There’s something so special about GTA III’s design and art style that was never quite matched in later entries and I can’t seem to figure out what it is. Either way I love it and it’s one of the reasons why it’s my favorite in the series.
I think the design was different than later games. It was the first 3D game and really the first real 3d city like this. As later games came, they improved the design, the immersive things. They had more budget too. As they improved things, it lost that weird eerieness that GTA3 Liberty has.
The area north of Salvatore's mansion is a leftover from earlier stages of development. If you look at early versions of the map, there was a small peninsula there jutting out to the northeast. There was a power plant there, though no proper screenshots of it exist as far as I know (other than a top-down wireframe render). It seems that once that entire area was cut, Rockstar just "fixed" it by placing a bunch of big concrete blocks there instead.
in the gta series III design documents video, its said that next to the power plant a drug lab was supposed to be there, it became the pharmacy in vice city
@@lerobert7737 I rechecked that video and there was also a chemical plant next to the power plant. It seems that it was the set of structures to the east of the power plant (which you can easily identify by the smokestacks), though it's pretty hard to see the distinction between the two. I don't know where you got the information about the drug lab from.
It does go to show that the map was largely unfinished as well as not being able to have all the ideas initially wanted. There's plenty of wasted space, even for such a small map.
I’m also curious if it started as maybe a 2.5d top-down game cause it has a lot of elements that wouldn’t have been alien to an old school Grand Theft Auto. Those wide open areas are all over the top down ones.
@@BagzAndPresident I disagree. It's way more easier to spot the imperfections if you play the games in HD. The 480i resolution masked just how low res the textures were, how janky the facial animations were and overall masked how cartoony and "gamey" the 3D games looked.
@@BagzAndPresident Yeah hard disagree. The atmosphere and visuals of the original PS2 releases of all 3 games is the way they're meant to be experienced. I've played every version, own physical copies for PS2 and PC. Normally I'd agree that most multiplatform games of that era are simply Xbox games but games like NFS Hot Pursuit 2 and the GTA series were built on PS2 as the lead dev console. They had no concept of HD in 2001. Xbox's 480p does look good but they changed everything about the soul of the games. The lighting and brightness and atmosphere overall is just off. And in the case of Vice City and San Andreas, any version that isn't the original black label PS2 release is missing entire songs from the soundtrack. Yes you can mod them back in on PC. But you can't really mod playing the real deal on a CRT.
Maybe it's a little biased but when we first played GTA 3 on a CRT the image and sounds stuck with us. Even the loading screen is carved in my brain. When I eventually played Vice City on PC several years later the presentation was better but it wasn't as cool as playing on ps2.
It's the same ambient tracks used in Vice City and atleast one of the stories games, i remember the sound of seagulls near the docks being the same as the beach in VC
GTA Liberty City Stories was my first GTA and I spent a lot of time exploring the obscure areas you show in this video. On the beach next to Sal's mansion spawns a BF Injection which is a pretty rare car in the game. Also I'm pretty sure the ending takes place at the lighthouse island nearby. It's nice that some of these inconspicuous little spots earned a purpose in the LCS prequel.
You aren't the only one! GTA LCS was my first game, like, of all games. I spent over a thousand hours (back then i only had a ps2 so my choices were limited) on it. Nobody ever seems to have noticed there's sort of a hidden secret in LCS. Between 12 and 3am a weird anomaly will appear in the sky but you can only spot it in certain areas. I don't think there's much to it though, it's just a line that comes and goes, sort of like a falling star
LCS Sucks hot n sweaty black buttholes lol all gta where it takes place in LC sucks even gta 4 sucks hobos fungus feet and I say that with ah passion….it’s ah damn shame that we are at the starting peak of the next GTA after this one takes place n VC cause that’s means the next GTA which will be (GTA 7) will take place n sucky boring bland n dark LC smfh…..LC makes real life New York look all gloomy and dark and depressing asf lol it’s really ah damn shame
I've never played Bully, so I'm not sure if it'd even vibe with me or not. But I'll probably HAVE to check it out if this series goes on long enough, it seems like a popular enough game. I don't have any immediate plans to play it, but I'll keep your offer in mind if I ever do check out the game.
5:40 that whole area there is really unique in that, like you stated, none of it needed to exist & could've all been water, & that they didn't include anything special to find there.. In GTA 3. After watching your video, I explored the area in GTA: Liberty City Stories (PSP version), which almost entirely rips the map of GTA 3 & re-uses it, including this little area here. I was surprised to find that next to the odd concrete platform is a hidden package, which means that they DID intend on you going here (at least in Liberty City Stories) although it's still a very weird thing.
There is a side mission taking place on the beach and mountains around Salvatore's house, it's a vehicle mission called Patriot Playground and it counts towards 100% completion. You need to get into the Patriot vehicle in front of the Super Save store that's south of Salvatore's house. It's actually a lot of fun, you need to collect 15 quest markers around the mountains and beaches in a time limit and you need to control the truck very carefully but at the same time it's actually very relaxing. I definitely remember some markers being at the very edge of the cliffs behind Salvatore's house! I think a lot of people consider it one of the hardest side missions but I liked it.
Agreed. Given how much the _Definitive Edition_ is hated, I'm surprised that retro video-game shops still sell _Grand Theft Auto 3_ , _GTA: Vice City_ , and _GTA: San Andreas_ at reasonable prices on the PlayStation 2 and original X-Box.
Was a tried member. That was one thing that sucked in the game...by the end of it every gang, excepting yakuza and "the nines" (i think it's the name), are hostile to you and will attack you on sight.

A horrifying fact for the giant construction site, that whole section of the map used to be a residential area full of apartment buildings, an opera house, and a lot of Italian restaurants but was all blow up by Tony Cipriani so Donald love could build there which is the most destruction mission in GTA liberty city stories.
GTA3 was the first true 3D openworld game. Rockstar pioneered tecch with their engine that allowed the world to stream in around the player rather than load in completely all at once. Still, back then you really had to pick and choose where you were going to add details, and what type of details to which you would devote the little memory and processing power you had. Hidden Packages were bonuses for avid explorers of the game-world, therefore they were hidden in places that weren't used for combat or cutscenes, and instead were created to be interesting to explore. It's no wonder these are some of the most interesting places in the early 3D Liberty City
I adore this sort of thing. This is how I played games as a kid. I didn't even figure out what saving was for an embarrassingly long time since I was happy just booting up from the start and exploring the world. It's a feeling I wish I could recreate nowadays but this video has brought it back some. If you enjoyed this, I definitely recommend checking out Stilwater from Saints Row. It has a somewhat similar uncanny vibe to this in a way I can't really explain, and is just so varied and dynamic in its design. I think you'd enjoy exploring it as much as I did when I was young.
Man I love these kind of videos you are making! They just really hit that spot for me. Someone taking their time and exploring game worlds, being mindful of all the details that went into it. Giving them the recognition they deserve. It really is like taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture, something, I feel like, most people miss when playing through any game.
Can't believe you talked about Shoreside Vale without getting up to the massive grassy hills behind the dam. I remember getting back there and thinking just how massive and surprisingly detailed it was. All was fun until my car couldn't keep up with the slopes and slid down into the water.
Dead Air was always my favorite campaign of Left 4 Dead 1 specifically because of the airport segment. It's so large and expansive, and you even get to see behind the baggage claim. The way they used a crashed plane's burning jet fuel to close off the play area for the finale of the campaign was also really cool. It's such a cool vibe with the burning city in the background. I played this game way before I had been to a real airport, so it was cool trying to imagine what it would've been like without the zombie infestation.
This type of weird empty places are everywhere in the 3d era gta games but unlike Vice City where the ambience and seawaves sound made it relaxing the atmosphere and visuals of gta 3 made it creepy or uncanny
age 10, i'd ride my bike 10 minutes to the video rental store where they had a ps2 set up, $2 for 30 minutes. barely enough time to get through the opening scenes / mission and be able to free roam. i'd obsess over this murky rainy grimy city and all its eerie emptiness
For me, something that gives this game it's character is the trash you see blowing about the city. Rockstar dev Obbe Vermeij added them because he thought the streets looked too clean. There are 4 textures in total - 2 newspapers, 2 leaves.
I love your style of videos, and around exploring weird little spots in games. Ever since I was a kid I would slow my roll in games, and just take in the scenery. Sidenote: GTA III's vibes and aesthetic are unmatched.
An episode on San Andreas would be great. I love all classic GTAs, but that was my bread and butter growing up. I also love the 4:3 aspect ratio. I keep seeing more and more videos in 4:3 and in 3:2. Obviously this has a practical purpose here, but you could've easily just installed a widescreen patch if you wanted to record in 16:9. Honestly I might buy a CRT some day just for 4:3 content if it actually makes a comeback.
Yeah I have the original (non-definitive edition) game on Steam and considered playing that with some mods to make it more visually nice, but considering I was playing it for a series like this, I felt like it was appropriate to get the original aesthetic. I try to do that when I can, it feels more authentic.
@@PretzelYTif you want to modify the steam version, you would have to downgrade the game - its a bit of a tedious work, but there’s a lot of tutorials
About the water comment you made: i actually haven't played the game, but i heard somewhere (probably according to a radio station or Liberty City Stories or something) that apparently in lore the water is extremely polluted because of an accident or something like that and that's why you can't swim in the game.
I had the handbook for GTA Liberty City Stories and it also explained that there was some group who successfully advocated for a law that banned bicycles and said they were targeting motorcycles next. Which explains why neither are available in GTA 3.
@@gabrielmartines3510 You think that's bad, the reason you can't swim in Vice City is that there's sharks in the water. No I'm not making that up, that the canon reason.
The hobo tunnel at one point used to have the hobos toss molotovs on themselves. After thousands of play hours, they no longer do this, and just stand there.
I remember following one of the fishing companies' trucks to their HQ or whatever. The gate wouldn't open to me. I then experimented by stealing one of the trucks and going to the same spot, where it suddenly opened. That was a cool little finding, considering I was like 9.
4:30 wrong. there's an off road mission that has checkpoint markers around that area and you will most likely be driving behind those buildings to get them. and you then go on to say "there's no objective that brings you here", whilst standing in another area that has multiple of those checkpoints. it's not a good look when you don't do even a little bit of research into the missions and start commenting on them lol
I like the idea thst Claude just has a pilots license. In gta San Andreas, cj will get a wanted level whenever he breaks into an airport. That is, until he gets a license. Then he's free to enter and take a plane whenever he wants.
You don't get a wanted level in SA; Rockstar didn't start that until IV. You just can't open the gate or access any aircraft (except in Los Santos) until the license is obtained.
For me GTA 3 map looks different from the next games, less realistic and a bit more surreal. My favorite place on the map is the church area on Staunton Island. Out of place architecture, little cemetery on the backyard, huge ads on the modern building nearby, it's all looks uncanny and surreal.
There is 1 mission that brings you to the beach in Portland, sorta, which is the checkpoint parkour sidemission when entering the Patriot at the Supa Save nearby. In Liberty City Stories you also get brought here in the final objective for the side mission See The Sight Before Your Flight.
You are an incredible creator, and I sincerely hope to be watching your videos and particularly your Gaming World Tours for the foreseeable future. Thank you, for you, Pretzel! :)
5:05 something about the calm music and past reflection mixed with a clip of a guy getting his guts blown out by a shotgun got me pretty good Love the nostalgia in this video, reminds me of exploring the game as a kid and wanting to go all over the map to see what there was
I remember when I first walked behind the flat wall of buildings, it felt quite uncanny. It’s a weird spot that has stuck with me since, I’m glad you mentioned it.
This video feels like a fever dream.. but in a good way. Its all very spooky and vivid. The music in the background, the pace, and even the way your voice sounds. Very slow paced and somewhat relaxing. I in fact almost fell asleep to this lol. But, coming from someone who 100-percented Grand Theft Auto 3, this video is very accurate. The map and atmosphere is so authentic and overcast, some pedestrians are creepy, the weather.. even the radio! Head radio, msx, rise fm, is what really brings out the eerie and dark NYC 2000s vibe. Grand Theft Auto 3 was definitely a lot more chilling than any other grand theft auto in the entire franchise. But this was definitely a 10/10 video. +1 Sub
8:38 I think your obsession with secrets spots is blinding you to the cool gameplay possibilities born from this path. Like the beach, I don’t think the tunnel is ever used in the story. It’s an interesting secret “trick” to be used only by the most knowledgeable of players. That’s its own special type of corner in a games design. Great video as always!
The only time I really used the tunnel was on ambulance missions, but I suppose it could be used when you pick up 8ball on bomb da base or whatever the mission is where you blow up the ship, since it leads right to that vicinity.
1:00 "Something about these just feels sad" Meanwhile Traid member: *bonk* Edit: btw., when it comes to the staircase next to Luigi's club - you can use it in the "Sayonara Salvatore" mission and snipe Salvatore from that vantage point.
Chill cozy concept and video. I used to walk around games after beating them like this alot. Even multiplayer maps. An example of a few games I liked to look around alot in for small details or anything interesting would be Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Halo 2. Halo always had interesting out of bounds areas and easter eggs. Ways to skip over areas or see things spawned in before they actually spawned in the proper area. Oblivion had small random places like a camp site with a journal, a waterfall bridge crossing leading to a hidden cave or a dead troll under a bridge with a note about how nobody was scared of him.
You know of all the videos about old games like this, this one was by far the biggest nostalgia trip for me. I wanted to spend so much time here I pretty much did all the things you did in the video. Hours and hours just exploring and finding all these places, the emptiness made it feel more real to me. Like these places would still exist without you, the sun would rise and set on them on bothered. But you found them, you can have that still silent emptiness to yourself and not have to share it with anyone else.
5:34 I spent so many hours as a kid pushing cars down the little crevice at the top of the cliff near Salvatore's house. Simple stuff like that was so fun to me at the time lol. Also with the flying car cheat you could get inside the stadium with some practice. The pitch is fully textured but you fall through the floor and have to reload.
There are at least two missions that bring you to the beach, one is a boat chase with a man illegally fishing with grenades (who I think is given to you by either Asuka or Ray), and another checkpoints based side mission with the Patriot parked in front of the supermarket close to the beach. The mission only starts if you enter the Patriot.
Tbh Liberty City do feels like a realistic sprawling town, where walking around you may find some weird infrastructure you rarely came across(including in real life). Can't wait for Vice City, where the town is smaller but better, yet a huge empty beach took over half of the map lmao.
The lighthouse is accessible although very difficult as the collision map doesn’t match up with the textures you see as the player, lots of random cliff edges and things to watch out for as you’ll just slide off 😆
Amazing video! The vibe captures the drab, emptiness of these now older games. The 4:3 video size is also an amazing detail! I made a video in 2018 called "90% of GTA fans can't get here (GTA 3 Secret Locations) detailing hidden buildings and spots in GTA 3 that can only be accessed via free cam. Such as the inside of the safehouse or inside the stadium. If you have free time and would like to check out. This video reminded me of that. This was the first video I saw of your channel and I love it. Your intro is perfect!
When i was a kid, playing GTA 3 i never really cared about the missions, my thing was to go out and explore this virtual world and speculate on all its possibilities. I remember i had a dream when i was like 5, that i found a whole new island with a town on it outside of the map. This video was certainly a nostalgic ride, awesome content sir!
Great video. There is something incredibly comforting about these more hidden, less polished areas of GTA 3. The primitiveness of Liberty City makes it feel so organic, so human; a complete juxtaposition to the way every nook and cranny in a modern open world video game is densely packed with detail.
@10:40 if you were like me & didnt have a memory card.. it took u months to finally see the 2nd island! to finally expand the map felt like a whole brand new game was unlocked! such an incredible feeling!
Please do one of these on GTA 4. I like your patience and respect for your audience. You don't cram a bunch of talking into tightly hurried editing, like most RUclipsrs.
I like these little videos. They explore the feeling that even now draws me towards games that let you build bases. I think Metal Gear Solid 3 also had some really interesting environments that would be cool to look at. The lush jungles, cramped forest glades, mountains, and secret military base. The massive 3-cell jungle/mountain cliff edge area used for the fight with The End is gorgeous! 6:25 Clearly that's where my secret base goes.
The cliffside with the back of the buildings almost looks unfinished to me It was also very sweet of you to leave that warmth giving package for the Darko's :)
There was always something so strangely liminal about certain places in this game. Just hanging out in places where NPCs don't spawn or normally traverse, listening to the car radio or just walking around as the ambience immersed me in this strange little world. I wish I could feel it for the first time all over again.
Even today I still love this games graphics and atmosphere. I don’t know why, I have just always loved the blocky, low poly style that all games had around this time period. I’m glad you weren’t playing the defective edition
seeing gameplay of this is hitting me hard with nostalgia. i remember playing this when it came out! its funny how much the beach and cliffside has a distinctively 'gta' look to it that continued into the rest of the games :)
Love your videos, brings back memories of my childhood when I basked in the orange evening sun of San Andreas and walked through the streets while taking in the vibe of a world that felt endless.
Theres a certain set of stairs on the second island that take you somewhat up a tower i was hoping you would have covered, as well as an underground parking garage (potentially the same building? Been a longgggg time since I played this game)
Amazing! Everything about this was perfect: The original PS2 gameplay and TV quality, the humour, the guides on how to reach all these spots,... It really displayed the game's atmosphere in the best way and I'd gladly re-watch this at a later date.
The telling is like orgasm level. With commentary skills like that, you could use manhunt as bedtime story fuel. I am absolutely blown away, this is the first and the last time I watched any of your videos, while not being subscriber.
Really interesting video with a good vibe!! Other game I remember having pretty big airports is Just Cause 2. Panau International airport was also impressively big and there was a military base in the desert that also had a huge airfield!
The abandoned train yard was one of my favourite spots whenever my older brother used to let me play this as a kid. Though that's to be expected given how "train damaged" I am 😅
The trainyard and tunnel were part of cut content for a crazy bum called Darkel who had you go on rampages allegedly cut because it was heavily themed around and used the word terrorism.
As someone who’s 100% GTA III, virtually all of Liberty City is explored. Ofc, I understand not everyone plays GTA as religiously as I do so you will have videos like yours. Still, good video!
It's really cool seeing that they just put a bunch of world in these older games. Not all spots need to have a purpose.

The color palette, the grey blue filter, etc. Liberty City really had the most dense atmosphere out of all GTA games.
They tried to capture NY in the fall with this and GTAIV. Gray sky, gritty, dirty. It worked well, great contrast to VC and SA
@@andrewdziuba3336Yeah especially in the fall of 2001, like 1 month after 9/11
The area north of Salvatore's mansion is a leftover from earlier stages of development.
Big concrete blocks make rivers narrower and faster-flowing. When sewage just discharged into rivers this made the waste carry out to sea faster.
in the gta series III design documents video, its said that next to the power plant a drug lab was supposed to be there, it became the pharmacy in vice city
Tons of respect for using the PS2 version with the standard 4:3 definition. It really brings the game back to its original vision.
It’s original vision was HD. They were held back by the hardware. Which is why the XBOX and PC versions are rockstar’s perfect vision
But you can't really mod playing the real deal on a CRT.
people think their first experience is the only true one
Maybe it's a little biased but when we first played GTA 3 on a CRT the image and sounds stuck with us. Even the loading screen is carved in my brain.
When I eventually played Vice City on PC several years later the presentation was better but it wasn't as cool as playing on ps2.
The best part of this game is the ambience. I used to fall asleep to the noise of the city as a kid.
same
It's the same ambient tracks used in Vice City and atleast one of the stories games, i remember the sound of seagulls near the docks being the same as the beach in VC

LCS was also my first gta. when i was a kid and i played it, i couldnt pass some missions, so i used cheats to get to other islands

This game was so revolutionary at the time. It was so much fun. No other game has made me feel the same since.
facts and same. the original music created for the game adds to that feeling for me as well. this game is special.
I never got over it i loved it as a child and still do i think forever, the full complete vibe of it all... I just couldn't get over it
I have gotten it some with Breath of the Wild.
Before Grand Theft Auto 3 it was Shenmue, and before that it was Myst.
Let me know if you want to collaborate on a video about Bully's strange little spots.
I know the whole map like the back of my hand.

GTA 3 was so dark and overcasty. It causes such depression. It felt like there was a party everyone else was at except you. Such as life itself.

I thought there was a race or something that took place around there. This must be what I was thinking of!
If anyone asks you why the Definitive Edition is missing ''soul'' or ''tone'', show them this video.
The “classic lighting” they just added recently made them a lot better.
@@PjKneiselyes
The classic lighting is good but they really need to add the newspapers back. If they did that it might honestly give that vibe back.

" GTA3 was the first true 3D openworld game. " thats strictly only an opinion never fact
This video and another video called 'That GTA3 feeling' are brilliant pieces of GTA3 liminality analysis
This video weirdly comforts me, I just love old Rockstar and especially GTA games.
0:47 I am a bit high and the transition from GTA to Final Fantasy music, while appreciated, made me think I was having a stroke

Can't believe you talked about Shoreside Vale without getting up to the massive grassy hills behind the dam. I remember getting back there and thinking just how massive and surprisingly detailed it was. All was fun until my car couldn't keep up with the slopes and slid down into the water.
The thing about the homeless people in the tunnel is that they all have petrol bombs
just like the real portland.
Bro I really like how enthusiastic you sound when commenting all these locations, your voice really cheered me up
Dead Air was always my favorite campaign of Left 4 Dead 1 specifically because of the airport segment.
To me it's still the best campaign of both games. It's just the perfect pacing. It has a vibe.
speaking about big empty airports, Midtown Madness has Meigs Field
This type of weird empty places are everywhere in the 3d era gta games but unlike Vice City where the ambience and seawaves sound made it relaxing the atmosphere and visuals of gta 3 made it creepy or uncanny
There is an off road mission that takes place in Portland Beach.
age 10, i'd ride my bike 10 minutes to the video rental store where they had a ps2 set up, $2 for 30 minutes. barely enough time to get through the opening scenes / mission and be able to free roam. i'd obsess over this murky rainy grimy city and all its eerie emptiness
For me, something that gives this game it's character is the trash you see blowing about the city. Rockstar dev Obbe Vermeij added them because he thought the streets looked too clean. There are 4 textures in total - 2 newspapers, 2 leaves.
Sadly missing from the Definitive Version, as many great features are.

Which makes no sense, because the water in GTA 4 is also polluted, but characters will swim just fine.
@@gabrielmartines3510 You think that's bad, the reason you can't swim in Vice City is that there's sharks in the water. No I'm not making that up, that the canon reason.
@@liamdell6319Yeah they used the worst possible excuses to justify it, would've make sense if it was the reason you can't go underwater tho.
Come across your channel recently, and the genuine fun and explorative feels your videos give are amazing, can't wait to see your channel grow!
I can finally rest easy knowing that someone finally mentioned the dock in Atlantic Quays. That was my spot back in the day.
I love this video! Thank you for reminding me of neat and strange places in GTA 3, glad your channel got recommended to me.
For me GTA 3 map looks different from the next games, less realistic and a bit more surreal. My favorite place on the map is the church area on Staunton Island. Out of place architecture, little cemetery on the backyard, huge ads on the modern building nearby, it's all looks uncanny and surreal.
6:24 there was some buildings in the beta stage of the game but they have to remove it because they were out of time considering deadline.
There is 1 mission that brings you to the beach in Portland, sorta, which is the checkpoint parkour sidemission when entering the Patriot at the Supa Save nearby. In Liberty City Stories you also get brought here in the final objective for the side mission See The Sight Before Your Flight.
1:00 is some serious comic timing.
You are an incredible creator, and I sincerely hope to be watching your videos and particularly your Gaming World Tours for the foreseeable future. Thank you, for you, Pretzel! :)
5:05 something about the calm music and past reflection mixed with a clip of a guy getting his guts blown out by a shotgun got me pretty good
Love the nostalgia in this video, reminds me of exploring the game as a kid and wanting to go all over the map to see what there was
This is by far my favourite of the GTA games - no other game in the series captured the atmosphere that this one did.
I remember when I first walked behind the flat wall of buildings, it felt quite uncanny. It’s a weird spot that has stuck with me since, I’m glad you mentioned it.
I also like the local train system in portland where you can take train or just walk around.
+1 Sub
When my Dad got me this game as a kid, I used to walk around exploring just like in this video. What a time!
6:43 there was supposed to be a power plant in this area
8:38 I think your obsession with secrets spots is blinding you to the cool gameplay possibilities born from this path. Like the beach, I don’t think the tunnel is ever used in the story. It’s an interesting secret “trick” to be used only by the most knowledgeable of players. That’s its own special type of corner in a games design.
Great video as always!
The only time I really used the tunnel was on ambulance missions, but I suppose it could be used when you pick up 8ball on bomb da base or whatever the mission is where you blow up the ship, since it leads right to that vicinity.
1:00 "Something about these just feels sad"
Meanwhile Traid member: *bonk*
Edit: btw., when it comes to the staircase next to Luigi's club - you can use it in the "Sayonara Salvatore" mission and snipe Salvatore from that vantage point.
A video about GTA 2s map (Downtown, Residentel & Industrial) world would be crazy.
In my opinion GTA 2 is more dark
Im absolutely loving these videos man. Gives me a warm feeling and that sense of wonder you get so often as a kid playing these games
Tbh Liberty City do feels like a realistic sprawling town, where walking around you may find some weird infrastructure you rarely came across(including in real life).
Can't wait for Vice City, where the town is smaller but better, yet a huge empty beach took over half of the map lmao.
5:24 “what were they thinking?!” nice avgn touch there
The lighthouse is accessible although very difficult as the collision map doesn’t match up with the textures you see as the player, lots of random cliff edges and things to watch out for as you’ll just slide off 😆
Amazing video!
"Claude can't swim" he can! its confirmed that in the early 2000s of Liberty City the water had an oil leak wich doesn't allow people to swim.
The cliffside with the back of the buildings almost looks unfinished to me
It was also very sweet of you to leave that warmth giving package for the Darko's :)
:)
15:55 I think both locations are based on Columbia University's campus. The spiderman recreation is almost one-to-one.
seeing gameplay of this is hitting me hard with nostalgia. i remember playing this when it came out!
its funny how much the beach and cliffside has a distinctively 'gta' look to it that continued into the rest of the games :)

I'd love to see one of these for Vice City, that game has some really weird little spots, especially island 2 xD
Amazing! Everything about this was perfect: The original PS2 gameplay and TV quality, the humour, the guides on how to reach all these spots,... It really displayed the game's atmosphere in the best way and I'd gladly re-watch this at a later date.
I'm gonna like this series. I also have an interest for the strange little spots.
