Going round and round with the bank would be so frustrating 😠 There are things you can research and prepare for...but living through it still brings things you don't expect. We are glad that overall the transition has gone well for you 💕
So many unexpected hurdles for you guys! They really don't make moving easy to begin with, but emigration is next level. I'm glad despite all of these challenges you guys are building your dream life in New Zealand! You're right, coffee was essential for that explanation (I even had mine following along 🤣)
That's exactly how I felt when we got an unexpected opportunity to move to Ireland. We only get one life so we should make the most of every adventure that comes our way and if it doesn't work out well hey at least you tried it. I'm sure you are going to love all the opportunities that will come your way. I'm heading back to Hilton in May to see my mother but can't say I'm really looking forward to going back.
Exactly how we see it!! Hope your family has a generator in Hilton, so many electricity over and above loadshedding, as I’m sure you know 😅 but I’m sure you’ll still enjoy it, it’s such a beautiful area 😊
It's so nice to hear your emigration story! We hope to emigrate to Malta next year, but luckily don't have to close any accounts. We'll always have to pay US taxes so there's no point for us to let our accounts go. Btw, you make a beautiful cup of coffee Chantal.

Been wondering how you guys are coping with all that rain in Whangarei ? Aucklanders are quick to rubbish our weather down here in Invercargill. I can tell you we have had brilliant weather this summer. Every time I visit Auckland it is always raining. Please come and visit the bottom of the South Island soon. South Africa is like Northland and Auckland at present. Heaps of rain and flooding. Hardly summer weather.
Love your videos guys! We have been through this twice as we initially moved from SA to the UK in 2008 and then to Australia in 2018. Can totally relate to the challenges you've had! If you're in Oz one day you should visit Port Stephens and come say hi!

Oh my goodness, yes, closing accounts was a nightmare! There are also silly things e.g. I bought tinned food yesterday and when I wanted to use it today, I realized I don't have a can opener! :-D something else that took me by surprize (but shouldn't have) is that nearly every single one of my colleagues comes from asia/pacific islands! Hardly a single Kiwi to be seen :-D

I remember struggling for MONTHS trying to receive a One-Time-Pin (OTP) from ABSA so I could use my account from here in Canada! I have since closed it, as I really don't think having an account in South Africa benefits me at all! Keep posting guys, I love watching your videos!

Just wondering but did you guys look at buying Bitcoin with your SA money and cashing out your wallet into your NZ account? Always wondered if that could save lots of money in forex fees, etc. and I’m no expert but that thought came to mind.

Great vlog guys. In relation to the negative "comments", as mentioned previously, we left SA in 1986 and have never looked back, in fact one of the best things I think we have ever done (and that was with two children), but and there always has to be a but, Craig nailed it with the comment "Emigration is not for everyone". That said, life is what you make of it, and one of the reasons I enjoy your vlogs, is that you both are positive, appear to enjoy a challenge, and make something out of it. No, we haven’t felt any earthquakes, only read about it on social media…hope it wasn’t too hectic 😬
