He was a frequent guest on the Punch Up the Jam podcast. The poor host had trouble staying on topic because of him derailing the conversations ha!
He’s the Van Gogh of painting mental pictures and I would give so much for a podcast hosted by Chris Fleming
@@IguessImightwe a Iloilo
I've listened to Chris on a few podcasts (Punch Up the Jam, You Made it Weird) and it's clear Chris is the best guest you could ever have.
Chris somehow has the energy of both the gayest dad and the straightest mom simultaneously, how, why, more
LOL so true
i see this and raise you he is a gay mom (married) gay aunt (lives with non-blood related aunty patricia/liz/lisa) gay aunt (married) gay aunt (single) gay uncle (single) and straight mom (barely married, it’s practically divorce)
Mrs. Doubtfire energy!
"These guys are one tiramisu away from creating the first male pregnancy" I need to throw something
this is me at a house party at 4am, out of my mind, giving the run down of the complexities of the deeply intense and tragic relationship between kirk and spock throughout the star trek franchise to some poor, poor, heterosexual man who's uber has been waiting for him for 20 minutes.
Are you me?
I assume you've seen Jesse Gender's video about how Spock/Kirk slashfiction saved Star Trek? As well as her five hour documentary on sex in TNG INCLUDING definitive proof that Klingons have two dicks?
I feel like I need to tell you if you don't already know but in one of the recent Star Trek shows there's a moment where someone is reading Spock's memoirs and the book is titled "The Many And the One" and we glimpse the dedication page and it says, simply, "For Jim," and that just fucking drives me feral. Like, clutching my face and sobbing madness. Just. The intimacy and tenderness just out there!!! For the world to see!!!! Because Spock loved this man so much!!!!
UGH. I am in love with Kirk/Spock. So incredibly intimate and just full of emotion. Absolutely gay.
AS YOU SHOULD
I've never seen Heat but I did see a post that said "Robert Di Nero in heat" and my life flashed before my eyes thinking that I was witnessing an iceberg float by in the night except the iceberg was a community of folks invested in writing rpf a/b/o fanfic about popular male actors from the late 20th century just to find out that they were talking about a movie instead. Now after watching this video, maybe the phrase "Robert Di Nero in Heat" is a both a statement of fact and a description of that statement.
This was also my immediate thought. The exact phrase was, i believe, 'al pachino in heat and im not joking' which. Suffice it to say that lives in my head rent free
Tumblr culture has also tainted me because a/b/o was my first thought as well
The tumblr brain rot community and Chris Fleming fandom venn diagram is a circle, and I fully mean that as a compliment
god i'm so glad i'm not the only one that went straight to a/b/o
Both Robert De Niro and Al Pacino were in heat in Heat.
obsessed with how this is the same spot in the middle of a wheat field as the other video but with a different outfit. either there were costume changes on the same day or this is just the Fleming Spot now

I love that movie and this is an amazing take on it lol
You should absolutely see Heat.
Watching this video before watching Heat (1995): This is incomprehensible. No way is this movie this unhinged.
Watching this video after watching Heat (1995): This film is somehow even more unhinged than this video makes it out to be. The dynamic chemistry between De Niro and Pacino's characters will haunt me for years to come. I am a changed being.
I never want to watch movies by myself (I dunno why, I enjoy movies fine when it's with a friend), but this comment may be what gets me to watch Heat specifically.
@@A_T216 hey friend, me also and idk why. We can virtually watch together :)

This is now the only acceptable follow up to the inevitable “Top Gun is a gay love story” discussion that you run into with film people.
Heat is a much better gay love story tho
or the "fight club is a gay romcom" discussion
@@frankm.6816 fight club is explicitly gay in concept. the implicit part is how gay I am for brad pitt as an individual
No no no no no. Top Gun is an asexual masterpiece.

"One tiramasu away from creating the first male pregnsncy." Classic Chris. They always have such specific descriptions of literally anything
When I heard the phrase "Pacinal and Deniral glands are expanding like bullfrogs," I nearly regurgitated my lunch (in the most simmering, homoerotic way possible, of course).
So good. I had no choice but to throw my head back and cackle. I couldn't control it.
"Pacinal and Deniral glands" was the winning line for me too. Someone please canonize this phrase!
"Closeted Classics" needs to be a recurring feature on this channel
I second this.
As a puppet enthusiast, I appreciated the distinction of *Brian* Henson

“A thief, but like, a *virgo* thief” is probably the gayest sentence I’ve ever heard, and I love to read mlm erotica in my spare time. And i, myself, am gay. Truly impressive.
idk what's funnier, the fact chris exclusively referring to the characters as 'de niro' and 'pacino' or chris finding every opportunity to include their names in some kind of portmanteau lol
I must know: is the cat in your profile picture delivering the warning of your username, is it itself the danger that is forewarned, or is the cat completely unrelated to your username?
@@A_T216 ok first of all i love this question lol! secondly, unfortunately the username predates the cat by some years alas... thirdly, my cat is the biggest softy you'll ever meet so the only danger you'd have when meeting her is danger of being purred to death lol
@@dangerliesbeforeyou nothing unfortunate about receiving an answer! The picture and name are both fun regardless of if they're related. And what a lovely cat!!! I wish you many more years together.
"I got Fiona Apple tickets" omg I'm dying. Fiona was the only unhinged, art-pop piano girlie that Chris hadn't brought up yet and I've been waiting for it.
adding the line "darling, fetch the bolt cutters" to one of the heist scenes would not change the plot and would barely make it any gayer
if "al pacino and robert de niro in heat" isn't the perfect title for a terribly upsetting yet engaging fanfiction on ao3 about robert de niro and al pacino in the movie heat but they have dog ears and a very misconstrued alpha/omega dynamic and are constantly fucking graphically then i don't know what is
You are a tortured genius in the way that your words torture me to read

"I wanna rob a bank so I can cook DeNiro's GOOSE!"
Chris fleming going on an unedited rant about the inherent homoeroticism of the movie “heat” is not what what I wanted, but exactly what needed today
"pachineal and deniral glands" completely vaporized me
As someone who hated the ending to Heat, this honestly makes me love the ending to Heat
Really? Easily one of the best parts of the film imo. Mann actually conceived the ending first and worked backwards to get there iirc.
Alternate title: Chris explaining his OTP
Pacinal and Dineral glands are now a permanent fixture in my vocabulary.
Hey Chris, Michael Mann here, yes the real Michael Mann. You totally nailed it with this interpretation, and I just want to say I have a lot of respect for you now. Just wondering if you'd like to share a dessert in a diner or a gunfight on an airport tarmac sometime. Have your people call my people✌
Never have I seen such gay enthusiasm for a 90s film since a young Katya Zomolodchikova was endlessly raving about the movie Contact to an irritated and exhausted Trixie Mattel. More movie synopses, Chris!

I have to beg off that experience, honestly. I'm sure my life has been poorer for it but I have never once met a human like this
i just wish one day to have the innate ability to use words the way chris does. describing things using somehow perfectly accurate yet wildly unrelated descriptions. "a thief, but like a virgo thief" like how od u fucking do this but like with every damn sentence

So you're telling me this movie is just a criminal x detective fanfic set in the 90s?

The incredible, relentless energy, creativity and humor that literally bursts forth in every video you make is just the most wonderful thing. "Pacinal intercourse" is possibly the greatest phrase I have ever heard.
"He's like an aunt at a wedding."

I like when you're watching a chris fleming video and you finally understand one of the niche comedy references he makes in one of their other bits. it's like there are a few separate bits of media rattling around their head at all times that he just uses for analogy until they can fully articulate why exactly it's captured his attention so
Yesss. In this case I think it's the bit in Showpig where he describes his friend and his cat pacino and deniro-ing one another
ive watched this 4 times in 24 hours…. to me it is a perfect piece of comedy
I’ve returned
‘Moby playing a synth patch with broccoli florets’ 🤣
Back again
There hasn't been nearly enough appreciation for the "completely unhinged, like an aunt at a wedding" comparison.
Are you telling me that recording artist Moby's "God moving over the face of the waters" is the soundtrack to what I can only assume is the saddest "bury your gays" scene??
the fanfic 'ground rules' on ao3 of these two is p good yall
now i want chris's perspective on every film i've ever watched
In my undergrad studies I was forced to listen to a playlist of avant-garde music that was over 20 hours long and the best thing that’s come out of it was understanding that Einstein On the Beach joke

God I love how often Chris mentions the Haim Sisters
Watching this as a palate cleanse after The Update scrambled my reality
i'm currently obsessed with this video. chris really gets this movie, pacino and de niro are horny for each other the entire time. also if you want to read a sapphic story with similar vibes where there is a happy ending, read they never learn by layne fargo
As a big lover of great gay American films, and passionate discussion of them, this video is thrilling to me.
I like the implication that the wheatfield brush his recent videos have been filmed in is his new home “Don’t come into my house with that. Don’t come into the brush telling me that.”
Chris Fleming Heritage Site
"Going on a haunted hay ride, chased by the HAIM sisters."
Watch out, they're probably gonna use that for their next music video. That's so hilarious, God damn it.
This is so freaking great, I've never seen Heat but now I have
Everything I've always felt about Heat but could never articulate. Absolute genius, as always.
i watch this video every week for nourishment
as an oberlin grad, every single one of those descriptions is 100% accurate. I feel particularly seen by the magical realism oof i used to write and that was my shit
If I could go back six minutes and forty-two seconds to the time before I had this awakening, I'd have preemptive awe at how astoundingly accurate, and yet wildly avant garde this description is when compared with that on the back of the VHS box.
I love heat. It's my favorite movie. This is my favorite interpretation of it
Brian Henson definitely has his own puppeting style.
This video proves to me that Chris Fleming knows about the omegaverse and has at least a decent knowledge on it to imply things.
Unbelievably unhinged. Chris Fleming lives in a universe I could only hope to inhabit
"Don't come into MY house -- don't come into-- the brush"
I heard in Heat 2 they finally kiss
As someone who LOVES heat, and Chris this was delightful
"The bouffant of a former nun".
Ahahahahaha!!!!
I've watched this video in full like 6 or 7 times now and I can't stop thank you Chris
robert deniro shares my birthday which is in 5 days so happy early birthday to robert deniro, portrayer of one of our greatest gay icons
"bouncing around like a fraggle" made my nose run, JESUS
if I had a nickel for every offhand muppet joke Chris mad about Al Pacino in this film I would have TWO nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
The overloud music effect made me die.
At the cauliflower arpeggiator and waving bouffant part I just started to feel like maybe you didn’t see it, or maybe it isn’t a movie at all it sounds a little too good to be true and I don’t think you’re a liar 😵💫
The fact this video doesn’t have more views is criminal (like a Virgo thief). Heat is my bf’s favorite movie and this video changed our lives
This is a work of genius.
2 weeks ago I didn't even know this movie existed and somehow you upload this video within a week of me being forced to watch it and containing basically the only impression watching it left me with. Truly a titan of the queer film canon, De Niro and Pacino should be nominated for a GLAAD award
watching this immediately after watching heat for the first time is the best way to fully experience that movie
Okay but I’ve actually seen the last like thirty minutes of this movie and was very confused by the vibe but this explains it PERFECTLY
To be fair they literally hold hands at the end so I can definitely see the homoerotic angle
We really are so glad you exist, Chris. Thank you for inhabiting every inch of your weirdness. It's inspiring
I'm going to need an entire series of Chris explaining movie plots to me
I love a 90’s gay rom-com
not sure how Chris is gonna top this one. this is peak
So THAT's why my dad went to go see it 3 times IN A ROW in the cinemas when I was a baby
I never saw this movie and I’m a bit sad it got spoiled for me. But I couldn’t stop watching Chris recap of the movie. It’s just incredible. I’m laughing so hard. And now I really wanna see this movie.
Also Chris talks about main character chemistry in this movie the same way i talk about my queer non-canon OTPs. The passion is so real.
i watched this movie for the first time last night. this video completely UNDERSOLD the tension. i won't stop thinking about it for at least 7 weeks
I need someone to be this detailed about my life so I can write the lesbianonic hit single that will launch my career far beyond Heat’s… Please someone let me gain Chris’s spirit for linguistics for just a month or so so I can get my name across a pretty backstage boudoir 😔
This is AMAZING, and I will be sending this to the next man who calls Heat an action movie. It's not, it's a romantic drama.
The Felicity reference! And broccoli florets! 😂😂 everything this man says and describes is pure comedic gold!
Having recently watched this masterpiece recently this is the correct reading of this film

The realisation that Out of Sight is basically a heteronormative Heat is blowing my mind

I recall this film as the thing that broke Pacino. There's a Before Heat and After Heat
Heat was Pacino's Con Air.
@@tjenadonn6158 yes!
@@rgs8970 Finally someone who understands: I've been saying this for years. Con Air is easily the point where Nicholas Cage the actor died and became Nic Cage the man of rage, much as I love both of those Nicholases Cage. Likewise Heat is where the Pacino of The Panic in Needle Park and The Godfather died and became whatever the hell he is today.
@@tjenadonn6158 truly. the Nicholas we knew is dead and gone. Now he's this other entity with the same name. I was likewise shocked to watch older Pacino performances, where he's, you know, just acting, not Being Pacino [edited for typo]
Not sure what you mean, but I'm assuming you haven't seen The Insider, Insomnia and Donnie Brasco to name a few. None of those performances are anything like what he did in Heat and some of his best work. I've heard good things about more recent work like Manglehorn and Dannie Collins too, although I haven't seen them.
If anything, Heat changed De Niro more as it was one of the last performances he gave a shit in until the Irishman (which I thought was one his best, underrated).
"One tiramisu away from creating the first male pregnancy " 😂
I'm pretty sure every single video of Chris' that I've watched makes me laugh. Has a moment that's so funny that I just pause the video and take it in lol
As the lesbian owner of a wheezing elder dog this offends me.
Ooorrr…. Or. Hear me out. Heat 2: Pacino slips into a deep depression because there is no one left to chase. He digs up, then Buries De Niro in the Pet Cemetery. He goes back home to his wife with the horrible bangs and waits. Then the curly book bore girl is awaken by a crusty De Niro searching for his loot. Bam! Pacino is there in a flash. He scoops up De Niro and they go to this exact field that Chris is in and make eachother daisy chains and giggle over how weird Orbits are to drink cuz it’s kind of like backwash. El Fin.
I love your mind ❤
