This is the most mindblowing, crazy, fabolous, and absoloutely fucking insane cover i have ever seen. As a person who has been a drummer for 12 years, i have to say these are some of the most tallented individuals on this earth. I bow to these people 🙏🏻
For whoever's trying to figure out what happens metrically: The majority of the song is in 12/8 time (4 groups of 3 eighth-notes), which you could also think of as 4/4 with a triplet subdivision. 1 + a 2 + a 3 + a 4 + a However, from 3:20 onwards, it shifts to 3/2 i.e. 3 groups of 4 eighth-notes which also makes 12. (Instead of a standard 'half-time' feel at 50% of the tempo, it's kind of a 'three-quarter-time' feel at 75% of the tempo.) The ride bell marks every beat, and the snare is on the 8th eighth-note, anticipating the third beat. 1 e + a 2 e + *_a_* 3 e + a Now for what happens at That One Break at 4:13 - the off-beat snare hit becomes the downbeat of a virtual 12/8 bar, which is then filled with 4:3 quadruplets. (or, if you considered the original groove to be 4/4 with triplets: straight sixteenth-notes.) Mathematically you can work out that _none_ of these notes will fall precisely on the 'real' _one._ 1 e + a 2 e + [1e+a 2e+a 3e+a 4e+a] *_a_* 3 e + a (between brackets going at 133% speed)
This tune is so much more than I expected! Code progression, arrangement, Bass Line ever so beautiful ,then Cory Wong finally made himself one of major artists like modern day Nile Rodgers! it doesn't matter your kind of music. If you're a musician, when listening this band play, it's impossible not to get excite.
Very cool. Thriller with The Way You Make Me Feel groove underneath. But that horn interlude makes the whole tune take flight on the choruses out. Dirty Loops never fails to deliver.
awesome!
Nothing about this is less than completely awesomeness! Loved the Mancini reference in the horns! And 12/8 with a halftime shuffle? Dayum!
Every musician performs perfectly but Johan's voice is something else 🔥🔥🔥
Aron Mellergard is just an amazing drummer, isn't he?
This!
he's alright! I approve of this
He´s OK for being a Dirty Loop. ;-)
That snare sound...hot damn
Amazing...? Now if THAT isn't the understatement of the year.
Just blows my mine how talented all of these musicians are!!!!😮
band of the century ... killer arrangement ...
This album is so fire that Jonah and Henrik have merged into one being
The mythological beast known as 'Hendrah'
Jonik
@@ericjacobsson1 lol
@@ericjacobsson1 Hendra was usual name at Indonesia, but every Hendra I met was an asshole. :(
The synth solo is a homage to the late Lyle Mays of Pat Metheny Group, starting out like his synth solo on "Follow Me" from the PMG album "Imaginary Day".
Great Awareness! 👍🏽
RIP. What a legend
Just like Lyle, taking you to unexpected places of joy.
Yes yes, "Follow Me"! That section at 3:36 reminded me of Pat Metheny, but couldn't remember which track. Thank you for pointing this out! 😍
Yes, and the orchestration is very very reminiscent of this bit of "Finding and Believing" from Metheny's Secret Story album ruclips.net/video/soxR_MVlYxc/видео.html
The drummer and the bassist are the best in this video, the kick and bass are killer
This is becoming my most favourite RUclips video of all time
I have never spent so much time with my mouth wide open!!!! Absolutely astonishing. From the breakdown in I was completely in awe. And This isn’t even the first of them I’ve seen. The harmonisation of the band was astounding. These guys have recalibrated my understanding of music. I’m completely dumbstruck.
That orchestrated instrumental part is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. And that ending with the vocal sustained on that high note and then the orchestral ending... incredible work.
This is the most mindblowing, crazy, fabolous, and absoloutely fucking insane cover i have ever seen. As a person who has been a drummer for 12 years, i have to say these are some of the most tallented individuals on this earth. I bow to these people 🙏🏻
Easily one of the best videos on YT. Absolutely incredible
WONG LOOPS!
Dirty Cory 😀
Dirty Wong

hahahaha
Dirty first !! (I thought the same)
For whoever's trying to figure out what happens metrically:
The majority of the song is in 12/8 time (4 groups of 3 eighth-notes), which you could also think of as 4/4 with a triplet subdivision.
1 + a 2 + a 3 + a 4 + a
However, from 3:20 onwards, it shifts to 3/2 i.e.
1 e + a 2 e + *_a_* 3 e + a
Now for what happens at That One Break at 4:13 - the off-beat snare hit becomes the downbeat of a virtual 12/8 bar, which is then filled with 4:3 quadruplets. (or, if you considered the original groove to be 4/4 with triplets: straight sixteenth-notes.) Mathematically you can work out that _none_ of these notes will fall precisely on the 'real' _one._
1 e + a 2 e + [1e+a 2e+a 3e+a 4e+a] *_a_* 3 e + a
(between brackets going at 133% speed)
YES! These guys are fabulous musicians! Absolutely astonishing! This is beyound talent. This is virtuosity and genious!
Michael lives on…you guys bring magic to the classics…please keep ‘em coming!
I don’t have to see any other Thriller covers to know this is the best one that has ever been done, or ever will be one. An instant all timer.
This tune is so much more than I expected! Code progression, arrangement, Bass Line ever so
beautiful ,then Cory Wong finally made himself one of major artists like modern day Nile Rodgers!
He really added tight cutting onto the song.
Everything is outstanding..one of the greatest cover of King MJ all time! Totally blown out!!
This group of musicians is tight! Excellent rendition of MJ Thriller!
This is another musical adaptation from another universe entirely.
It's no surprise that the great QJ signed them before anyone else did.
They're just a one of a kind band, really. A band wich figured out the delicate balance that exist when you listen to them as another musician, or just as a fan who enjoys their music. They'll rock your world in both cases.
Music has brought forth a new genre.
It's called Dirty Loops.
The bar was just raised a little higher...
I wonder when the Mothership will return to take them away....., this is truly unbelievable once again.
Rock on, guys!!!! 😎
David Foster signed them first, to Verve Records. That's their label they released Loopified on.
I stand corrected, Lorraine.
Yur right. 😉
Jeroen, I think Quincy has also “Counter” signed them to be able to Produce Legend Recordings such as this. He must have a “Dirty Share” deal signed with VERVE !!
You are 💯% Spot On the Money with the rest of your Comment: ⭕️⭕️DIRTY LOOPS⭕️⭕️ are in a League of their Own and a New Genre.
If Michael Jackson was still on this Earth, he would have been singing in this Recording along side of Jonah. That would have propelled Dirty Loops into World Wide Stardom and Recognition. Once the world finds a way to function “Covid Normal” and Dirty Loops begins touring, it will NOT take long for them to become bigger than their Swedish counterparts ABBA (2022 Prediction)

You could be right, Paul! He's a smart man! 😀
Everybody: "There's only one way to play the Thriller groove"
Dirty Loops: "Let me rephrase that"

Wow! The rhythmic movement and horns in the solos section is superb.
Am i the only one who was expecting there to be a little pause after the horn section's bit, and Cory to jump in with some real Stanky funk bits? Dirty loops was incredible as always
Exactly!
Not hating.. but having a hard time seeing his role in this piece, needs some more space to shine
@@ultimatum369 likely his role this time is the arrangement altogether. I might have come for dirty loops, but you might be here for Corey. Name recognition, my friend
You're not the only one for sure!
You're not the only one, I said the same thing about the other song they released. Also, I'm seriously beginning to hate that ultra-over-compressed-cant-ear-anything Dirty Loops pseudo-commercial sound, or whatever its or not called... its literally getting on my nerve. I'm just about to unsubscribe!
So crisp. So clean. The caliber of your talent is insane
Best Thriller cover so far.
Tremenda versión ! Que músicos y cantante!! Genios!
1:56 that break .. splendid
Outstanding in every aspect - musicianship on an extraordinary level
This is such an unbelievably talented group of musicians! It's magic happening!!!!!!! And the icing on the musical cake, is that they all seem to be really having a great time.
wtf?!?!?! who aree theese dudes??!?! they are fantastic! so good to hear real organic music, omg!!! love these guys !!!
It's eerie how at 3:50 the chords played by the horn section sound exactly like something from Snarky Puppy... In the comment section under another Dirty Loops video someone suggested a collaboration of Dirty Loops, Snarky Puppy and Jacob Collier - what a mind-blowing idea!
ETA: No wonder about the Snarky Puppy sound - of course, Jon Lampley!!!
Dirty loops are the band of the century ❤

Oh man, this drummer is a legend
Zur Zeit beste Band, bin tief beeindruckt, dass es das heute gibt! Danke, danke, danke!
This is the most amazing cover in the history of covers. That drummer! Who is that! Dude is spectacular!!!
At 4:14 I hear something that made my ears perk up! He was riding on top of his own drum rhythm or something! What was that!!!!!
Actually ... If you want to explore more incredible covers, check out Nguyen Le's "Songs of Freedom" and "Purple." I promise you won't be disappointed.
Stevie wonder and Micheal Jackson trapped in the body of a white Swedish guy fantastic music
But he randomly has Keith Emerson's keyboard brilliance
I thought the same thing! Fantastic
Absolutely Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson in a white guy…..he’s brilliant
Lord you said that got me cracked up ur choice of words 🙏 but so true
I do not like the comparison. Jonah is different in so many ways, and more multidimensional. The history of music is great, and the progress cristalizes in Dirty Loops.
What an arrangement! Killer, killer, killer performances! Bravo!!!
This is so good it is insane.
Dirty Loops are so incredibly tight! I wish i could play drums that good
Top tier musicians. The whole production is fantastic.
Man! It sure is refreshing to see musicians who actually look like they are having a good time. Some look soo uptight it kind of brings me down. Thanks D-Loops!
Yes, you’re so right! Music should be about passion and fun
The Drummer! What a talent. What a band , what a music....
Wow;!!!!
