Being a contractor ford no doubt, nothing wrong with the Chevy, it’s more than capable, anyone who can afford them should be happy, I personally drive a 2021 550 ford for work which is truly amazing …easier to judge than a car, turns like a car and being detuned as a cab and chassis with 4.88 is a still a beast at 12k empty

Idk I use to drive a f450 cab and chassis with a newer power stroke that was de tuned had a service bed with a crane on the back and it was ungodly slow topped out at 82 and got 9 mpg while leaking oil like crazy from the upper pan truck was a turd that’s why I didn’t buy a super duty for my personal truck.

Great video! Just traded in our 2017 F-250 King Ranch for a 2024 Chevrolet 2500 LTZ a couple of weeks ago here in Houston. The quality of our Ford was terrible. We had multiple problems with it. Major problems! For us, Ford’s quality issues on a $90k truck kept us from buying another one. The new interiors on Chevys are vastly improved from when we bought the 2017 Ford. This year Chevy is competitive. We tow a 10k pound trailer and I can’t wait to see how this truck performs. We definitely noticed the significant price difference on MSRP but we also received a $4,000 cash back from Chevy on the new truck whereas Ford was charging a mark up on the new Super Duty. The choice was very clear for us. A comparable Chevy was at least $13k less than the Ford and the Ford quality issues sealed the deal.

I like the Chevy as well. It looks good in and out. No matter what updates Ford does to their trucks. I cannot tell if it's a 2021 or 2024, they all look the same and very generic looking, as well. I like the premium feel both in and out of the Chevy and you can tell it looks new and not a four-squared flat side with the same old front windows cut lower. That is so 2000 series and that alone dates every Ford truck on the road.

One of the things I'm come to recently think about is power. Every generation each brand is more hp and torque. In theory I think the Chevy sits right at the sweet spot for power. However efficiency would be the best thing to work on for all brands. If you had to tow from Texas to Florida a 40ft travel trailer you're gonna be pulling at 5-6 maybe 7-8 mpg. If they could increase that to 10-12 that would be such an amazing improvement. Most trucks nowadays don't need any more power we need efficiency. If I could have 1 less fill-up on my drive that would be great.

I custom ordered 2023 an XLT with standard output 6.7, everything heavy duty tow options including factory installed 5th wheel, 2,000watt outlet in back etc. sticker was 71k I got it for 65k us $. My guess is someone could order starting with lariat package and add options to what else the want and pay much less than that limited. The only reason I buy ford is dealer is close. Chevy dealer is an hour away. I would probably buy Chevy if it was the other way around. This is my 3rd f250 and the last two have been remarkably reliable.

Does that cause another significant drop in the residual value? I'm sorry, but at these prices, the only thing my brain will consider is the financial aspect of ownership, and the potential driving experience goes in one ear and out the other. I have two HD pickups, a 2012 Ram 2500 4x4 and a 22 F-250 Tremor and I've never experienced death wobble on either of them (231K on the Ram and 37K on the Ford) both bought brand new.

Bought the ford, a 2023 F250 Tremor with the HO 6.7. Honestly, the pro power onboard to me is worth the price difference. When I worked out of a sprinter van, I would carry a 6000wh Goal Zero battery to keep my gear (commercial media) powered up and all the batteries charged. Now with the Ford I can trop everything up en-route and even use it as a generator on site if need be. Yes, the price is a bit of a punch in the balls (mine was $100K US), but the truck is SO good.

Nice. It may be a small thing but 20" wheels on any HD are going to negatively affect ride quality, especially off-pavement. Anyway I'm planning on buying a F250 SuperCab with the standard bed but can't decide on the engine. Can you feel the extra power with the HO? Since mine will get some (not a lot) off-road use and I won't be towing heavy I'm considering the 7.3 gas because it's lighter. My hunting truck is a Mojave.

@@dantimber thanks! My wheels are I think 18’s. The tremor package includes big knobby 35s, so the rim is a little smaller than the other higher trims. I wouldn’t know if the HO feels more powerful than the other engines, but I imagine it would be apparent. I mean, 1200 ft lbs, for such a large vehicle it’s frighteningly quick. Really impressive. I would encourage you, even if you aren’t hauling regularly to stay away from the gas engine. Don’t get me wrong, we have an RV with that engine in it and it’s great, but I’m talking specifically about resale here. Fact is, a gas powered HD pickup’s resale value will drop like a rock compared to either diesel. Just something to consider.

You and your father are really good at reviewing trucks. Thank you.
I know you have to be careful how you answer questions about vehicles and I know that you can alienate a manufacturer or dealer easily making your job much more difficult and costly. So far you guys have done a nice job straddling that
    bob wire fence.
Any experience or statistics you have seen that is reputable on which HD truck will holds its resale value the best? That means more to buyers like me who trade in every 3-5 years. Reliability is also important as it helps make my living but I never drive more than 25,000 miles a year, and most are 12,000 because my wife and I usually drive her SUV on longer trips.
From the front, the Chevy is absolutely awesome looking. From the rear, the Chevy has the best tailgate by far. Even Fords new multi-function tailgate is lackluster in comparison.
Now, I actually prefer the ford interior for a few reasons, (1) the adjustable pedals and telescoping steering wheel. (2) the seats are more comfortable and I love the multi-contour full lay flat seats. I have a sleeping disorder and many days, I have to pull over suddenly and sleep for 10-15 minutes. (3) I really like the panoramic roof.
That blue on the ford is impressive matched with the limited interior. However I’ve seen this light grey/blue diamond pattern age very quickly. The ventilation holes catch a lot of stuff.
In 1979 my Dad bought a brand new ford F-350 at the Ford dealership in Roswell New Mexico. Actually my grandfather bought the truck as a gift to my dad. Anyway dad set down with what that dealership called fleet manager. He ordered all “special order” and all vehicles for the dealerships in stock vehicles. Dad picked out a light light powder blue with white running fore and aft in the middle of the truck. It had a medium and dark blue interior. It was a Crew Cab, long bed, 400 ci engine, 4:10 gears matted to a 4 speed manual transmission. It was the most loaded version available in 1979, and XLT “Lariat” with a rope symbol. The cost with tax, title and destination was $7990.99!!!!
At that time dad made about $30,000 a year and mom about $11,000 teaching.
Today that truck would be $86,000 or a factor of almost 11x. If our incomes kept up with the inflation on pickups.. I’d be making $330,000 $400,000 a year to have similar buying power.
It’s a shame the US and Canada have become socialistic welfare states. They’ve destroyed their currency forcing husbands and wives to work full time just to survive.

First things first, I hope you didn't scratch or dent the tailgate on the Chevy. B&W makes a hitch now exclusively for the GM Multi Pro Tailgate. Your not really comparing apples to apples. That F250 is a long wheel base, I'm very surprised the payload capacity wasn't higher with the 8ft bed on the Ford. Personally a F250 LWB is very oddball. Your mostly likely going to get a F350 LWB long before you get a F250 LWB. Just my honest opinion but a F250 LWB is very rare here in Texas. Also, if the Ford was a SWB the fuel capacity would be the same.
