That slight moment between falling several hundred meters and jumping off a cliff is when Mark went back to the main riff after that insane solo. What a player.
Every Cory Wong video notification gives a strange mixed feeling of "whaaat already? How did he..." and "Man..what a pleasure". Christmas every month with this beast ❤
its absurd. i like to solo everyone out with each play through to see exactly what they add and where and Negah is ALWAYS just on the right amount. she knows when to come in, when to leave, when to add some accent and when to sit back. It's really crazy how auxiliary percussion can add so much but not even be on 99% of peoples radar
Mark is a generational talent, incredible timing, understanding of harmonies and melodies. Just incredible to have his recordings available in such a quality and to get to see him in person.
Mark is phenomenal, period. Full of soul, feelings, technique, accuracy, superb timing and incredible dynamics. I honestly think he is super underrated and imho among the top very best players alive currently. Please never change Mr Lettieri, you're awesome and unique!
Mark’s approach to melody and guitar tones is amazing and unique, very characteristic of his work. Loved this tune and execution! Both of my current favorite guitar players together, it cannot get better!
This song made me realize how much of a role Mark played in the sound of the We Like It Here album by Snarky Puppy. Do not know why I have missed it until now but I am glad I have been awoken.
For sure. I actually didn't know the guitarist by name, as that album was my first intro to SP and Cory Henry and Larnell Lewiskind of overshadowed a lot of what happened there, but after the first two bars of the song I googled "Is Mark Lettieri in Snarky Puppy because it was so identifiable. I went back and listened closer to the guitar on the whole album after my first listen of this song, and really appreciate what he was doing there. It's funny, because I am a guitar player, but when I heard Lingus for the first time I heard the keyboard and the drummer going nuclear, and after reading that the drummer learned the song on the flight over and then played like that under Cory Henry's nuclear solo, it was mainly what I was listening to in that tune. But clearly the great lick he plays really ties the whole song together in a very important way, and his playing throughout is superb. I mean, all those dudes are insane, to be fair
I love that Cory’s able to keep the whole sound of the band at the forefront of our eat yet showcases the talent of his guests in such a precise and unique manner
I find this band similar to a group that was popular in the 1970s. That group were Scottish band Average White Band. They had hits such as Pick up the Pieces and Cut the Cake.
Mark has the most beautiful of phrasing and tone. He has that distinct sound and funk to it. Love it. And i don’t think i have seen anyone that enjoy rhythm guitar as much as cory. Love it!!!!
@@miguelmorais YES. Cory's rule when on set is all live with the only exception being background vocals and sampling (Big Wild comes to mind) with minimal audio processing
I had this on in the background. I've got auto play on, this came on with me knowing what it is. I 100% presumed it was a snarky puppy track i'd never heard before haha.
Mark flies over the stars here...... fly Mark....sailing high...taking off towards the end..... Cory & Crew right beside him - forging the alliance....not relenting!
So cool to see how happy it makes all the band to play with awesome musicians every time. Soon Nate Smith and Joe Dart !!! Maybe Vulfpeck and the Wongnotes ???
Well I'm in my 50s and was getting fairly dissolutioned with new music. In short I found dirty loops and Corey Wong and now Mark. They're all fairly different but one thing they all share besides wonderful chops is exquisite musicality. Pure joy.
Right!!....and frankly I've been looking for that same attribute in myself all day...I could be jealous like 8 billion other people...but I tend to be grateful that I was here in his time.
4:31 holy crap that lick rules

Killer comment :). haha, for SURE!
For real. That shit's so good it feels like it was edited in post.

Every month? More like twice a week!
Negah Santos is like the queen of "exactly enough"

Petar echoing Marks phrase at 4:22 was... chef’s kiss

come see us on tour this fall! he's gonna be out with us all tour
@@CoryWongMusic just bought ATL tickets!
@@CoryWongMusic You better come to Portugal soon!

I'm late to the party with Mark after hearing Fearless Flyers when they got together, but you're right, incredibly underrated.
His phrasing is really distinct and original and his tone selection is so nuanced and varied.
Well said. Completely agree.
I love the moment at 3:00 where it sounds like Nêgah Santos replies to that rhythm Mark plays! Such great musicianship!
Mark’s approach to melody and guitar tones is amazing and unique, very characteristic of his work. Loved this tune and execution!
Both of my current favorite guitar players together, it cannot get better!
He's nasty
He really created his own style. Those cats are the best ones
He's not a guitarist, he is a real musician... same for cory...
4:10… wow what a transition out of that solo
I feel like Mark is one of the first non-country or non-surf guitarists to make his mark playing the low end of the guitar. Great track.
Nice observation.. Love that element of his playing. Mark can really rock a baritone too..
@@willpopemusic Agree! Anyone even remotely interested in Mark after this should check out his "Deep: The Baritone Sessions" albums
I always think of Greg Brown of Cake too
Tony Iommi
You should pay better attention.

I also didn't realize he was a a founding member of the Fearless Flyers. Holy crap.
also don’t forget how much pressure was on the brass instruments after the solo 😂, they nailed it
Holy shitttttt Mark’s guitar’s tone is so goddamn good
Yep it's a baritone guitar.
@@inspektorsowa this is not a baritone guitar. This is his signature PRS Fiore, a traditional electric with HSS pickup configuration
I love that Cory’s able to keep the whole sound of the band at the forefront of our eat yet showcases the talent of his guests in such a precise and unique manner
Concrete is an accurate description for what I'm feeling after Mark's final lead phrases - Rock hard 💦
Amazing arrangement
Ew
Fine, but we didn’t need that emoji…
One of the tightest, most in the pocket bands I've heard. Really incredible.
Dang. Cory and Mark. Two of the absolute best in the biz right now. Straight fire! This is my new jam.
I love how he keeps to the tune and its composer. He doesn’t just address technique but the song itself.
I haven’t heard something THAT good in a long time 🤯
4:16 oh my goodness! The energy almost blew the roof off of that place! Insane. ♥️
Best part in this video
Mark's tone is insane!

OH HELL YEAH!!
The question is, did you record a reaction before posting the above comment? 😂
this is ridicolously good. Mark taste on every note and phrase he plays is outstanding
The drummer’s keeping it tight! Well done, everyone!

2:28 thank you Mr Sonny T
Loved that solo. Thought I was listening to Scofield for a second.
That Fiore is amazing! The energy in this track is incredible. Wong + Lettieri is a killer combo IMHO.
These guys stand on the shoulders of the greats - and simultaneously forge new ground and in their own way stand alone... Frankly amazing
Brilliant. I could hear shades of Jeff Beck in the solo.
Mark is a perfect addition to the Wongverse. Funky, chops for days, and so rhythmic. Great collaboration! Thank you Cory!
Mark is such a star. Loved by the jazz people, funk people, rock people. Dude is Van Halen, Frank Gambale, and David Williams in one.
I think you must include some Jeff Beck influence in there too.
@@johnb7889 Look up his solo on Snarky Puppy's "Grown Folks" live at the 2018 Django Reinhardt festival. It has Beck written all over it.
the funk breakdowns on this whole album have been great, but the one on this song really speaks to my soul - love it!
That lightshow on the floor is super cool too
Mark so good
Sweet mother of heavy funk, that song was slammin’”. This new album is going to be soooooo good
It's already out!
Dope performance. It is great to hear a Fender Strat in convo with a PRS Fiore....they complement each other
If you've ever seen Dave Matthews Band live, this feels the same. Love it.
What incredible choices Mark made within his playing and with the selection of the WHITE PRS FIORE!
LOL, yeah, she's a beaut', Eric! (I love my Amaryllis Fiore.) Amazing performance all around by everyone!
3:03 this is the most dope use off a trem ive ever heard
GOD Bless You 🎸🎸🎸
How is this so good!?
They must be independently wealthy?

this is soooo good, you are all the best, what a fantastic musicianship. love it.
Big Snarky Puppy vibes while still being unmistakeably Cory & the Wongnotes
My first thought too. Had to scroll down to find this gem.
The only thing that gives it away is that crazy funk in between the heavy riff
Lampley's getting into it back there!
Enter! Sandman!!! Taste some funk! Jokin.
Superb track. Superb collab.
the feel of Petar man holy shit!!!!
Mark lettieri has the best shoulder game hands down
Hope this gets played on this tour!!

At 1:57, you can see the percussionist doing stick tricks. Neat!
Are you kiding me!!!!!!!!!!!!
No!!!! It’s frikkin awesome, right??!! 😆👍
The solo was on fire! I love it. 🔥🔥🔥
Mark is as good as it gets. His playing literally keeps me on the edge of my seat wondering what he's gonna do next. I love going on that journey!

1:57 Nice drumstick spin, Negah!
I love Mark Lettieri’s style. I could definitely hear some Jeff Beck and Joe Satriani influences.

Yes! It sounds like a blend of both snarky puppy and Cory Wong.
That climax at the end was... climatic!! 💣💥
This is the best fucking instrumental in the last 20 years
Not even close.
One of my favorite guitar solos out there. The way he ends it is just so incredibly musical. Love his feel.
SUPERRRRRRRRRRR
Cory is such an awesome supporting band member and an amazing rhythm guitarist. This whole vibe is so good
far out, as well as a grin-inducing groove, what a triumphant guitar solo
The energy of this song cannot be matched. 💯
The snarky puppy vibes are ooozing from this song. Mark and Cory need to collab for a full album. Until then, flyers 3 is so LIT!
Satriani style lick at 4:24 sounds great!

Love the harmonic procession and then the distortion. So great.
