From Lutheran minister in-training to Catholic Cloistered Nun

- Sister John Marie grew up in a Lutheran home and always felt a call to live closely united with God. Learning from a young age, that Lutherans don't have nuns, she decided to become a Lutheran minister and went to college to make that dream come true. It wasn't long before she realized that wasn't her call, and God showed her through many twists and turns where he wanted her to be. Now, she has found true joy and peace in being a Poor Clare Sister in a cloistered convent in St Cloud, MN.
The convent she joined is called The Poor Clares of the Primitive Observance. Learn more about joining these Poor Clare Sisters at their website poorclares.stcdio.org or find a religious community in your area at religiouslife.com/vocation-se...

Thanks for asking! We just released a video today that answers that very question. It's in the Vocations playlist on our channel. You can also find it here: ruclips.net/video/Y6AD8D8eDkQ/видео.html
One of the highest vocations for women is to pray for the world. God bless.
Yes Amen Hallelujah praise the dear lord Jesus christ ❤🎉🙏✝🕊🛐
Except me
Hooray!
Amen to that!
First for the Church, then for the world.
I was raised in a secular Jewish home, and felt drawn to Christ as long as I could remember. It was in Assisi that I finally knew in my heart that I was called to be Catholic. I signed up for RCIA immediately and was baptized at Easter 2001. I have never doubted or regreted my decision for a moment. I was touched by this lovely profession of faith.
God bless! I must say, I notice that so many Jewish Americans are secular, although they maintain virtually every popular tradition associated with the major Jewish holidays. This surely exists among other religious groups, but for an ethnoreligious group I find it so striking. I was told that this is also the case for many Israeli Jews
Called to be a Catholic or a Christian?
@@abditus5842 Called to be Christian - called by Jesus; and also called to be Catholic (but always called to be Christian first)
Welcome home.
@@abditus5842Catholics are Christians. What else could we be!? The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus. We are His Body. He is the Head. God bless this sweet young nun.
Am also discerning with the Carmelite Sisters.
May God bless you in your discernment and give you clarity and peace.
God bless 🙏
Just continue praying 🙏🏻
Vocations for women were discouraged in my diocese because of the LCWR religious and the political situation. I feel many good women were turned away because the Church is fighting with itself. The opportunities were missed.
My favorite part of the interview was when she said that even though people don't want or ask for prayers, "too bad" we're praying for you!
Yes, some people don't seem to want prayers but we will still do it because it's out of love for them
She expresses herself with an eloquent simplicity. I received so many blessings from this video. God bless her and our Church.
Me too. Her sweet voice and expression is so contagious. May our dear Lord bless, guide and protect her always.🙏
Praying for you sister.
There is no mention of a Catholic, Roman Catholic “church” in scripture.
@@suzannemcmaken4648 Hi, friend! What church do you attend?
@@suzannemcmaken4648 Of course it is mentioned in Acts 9:31 (in the original greek bible): "Ai men oun *EKKLESIA KATHOLES* tēs ioudaias kai Galilaias kai Samareias eichon eirēnēn oikodomoumenai kai poreuomenai tō phobō tou kuriou kai tē paraklēsei tou agiou pneumatos eplēthunonto".
Kindness and joy just radiate from her. God's grace and blessings to you.
Sr John Marie is such a beautiful soul. Her prayers and those of her community are so necessary and touch us all. I pray that God will bless her, support her vocation, and bring her joy and peace.
I can relate to this in so many ways. My father was Lutheran and my mother was Episcopalian. After visiting several churches seeking (something I couldn't define back then), I eventually found myself drawn to the beauty of the Catholic Church. I was called to become a Secular Franciscan and a Pastoral Counselor/Spiritual Director. God definitely has a plan for each of us. We just need to be open to His voice within us. Prayer is the conduit that will draw us into a deeper relationship with God. If we ask for His guidance, grace will pour through...the way will be revealed. Pax et Bonum, Sister!

If you love Jesus, keep his commandments. That includes the 4th commandment to keep the 7th day Sabbth holy.
@@earlysda They have Holy Mass every Sunday and often some if not all the other days of the week.
That's how I ended up going to several different churches.@@earlysda
She smiles from her soul.
When i was in teens, after college, jobless,& helpless, somebody told me u write ur problem & hand over to a Sister behind a small courtain window of cloister sisters convent in Bengaluru.India,
I got call letter in a week time.from a Company.
I went with some fruits& a Thanking Letter.thats how i came to know them & understood their life of Prayer & complete dedication in service to humanity in Silence & solitory ,simple living.
May God enrich them to attain greater spiritual life with Gud health. We need u Dear Sisters,❤love & Prayers
Thank you Sister.
I am touched by your words.
My father was raised in Muslim family.
My Mother was raised in Protestant family.
My dad then baptized as a Catholic man, and after marriage my mom became a Catholic .
We live in a Muslim majority country.
God Bless You!!
What a beautiful woman. A beautiful soul. Consecrated women always radiate such beauty. Like little versions of Mary.
Why am I sobbing?! "God will give you all the graces that you need in order to follow Him." She speaks our Lord's wisdom. Praise God and thank you, Sister.
I was on a path to Lutheran ministry as well and I also turned away. The mission and mechanisms of the church as a body did not align with the voice of the Divine in my heart. I pray God will continue to direct my ministry. Blessings and thank you, sincerely. ❤
If there are Canadians watching this video and interested - there is a Poor Clare monastery that is newly established in St. Paul Alberta. They are the praying for vocations and they are wonderful!!!
She is at the Heart of the Catholic Church distributing healthy blood to ours. Thank you and pray for us.
"So I wanted to be poor." So beautiful. Thank you so much for following this call from God. I'm hopefully entering religious life, and I don't seem called to cloistered life, but for a while I was terrified I was called to cloistered life. I know that would be so hard, despite the absolute joy you'll have. Bless you so much!
The joy on her face when she told of her reception into the Church on Divine Mercy Sunday on the year of Divine Mercy was simply precious!
What an inspiring story. What a sweet and beautiful young woman, with a beautiful and sweet heart and soul. To have such contentment and peace of soul on this side of eternity is such a wonderful gift. My granddaughter recently entered the Carmelite cloister and she also speaks the same way of the peace and simplicity of the life. God bless you Sister and please pray for me and my family.
What a beautiful n inspiring vocation story. So humble and clear in her intention to do God's will. God bess you always.

God’s will is to go to all nations and spread the gospel.
Not locked up from the world.
@@suzannemcmaken4648Be careful about saying what God wants in a particular situation. You might be wrong.
@@suzannemcmaken4648 That is probably your calling. Let the Holy Spirit lead you, dear Suzan. Peace
@@suzannemcmaken4648You've missed the point Suzanne. Sister is spreading the gospel as do all cloistered nuns and monks.
“The middle of God’s Will.” Such a beautiful and true statement. Thank you for sharing your story. I am a cradle Catholic, 75 years of age, and am so uplifted by your witness! God’s Grace carries us and brings us through as your life is a powerful witness to. May God continue to bless you and all the dear sisters who pray for all of us!❤️
What a beautiful conversion & vocation story! Would that all young people could experience such purpose & joy! Ave Maria! 🌹
No. It all depends upon our 'individual' callings. So mine has already been done by God...
@@lufhopespeacefully2037 The Gospel of Matthew chapter 28, verse 19: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" Father, Son, Holy Spirit = 3 = Tri = Trinity. Capitalized TRINITY refers to the 3 Persons in One GOD; not capitalized it is "a group of three closely related persons or things". Lufhopes, does this help?
@@sergechankamtak7272 Not sure what you mean by this. Not all are called to the religious life. However, all are called to a life of Purpose & Joy. May all young and old (and middle-aged!) experience a life of purpose, joy, peace, fulfillment... Does this explain what I meant?
Rev. Sr so happy to hear your heart touching experience. Requesting your prayers for my vocation. Let me ask one question? Rev. Sr what inspired you to choose this particular religious order more than any other and now how could inspire others to JESUS? 🙏
(2 Peter 1:2-3) " Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue " Amen
Greetings from India dear sister. I am a cradle catholic. A family man very much in the church . One never can fathom the depths of God's Love. You are so blessed.
PRAY FOR MORE VOCATION BY GOD'S CALLING.
Welcome home sister. You are Blessed 😊
She is very humble. She has a great soul.
Sister thank you so much for your prayers and sacrifice. I try explaining what religious life must be like to non-catholics. Your intentions are so pure and beautiful particularly in this world which has becoming increasingly selfish. I ask for prayers for my mom Lillian Picano who suffers from terrible arthritis and is wheelchair bound. Thank you and God bless you . 🙏♥️🌹
God Bless Sister John Marie, I'm a Capuchin Franciscan Third Order church street Dublin the official office to St Padre Pio, absolutely powerful story she has given to us,
God Bless her 😇 🙏😇
You are a beautiful Soul, and Im deeply grateful for your vocation, Sister!
She is a perfect example of how we must become as little children in order to enter the kingdom of Heaven. God has truly blessed you. Please pray for me.
She gave up many of her worldly rights for the sake of God... Whoever gives much in this world will be rewarded with much in God’s world.
God is worth it and much more, and the only right amount to give to God is simply "everything". Praise God for her decisions
“I love the life I’m living, I’m very happy here”. Praise The Lord Jesus Christ and may Sister Marie be an inspiration to all those around her as well as all watching this vid,
I will pray for your vocation
God bless you.
God bless this girl.
Thank you Sister for your prayers.
Thank you dear lord Jesus christ and thank you dear sister for loving our most loving Lord God ❤🎉🙏✝🕊🛐
I’m very proud to be a Catholic Christian
29) MY SOUL HATH BEEN REDEEMED from the gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity. I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God. My soul was racked with eternal torment; but I am snatched, and my soul is pained no more.

It is a most wondrous thing to find and do the will of the Lord. Never lose faith Sister. God bless you.
Sister I praise you for serving God by becoming nun n you are close to God
She’s not close to God anymore than you and I are. God loves us all and we draw closer to Him by accepting His saving grace. Stop lying to yourself and others. She’s deceived as are all Roman Catholics. Read your Bible, not the catholic one.
Thank you !!! Most beautiful testimony!!!!!
Beautiful! Thank you, God. 🙏
God bless what a sweet child of God of a novice she is.✝️✝️✝️
I am Indian catholic. The catholic church is very strong in india. Thankyou for your beautiful testimony
India will be transformed when they come to know His Sacred Heart. Pray for conversion of souls.
She seems so at peace and happy. ❤
These are the holy women are the prayer warriors of the world! Thank you for answering God’s call! We need more young women like you! Jesus, I trust in You!
Matthew 5:3

I laughed when you said you prayed for us whether we wanted it or not! I pray every day for all the contemplatives and contemplative orders in the world.
Whether you want it or not! +
Praise be to God! Pray for us as we will be praying for you and for all Priests, Deacon, and religious 🙏🏼.

I love Her, what a beautiful soul. God bless you Sister and keep praying for all of us, as I'll keep praying along side you.
Thank you for your ministry of God. I am also of the Catholic faith, and I live in Wisconsin. My stepmother converted from Lutheran to Catholic once she was married to my father. Although one can look at the religions as similar, I know that they have different beliefs. I believe God did call you to this vocation and I will send prayers your direction. God bless you.
Our cloistered and contemplative nuns are the unseen spiritual powerhouses of the Catholic Church. Who knows how many graces have been procured for Holy Mother Church and the wider world by their prayers and sacrifices. At this time we need them more than ever and we should do all we can to support them. Would that every city and state were blessed with a cloister or monastery.
May Our Lady, St Francis, St Clare and St Colette pray for us. May the Lord bless these good and faithful women for the lives dedicated to Him and His Church.
Beautiful testimony.
God bless you sister
