In some ways they looked better than 3 and Vice City. I enjoyed seeing those settings done with san Andrea's like graphics. I think the character models look better than San Andrea's too.

I gotta say this game probably has the greatest licensed soundtrack of any piece of media ever released. I genuinely feel that it is a step above Vice City's soundtrack, and we all know how good that was.

PSA: If you are playing it with emulators 60 FPS, very early mission "Boomshine Blowout" becomes impossible because timer in the mission goes twice as fast! Set it back to 30 FPS for that mission.
I remember getting this game on the ps2 without actually finishing vice city and my friends were telling me they played as an Italian guy with a Hawaiian shirt I was quite confused until I realized they were talking about vice city which it was my second gta game that I had but never finished it

I would assume that maybe due to the rendering load. VCS on PSP loads far less assets and vehicles in at any given time than the PS2 does but theoretically on any modern PC or the Steam Deck that really shouldn't be an issue for either system. May just be a quirk.
It's always hard for me to tell which GTA I like better between GTA IV and GTA VCS. I grew up with VCS, and love every aspects of the game. And IV has that brilliant story, a great feeling, and realism. ( 4:03 What's the music please ?)
PSP has better colors, PS2 has higher quality models and textures, the ultimate version is the PSP iso modded with PS2 assets that's available over at CDromance.
Another way to play this game is via PSTV especially modded one with sharpscale plugin. That plugin 4x integer scales to 1088 resolution and crops top 4 and bottom 4 pixels looks quite good. Especially with another right analog mod that adds proper camera controls.
Legit, I remember this game vividly not just for it's performance but it's ambition like sporting those mechanics from San Andreas with even less horse power. The PSP has balls.
GTA vice city stories probably only sold 4.5 million copies because everyone pirated games on PSP. It's one of the reasons why over 81 million PSP's were sold, but even the best sold game: GTA liberty city stories, only sold 8 million copies
It's just sad that Rockstar refuses to buy again the rights to use the image of Phil Collins, as well as his and Genesis songs. So we will never have a rerelease
I loved this game.. For me gta vice city was the best gta game because back in the day when it came out i was a child and i play sick to stay at home for school to play gta vc.. Gta sa is great too but gta vc is my favorite because when i see this game memories popping up in my head.. Its so nostalgic.. I am so glad that rockstar remaster those games of the 3d era

The original ps2 version is in my opinion the best. The game just doesn't feel the same when it's very sharp and it isn't made in mind with it anyways. I also really like the orange atmosphere, (that was also present in the ps2 version of gta sa) in the ps2 version of gta vcs.

Hopefully if the trilogy Definitive Edition does well maybe just maybe they do the Stories Collection Definitive Edition with this game and Liberty City Stories. you can also use a mod in ppsspp using cheats function to make 2nd analog stick functional to control camera & even a 5hitty PC can run the PPSSPP version in 3x resolution with anti aliasing so yeah ppsspp version is the best one

Hey Rooker, just watched your republic commando comparison video. Maybe you could do Jedi Academy, Microsoft Xbox VS PS2 vs Windows and look at the lightsabers, blasters, and the marks the sabers leave on the walls. I noticed a huge difference from Xbox and Windows

I want to emulate the game on my steam deck. So from the video I'd say I use the PPSSPP version. But what got me thinking, was him saying the PS2 got more controls because of the full controller setup. Can someone tell me something about what's different and if it's worth using the PS2 port?
The main downside to emulating the PS2 version is the input lag. It’s not so bad that it severely hinders gameplay, but it’s difficult to unnotice it once you do. But if you can look past that, I’d say it’s the better version. You get better visuals (including the Trails feature from GTA III and Vice City), more cars and NPCs roaming the city, analog camera control and even a few extra side missions.

VCS is the most underrated GTA game ever. A true gem. I'd love to get a proper pc version, or a Definitive Edition on both Stories.
Sometimes engine fails and bugged out some hilerious errors but agreed best PSP game imo.

Some engine and explosion sounds were changed when it was ported to PS2.
You can remove the blur effect, in the settings, on the ps2 version.

Vice city was one of the coolest experiences on the psp, a little frustrating at times, but absolutely mind blowing the psp could run this!

I have one of the now rare backwards compatible PS3's to play the PS2 version of this game on.
I bought VCS digitally for PS3 sometime in 2018. They must've removed it afterwards
