Economy is already a step above other European carriers, but in Business they address you by name and kneel down beside you to take your food orders as they serve you a drink whilst waiting for pushback to depart. With this in mind they know exactly who is in a premium cabin, and if you have status in premium economy you also get addressed by name as I witnessed recently. Small touches like this really helps to cement and reinforce CX is a wonderful airline with wonderful and talented people 🙏

I currently work in Aviation Security in Adelaide and I made the comment to one of the flight crew from Emerates that you would have to have a very unique pickup line to even get a second glance from Air Crew as they have heard just about every pickup line known to man. But if a man won’t step in when the person he loves is being attacked physically, what situation will cause him to intervene? The guy on the flight was not being verbally abusive, he was being physically abusive. Huge difference. And credit to Sam’s girlfriend for the way she handled it.

Sam I'm a retired US airline pilot. It's crazy how bad some pax are these days. I'm sorry that happened to her, but she was a true professional. Well done her! Like most of us we have all seen some outrageous actions by pax. Remember it's a small percentage, but as you mentioned, trying to open doors can be VERY dangerous. Safe travels to her and you Sam!

Sam, I have been an avgeek enthusiast and veteran flyer for the past 53 years and one of the reasons why I choose to fly less and quite selectively is because of the kind of people who fly nowadays to most common destinations. The atmosphere and conduct of passengers today is just terrible, and the sense of arrogance and entitlement from people is what drags down the entire purpose, professionalism, and standard of the airline industry. We - the passengers - must take a very good look at ourselves in this aspect. The same golden credo of proper conduct and respect towards each other applies here : ‘Do as you would be DONE BY.’ And that applies most especially to those who serve us inflight 35,000 feet up in the air.

If there was a free seat there is no reason he shouldn't be allowed it.
That guy should pay the cost burden caused to Cathay from the unnecessary delay.
