When I saw you guys saying goodbye at O.R. Tambo, I had tears rolling down my face as I remembered the day I left SA on 1 April 2013 at that very same airport. All those memories came back, so I can imagine how you felt. But it's all for the best, believe me! Much as I miss SA to the point that I cry at times, I must say this is the best decision I ever made! Your life will improve because you will have a job and it will be a sucess, but SA will always be in your heart. All the best! Greetings from 🇵🇹
Im originally from Richardsbay, immigrated to NZ in 2008. its been the best thing ive ever done. So glad for you guys to have made the move. Welcome to a fresh start and 1st world country.

Enjoyed the video. Reminded as so much of when we emigrated from SA to Australia many years ago. Wishing you both everything of the best in New Zealand.
Great video! Little bit of trivia - that red boat you could see from your window - "Steinlager 2" - that's the yacht that Peter Blake won the 1989-90 Whitbread Round-the-World race in - winning every leg! Have a great life in NZ!
Love the vids. Almost all my fam from North Coast has moved to Canada, US, UK, Holland, Australia and one to Cypress. Mom left in 1970 to the US. Sorry to say but ZAR is never going to recover. You’re doing the right move! 😊😊😊
@@BeingBedingfield Haha. Maybe!. Regardless - it’s a good move. Best thing is to get your RSAvings out of SA as quickly as possible. Looking forward to NZ vids.
Wow! What a trip down memory lane! Got emotional watching this as I've been to NZ three times before COVID and everything you showed, from the declaration form at the airport to the South African padstal brought back so many great memories with family! Wishing you all the best that side!
Thank you! Your video brings back beautiful memories of our journey to and our time of living there. I actually had to stop the tears. All of the best with your new discoveries in that beautiful country. Looking forward to many more videos.

great video guys and full of information. Tell me something, why didn't you take a flight that stops in Sydney, why didn't you take Qantas since it's a little quicker and cheaper than Singapore Airlines, did you guys have specific reasons? I am very curious about your response. Thank you
Hi Naison, Singapore Air was the cheapest flights BY FAR for the dates we were looking at. Flight prices seem to fluctuate daily though, so it depends on the day that you actually make the booking.
@@BeingBedingfield thank you for your response. I got my nz visa and I bought a direct flight ticket to Wellington, only to find out that Qantas will stop in Sydney Australia and now I need a Transit visa to Nz. That is why I asked I thought it was the same case with you.
@@naisonmagonyo8509 Eek, as far as I know, there aren't any direct flights between SA and NZ, there will always be a stop over somewhere along the line. Transit visas are the worst...we needed one a few years ago when we went to Prague through Heathrow, now we always check the requirements before we book tickets hehe
@@BeingBedingfieldI made a mistake. I shld have checked and Qantas didn't tell me that I will need an additional visa. So now I just have to forfeit the ticket and get Emirates that will take me to Dubai, Auckland then Wellington for 35hrs. And I will start the journey tomorrow even. Thank you for your information madam.
Can you not take a direct flight given both countries are in the Southern Hemisphere? I find it weird you had to go to the Northern Hemisphere then back South? Surely at the very least, there's a flight to Melbourne or Sydney where you could connect and save time?
Hi Henry…we always book the cheapest flights 😅 there is a direct flight from Joburg to Sydney, but at the time, the Singapore flight was significantly cheaper…by far the lowest we could find after searching all available options.

Welcome to Aotearoa!!
Your SA accent is not so obvious personally you guys sound kiwi already welcome to Whangarei you will love it here
great video guys and full of information.
@@naisonmagonyo8509 oh no 😭 sorry about that! Hope you have a safe travel day though 🙏

Thank U so much I really appreciate it so much.
What all paper work is needed for airports? Not sure Where/how do you declare
Oh by the way South Island is the most beautiful lol! Top of the South Island, Able Tasman is heaven :)
Hi there, did you need an arrival card when your layover was in Singapore? Was it free of charge or did you have to pay for it?
Hi, we didn’t need anything upon arrival, but always good to double check with the airline 😊
