The horn section is the one thing missing from Vulfpeck. Don't get me wrong, though. I love me some Vulfpeck, but a slammin' (heh-heh, that's a Huey Lewis and the News reference) horn section takes it to a whole other level of awesomeness! Funk bands need horns! I was already aware of Kenni. I'm sure you already have, but you should look up Grace Kelly and check out more of her stuff. She's really great!

I don't know if that is what he used here, but one special technique by Wooten is to thumb and let a harmonic ring with the thumb nail up, followed by bending the harmonic with the left hand. Whatever he did here it sounds awesome!
Same. This is what I dreamed of creating all through my late teens and 20’s. Never quite had the god given talent to get to this level. Wasn’t for a lack of trying. I feel like I’m able to appreciate it all that much more though as a consumer. Love what the younger generation is doing for funk

Third: I'd have to shave my mustache - it's a part of my identity at this point. Fourth: even if I practiced for a decade, I don't think I'd be good enough to play with these guys...

Funk makes me miss Average White Band, AND Tower of Power, Brothers Johnson (“Get tha Funk outta Mah Face!” Funk is THE BEST GROOVE and DANCE music. At 67 I still have to Jump Out Ma Chair and get on the Floor. FUNK always puts me in a great mood If I’m not in the mood already! Yeah! Get Wit It Babe, get Dat Butt Jigglin and let me stand behind and just Watch it. So Hot. The shape of a woman’s . Great shapely Butt is truly a gift. I love watchin’ a beautiful woman “get Jiggy wit It” and one who knows how to move it and not be shy about movin’ it’
With THIS horn section, THIS bass solo and THIS rhythm section you almost started a new genre. I'll call if futurefunk. It grooved so hard I almost snapped my neck nodding along making a stank face throughout the entire song.
I also believe he is right. Victor is one of, if not THE, best electric bassists in the world, but his music isn't really accessible for a lot of people who aren't musicians themselves. He is a technical master, but a lot of his music isn't very catchy or have a hook to bring people in. Given the success of Vulfpeck, Cory has taken it to another level entirely with this band, and I think the only roadblock right now is just people don't know about his music. If they heard it, they'd love it!
When I saw that right handed guitar being played upside down, I knew it had to be Sonny Thompson. Loved his work with Prince and the NPG back in the day. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

Wow, this just showed up in my RUclips feed, probably because I've watched a lot of Victor Wooten videos. Victor is great as always, but, wow, I am blown away by this horn section! They are as good as Tower of Power's horn line from back in the day!

Vic is the fucking man. None better. He is the epitome of what music is about. Prolific material, always teaching here and there, always a smile and never seems to be doing anything else than having fun and enjoying the music. He just oozes dank fun awesome bass lines and I just can't muster anything but the most positive of sentiments for him. I hope one day I can dap him up and just tell him how much his music and attitude did for me. He was the first master of music I ever searched on RUclips. This was back in dialup days. I waited hours for a 5 min lesson and demo by him and it changed my life for the better. Put me on the beautiful path of music. Victor Wooten is important to me

The horns are off the hook. It's a revelation of sound. Kinda like when Jake and Elwood saw a vision and decided to get the band back together ( Blues Brothers) We need a regular dosing of music with this kind of intensity and syrupy sweet horns.
