Early 80's, strolling around one cold evening in Ottawa, saw this doodle jumping up and down just outside a bar playing a wireless Stratocaster. Grooviest sound coming from inside. We walked in. Meet Albert Collins! Those moments are what make life worth it.
I’m a Albert Collins fan from early 90’s when my uncle let me listen to his Showdown Album w/Albert , Johnny Copeland and Robert Cray. Wow what a album. Here on Utube not many people know of him. So I been pushing his great wait. GREAT name around. Dec 6, 2023
What a fucking LEGEND!! He always put together the most kick-ass bands, and every musician gives him everything they’ve got. Just sounds so so damn gooooddd
I'm thinking of making a music station that pays homage to all the Blues greats from the beginning to present. Anyone want to back me? We'd be hearing Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan and so much more 100%.
He was a bad man! Whenever my blues playing seems to be feeling stale I spend a day listening to the Iceman and phrasing automatically gets better and my playing gets more interesting.
I can't stop watching this, it's so damn good! I watch this one and the (giorno) version almost every day. I love that he gives his bass player a long solo, then the trumpet player (who is amazing), and finally his rhythm player gets a solo too which is face melting. This is what music is/was all about!
It's absolutely great. But you watch this every day? As well as the other performance of this song at daytime too? Don't get me wrong, if I could only watch one thing every day, this would be right up there, but come on man, variety is the spice of life and everything.
@@paulgordon6949 As interstellar these full on artists are, I agree . . . variety IS the spice of life . Having said that, ya gotta say that this IS fantastic though :-)
Albert Collins has an intensity - and then a subtlety, those quick pull offs, then crazy vibrato on an Tele that screams- I don't know how you sound like that..I've been playing/listening for over 20 years..it's just part of his body and soul. Regular strat sounds "normal". He knew what he was doing with that stinging bright tone.
That’s because he was using a Telecaster. Gear makes a difference for sure. Different beast. Plus he was probably self-taught and had his own technique.
Another great live version of the ironically named "Same Old Thing" which apparently is so NOT the same old thing but instead yet another unique flavor of the blues. Inspiring!
Your loves that, but noting love me,i haven band muzik to parenship albertus And "the ahmad basahil"kom. unikatip so parners ,thank you,,, ,,,,, ,,,, @@$?@@$
HARDEST WORKING MAN ...........PLAYING THE BLUES ............SO VERY COOOOOOL ! albert , u will make us forever smile ......THANK U ...........RERST EASY , BIG MAN .....
I am going to look up all of ALBERT COLLINS music I just love his music I wish that he was still alive today getting ready 3 down load all his stuff R I P Mr ALBERT COLLINS
In my opinion he was the best guitar man even better than Eric Clapton. I wish i could just get in to a time machine just to see him playing alive.........
Albert the whole band is all that he bass player was kicking up some serious dust though love Albert though what he brings to the blues his voice playing cant be matched
I always read the comments from the folks who are veclept by what they've "discovered"...."stumbled" upon. This is just another show band from the '80's........the folks who chime in, in their '60's? who lived it, felt it, have the ticket stubs.......this was THE Show Band to see. Albert went beyond guitar player. He went beyond the old blues........He went beyond, "fans matter". Albert truly presented each and every audience a SHOW. His band helped make that happen. Show Band. Go check out BIG Something for more of the same devotion to fans..... In the meantime, go find Frosty LIVE!
yepp one of my all-time heroes, without a doubt! Bought a telecaster because of him, but of course it doesn't have a humbucker in neck position...whatever..it's in the fingers for sure...
That bass, man, picks up the tempo mad dog.
Most dont know how monumental this is really!

Saw him in a small club, in the early '80's. Not twenty people there. One of the three best shows I've ever experienced! Force of nature!
What a fucking LEGEND!! He always put together the most kick-ass bands, and every musician gives him everything they’ve got. Just sounds so so damn gooooddd
and whats great is he gave everyone in the band credit and air time to play.
Right! It's like they all wanted to kill it for him and you can hear that shit! Just awesome!
Sho do!

Yup. . . his other guitarist KILLED with that solo toward the end. . . to follow that. . . took a confident, and competent axe man. . . NICE!
He was a bad man! Whenever my blues playing seems to be feeling stale I spend a day listening to the Iceman and phrasing automatically gets better and my playing gets more interesting.
Trumpet solo is killer too!buy the band a round! Bravo!
11 Minutes of pure Brilliance!

ГЕНИЙ БЛЮЗА!!!
John Gayden was my favorite bass player back in the 90’s. Incredible player.
Absolutely, the guy is killer. Not being a huge slap fan I dig him.
What a difference having a class bass player. Only the best for Collins, and the brass popping in and out too. Beautiful sound, holy moly.

If Eric Clapton is the Master of the Stratocaster, then we are equally assured that Albert Collins was the Master of the Telecaster. RIP😢 Albert!
I don't think anyone said Clapton is the master of the strat.
Wow !!!! that was amazing , what a band loved it
This song "same old..." with albert collins and ice brakers ....i think it is what best we ever heard...a non clisse sound....

What a giant.
Always good
Why did US Media and Artists not discover him? Really interesting.
Amazing playing all round, but that bass solo was really great. Don't often hear something like that in a blues.
would love to have seen him and Prince on the same stage. The Godfarther and the Prince of the Telecaster.
Impresionante.....
Albert looks like one of those gentlemen you would smoke with and have a cold beer with after a long work week.
