@@mammontustado9680 I see a hi-hat, a snare, and a bass drum, my brain says 3 pieces 😂 but yea I know what you mean, I'm just not a drummer so I didn't think of it that way.
1:34 this is what makes Nate a legend. Mark ends up playing the last note of a phase super late, Nate instantly picks this up and drags the next beat the exact same amount to make it part of the groove. Super hip.
A perfect lesson of less is more at 2:42! Sliver of space - crowd feels and hears it - great reaction! Nate played one of the nastiest groove solos I’ve ever heard - gotta watch again!!
Mark can play alot more intricate and complicated lines, but he is on the pocket with his trademark runs/fills. Nate is the glue for anyone else. 3 piece genius on drums. His body and head r like time pieces. So good but seems very humble.
Hands up everyone who watched and enjoyed the video, read the awesome comments, and went back to watch it again to pick up on all the epic stuff they missed.
I was there for my honeymoon over from the UK - couldn't believe they happened to be playing at MSG while we were there! Such an awesome gig, and the crowd was incredible - especially singing bass solos. Vulf and FF fans be tight yo 😁
THE LETHAL WEAPONS OF FUNK HAVE RETURNED
In FULL FORCE!!!
@Human McHoomanpants lol!
I lost my shit at this groove long ago.
It’s under the couch

@@DannySullivanMusic but so am I
Nate Smith does more with a fuckin 3 piece set than most drummers can ever dream of.
It's just a 2-piece actually, but I completely agree. He makes a minimalist drum setup sound huge
@@mammontustado9680 I see a hi-hat, a snare, and a bass drum, my brain says 3 pieces 😂 but yea I know what you mean, I'm just not a drummer so I didn't think of it that way.
@@MrStrangeSensation When talking about drums, you only count the actual drums, not the cymbals.
@@MrStrangeSensation When talking about drums, you only count the actual drums, so exclude the cymbals and the rest. I love his snaredrum sound.
Only the drums are counted.
I'm a Parrot. Brawk!
Man Nate's drums were mic'd CLEAN
riiiiight?? simultaneously has that Vulf room vibe, but with the fullness of fucking MSG lol
Amazing!
Agree! Would love to know the details of the signal chain. Of course, most of the sound is just Nate being Nate.
Kick and snare sound tight!
@@dyl_out snare. kick. hat.
Does it get ANY funkier?
the way Nate comes in on this groove is the nastiest thing ever
You are absolutely correct
Joe lookin like he's about to cough up a hairball
there is too damn much funk down in him and some of it needs to get out
hehehe
Yeah, he's a funky cat ^^
LOL!!! 😄😄😄
1:34 LMAO
2:34 - Joe has to physically restrict himself from playing bass over Nates groove
Someone cuff that man
He's making his bass float with the force he generates as he bobs his head.
because he's a mature musician who would never cut such a giant
They’re just fearless flyers
Mark's style is like a suggestion in your ear, its just whispering to ya, very gentle
He makes this whole track such a fucken _vibe_
He's doing a Woody Goss impression
@@-ppp-4029 he really is. perfect.
The fact they’re all blind makes it even cooler
Where do you get that, only Joe is blind.

@@shaundfg5737 my whole life has been a lie

Q. How can something sound so loose and so tight simultaneously?
A. Schrödingers funk.
🤣 i really like your quote😅
It’s incredible how groovy a normal backbeat can be when Nate Smith enters on the drums
1:34 this is what makes Nate a legend. Mark ends up playing the last note of a phase super late, Nate instantly picks this up and drags the next beat the exact same amount to make it part of the groove. Super hip.
Haha this made me smile
Pretty sure it's a triplet timing. No delay. Would that make sense?
A groove is like a frog, you can disect it and pull it apart and discover how it works, but it always ends up dead as a result
And him also playing all the 16th notes with Joe @0:28
Joe Dart is a bass god
Video analysis of Joe Dart's lore please.
And Nate Smith is the Ace of Aces.
He's going down in history. Mark my words.
All your bass is belong to Joe dart - Is is just me or is "bass" to much like the fish? We all just want to say base no?
thanks for the invincible breakdowns
you see this kids, this stuff is a real example of explicit bass
be careful, you might hurt yourself
especially your neck.
Seeing their instruments just floating stable in front of them messed with me for a sec ngl
In the camera angle at 1:33 you can pause at incriminating times where you truly see the full extent of Joe's neck
Don't want to...

That hi-hat work.
it sure do

Does that drum solo come as an edible? Cuz I have craving for more.
0:39 Woah, those one-handed hi-hat hits...
Man-o-man does Mark Lettieri just fit right in there smooth as silk - that guy is magical
From the moment Nate briefly unquantizes the drums (1:35) onward, this is gold
That drum kit has almost as many parts as Joe Dart's bass has knobs.
Marks sensability on these tracks is really incredible. His part elevated this track way higher then the original for me.
It's a good funkin' day to be alive.
Lost that treble... found that bass!
Man, what Mark adds to this track cannot be understated - LOVE IT so much man, gives it so much uniqie flavor compared to the original
for the first listen i only had my left headphone on and didn't realize what mastery i was missing
I only had in my right and your comment saved me from missing So Much,, thanks dude
Oh thanks... I’ll put my right headphone in now
Lol I'm listening with just my left headphone as well. Now you have me wanting to grab the other and just ignore everything else for 4 minutes
Love how Mark is playing the melody that comes in at 1:28. Every note is about 15 minutes late
nate made joe feel tingly things @ 1:34
This is vibey man.
One time where the FF version of a Vulf tune feels more chill and stripped down and I am 100% here for it.
Their Hero Town version f*ckin slaps too. My fave song of 2019
It's like Cory and Mark are the rhythm section FOR the rhythm section...which in this case is the main attraction...sooo sick
It really does go. Legend has it that Mr. Dart is still looking for his treble to this very day.
Nate Smith displays why the hi hat is the unsung hero of the drumset!
The audacity of Nate slaying an arena with a kick, snare and high-hat...
0:18 oh for fucks sake listen to how clean that shit is
The amazing thins you can do with just a snare, a bass drum and a hi-hat. Dang. Together with Joe's bass playing this is absolutely phenomenal.

But what does it control?
Is is incredible how Nate smith plays . He is almost out of time , the pocket is strong
Lazy bastard, almost droping it.
and hats are low
If you are refering to 2:32, he was playing the melody the bass played the whole song but rhythmically only. I was amazed that he brought that in !
Moaning in appreciation didn’t used to be part of my music listening experience, but then I found FF and Vulfpeck.
Love Joe's reaction when Nate immediately matches those triplet fills on the hi-hat - "LET'S FUCKING GO BRO"
