Albert Collins was a gentleman and a professional. He was warm and kind. His showmanship and the way he directly communicated with his audience was inspirational. Leo Fender must have been impressed with his use of the telecaster. He had a great sense of humor. We need more of his kind. He is missed. I'm an atheist, but God Bless Albert Collins.
Yeah baby! That's some great Blues. Albert Collins was fabulous in concert and he was always a very nice person, as others have said. Barrelhouse was a rocking bluesy band for the late 70's. I'll have to admit, I had never heard of them until this video with Albert. They reminded me of the old Austin Blues scene from the late seventies into the nineties. Albert frequented Antone's Night Club in Austin during that time. He would crank up his Fender Quad Reverb and plug in his 300 foot guitar cable and walk around the hall and then out the front door. He was torching Austin back then. One night Stevie Ray snuck in a side door and got up on stage with him. They proceeded to apply the atomic sledgehammers of guitar magic that night until well after closing time. Those were indeed the days.
Ooooohh. Yeah thats smokin... Thanks to that band Barrelhouse on behalf of all Texas blues fans for inviting a Texas boy to do his thang back then. Thats my man throwing down...
go to 5:50 to see when Albert comes on the stage. Reminds me of the many times I used to see him play here in Ottawa, Canada at the Rainbow Bistro ... set the place on fore for sure!!
Angela Strehli is, I believe, the woman singing at the beginning of this concert. She REALLY knows how to belt out the blues, too, doesn’t she? What an incredible voice!
Singer is Tineke Schoemaker, leadsinger in Dutch bluesband Barrelhouse. Lots more to find about here and Barrelhouse on RUclips. Barrelhouse still exists since 1974 and is awarded with 2 Edisons.
Albert also much loved by various band members over the years apparently? Out of all the blues greats, I find I'm drawn to his unique blend of blues, funk, brass band, and rock, and style of playing guitar like it was his organ that got stolen.
YA!! I've been waiting for some more of this Holland stuff to come out- the album with Barrelhouse has some of Albert's killin'-est playing on it! And the Barrelhouse band is tight- too bad, the volume here is so low...imagine if Albert had his amp cranked like usual...?!
The legendary Ice Man in Holland. Great band. I also love those old blues guys with there specific blues style of guitar playing. You can hear immediately who is playing. Nowadays it's bluesrock only. Not very refreshing. The opposite. Pity.

Johnny Laporte. The band Barrelhouse (formend in 1974) still exsists and still plays in the same setting. About Johnny LaPorte there's a lot to find on RUclips and internet..
Sure europeans can never get it . But these are students. Tony Vos on saxophone did bring Cuby & Blizzards. Eelco Gelling , Harry Muskee. Top students of blues..
Yes, they will read because for the horns they were guesting for this television program. Albert Collins was specially invited. The band still play. They are known for their laid back loose tight grooves.
Mr. Collins not only played the guitar like no one else, he told a story with that axe!
Albert Collins is still the Master of the Telecaster.
I love his music so much.
and 4ever will be...
The world needs more concerts than we have.
Racism hates music because racism knows that music defeats and kills it.
Albert Collins..indeed undisputedly the master of telecaster. Just wow.

It looks like p90 pickups. It also looks like a young Jim Schulte drumming. Frommilwaukee
Albert loved using a capo. No need to wander all over the neck, just sit right there and ride the pocket.
I just found this again...Collins tuned his guitar to an open F-minor chord (FCFAbCF), with a capo at the 5th, 6th or 7th fret.
