If I have the good fortune to make it to heaven I am going to look up Mr Albert Collins and shake your hand sir and say thank you to you for the genuine genius and joy you brought and continue to bring to this mortal world which is poorer for your passing. I trust you will not just be resting but continuing to rock the house like no one else could!
I saw Albert in like 1978 in a tiny packed club of 70-80 people. He was amazing. He had the 100' cable and went outside the club wailing on the guitar!
What a guy! Total class act. Heard he once went out into the street playing guitar and ordered a pizza which was later delivered to the stage 😅 RIP Albert, a true showman.
Such a humble man,my favorite bluesman by far, such fun, such talent, incredible music, thank you Mr.Collins, never forgotten by those touched by you and your amazing music
Damn I miss Albert. This clip: Beautiful. Wonderful. Classy. Classic. Cool. Soulful. Funky. Brilliant. Amazing. Original. Crowd pleasing. Did I miss something?
He quit music at one point, because he had to earn a living for his family and he wasn't making it yet, trough music, his wife was the one that made him pick it up again because he was just depressed. Maybe that's why he was so apreciative of everything.
@ 13:19 I saw Albert many times in the 80's and early 90's, I always thought the way he would kick his leg out at the end of a tune was badass and cool as f'"*k! Albert was "Cool" personified, dude.
ALBERT ...........JUST ........OUTSTANDING !!!!!! ..........WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER ......ALBERT ....THANK U FOR THE SMILES AND FEEL GOODS U GAVE US >>>>>
i saw him the very night that he played with george thorogood at live aid in richmond,va..in 1985....shout out to to rob noll who was 2nd guitar..it may be the best show i have ever seen...albert went out to the median strip on broad st while he was playing!
Albert and his band were obviously very talented but for him to go out in the crowd and shake so many hands while playing one-handed ...and to sit down in an empty seat and play some killer guitar...wow! Quite impressive and too funny! That audience was clearly thrilled.
I was in Antones the night he walked out on the street and I think ordered a Pizza from the place behind the club. Also the great Rubys BBq there as well.A great time in my life.Austin was a different place.
Open F tunning, marshal amp, no effects, everything on 10 including amps reverb. To make it even more weird, Capo on 12th fret ahaha. That is why he sounded like cutting trough ice. The amp settings is the main thing, the neighbours love it too :D
o verdeiro rei do blues e do jazz, nao tem outro cantor e quitarrista que chegue ao profissional del albert collins, muleque de agora so fas barulho que nao presta. este e blues e jazz mesmo na raza.
I sling the guitar around my shoulders just like the great Albert Collins did. I injured my left shoulder in a motorcycle accident & was unable to play for 3 years until Albert Collins inspired me that that things can operate on a totally different level. Rest Easy Mr. Collins, thank you for the noise.
It's actually smart, playing guitar can really take a toll on your body and even injure you, some musicians have to quit guitar because of it, it's no joke. Sitting with a classical guitar several hours a day can do that for you, imagine standing up with a electrical guitar, which is way more heavy, with a strap around your neck, not good. I bet Albert experienced some neck and back pain before adapting to this, even so, this won't be good for that right arm/shoulder.
Can someone telle me who's on Albret's left, guitarist with sunglassses that looks and play like Jimmy Vaughan ? ANYWAY INCREDIBLE MUSIC MOMENT ! I'd even say EPIC !! Not anybody can plays 2 note while shaking public's hands for like 3' !!!
Now THIS is how you rock the house!!! What a class act!!!
This is a MASTERCLASS in showmanship!!! RIP Albert Collins.
Albert was a fantastic guy. I met him twice. He loved people and loved being loved by people. Johnny Winter was like that too. Great Guys😌😌😌

What a sweetheart, I've never seen anyone sit down or shake hands with the audience before. A very appreciative artist 💝

New Years Eve 1987 Albert Collins played at Nightstage in Cambridge, MA. Best New Years ever!

No other could come close to his tone. Albert was loud, but AWESOME!!!!!!!
Open F tunning, marshal amp, no effects, everything on 10 including amps reverb. To make it even more weird, Capo on 12th fret ahaha. That is why he sounded like cutting trough ice. The amp settings is the main thing, the neighbours love it too :D
No offense, but Albert played only fender amps. Silverface Quad Reverbs with 12" JBL's.

Jimmy Vaughan is still going strong too. We seen him play last year in St. Charles Illinois at the arcada theatre.
Why all the great keyboardists look like librarians? Except Rick Wakeman.
