A Presbyterian Minister's Journey to Catholicism - Dean Waldt

  • As a young Christian, Dean Waldt wanted to serve the Lord with his life, but his first experience of ordained ministry left him burned out, and he left to pursue a career in law.
When he revisited the idea of ministry through an opportunity to work with youth at his church, Dean discovered a new zeal for learning about the faith, and the more he prayed and studied, the more he realized that God was calling him toward the Catholic Church.

Welcome home! I was Presbyterian for 55 years and ordained elder for 30 of those years. When the Presbyterian Church showed some sins as not a sin, I had to leave and study what the early church was like. In no time, I was in RCIA and studying to become Catholic. 3 years later, my only desire is why didn't I do it sooner. The more I read the Bible, the more I love my Catholic faith

”Wherever the bishop shall appear, there, let the multitude of the people also be; even as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. “( Letter to the Smyrnaeans, Chapter 8)-St.Ignatius of Antioch, 107 AD
St. Ignatius of Antioch was a disciple of St. John the Apostle and was installed as the 3rd Bishop of Antioch by St. Peter the Apostle (most likely) after the 2nd Bishop Evodius died. Ignatius was also one of the children Jesus Blessed in scripture.

I too have been a cradle practicing Catholic for 64 years and always knew I was in the right place. But I never could defend it through the bible. So for lent during covid year I started to learn. Now I can defend it, because I read and listened to many videos. I started with conversion stories to see what they were protesting against our faith. The first conversion story I listened to was Scott Hahn, then Steven Ray and Tim Staples.

Invite them to mass. I was Presbyterian all my life (55 years, 30 as an ordained elder ) and when I finally went to mass, I saw everything as biblical. I had a dream as a child and didn't know what it was until I stepped inside the Catholic Church. I truly believe that God revealed to me the mass in a dream. If they show interest, get them a Catholic Answers Bible or the Didache Bible. Both have inserts throughout that explain Catholic teaching using scripture. I have both and they are great!
      Pray for them.

Unlike the times when we were kept away from it. I was a catholic walked 350 kms to a so called mother Mary’s miraculous shrine. Cycled the same, but by the grace of Elohim I got converted and will NEVER get back to the deceit of Catholicism. There are many Protestants and evangelicals who are as bad as the catholics but that does not mean I should abandon the WORD.

@@Bethmin7you call yourself christian and joined denominations that just started less than 500 years ago.
Bro/sis, the word christian was first used in Antioch back in the 1st and century. Those people who follow Jesus and His Church called themselves christians. So you cannot coined that word if your faith and way of belief doesnt even resemble how the first christian acted as a christian. In 1st and 2nd Century, they all agreed and believed that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. They believed in the magesterium and the authority of the bishops, bishop in Rome in particular. And here you are trying to convince us to abandon the faith of the old and joined your cause? What is a christian to you? Is that only by believing in Jesus Christ you automatically a christian? Demons and the Devil himself, believe and even tremble in the name of Jesus but they aren't christian.
You abandon the Church because you cannot follow the church precepts and then decided to follow your ownself. Thinking that just believing Jesus and reading a book that you yourself don't even know the origin. And not just read but interpret on yourself by your own interpretation, you became a christian. How shallow is that reasoning. If you really wanted to be christian, then learn from the first christians themselves. How they behaved and how they believed. You will find that e christian really is not as easy as 1 to 3. Especially if you will find how very Catholic they were. So if you cannot accept that, then how dare you calling yourself a christian. You will never be a christian. You will always be a protestant, an agent of satan who has one mission, to divide the Church of God. If you were a catholic before, then you must be one out of the millions of successes satan made out of his ministry. Imagine, just by reading the bible you called WORD OF GOD, it created 40,000 denominations that don't agree by themselves. How absurd is that. A book written by men who supposed to be inspired by ONE Holy Spirit but if read and interpreted by merely ordinary and fallible individual it resulted to 40,000 denominations. What makes you the real christian among 40,000 claimnants? If you said, you read the bible, they do too. So are you sure that your denominations interprets the correct interpretation? All the 40,000 denomonations uses the same bible but cannot even agree in a simple theology. So what makes your 'christian' denomination better than them? Or say, what makes you sure that you are in the correct denomination?
You know what. Protestantism in not a new thing. In fact this is just a shadow what happened in heaven. Many Angels protested against God and His Angels and His plans. Only that they were called fallen angels and you were fallen christians.
Those rebelious angels doesnt want to obey and submit themselves to God. God wanted them to obey and even subject to men. That they will serve humanity for eternity. That's totally unacceptable to angels who were created with freewill and created above to serve humans that were created from dust below. That arogance and pride made them protested. And that exactly what you are doing now. That 's totally unacceptable for you to obey Jesus in His Church. It just that, you cannot fit your own pride and arrogance in the Catholic Church.
