I saw him in Lubbock TX in the 80's. He had an extra long amp cord, he walked out of the club and played on the sidewalk then through the crowd. No more like him.
I. lived down the block from Seattle's G Note tavern. Walked down to check out Albert Collins one night and asked a lady sitting up front if I might join her. Next night,my friend John Pearce was in town....I had just bought a 66 Mustang and was letting him drive it. We pulled up to a ted light at the G Note when Albert was playing on the street with his extra long cord. Pearce (r.i.p.) was impressed!

Sir Albert Collins is an old school blues legend! Unbelievable!! Atmospheric!! Fantastic!! He breathes music! The blues gods are smiling with inspiration, enjoying his performance - long live the blues!
Albert Collins near the end of his life, having a great time, and playing to a captive audience. At 4:05 Jerry Peterson plays one of the best blues sax solos you will ever hear.

They played until the cows came home. We never truly appreciated how truly wonderful those times really were. Magical in many ways.
Been going down the Albert Collins rabbit hole again today. I love how Albert would "sing" the guitar notes as he played them in the opening solo. It was like he became one with the guitar and the guitar was playing him as much as he was playing the guitar.

With that high capo and all that vibrato and no pick - this guys musta have had the strongest fingers ever - unique tone. Love everything I ever heard from this dude.
Kool- Aid The craziest part to me isn’t just the capo; it’s the fact that his guitar is tuned to an open F minor chord. I’ve played for years and have been playing around with slide/open tunings/lap steel since I was a teenager but I’ve never played (nor met anyone else that plays) in Fm. He’s usually got the capo in the 5/6/7 frets so I’m assuming the Fm open tuning gave him the exact feel he wanted. He’s just such a beast of a player.
It all starts with the fingers no ? If you can do it - tell me where you're playing and I'm jumping on a plane! I've heard plenty doing good impressions of BB and Albert King but I ain't ever heard anyone get close to AC's unique sound.
Such great music the younger generation just doesn’t realize what they missed. When I was a teenager I would just sit back and close my eyes and let the music seep into my very soul. I have listened to blues my whole life. When I was just a girl I would turn on my transistor radio on and hide under my covers and listen to a radio station I believe was in Georgia and they played nothing but blues. Never cared for any other music since.

That telecaster tone cuts through like a knife. Saw him backing up the Allman Bros at Pine Knob years ago. He came off the stage and was walking up and down the aisles playing to the crowd.
I saw the Ice Man in Santa Fe, it was either 1991 or 1992, It was in a small club and it was one of the best shows that I was lucky enough to see. You are truly missed Mr.Collins.
Nothing I can say can appropriately tell how beyond great was Mr. Collins in his interpretations and playing of the blues. He was born with it and it simply percolated deeply up and down his body through to his toes.
Awesome post!! My late, great boyfriend Floyd Phillips (keyboardist/dear friend of Johnny Clyde Copeland) went on the road w/the great Albert Collins at age 16!! 💓 💗 💖 💘 THE ICE MAN!!!!!
Now there's some real talent right there!! Amazing musician. This kind of musical genius doesn't much at all today. The music of today is all about the money, and that kills the music and that's one of the reasons why music is what it is today. "Nobody leaves without playin' the blues"
Everyone copies the latest hit or covers a Dylan song...there is no thing new or creative that makes its way to mainstream. I keep digging into these great old original songs. I love the blues that make my eye twitch ..if you know what Im sayin.
Don't lose too much hope. I'm 22 and despise the shit that is on the radio or that has been produced in my lifetime. I listen to, and play only blues. As soon as I turned 21 I started playing open mic nights at a blues bar in town and have been for about a year, meeting other musicians and doing jam sessions with them. Texas is still great for young people and good music. Lots of blues down south.
Albert was always my favorite. The tone, the dynamics, the very language he speaks on his guitar, hits me the right way. On top of that, he always seemed like a regular guy.
Albert Collins the blue's legend in his day..Thank you God for guitars..Every performance Albert did was sensational..He could entertain you by whipping out all those cords while jamming on that guitar and make you feel every sound of that strat..Band is terrific..Albert felt everthing in strumming on that guitar and everything came out good.
What a performance not long before he died. One of the most important people in music history imo. As Muddy Waters once said : "Blues had a baby and it was called Rock and Roll"
Dear led to the light by Albert Collins & his Band Class, what a joy this tune is to hear and sing along to, egad. What a wondrous work it is, praising up the peoples, in hymnals & praise, singing for hours and hours a day. This song cheers us all up, peoples, try singing along it will bring you right up to the heaven-state, with Albert teaching us lesson(s) about old crazy money, lol. The saxophone solo in this tune is "top form" out, with bewildering, blinding harmony, melody, B-bopping, jazz, blues riffs....wow. This Saxophone player was giving it all he had, in "top form", Class, as good as it can possibly get, the Angel man a 10th Degree - Whitebelt in/re 10 Commandment Way always, regardless of all always in this Music video performance. It's miraculous the heights you can reach in music & regarding things as a GRADUATE, man, yikes lol. These are the "throw money at em every time" deal Band that deliver the goods, the truth, & outstanding music every time. Albert Collins has so many riffs, lol, his versed in styles style he shows a bit here, is a vocal phenomena & a style that George Benson also does sometimes, singing the notes you play on your instrument simultaneously, it makes you feel good, harmonizing & resolving out. For related Music check out the theme song to the TV series "The Jeffersons", wow it has positive energy peoples, have courage to sing, try it and find another happy plane in the Universe, a state of mind, and realities yay!

Met him in France backstage during his 70's / 80's tours.GREAT GUY.RIP Albert (from the bottom of my heart)
Blues is something mysterieus..
I mean i'm only 29 years of age and i grew up with Robbie Williams and more of that popstuff all fine and Nice but man when i first discovered the blues my musical preference changed into old music and i started listening to led Zeppelin , the Stones , the Beatles, Brian Adams and Many more.. later i listened alot to newwave and synthpop but i finaly came back to the blues that's something different it goes into your soul and it transforms something in you that i can't explain i don't know if i feel happy or sad but it's an exclusive art form for Shure!
That telecaster tone cuts through like a knife. Saw him backing up the Allman Bros at Pine Knob years ago. He came off the stage and was walking up and down the aisles playing to the crowd.
'The Master of the Telecaster", the "Ice man" just a tortured sounding soul on the guitar. Great!
I saw the Ice Man in Santa Fe, it was either 1991 or 1992, It was in a small club and it was one of the best shows that I was lucky enough to see. You are truly missed Mr.Collins.
ive seen this a million times yet everytime i see it in recommended videos i just have to watch it again. a true tele legend , rip albert
In saw Albert Collins in Vancouver Washington at THE Hay Loft , a local venue. He just blew us away. That was in the very early 70's. He was amazing.
Amazing artist and an excellent performance! He barely broke a sweat!! Still listening in 2024
That sax solo was so damned good I'm gonna play it again!
Is that an alto sax? I thought it was harsh.
I think the tenor sax plays a warmer tone. I'll be going down the googl rabbit hole in a minute...
A true original. Two notes and you know it's AC.
Ain't nobody can play the blues like a black man!!! R.I.P. Mr. Collins!!!🎼🎸
Awesome performance!!! Rest in Peace A.C.🙏
💓 💗 💖 💘 THE ICE MAN!!!!!
one of the rare class that can make a guitar talk & cry!!!1
Now there's some real talent right there!! Amazing musician. This kind of musical genius doesn't much at all today. The music of today is all about the money, and that kills the music and that's one of the reasons why music is what it is today.
"Nobody leaves without playin' the blues"
Everyone copies the latest hit or covers a Dylan song...there is no thing new or creative that makes its way to mainstream. I keep digging into these great old original songs. I love the blues that make my eye twitch ..if you know what Im sayin.
most of todays mainstream are illuminati mk-ultra and very well managed.
+Chris Aviles good for you. Open jams playing with others. Great lesson. I'm still learning
Albert was always my favorite. The tone, the dynamics, the very language he speaks on his guitar, hits me the right way.
On top of that, he always seemed like a regular guy.
God Bless and keep the Master of the Telecaster always !!! Another Blues Stringer gone home...♥️
I saw him at the "Joint" on the west bank in Minneapolis in the late 70's. Albert king played a couple nights later. God I miss the 70's!!!
These guys are the Mozart's of the blues world!!! Pukka stuff!!!
That killer guitar tone, the hazy glimpse and the drunken-pervert-smile. this guy was all charisma and talent at best
pervert or player a fine line i suppose
@@sinclairmarcus 😂😂😂
And that sometimes look of "I know somethin' you don't."
The Blues gods are smiling here --- long live the Blues Amen
this brought tears to my eyes its so fuckin good. no words can express what this made me feel. What ever it is i needed it thank you ..........
Yah me too it's so f'en assume.
Just got me like that too.
Never has a performance given me 8 minutes of goosebumps, until now.. 😍❤️
Man that is one SMOOTH piano player, WOW what a great jam!!! Albert Collins is the MAN
What a performance not long before he died.
That is some of the best blues piano you'll ever hear as well. What a song!
Blues is just a bunch of artists making love to their instruments.
I think there's a term for that?
Yep. they call it music
Real good in times!!!
