in the GMC brand.
The LTZ was the top trim in 2012.
DENALI BELONGS TO GMC!
Another reason Ill never own a minivan and chrysler ones in particular. lol Those transmissions are a joke.
i have silverado 2500 2016 lifted i love it
Ive driven all 3, and honestly its a tie between all for me.
Well, what did you choose? And btw, that 6.7 Powerstroke had proven to be reliable since Ford started making them themselves and not outsourcing it.
They're all good. Kind of like picking your favorite band.
Me......I like Bob Seger.
There’s a reason majority of the worksites around here have the super duty all over them ranging from super old to brand new and the chevys are usually driveway queens.
ford is and always will be the king of trucks
They prove Chevy is better and you still wanna argue!😂
there basicly all the same kind of truck it just depends what you like but f-250 all the way I have one my self
I got a F450 King Ranch DRW and it's a bad motor scooter. Wouldn't trade it for anything. FORD BABY!!!
Duramax and Allison by far the best
Duramax and Alison lasts the longest, the cummins is good but once you get Banks kits on them, they all make around the same hp and torque, the Alison lasts the longest of all the transmissions.
No doubt the cummins is a great engine however I feel like ram trucks are not well put together and without the cummins they wouldn't have anything
The Duramax makes a gob more horsepower and torque then the Cummings. I don't think the transmission and gearing would be a issue.
+JOHNNY QUICK my bad for not clarifying Johnny, I had the 6.0l not the 6.6.
Ford all day
Wished they would have tested a GMC if they wanted more comfort out of the bowtie!
Hate to say it but, this felt like a GM ad not a non-bias competition. I'd be happy with any of them although I do lean towards Ford.
CHEVROLET: HEAVY-DUTY CHAMP.
Nope that v8 is junk inline six for power all day long. Longer stroke is the deciding factor !
frankbradshaw1770
It didn't seem to power past the junk v8 here ;)
watch?v=5CuvLwS8VXw watch this then!
You don't know anything bud. Ifs shit
Dodge: cummins engine proven to be reliable, transmission will need to be replaced over time depending on what you tow and when you tow are you heavy on the fuel pedal,DO NOT chip the cummins with the factory transmission
Ford: has a terrible history, the all new truck yet to be proven.
Chev/GMC: the duramax has been proven to me over time to be reliable and the allison transmission is also reliable
I used to be a ford guy through and through now my shadow will never darken the door of a ford dealership I own the 2008 dodge 3500 cummins mega cab 4x4 single wheel and really like the looks over the other two i use it for pulling a mini excavator with a 30 foot goose neck trailer from day one, at 213 000 km I had to put in a new transmission, this was no big deal to me as I was put through the ringer with a 2004 f350, anyhow at the dealership they had a transmission in their parts room for the dodge, in a small town, so this tells me that its a common thing for tranny's to eat their pigs alot, so at 213 000km's all i needed was to replace the transmission no big deal, I like my dodge and am gonna use it for as long as I can pulling 16000lbs , with witnessing other people in the the dirt moving industry the chev/Gmc seem to be the most reliable truck so next truck i get is gonna have the duramax teamed up this allison!!
Ford all the way but gm is my second pick but dodge way at the bottom. And I bet the guy in the f-250 let off so you guys could make the silverado look good!
Yeah no kidding. No way he would have lost after being that far ahead.
I know right.
Zack Zander
i think somebody is mad. the chevy has taller gears. less takeoff speed higher top end. happens all the time
No because my friends 2013 f-250 platinum raced my friends 2013 chevy silverado 2500hd with campers that were both 10,000lbs and the super duty won no problem so super duty hands down.
we all witnessed our own expirience i guess, my duramax has beat every powerstroke its ever lined up with
I have been a Chevy man the last 17 years.
I'm going with the Chevy
Give him a ford he will never walk a day give him a Chevy he walks for the rest of his life
Hunter Cline So hilarious 🤦♂️
I had a POWERSTROKE now i'm CUMMINS!
+Scales Jutice they dont need you
I wish they did...
the only think chevy has going for them is their Allison transmission, thats literally it. ford has the power, dependability, and even the most sales out of every truck company out there.
+Big Buck Hunters Most sales doesn't mean much when it's just a bargain truck. It's like saying walmart TP is best because they have the best sales.
im sorry power and most sales maybe but dependability? if something has to be said ford hasnt been able to find its base engine since the 7.3l in about a decade and a half, ford has gone thru 4 different engines because each has been a slight problem while cummins has only had 2 engines and chevy 1 since 2001(could argue 2 if you want to say the 2000 diesel)
+TheRemingtonboy And when they have a random breakdown will you hate on them too? No worries you still have Toys and Titans to work through. hehe
TheRemingtonboy
gotta love chevy. They are so hard to beat.
+Austin Ferguson hell yea lets go
+Austin Ferguson bout to get me a 6.0
jonathan ingerson True
Austin Ferguson well if course it would it's got a bigger motor. If your truck went against a Chevy durmax it would eat your truck like a snack
Chevy paid C&D the most, then Ford, then Fiat.
Sounds like you guys get paid by Chevrolet
Jaja damnit get your chevy then...
Cummins... Since the start of their engine line with Chrysler Ram. Most are still on the road running strong
Agreed, but everything else is falling apart around them.
@@Icutmetal so is my buddies 7.3. cheap imported Chinese parts. :(
Have 2012 Ford f350 has 325000 miles and I have pulled 26000 lb through the west Virginia mountains at 320000 miles I had trouble with the turbo for my money I have a truck with low maintenance cost
GM doesn't warranty their frames cause they very tough and strong and durable.
4 gauge Fuck Ford aka Found On Roadside Dead
+George GMC Sierra Denali G-M-C...G-arbage, M-ade,in China(parts are imported from China on these G-generically-M-made-by-C-Chrysler trucks)Ford imports parts from Germany(Siemens automotive)for there trucks(90 percent of Ford trucks are American made)
Ford also WARRANTIES THEIR FRAMES(also made in America)
The BEST NEVER REST!!.
Oh,I almost forgot...Chevorlet is code for
SHOVE-OR-LAY...Read in between the lines BEFORE YOU BUY.
Its Ford for me. So far, I've seen the most new Ford pickups with manual transmissions considering I haven't seen new Chevy's or Dodges with them at all. I can't due with an automatic anymore, and a diesel with a standard trans just makes me happy.
check back in 300,000-500,000 miles when the Cummins is still pulling strong
I don't see the other two being around
The Fords are way better looking
Steve weerly
Your kidding right
yeah they are
For all that money thanks but I will keep my 69 F350 4wd 4 speed.
Your a lucky man, I'm looking for a truck like that.
+bill thompson That is a ridiculous amount of money. For that Ill keep all my 90's chev vans truck and suburbans. I can buy a lot of gas and diesel for 60k
silverado all the way
the ford f250 cuz that's a real truck I grown up with Ford's an they never stood me wrong
yes, I know it takes up less space, but surely these big trucks have plenty of space under the hood...
+Austin Ferguson buthurt ford fanboy
Chevy Silverado is and always will be The King of the Hill!
That's why they have always been second in sales lol. From companies to private purchases they have been second. That my friend is far from the king of the hill.
The2001cobra look at other industry Acer sells the most computer but they are pieces of crap. Apple makes the best computer but do not sell the most.
Clark Petrick
Apple is far from the best computer.
Clark Petrick
First off Ford has far better customer satisfaction than GM.
Chevy is always on top
our ram sales person used to sell duramaxs.. and he said they are the same.. both very reliable!!
Im a Ford fan boy but id kill to have any one of these in a dullie set up. American trucks are the way to go. Those tractor mirrors on the ram really grew on me as the video went on and it just looks bad ass man it looks the part of a big rig pick up.
F O R D all day everyday.

Johnny Barrett What so you have to have your windows up to have a decent ride?
obviously the chevy is the best
Hell yea
Ford and gm!!
I've always wanted a Silverado. I like Fords too, though. Personally, I believe the Ram logo in itself ruins the entire truck...
Chevy hands down enough said!
Ford is best
I find it funny that in the last race the f250 out started them all then it slowed down to let the chevy pass
+Zach Deaton You mean topped out because its gearing was so low. :)
Ha not hardly
Zach Deaton Just saying, not everything is a conspiracy. :)
Na Josh
***** You are? I'd have thought something else. Oh well. lol
I have a 6.0 vortec 07 2500hd I absolutely love it
Three guys that drive Audi's testing trucks does not give me a solid feel for whats best here.
GM all the way from military H1, to suburban moving our president around the country, to the first vehicle to leave the earth, to GM making Feriaris suspension, to GM owning all the car shows classic and not, to GM motors used in most mods, GM will always be rule supreme over Ford any day!
The humvees GM made fucking suck and are dogs. 7 tons outrun them and are twice the vehicle.
Joshua Randall Haha that's a first, your special...
No I just know from experience, having served for 4 years lol
Joshua Randall If the military decides to reissue the Hummer it will have a Duramax, the most agile of the three HD trucks of course...
Joshua Randall Sonds like 7-tons of B.S. to me!
Ford is the best and will always be the best
GENERAL MOTORS ALL THE WAY. AND ... DURAMAX POWER !!!!!!!
Isuzu power Jack, all the way back to Japan.
+Jake Ryan Hell yea!
Pushrod makes for a shorter engine than OHC and for big diesels that don't rev high, valve float isn't an issue so having over head cams isn't much of an advantage.
Silverado #1 as always!!
Ford!!!!! No question
Chevy chevy chevy chevy!!!
Cool Video Simon!
Chevy all the way
+BlUBBA MUBBA I own an F250 xlt 4x4, but components in the engine cost too much to fix in so little time of owning the truck. Like the spark plugs break off...
+Scales Jutice You think posting this over and over on multiple videos is going to mean anything?
+Austin Ferguson So are you
+Devon Waldrop All the way to the poorhouse! But what a beautiful truck.
FOOOOOORDDDDDD
The cummins is good though, the Dodge will probably last longer anyways with that engine.
I take that back, I really don't know the best truck anymore. For looks I would take Dodge, but for performance I would debate between Chevy and Ford. I don't like GM, so I will most likely side with ford.
Taren Williams Yeah ford is known for that lol, but they do make good trucks though.
I can't imagine why anyone would drive a Dodge. Don't you get tired of filling it up? Dodges all get horrible gas mileage. Switching from the piece-of-shit-gas-sucking-lemon Dodge I had to a Chevy was the best thing that I ever did.
Wade French Cummins isn't bad my friend, I have respect for all three trucks because they are all really good at different things.
Fred you must have never upgraded the front. Stoke it is weak but aftermarket it gains its strength.
Had plenty of Duramax and Cummins but that 6.7 ford has got my vote especially my new one! By the way the king ranch let out at the end of that drag race..
Chevy Silverado! You GO!
I respect the other named brand of trucks, It doesn't mean I won't drive a Chevrolet or a dodge, I'll take a corvette over a mustang
Any day.
It is also what is hard or easy to work on when you have to work on it.
.
