May I just say this to my Protestant brothers and sisters: Thank you for your questions, critiques, and comments. I hope to be able to discuss the theological and Biblical basis for my conversion in a different forum. But in light of some of the comments about Catholicism, Protestant critiques of Catholicism will carry more weight and will be taken more seriously if it is rooted in what Catholicism teaches instead of what you think it teaches. At the very least, before making your judgments, please show that you have read official Catholic documents such as the Catechism or even Catholic translations of Scripture. Then your judgments will actually be fair and rooted in truth; which is what Catholicism is interested in, what I as a sincere Catholic seek, and what I hope you seek as followers of Christ. Then our dialogue will be fruitful and we can honestly discuss what we as Catholics believe and what our other Christian denominations believe in the spirit of Christ’s prayer in John 17:17, 21. As you want to make sure I am not misrepresenting your denomination’s beliefs and practices, I also appeal for the same courtesy. May God bless each one of you and your respective families.

Wow I want to thank this guy for leading me to SDAdventists. Never heard of them till this video. So I started to look into this religion. Came across a book called The Great Controversy. Totally makes sense now my family and I are going to be baptized members.
I was born in Sikh family in 1958. I got married to a Sikh guy in 1982. And we both become Christian through healing miracle of our elder son in 1985. I came across to hear about the Catholic teaching during Covid 19 it was in 2021 through You Tube where I listened to a pastor vlog.... I was so impressed and make me continously listening to him. Till I fully believed it and was baptized into the Catholic on 20 Nov 2022. My husband, children and grandchildren joinning me on the same mass and at last the two of my sons confirmed to join the cathecheism in Jan 2024 with their wives as well. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit amen.

From your own word that it was attended by by Bishops, and Patriach meaning the church was already existed before the council of Nicea. The council addressed Arianism not the founding of the Church because the Church already existed before the Council of Nicea.

@@tony1685 well per that logic and given no church of the apostles before 1500 or before May 21st, 1863, Battle Creek, Michigan, United States, put the lord's day on Saturday instead put it on a Sunday for it is the lord's day not when he rested (per Jewish tradition that signifies the first creation, the old testament, btw the Sabbath derives from Hebrew šāḇaṯ "to rest") but when he rose (the new creation, the new testament, put on the day where god said let there be light, btw a little aside the way people managed to recreate the shroud of Turin is by shooting high powered UV light, take from that what you will) for the new holy day is found in Jesus Christ. So that would mean that the church at 2nd century for the latest (you kinda start seeing it happen in acts 20:7 and some other places tbh but nvm it) were all advocating heresy or sin which would mean Jesus was wrong in Mat 16:18 and the gates of hell really did prevail over the church, which per YOUR conviction would make him not God. That would be pretty quick given the bible wasn't even compiled at this time, which by the way was done by the Catholic church. Obviously i am biased as i am a catholic and listen i love god and i know you do too, but I'd rather follow the church i believe Christ established through the apostles than the church Ellen G. @@pajamaninja2157 i believe Scripture covers the entire existence of earth - from Creation to ReCreation and even into Heaven to come. and interestingly enough, both the OT and the NT prove the LORD's day is the 7th day Sabbath. because of His death, burial and resurrection, Christians are directed to partake in full submersion baptism - per Colossians 2:12, Romans 6:3-4, 1 Peter 3:21 couple logical questions: 1 - doesn't a Christian know God - as 1 John 2:3 shows ? 2 - doesn't a Christian love Christ - as John 14:15 proves ? 3 - doesn't God's church uphold Truth - like 1 Tim 3:15 has established for us ? if you believe these are true, then clearly you haven't done a full study. they have proven to me clearly that catholicism isn't Christianity and after 35 yrs of being catholic, i now follow Biblical Christianity. i pray you're well and safe, friend! but please, for time and space sake, let's focus on what the Word of our Creator shows us, rather than speculation. thanks in advance!

I do not understand what you mean when you say that the Seventh Day Adventist Church is the true church of God. In Mathew 18:16, Jesus said to Saint Peter, "You are Rock. And, on this Rock, I will build my church", which is the Catholic Church.
“Love is light in whatsoever house it may shine.” This applies to Adventists, Jehovah Witnesses, Catholics, Evangelical Christians and all other human beings.
Norman seems to be a nice person, but I feel very sorry for him. He studied at a school which is very shallow, seemingly never deeply understood biblical foundation of what SDAs believe, probably never read "Great Controversy" (which I would challenge every honest Catholic to do). His experience is more emotional than biblical, he avoids deeper theological discussion of some issues like prayers to the saints (completely not biblical) and many more. We as SDAs love Catholics as people, but we disagree theologically based on the Bible as the Word of God. This will certainly not any SDA who is biblically rooted.

OK. Obviously, the discussion is to large to be discussed in this short video, or even in that longer one. But I would encourage everyone to dig deep when it comes to Bible and when it comes to Catholics to check the biblical argumentation of the Adventists, but to be fair, we Adventists should also know biblical arguments of the Catholics and then, when we know well both sides, under prayer and using our reason, we need to make our decisions, knowing that we will be accountable to God in the end, not to any man.

I am a former Seventh Day Adventist and converted to Catholicism 13 years ago. I was born into SDA from former Catholics! My mother was furious but never abandoned her belief in the Holy Eucharist, but never returned to her faith in Catholicism even knowing adventists don't believe in the true presence.
according to Scripture, catholicism doesn't believe in God's Ten Commandments - which are shown throughout all Scripture. but you can't find ONE TIME in all the Bible where any believed they were actually consuming the literal body and blood of Christ. this would be in violation of many verses in Scripture. i pray you decide to study Scripture thoroughly and without bias, friend. former (35 yr) catholic, now Christian and Bible teacher. questions welcomed and encouraged.

Leaving Catholicism for Protestantism is *pain-free* for a Catholic (no more Church rules to follow, no more confession to a priest). In contrast, leaving Protestantism for Catholicism is *painful* (loss of ministry career, friendship of congregation, etc) as this Adventist minister exemplifies. I am a former rome catholic converted to protestan church. The reason is rome catholic is still dealing with Ocultism and Sincristim. Rome catholic still preserve those rituals till now.. catholic church mixes up the doctrines of church and the rituals of Ocultism and Sincristim.
Well, if that is your stance well and good. FYI Catholic means one unique Christan community world over. And rest are all protestants more that 25000 denimjnations. Sadly all them have their own interpretations. What's most sad their pastors are filthy rich. Bear in mind Jesus carries His Mother's blood in his veins. 1. This is a very timely video in that 'the pearl of great price' that Norman found in Catholicism is the Gospel reading for this Sunday, July 30th, 2023, that of Matthew 13:44-52. 2. The painting in the background is The Road to Emmaus by Swiss painter Robert Zund from 1877. This is a depiction from the 24th chapter of Luke's Gospel where Jesus appears and walks with two of His disciples. The New testament never tells us about any moment when ONLY Christians gathered on the Sabbath day to worship God. The only thing that the New testament says is that apostles like Paul often visited synagogues on the Sabbath day, but those visits were meant to preach the gospel to the UNBELIEVING Jews gathered in such synagogues; he didn't go there to join the Jews there to worship God on the Sabbath day ( majority of the Jews in those days DID NOT believe in Jesus Christ. Why would a BELIEVER like Paul go to a synagogue on the Sabbath day to join UNBELIEVERS in worshipping God ? )

The Sabbath was changed by the catholic church, as they themselves have said. They said that they had the "authority" by God(they say) to change it. Upon this point, I agree with them, since the Bible gives NO VALIDITY to Sunday observance. This is from the Encyclopedia Britannica. It's unthinkable that an SDA would become Catholic. The problem isn't just the Sabbath... What about the first and second commandments? The veneration of the Virgin Mary? Prayers to the saints? The statutes of the saints, of Jesus, of Mary? The lie about purgatory and hell? Paradie? Death? It's really incredible to turn your back on the truth. SDAs always fear the Catholics over a never-coming Sunday law. It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to think that the Roman Catholic Church would ever have the power to enforce anything (including any doctrine) upon anyone. *The Catholics themselves have been fiercely opposed and against the death penalty since Vatican II* . So the notion of enforcing a law regarding who can buy and sell with threat of capital punishment is simply not in their philosophy and thought anymore. Further, since the majority of world is not Christian, why would any Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or any other of the many world religions ever bow to the will of the papacy? And consider billions of secularists, agnostics, atheists and God-denying communists? Who is going to force them to worship anything at all?

Well... so many thoughts arising from what I heard (I am SDA and my dad was a life-long pastor). I also studied philosophy at an SDA seminary school that had other curriculum other than just a seminary, including philosophy, and find the statement made about the SDA position on this topic difficult to agree with. So the author went to La Sierra College/University and this explains much, if not all of the sad results. La Sierra is known to be the most liberal school in the SDAC, having very little in common or in agreement with it. He probably followed a very shallow educational program with lots of external educational influences, hence his lack of conviction with any true biblical teachings, especially those discovered by the Protestant Reformation. His partaking in the Catholic Eucharist believing that a human priest can re-sacrifice Jesus on the cross at will, and/or convert wine into His blood or a piece of bread into His body is just bewildering and beyond my understanding. Incidentally, the SDA Church is NOT anti-Catholic as the author said, and they love the Catholic brothers, but they also believe biblical truth as given to prophets Daniel and John, thru the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

May I just say this to my Protestant brothers and sisters: Thank you for your questions, critiques, and comments. I hope to be able to discuss the theological and Biblical basis for my conversion in a different forum. But in light of some of the comments about Catholicism, Protestant critiques of Catholicism will carry more weight and will be taken more seriously if it is rooted in what Catholicism teaches instead of what you think it teaches. At the very least, before making your judgments, please show that you have read official Catholic documents such as the Catechism or even Catholic translations of Scripture. Then your judgments will actually be fair and rooted in truth; which is what Catholicism is interested in, what I as a sincere Catholic seek, and what I hope you seek as followers of Christ. Then our dialogue will be fruitful and we can honestly discuss what we as Catholics believe and what our other Christian denominations believe in the spirit of Christ’s prayer in John 17:17, 21. I was born in Sikh family in 1958. I got married to a Sikh guy in 1982. And we both become Christian through healing miracle of our elder son in 1985. I came across to hear about the Catholic teaching during Covid 19 it was in 2021 through You Tube where I listened to a pastor vlog.... I was so impressed and make me continously listening to him. Till I fully believed it and was baptized into the Catholic on 20 Nov 2022. My husband, children and grandchildren joinning me on the same mass and at last the two of my sons confirmed to join the cathecheism in Jan 2024 with their wives as well. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit amen.

1 - doesn't a Christian know God - as 1 John 2:3 shows ?

Norman seems to be a nice person, but I feel very sorry for him. He studied at a school which is very shallow, seemingly never deeply understood biblical foundation of what SDAs believe, probably never read "Great Controversy" (which I would challenge every honest Catholic to do). His experience is more emotional than biblical, he avoids deeper theological discussion of some issues like prayers to the saints (completely not biblical) and many more. We as SDAs love Catholics as people, but we disagree theologically based on the Bible as the Word of God. This will certainly not any SDA who is biblically rooted.

OK. Obviously, the discussion is to large to be discussed in this short video, or even in that longer one. But I would encourage everyone to dig deep when it comes to Bible and when it comes to Catholics to check the biblical argumentation of the Adventists, but to be fair, we Adventists should also know biblical arguments of the Catholics and then, when we know well both sides, under prayer and using our reason, we need to make our decisions, knowing that we will be accountable to God in the end, not to any man.

I am a former Seventh Day Adventist and converted to Catholicism 13 years ago. I was born into SDA from former Catholics! My mother was furious but never abandoned her belief in the Holy Eucharist, but never returned to her faith in Catholicism even knowing adventists don't believe in the true presence.

It seems you have not read the canons of Council of Laodecia. It was there that started the actual Catholic prohibition of keeping the Sabbath.

1. This is a very timely video in that 'the pearl of great price' that Norman found in Catholicism is the Gospel reading for this Sunday, July 30th, 2023, that of Matthew 13:44-52.

The New testament never tells us about any moment when ONLY Christians gathered on the Sabbath day to worship God.
The only thing that the New testament says is that apostles like Paul often visited synagogues on the Sabbath day, but those visits were meant to preach the gospel to the UNBELIEVING Jews gathered in such synagogues; he didn't go there to join the Jews there to worship God on the Sabbath day ( majority of the Jews in those days DID NOT believe in Jesus Christ. Why would a BELIEVER like Paul go to a synagogue on the Sabbath day to join UNBELIEVERS in worshipping God ? )

The Sabbath was changed by the catholic church, as they themselves have said. They said that they had the "authority" by God(they say) to change it. The catholic church says, when questioned about the Sabbath, that there is no Scripture that will verify Sunday observance. Upon this point, I agree with them, since the Bible gives NO VALIDITY to Sunday observance.

It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to think that the Roman Catholic Church would ever have the power to enforce anything (including any doctrine) upon anyone. *The Catholics themselves have been fiercely opposed and against the death penalty since Vatican II* . So the notion of enforcing a law regarding who can buy and sell with threat of capital punishment is simply not in their philosophy and thought anymore.
Further, since the majority of world is not Christian, why would any Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or any other of the many world religions ever bow to the will of the papacy? And consider billions of secularists, agnostics, atheists and God-denying communists? Who is going to force them to worship anything at all?
Perfect response! Not to mention, Catholic Christians have never formed the majority in the United States. They're the largest single/unified religious group overall, but far from a majority...why then, would a secular government with so many non-Catholic representatives bend the knee to a hypothetical Sunday law because the Pope says so?

Well... so many thoughts arising from what I heard (I am SDA and my dad was a life-long pastor). I also studied philosophy at an SDA seminary school that had other curriculum other than just a seminary, including philosophy, and find the statement made about the SDA position on this topic difficult to agree with.
So the author went to La Sierra College/University and this explains much, if not all of the sad results. La Sierra is known to be the most liberal school in the SDAC, having very little in common or in agreement with it. He probably followed a very shallow educational program with lots of external educational influences, hence his lack of conviction with any true biblical teachings, especially those discovered by the Protestant Reformation. His partaking in the Catholic Eucharist believing that a human priest can re-sacrifice Jesus on the cross at will, and/or convert wine into His blood or a piece of bread into His body is just bewildering and beyond my understanding.
Incidentally, the SDA Church is NOT anti-Catholic as the author said, and they love the Catholic brothers, but they also believe biblical truth as given to prophets Daniel and John, thru the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
His testimony indicates that he doesn't know the true History of Catholism or History of the Catholic Church
On the contrary, he has done his research. He has read the writings of the early Church Fathers which spurred his decision to find out more

The Trinity in the Old Testament. This begins at the beginning. In Genesis, we have God making the world, the Spirit hovering over the water, and God speaking to create. In this, we can observe God the Father and the Spirit, as well as even the Son as the Word which God speaks (
-----In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1).
The Hebrew word for God is Elohim. Elohim is a plural noun but it is used here with a singular verb bara. In the remainder of the Old Testament, when Elohim speaks of the true God, it is always used with a singular verb. The conclusion to be drawn is that in some sense God is both singular and plural. The doctrine of the Trinity states this - within the nature of the one God there are three eternal persons.

We find a further hint of the Trinity in Genesis 1.
Then God said, "Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth" (Genesis 1:26).
The phrase "let us" again gives the idea of plurality. The word "us" cannot refer to angels because angels do not create.
Therefore, in the first chapter of the Bible we have a hint of the Trinity with the plural title Elohim used with a singular verb and God speaking and saying, "Let us."
The words "let us" is used elsewhere of God speaking in Genesis. After Adam and Eve sinned the Bible records.

At the incident at the Tower of Babel we read God saying.

Another Plural Name For God - Maker
There is another instance in the Isaiah where there is a second plural name for God.
For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is his name; the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called (Isaiah 54:5).
The word translated, "Maker" is plural in Hebrew. Therefore we have a second Hebrew word that is plural that is used of God.
