Xbox version will always be the definitive version for the me. Those custom soundtracks and enhanced graphics really do make it a whole other game. Quite a significant boost over the PS2. Probably one of the better examples of showing why and how, multi-format 3rd party titles looked, and played better on the underappreciated Xbox.
+RookerVision - Gaming Videos Hello, can you compare all the ports of both GTA Vice City & San Andreas & give your verdict on which is the best port for the respected game?
+RookerVision - Gaming Videos I'm not sure whether to buy the original Xbox, Xbox 360, or PS4 version of San Andreas. Obviously PC always wins, but hat would you choose for the console version? Also, is the likes of Max Payne 2 & 3 on the cards?
@Paul Bell yep gotta let em know the truth haha! It's my passion playing on the old gen consoles. 6th gen being the best ever. Ps2, Xbox, gamecube, good times. Altho I grew up on nintendo my older brother was playstation and Sega so I got the best of both worlds. Im no fan boy of any system but I will tell you with facts about gaming and the benefits of each console. Now there are a lot of Xbox boys that just say fuck ps2 because they don't know shit and don't play on different hardwares.
Not impractical. It was probably there for those used to older GTA games. And it also helped performance, especially if you didn't have a T&L graphics card.
Youssef Mohamed it wasn entirely nostalgia, there were the emergency vehicle missions. You can always rely on the banshee in the dealership, hidden packages hidden weapons health armor. So many things that I loved about the game are just gone from GTA 5, not that nostalgia is clouding me
Adam Davidson I do agree on the police and ambulance side missions even though taxi & property missions in GTA 5 are pretty dope but it was cool driving around as if you are the police chasing down criminals when you are one yourself and driving as the ambulance running over more people than actually saving, but In the hidden stuff part i personally think gta5 has way cooler and more complex hidden easter eggs no doubt, even though killing with the chainsaw was really fun XD (not sure if the chainsaw was in GTA 3 or vice city though). The only thing I'm 100% sure was better in GTA 3 ,vice city and SA was the cheats, but overall I prefer GTA 5
+Youssef Mohamed Why the fck are you defending Rockstars greed? GTA V is fucking inferior to even GTA IV in terms of details and overall campaign quality. The AI in GTA V is also extremely lackcluster and shit, the driving was simplified so much, GTA IV had way more complex driving including destruction model which they simplified in GTA V for no reasons. GTA IV also has better gun combat with proper bullet physics which was AGAIN streamlined in GTA V. Your argument is flawed because you never looked at the games content wise and features. And yes I did actually have MORE fun in San Andreas than GTA V, the game just lacks replayability and the multiplayer is awful, we told Rockstar what we wanted in the next GTA game they did not listen in fact they just did all the opposite, GTA IV multiplayer was great fun because it had no limitation like the V did. Also where did vehicle missions go in GTA IV and V? Again, Rockstar cuts content for no apparent reasons, stop supporting their greed, they are not bad games but they could been better specially for the price tag they charged for it brand new.
I just love all of your videos man. Your comparisons are the best around. Not only do you get most versions of the game but you stop and point out the differences in each one. It's amazing. Ah my first GTA and sandbox game. I always heard about the Xbox versions of this, Vice City, and San Andreas being very different graphically. I remember someone told me that San Andreas had an effect where blood could get on your arms and what not on Xbox. Little added details like that are always a nice touch. Anyway another great comparison RookerVision! Hope to see the other GTA games down the road.
Still my favourite edition of the game followed closely by 2004's San Andreas. The HD games traded in replay value and fun factor for realism - sucking the life out of the series in the process.

Minor detail. I always preferred Claudes original PS2 jogging animation. Something about the Xbox, PC, and 10 year anniversary jogging animation always looked strange to me
PS2 is the best version without a doubt. It had way more features because of the renderware engine was at it's best at the PS2 release. They couldn't port it to pc or something and therefore they had to do some rework on things for pc, also the ps2 had the original car colours without the chrome around it wich make the cars stand out a bit more. they also had some issues with Vice City and San Andreas on pc and those were more broken then GTA 3 is on pc. All 3 games 3D era are the best on PS2.

I'm curious why you think the Xbox version is superior to a fully and properly modded PC version? I didn't replay this on PC yet other than modding it and testing it one day... but in the video it clearly looks like the modded PC is the best option.
∞Phantasm It looks like the vanilla PC version is a port of the PS2 version with a few enhancements done in the year between releases. The Xbox version, however, came out a year after the PC version and two after the PS2; they could've easily enhanced the graphics over what they put in the PC version. Back then, there _were_ a lot of games that looked better on console. It wasn't like today.
***** Yes, I know that and I owned all 3 versions. It's irrelevant to the question though, because there are mods that bring over the Xbox enhancements to the PC version, as explained in the video. My question was what makes the Xbox version better than a properly modded PC version (with all the Xbox enhancements and Ginput Xinput controller support)? Also it's worth noting, the Xbox version cannot be rendered higher than 720p, while the PC version can display any resolution.
My favorite game ever. :) I've made a collection of getting it on every platform it's on accidentally, now all I need is the XBOX version. But I don't own a Xbox. :/
Grand Theft Auto III is and always will be my favorite Grand Theft Auto game of all time. When seriousness was applied to the games. I just don't get the old GTA vibe with GTA 5. I don't harass people when they say something negative about GTA III, it's there opinion. Unlike little kids harrassing people because someone said something negative about GTA V. God I miss this game.
iirc, the xbox version was made with exclusive textures by Rockstar Vienna, not North. As much as i agree that PC gaming generally looks better, I feel the GTA3 era games as well as 4 were ported with a potato, as the console versions looked better without the mods that restore the missing features. also, while i wont dispute the xbox was generally more powerful, i feel those textures could have been achieved on a ps2 but werent because Rockstar was still getting used to 3D gaming and tbe PS2. After all, GTA VC has reflective vehicles on the PS2. Thanks for this video, though, quite fascinating to see side by sides that werent still images.
Just an extremely small correction: The GTA2 segment in the video isn't from PC, it is from PS1(It doesn't really affect the content of the video, but I thought I should mention it)
The versions in my top 6: 6:PC 5:IOS&Android 4:Xbox 3:PS2 2:PC with Xbox graphics 1:PC with PS2 graphics Thats how i like them ;D Overrall still an amazing game,no matter on wich platform are you playing. :)
"Xbox is the best" Was not expecting that...especially considering anything beyond 10m in front looks like a muddy mess. The modded PC version is far superior.
+That Fur It's hilarious seeing you console fanboys trying to argue that older and inferior hardware somehow produces better graphical results than PC. And unlike consoles, PC has modding capability which means the enhancements are endless.

I agree, the ps2 could achieve those textures easily. Look at San Andreas, looks great on PS2...
I bought this game for 20 rupees which is like 0.01$!
This video was awesome and i loved it! But you forgot a difference in the ios port where after doing rays last mission the sky goes normal and sunny
I'm sure I forgot ALOT. I usually only play each version a little bit and compare that.
RookerVision - Gaming Videos lol ;)
Downloaded the xbox conversion mod for pc and its looks so awesome.
Wish we had a mod like this for vice city.
Great video!
Thank you sir.
Driver 1 is such impressive graphics for ps1
Yep, Ikr!
Driver was a shit series
Nice comparisons
Just an extremely small correction: The GTA2 segment in the video isn't from PC, it is from PS1(It doesn't really affect the content of the video, but I thought I should mention it)
Oh you're right, I put the wrong label on
You should do GTA2, it's quite different on PC and PS1!
I've always wondered if there was a difference between the Xbox and PS2 version. Thanks :)
No problem.. Anytime
+DD dorsett the ps4 one is the same as the ps2 one doesn't worth the comparison
+DD dorsett still the same game and pcx2 is also upscaling doesn't worth comparing
+DD dorsett both are upscaled which doesn't count
+wulf I recorded these all on their systems. Ps2 captured on ps2, xbox on xbox, pc on pc.
Modded and XBOX have best graphics
The versions in my top 6:
6:PC
5:IOS&Android
4:Xbox
3:PS2
2:PC with Xbox graphics
1:PC with PS2 graphics
Thats how i like them ;D
Overrall still an amazing game,no matter on wich platform are you playing. :)
The mobile version is actually a PC port. Even the PC cheat codes work
Awesome Video Guys...
Thank you my man
"Xbox is the best"
Was not expecting that...especially considering anything beyond 10m in front looks like a muddy mess. The modded PC version is far superior.
Oh no, please no. You're the sweaty nerds in their dungeon chanting "PC MASTER RACE!!", just go away.
K.I.A Zombitch I didn't hear him say pc master race
+That Fur It's hilarious seeing you console fanboys trying to argue that older and inferior hardware somehow produces better graphical results than PC. And unlike consoles, PC has modding capability which means the enhancements are endless.
The Xbox version didn't need to be modded, it was amazing upon release.
Why is this an argument
Is it possible you might do one on Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit and Max Payne 2 in the near future? Btw, I really like your videos.
Thank you, and I love Indigo Prophecy, I'll add it to the list...
+RookerVision - Gaming Videos Awesome! Can't wait! :)
Awesome video, great job. Thx
No problem
Xbox version and PC is best
Back then I was a kid when I played the game for the first time and no idea what mission and those English letters meant...
