  • "American audiences will be shrieking the whole time, here, it's like, silence."
    Impressing British audience during stand-up is much more difficult than in the United States, says comedian Chris Fleming

    I love Chris. Saw him on his first night in London Soho and by the end of it I almost couldn't breathe from laughing. 10/10

    Is everyone in this comment section 60+ years old? I'm bemused by the amount of people unironically using words like 'wokie' and 'wet'... who are you people?? Oh well I guess humour is a pretty generational thing, I think Chris is hilarious.

      @@kouranko Sorry for generalising, I know there are people of all ages who are open-minded and have a good sense of humour! I guess I was just a bit confused by the intense negativity when I commented, and some of the strange/dated slang made me assume the commenters were from an older generation. But I know for sure there are older people out there who can handle a bit of gender-bending and surrealism... I mean today's 60-somethings lived through the 1970s after all!

    I went to see Chris in London 2018!!! He had bought taxidermy from my husband and had been a Gayle fan since the beginning! I took two gay friends - one a banker, the other an antique dealer - they chuckled and said “Great show” but then I had the best night of my life! I remember it still! Amazing time - 2018 was just a really good year! I wish Chris stardom and all the best, what an ORIGINAL COMEDIAN!

    Chris has such a unique approach to his sense of humor. I've been a big fan for years now..of course I started with Gayle but he has so much great material. Glad to see things are paying off.

    I went to a comedians convention and they were allowed one joke each. First came on and said 32 !! And everyone laughed!
    I was bemused! and asked the guy laughing next to me what was funny. He said all the jokes are numbered and to save time the just shout out the joke number and they know which joke it is.
    Next comedian said 22!! And no one laughed!! I said why didn't they laugh? He shook his head and said... It's the way he tells them!! 👀

    His observational comedy hits too close to home 😅. “Polyamorous” is one of my favorites and can basically be applied to what dating is like everywhere now.

    “Who are your people? Who comes to see you”
    Neurodivergent people. I’m middle aged, a woman, unfortunately straight. 😅. I think the same people who appreciate Maria Bamford would like Chris.
    And I will engage in the comment saying something about woke comedy. What is “woke” comedy? Any comedy that is not told by a guy who hates his current/ex wife 😅. He should just take a Time Machine back to the 90s. Comedy has evolved like it always has evolved and I love it. I like weird humor that doesn’t punch down and includes more interesting points of views. I finally feel included and it’s awesome. Some of us can handle others laughing. We don’t all get off on everyone else being miserable.

    Why is Chik-Fil-A name & logo listed as sponsor immediately under the video & above the title of this video
    “Eat mor chikn” mentality?
    Possibly or maybe YT AI heard “nuggets” at 2:02
    & thought homophobic fast food chain should get top billing above the Times Radio icon
    I had to click on “more” before getting to see Chris Fleming’s name whilst in vertical view📲 iOS RUclips app
    Maybe I should only watch YT on sundays so that I can avoid getting triggered by Chik-fail-Ads 🐄💨

    • @swiftlymurmurs
      @swiftlymurmurs 6 месяцев назад +7

      Bill Burr has a very approachable and recognisable style of classic comedy. And he's really good at it! Chris just is a bit more off the wall, his humor often relies on absurdism and hyperspecific references at high speed. He doesn't often have recognisable "jokes" because the funny thing is in the whole atmosphere and character he builds. It's a different kind of stand-up and people might not respond to it as quickly

  • @4TheRecord
    @4TheRecord Год назад +4

    He isn't funny, probably because he's too woke. Nothing to do with him being American. Bill Burr is funny. George Carlin was funny, Eddie Murphy, etc, etc. They're all Americans and funny, unlike this guy who's just American.

      I suspect you’re right. If wokies like it, good for them, it’s not my cup of tea, far too wet and bland.

    • @kouranko
      @kouranko 6 месяцев назад +9

      Have either of you actually listened to him or watched his comedy? There's nothing bland about him at all! He's got a brilliant mind, he's good at physical comedy, musical comedy and hysterical stories and monologues. Then there's his movies, series and the rest. I don't think you know what you're talking about, and have rather a bland attitude. Sorry if I'm mistaken and you have watched him, and it's just not your cup of Boba, I would be surprised though if anyone thought him bland.

      You could be excused for finding some wokeness in Chris' style. But fundamentally his comedy is about making fun of his own awkwardness specially in relation to men. Either that strikes you as funny or it doesn't, it's personal taste.

  • @StillAliveAndKicking_
    @StillAliveAndKicking_ Год назад +3

    I‘ve just watched some of his stand up via RUclips, and it made no sense to me. It certainly wasn’t funny. It used some terms that didn’t mean anything to me such as polyamorous. It came across as completely wet, about as threatening and edgy as a soggy dish towel. Maybe this is the young generation‘s humour.

      @@themaggattack Having never heard of BCC I went and watched a few bits on RUclips. Are those red necks? I struggled to understand the English never mind the humour. That’s not my cup of tea thanks. They are as bizarre as Chris Fleming. I’m not really familiar with modern American comedians, but Bob Newhart back in the day was very witty. I used to watch him when I lived in Canada 30 years ago.
