Abyss scarabs from Ultimatum announcement connect several dots here: Ahkeli the Clayshaper was a survivor of Abyssals' destruction of Primevals, and she founded the Order of the Djinn to help Maraketh fight them off.
They also pretty much state that Viridi is Solaris' and Lunaris' third sister.

Hey, just finished blitzing through your entire Lore playlist while playing the new League. It's a really good series!
I think there's an explanation for what happened with the order of the proto-Vaal and the Lightless that fits in with the rest of your evidence and the way you ordered the rings. Putembo mentions that the King didn't return from his pilgrimage to the peak of the mountain, and then that 'storms' took their toll on the village, killing some villagers who were later raised up from the dead. Akheli's Mountain mentions that there were 'clouds of ash above'. I think that during the King's pilgramage the mountain erupted as a volcano.
Being on top of a volcanic eruption would have killed the King as well as causing terrible damage to the village from the massive storms that would have been created - but just as importantly, releasing clouds of ash into the sky would have blocked out the sun. It seems like the Lightless took advantage of this to attack the surface, leading to massive battles between the proto-Vaal who were lead by Aul and the Lightless - battles which the Lightless eventually won, which is why some of their buildings are on top of the proto-Vaal.
Instead of fighting, some of the proto-Vaal looked at the devastation around them and the oncoming hordes of Lightless and fled to the mountains. Most importantly, by getting through the clouds of ash the sun would have shown down on them and prevent the Lightless from following them - which is why there's safety in the clouds. At some point the clouds of ash subsided, the Lightless fled back under the surface, and the survivors of the proto-Vaal came back down the mountains and became the Vaal proper.

The logical progression to the idea the lightless arose from the Proto-Vaal. That was incredibly well executed progression of thought.
I suppose if we thrown in the idea of Gods, the Proto Vaal gods and the Vaal gods might be the same origin.
Solaris was an eternal god who shut down the Lightless but the Eternals came after the vaal/proto vaal.
Proto -> Lightless/Darkness uprising -> Formation of various civilizations from the splintered proto-vaal -> More Gods emerge in these times of hardship as these splintered groups become "distinct" with the Vaal forming first -> Eternals form, and Solaris forces the Darkness into the Earth/Oriath Civilzation forms(Innocence as also a light force counter to the Lightless) - > Sin grows the beast and lulls the gods to sleep - > some dude takes advantage of the beast and causes a cataclysm every so often that doesn't manage to kill everyone but does fracture various groups over time -> Now.
Only have one issue with it.
Sin does not not belong after the lightless.
What happened to the proto - vaal seems to be distinctly a corruption cataclysm that gives rise to the Lightless. The same event that changed the closer Vaal into the Fallen, and the eternals into the monsters we see now in sarn/mountain. These just seem to be variants of the Lightless.
Unless, there was something else that caused the first corruption cataclysm.
The azurite commanded by Aul keeps the darkness away as does the voltaxic sulphite. The darkness clearly wanted Aul dead, and Niko changes completely after you kill Aul the first time into frenzied mess.
There is something below everything else in the earth. It pulsates corruption outwards into wraeclast and the maps. And it bleeds darkness. That's why it calls Niko to dig, it wants to break free?
And Aul literally staked his life and kingdom into the ground to keep it down there with azurite.
And we let it become more free killing Aul. See POE2; undead boogaloo.

There's just a couple issues with this!
Solaris and Lunaris are actually Azmeri gods. Since the Eternals were founded by an Azmeri, they adopted some of their gods. So Solaris existed long before the Eternals. Sin also existed long before the Eternals, as the gods were put to sleep by the time of the Fall of the Vaal, which preceded the founding of the Eternal Empire.
While some gods (like Arakaali or Tukohama) have clear origin stories showing they went from a person (in a specific civilization) to a god, we don't really know if Solaris preceded the Azmeri. We don't have an origin story that shows Solaris ascending to godhood. So Solaris could pre-date the Azmeri as well.
How I see it is the Lightless roamed a dark world with the darkness -> Solaris exists and drives the Lightless into the ground -> civilizations like the Proto-Vaal pop up -> the Lightless escape from the ground to take over -> something happens where now Proto-Vaal and Lightless are buried -> Vaal civilization -> Sin creates the Beast/puts the gods to sleep -> Vaal start using virtue gems (which exist because of the Beast) etc etc.
If Aul led his people against the Lightless, and is the Last King, maybe he drove the Lightless down and was keeping them at bay. Maybe he had been trying to stop their rise back to the surface.

@@KittenCatNoodle I think you're comment gave me alittle clarity.
"The narrow path turned to rough rocks that led towards the sky." From the First King, Uzazu.
Voltaxic Sulphite. The Voltaxic Sulphite causes people to hear secrets from the Earth. Every time they say sky or Heaven, they mean deep in the Earth.
      The Earth is their Heaven.
"But the First King knew the river's secret, and the fish were not the only ones who grew fat."
Uzazu listened to the Source of The Darkness or whatever it's containing for it's secrets and in exchange for "It" saving the proto vaal from winter, Uzazu and the proto vaal would dig down to free it.
This tradition carried on to Putembo, whose slaves also constantly quarried and dug into the earth in exchange for "It" revealing information on how to thrive.
Putembo was going to the mountain on pilgrimage to honor "it", but was assassinated by a Slave who was sick of digging, Aul.
The pilgrimage was never completed, and the slave revolt led to the proto vaal to *stop digging*.
"The gifts of the land lay hidden deeper,
and only patience and persistence would free them."
The "Gifts" is "It". the source of darkness or what it contains.
"It", deep from the earth, gets angry with the proto vaal and unleashes a cataclysm/The Lightless on the proto vaal as punishment and blocks out the sun with a volcanic eruption of darkness.
"It" wrecks havoc on the proto vaal for going against it's will.
This is where the Clayshaper, Ahkeli partially comes in. She was a "Unique" Lithomancer/Stone shaping member of the proto vaal. All of the primordial jewels reference fearing the earth in addition to this. She is said to have fled into the ash from the cataclysm. When she sought safety in the clouds of ash above, she was trying to return "It"/Darkness. She was in tune with the earth, it's likely she returned to escape the earth's fury. This is with the idea, with the proto vaal, "ascending to heaven" is descending into the earth.
That or she, like Atziri, moved on into the maps and founded an empire in the primordial blocks map area. That is possibly supported by the mist in the primordial blocks not being mist, but ash.
I think it's fair to believe Aul possibly fought the Lightless for awhile, but Aul was a good king apparently. He would not want his people to die to the undead/cataclysm.
Hence he retreats into the earth to escape the Lightless. As with primordial blocks map and the ruins, the proto vaal had a way of lighting up the earth "green" instead of by sulphite or Azurite.
The Lightless were intended as punishment on the living, so the lightless followed the proto vaal into the earth to hunt for them partially.
While underground, the proto vaal discovered azurite, and infused themselves with it, as well as warding the darkness with it.
As the Lightless descended on the proto vaal, Solaris arose apparently in that time, and caught the Lightless in a Pincer attack by removing the eternal night, forcing them under ground.
This idea is supported by "For aeons, in the deepest, blackest reaches, they have festered and multiplied. Now, they're clawing their way back to the surface in unprecedented numbers" from the abyss league description.
The lightless number's grew because they eventually won against the proto vaal over time and added the dead to their army.
"My thoughts turn to the burrows and chambers beneath the earth of Sarn. Could there be some new undead civilisation growing and preparing itself underground at this very moment? Such thoughts do not make for easy sleeping." - Maramoa act 8.
When you kill Aul, "it" giving secrets to Niko goes crazy with excitement causing niko to become psychotically crazy. "It" finally achieved it's goal to kill Aul for defying "it". And we played right into it's hands.
I had the idea "It" might be Lunaris but that didn't seem to fit well. Instead I thought it fit the idea of a third God that represents the Earth. Tangmazu fit's the position of lighting nearly theme wise.
This idea also gives rise to the consideration....Sin is definitely connected to "It"/Darkness.
It spreads corrupting ash? It partially caused a cataclysm that gave rise to volumes of undead? Sin is quite literally given visions and secrets, and visually both appear extremely similar in cards, glass work, and murals?
Sin is chaos, and flies. The earth is physical and is "on the ground". Chaos is derived from physical, as is the other elements. The beast is embedded into the darkness of the earth, and the undead around the beast wield sulphite weaponry.
I would like to add one more thing I realized, not really related.
Ahuatotli, the Blind, is blind because one, he is literally blind, but two, he follows the voice's commands, and performed sacrifices to it, similar to the proto vaal before Aul.
This entity may have influenced the end of the Vaal because they were trying to ascend past the gods.
This entity may have influenced the end of the eternals because they were going to put an end to mining gems.
Idk where I'm going with this, but it makes sense the more I think about it.
      More than my Chayula theory.
I think you might be more on track than me.

@@truesoundwave I cannot express how much I love this. I think there's a lot we don't know and can't know -- did Aul kill Putembo, or was Putembo killed by other circumstances? How much did the proto-vaal know of the lightless? Did Aul fight them to his end? Is he still fighting them? Why does killing Aul change Niko?
All I can say is I freaking love that you're digging into it--heh--and these kind of discussions bring me joy. Lots to think about with your thorough and wonderful comments.

@@KittenCatNoodle I really like all of your videos, KCN. I have one question to spark discussion: why are the Proto-Vaal _called_ the Proto-Vaal? It could be because they come before, but that doesn't tell us much. I find it more likely that the Proto-Vaal are seen by those who named them to be a civilization in the same vein as the Vaal, which could point to a Cataclysm.
Do you think it's possible that the Proto-Vaal destroyed their civilization by creating the Lightless? Ahkeli (the Clayshaper) is quoted as seeking refuge in the Ashen sky, which seems to evoke images of volcanoes. It's quite possible that the Proto-Vaal created the Lightless to be servants--perhaps the purpose of the 'last pilgrimage'?--and the Lightless took over, or escaped Proto-Vaal control.
I think some serious attention needs to be centered around who named the Proto-Vaal such. It's a big clue.

@@KittenCatNoodle @Siada Something Hey, just to throw something out there for the thing in the center of it all, the 'It' you're referring to could possibly be Viridi perhaps? We know Viridi is trapped withing an 'orb' from the flavour text of the Prismatic Eclipse. I don't know a huge amount on the lore (yet) so I couldn't piece together how that would fit just yet, but I was thinking about the lightless's possible connection to the arrival of Solaris, maybe Viridi's story could fit there as well with her being trapped within the Earth. I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on this!

I love that you used the mystery box trailer music. I especially like that when you start talking about auls uprising against the lightless, the frontier mystery box music starts going. It feels like I'm part of that uprising, like I need to keep vigilant in the battle against the lightless. It's such a good adventure song.
If that wasn't deliberate, it was still great. Maybe good music just goes along with things, and then the audience interprets it. If you put something more mysterious, it might have just made me more inclined to feel a different way. Kind of like how that pink floyd album matches up with wizard of oz, and people read more into it than they need to.
Anyway, great work. Looking forward to the pale council.

Kamil's music is amazing and finding pieces that fit the mood that I'm trying to evoke is one of my favorite parts of doing these videos now. I'm glad you liked that touch, it was definitely meant to make you feel like there is an impending doom being suppressed by an ongoing battle that we may need to join and rise against, and I'm so glad you noticed and felt that!!

There is also a comment by Sin that confirms this order of events. He says something to the effect of ancient civilizations before the Vaal who wanted the power of the Beast for themselves, indicating that the Gods were before everything else. If it is said explicitly that the Lightless were before the Gods, then that confirms that the Primevals were after the Lightless.
