To be fair in war innocent people also die. Often a lot of them. Covert operations are most likely to prefer over having started all the machines of war. The only question is do we want freedom (and thus can be robbed or killed by strangers) and responsibility or slavery and safety (as long as you do not step out of line)?
vincentgraymore the point is that it’s impossible to avoid tragedy and war. Only to be prepared for when that tragedy happens. You can’t slap a bandaid on a dead body expecting it to come back to life... but you can prepare for when those tragedies happen to make sure we have the highest probability of having the minimum amount of tragedy happening... Seriously to try to assume that we can prevent a war “thousands dying” is a better terms of preventing tragedy than allowing countless millions dying in constant carnage of war. But here is the problem most people don’t understand. Diplomacy and room to talk between the two fighting sides is way too late to attempt when one side already attacked... war is complex and won’t always be as simple as you might think. Stepping on peoples rights to prevent a tragedy is the same as arresting a kid for committing murder in the future so that kid can’t be given a life to live in public anymore just because one of the millions of possibilities that he will commit murder when he’s 35 years olds? Well that’s not fair or due process of what freedom really is...
vincentgraymore also being robbed is always a possibility regardless of being free or not. But freedom to defend yourself and your property is the right and responsibility you have when it comes to being free.
I believe in people's right to self determinate their own futures. Freedom is extremely chaotic and messy. But I would rather take it and live the my life my way than enforced "safety". People die every day that is a fact. But this doesn't mean life isn't worth living. You just cannot let fear cripple you.
That's why Captain America is my favorite superhero (A genuine sense of goodness, humility and selflessness), and why Captain Marvel is a nasty, narcissistic, self- righteous rhymes- with- witch with the potential to become a full- fledged supervillain.

'Illegal alien attacks innocent black teen, war veteran saves the day' is literally Carol Danvers attacking Miles Morales, and Captain America saving him
Carol is not an illegal alien. She was born in the US, and is a high ranking officer of the US air force, the accident that made her an alien hybrid happened way after in her life. So the correct wording would be "Retired US military attacks innocent black teen, war veteran saves the day". Another could be "NASA's former chief of security attacks innocent black teen, war veteran saves the day". And there are probably many other options. She used to have a rich background but who cares, right? Better make her a one dimensional character that makes stupid decisions. I wish they hadn't butchered her character. She used to be one of my favorites.
I don’t know why everyone hates Captain Marvel so much, he’s powerful he has Wisdom of Solomon, Strength of Hercules, Stamina of Atlas.......... Oh shit wrong franchise

@Prinsstar SsTp My bigger answer isn't much bigger, but my idea is that she has so much power that makes her overpowered that she believes that she is better than everyone and can do whatever she wants while believing it is "good" without any repercussions, even if what she is believing is factually not really good at all, like in civil war 2 where she is gonna get rid of miles before he does anything

The main atractive of the Marvel heroes, in both comics and screen, is that they're flawed but fundamentally good people. Captain America's golden age moral compass is what makes him special. "Is Captain Marvel a hero?" No. I believe the entire point of her original arcs was to convey that, even in the hands of a _woman,_ absolute power corrupts absolutely and no one individual should be expected to burden themselves with unilateral moral decisions; that is almost a textbook example of corruption through proxy because the power granted by her station almost makes her a despot. In effect, Marvel decides who lives and dies based on her suspicions of potential and it isn't until Tony Stark confronts her with the armor-piercing question about her future-police philosophy: "What happens when _you_ become a threat to freedom? When _you're_ the most dangerous murderer in a room?" It's essentially the Aesop of, "What do you say to the unstoppable force to change its mind? When all power and authority is concentrated into a single entity, what can you do to change this without being destroyed? What do you say when your ally becomes a standalone WMD with political opinions? If she had decided that Thanos was right, Infinity War and Endgame would have been much more fucked up stories than they turned out. Gods above, that has never been more relevant than today.
Yep, their are only two wielders of the cosmic power that the title Captain Marvel comes with that didn’t get corrupted by it, the original Mar-vell, and his “daughter” Phyla-vell. Danvers is the fourth wielder of this power, and is going down the same route as Mar-vell’s son, who eventually went completely insane from all the power. Out of all the wielders of this power, Phyla-vell was far and away the best of them all.

Stohl explained, "She will be one of the most popular heroes on the planet-but that's not something she is very comfortable with. And of course she's lost a lot of folks that she's loved so she has to cope with that, too. That being said, she still has a job to do as commander of the Alpha Flight. "What's more the “purchase [of] a little temporary safety” of which Franklin complains was not the ceding of power to a government Leviathan in exchange for some promise of protection from external threat; for in Franklin’s letter, the word “purchase” does not appear to have been a metaphor. The governor was accusing the Assembly of stalling on appropriating money for frontier defense by insisting on including the Penn lands in its taxes--and thus triggering his intervention. And the Penn family later offered cash to fund defense of the frontier--as long as the Assembly would acknowledge that it lacked the power to tax the family’s lands. Franklin was thus complaining of the choice facing the legislature between being able to make funds available for frontier defense and maintaining its right of self-governance--and he was criticizing the governor for suggesting it should be willing to give up the latter to ensure the former." You missed the real kicker. In an issue of Ultimates, it is conclusively, undeniably proven that Ulysses' predictions are not always accurate. Carol Danvers is there for all of it. She sees first hand that his prediction was simply wrong. Despite this, she continues on course with just as much self-righteous certainty as ever. That story line really did a lot of damage to her character.
Her moral character was on the decline ever since House of M. House of M revealed her primary desire for being a hero wasn't anything altruistic, it was to make people admire her. She was doing the Ms Marvel thing for herself not for the benefit of the weak and innocent- so the warping of reality installed her as the single greatest hero ever of the new world, admired, respected, and loved by all. Mar-Vell would be rolling in his grave if he knew of the things she's done with his name...and if he came back to life again he'd instantly know...what with his Cosmic Awareness and whatnot.
@@gtf234 I don't think you understood the Post house of M character. It wasn't that she wanted to be admired or to be famous for fame's sake. It was that she felt she hadn't lived up to her potential and thus wanted to fit into the mold of a hero that is respected and admired by all because that's how she felt she could improve. To be able to make a difference. She turned down joining the avengers because she felt she hadn't done enough good and that she felt she hadn't earned it or deserved it. Underneath the selfish seeming plastic lay an altruistic goal, written a bit more complexly/subversively. The comic also reinforces that famous heroes are the ones that are seen as more competent. There's one time she outright admits that she isn't doing this for fame or popularity, but because she's felt she's wasting her potential to do good.
No I understand Carol used to think she was wasting her potential- that was back when she was still an alcoholic that could put Tony to shame. That part was always loud and clear and one of the reasons she was liked as Ms Marvel back then- she was very flawed and troubled. After House of M was a sobering up period of her trying to confront and make up for that side of herself- but it doesn't deny that's how she was. But that universe fed into what everyone desired most, and Carol placed herself at the top of everything. It's been well established that the Pysche-Magnitron gave Carol Mar-Vell's powers because she was envious of him and the machine responds to the desires of those exposed to it- that was way back in Ms Marvel issue 19 from the 70s.
@@gtf234 She wanted powers less because she was envious of him and more because of how powerless she felt when yon rogg had captured her hence wanted to stand with Mar-vell as an equal rather than a damsel in distress (as so many powerless female love interests tended to be at the time). She was also inspired to be a hero as established by Ms. Marvel 50; She tells Mar-vell she didn't want to be a copy of him back in Ms. Marvel 1977 19 and wanted to be her own woman, but the Psyche magnitron misread what she wanted (for better or worse according to her) as all wishing wells and rabbit feet tend to do. House of M putting her at the top of everything was just part of her being wasted potential. She felt with those powers she should've been right at the top just like Mar-vell was and anything less was wasting her powers. It's the "with great power comes great responsibility" taken to the extreme. "If you don't become the greatest and take the most responsibility with great power, you have failed and nothing less than the best is good enough". Hence her name being Captain Marvel in that reality. Being admired is just a side effect of that goal. Which is why I say, it simply is a subversion of shallow seeming goal. It's why she refused to join the avengers because she didn't feel like she deserved it enough. It's why she quite homeland security because she didn't feel she was doing enough good sitting behind a desk. At the end of Ms. Marvel 50, she had realized that trying to fit in with the archetype of a super popular hero wasn't what she wanted and it wasn't'really a goal, and she aimed to simply be the best version she can be instead of trying to be at the top of the superhero game.
"The complete certainty of her righteousness, and the disregard for due process that comes with it" Sounds a lot like the segment of society that she was meant to represent in the films.

In the MCU they can do whatever they want with her as the MCU is separate from the comic universe, which scares me. I swear they better not pull a fast one on us in endgame.. As for the comics, she's a mid tier type character that was around iron man level (in some suits like bleeding edge he could beat her). Her character was never really created to be up there in power with characters like Thor, Hulk or Sentry.. hell even the original Male captain marvel before danvers was weak sauce in comparison to them and her powers are derived from him... Despite being able to make her as powerful as they want in the MCU due to it being it's own seperate thing from the comics, I pray that they dont give us a fucking marry sue that makes the rest of the avengers irrelevant or some nonsense along the lines
There's another interesting moment that takes place during this storyline. After Captain Marvel has arrested numerous people indefinitely without evidence, and getten several Avengers maimed and/or killed, she was confronted by Magneto. Apparently, she had sent a surveillance drone after him, and he returned it to her (in multiple pieces). When he asked if her pet prophet had seen him in a vision, she dodged the question, labeled him a 'person of interest,' and then said "We're broadening our scope." What follows is taken word-for-word from the comic: Magneto: "Yes, this is how it starts. Next come the detention camps." Captain Marvel: "Right, I forgot. You're that guy online who compares everything to Hitler." Now, while I won't dispute Magneto being someone worth keeping an eye on, and I won't say it's the worst thing she could have said...but it's still pretty high up there on the list of 'Terrible Things to Say to an Actual Holocaust Survivor.'

Wow best video on Captain Marvel’s motivates I’ve ever seen. Some of those out there shilling for the Captain marvel movie needs to watch this before they defend her.
I've just watched this video not long after watching Captain Marvel, and I gotta say, people need to learn how to compartmentalize the difference between the comics and the MCU, as the MCU isn't entitled to be comic accurate, and because of that, they can and will make many liberties to change characters up, and I really appreciate how much better MCU Carol Danvers is compared to what I've heard of her comic book counterpart
Thor the literal thunder God and Wanda who is the Scarlet Witch that can bend and change reality with magic, not to mention Dr. Strange who is THE sorcerer supreme. All three of them are way more poweful than her and are all more deserving of being called a hero of Captain Karen. (I saw WandaVision I know but I still have faith in Wanda)
Thor is the most powerful hero tho. In the comics when the avengers fight thanos part , Thanos made thor so old but thor said savagely ''We Gods Get So Much Powerful If We Age'', thor almost defeated thanos but thanos made him back to his normal age...
The comics are a different universe, I don’t like it either but the creators of the MCU have complete say over the canon in the MCU, if Feige she’s the most powerful in the MCU, she’s the most powerful in the MCU.

“Every time someone tries to win a war before it starts, innocent people die. Every time.”
- Steve Rogers
True that!
I believe in people's right to self determinate their own futures. Freedom is extremely chaotic and messy. But I would rather take it and live the my life my way than enforced "safety". People die every day that is a fact. But this doesn't mean life isn't worth living. You just cannot let fear cripple you.

No.
When _you're_ the most dangerous murderer in a room?"
It's essentially the Aesop of, "What do you say to the unstoppable force to change its mind?

"They who can give up essential Liberty to obtain a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
-Benjamin Franklin
Except, that is the basis of all governments. People give up some of their liberty in order to gain the protection of the state. That is form of government Benjamin Franklin and his cohorts designed.
Franklin was thus complaining of the choice facing the legislature between being able to make funds available for frontier defense and maintaining its right of self-governance--and he was criticizing the governor for suggesting it should be willing to give up the latter to ensure the former."
And if your going to quote Franklin, for fucks sake, at least get the quote right- “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”

So, Carol is self righteous disrespectful and unlikable in the comics, much like Bree Larson irl. So did Marvel actually make an accurate and solid casting choice?
Please don't judge this character because of one storyline. The Civil War storyline always has a hero character take the wrong side on a matter. In the first one it was Iron Man and in the second it was her. There's always gonna be a hated storyline or arc that sees a good character make terrible terrible terrible decisions. Its happened time and time again. I love the character Batman, but many recent writers in charge of his stories today make him do things that I hate. Now many readers will find themselves seeing a difference in the old version of Batman compared to the modern day version of Batman. Blame the writers.

@@ackminecrer9165 yeah but im pretty sure she is faking the evil.
Darius Cole-Samuels I think she killed some Avengers (lesser known, of course) but I have to double check
You missed the real kicker.
Yooo
Also I love how they tried to play her up as this strong female figure, who doesn’t need a man

After Captain Marvel has arrested numerous people indefinitely without evidence, and getten several Avengers maimed and/or killed, she was confronted by Magneto. And not to mention, I absolutely love this video and its message
@@SlowWinterNuts
The ones who made the movies used the comics for ideas to build from.
Can't they just make her a straight up villain already? She's clearly a remorseless psychopath.
If they make her a villain, a bunch of idiots on Twitter will go apeshit.
If they make her a villain that would mean she was wrong, and naturally that’s unacceptable.
@@PikachuLittle I mean, make her a villain that thinks she's a hero, she still does good, but in her way wich does more harm than good.
Sort of like Superman did
@@ianthecoolthief6226 so chaotic good?
Doing "good" at any cost?
why is she considered "the most powerful hero", Thor and Wanda are literally more powerful than her
Thor the literal thunder God and Wanda who is the Scarlet Witch that can bend and change reality with magic, not to mention Dr. Strange who is THE sorcerer supreme. All three of them are way more poweful than her and are all more deserving of being called a hero of Captain Karen.
(I saw WandaVision I know but I still have faith in Wanda)
@@camnunes8847 oh yeah forgot Dr. Strange, and yeah right all that and Captain Karen gets the spotlight

Wonder man, Sentry, and even Scorpion(Mac Gargan) can even go toe to toe, if he was actually stronger than Spider-Man.
@@LegacyComics100 we aren’t talking about Shazam lol
Thor is the most powerful hero tho.
In the comics when the avengers fight thanos part , Thanos made thor so old but thor said savagely ''We Gods Get So Much Powerful If
We Age'', thor almost defeated thanos but thanos made him back to his normal age...
Runch Randa wasn’t that the Avengers asamble cartoon? I love the show but still
But it was already said numerous times they are NOT gods. Ffs Odin himself said "we are not gods"
The comics are a different universe, I don’t like it either but the creators of the MCU have complete say over the canon in the MCU, if Feige she’s the most powerful in the MCU, she’s the most powerful in the MCU.
Why didn't Thanos turn him into a baby?
Dr strange and scarlett witch are stronger
"Everytime someone tries to stop a catastrophe before it happens innocent people die. Every. Single. Time."

Wrong, dont act smart the real quote can be found so easily in the wiki...
No one is talking about how amazing this video is.... Story from comics applied in real life with a great point.
You sir are a legend.
Abhishek Shinde proud to see another viewer who stuck around as long as me
Oh please! Why do you think people read Marvel Comics? This has been going on since the 60's! Possibly even earlier! These videos are LITERALLY 60 years behind what comic book readers already know!
Thor is the stronger Avenger, he can withstand 5 infinity stones and almost killed Thanos while Captain Marvel couldn’t even withstand the power stone and couldn’t give a scratch to Thanos😂
@ShonenAce because you butthurt fanboys would cry if CM was the one to save the day.
@@avatrice3077 yes because shes a horrible character who we dont care about. It's not about being butthurt or fanboys. Iron man is the one that started this, he should've ended it.
@@db5094 i care tho and a lot of others care about her character.
Also, thats why its not fair to call her an asshole just because she didnt use the gauntlet herself.
@ShonenAce aww, look whos the butthurt tho. Telling lies and thinking their opinion is fact. 🥺
@ShonenAce thanks but no 😊
"Hopefully we can see her becoming the hero that she should be..."
*shows clip of Captain Marvel punching old lady*
hmmm
@Nexus E-H It's still a great Juxtaposition tho.
She punch that old lady just to make sure she wasnt a skrull
The old lady was actually a Skrull, that's why.
@@univ8571 I was joking smh
@@PaintingwithEnrique She wasn't just "making sure". She saw that old lady leaving the train before entering herself, then spotted the very same lady still sitting inside. That's how she knew it was a Skrull.

I was wrong when I said Brie Larson wasn't a good pick for Carol Danvers
Hah
Why everyone hate Brie Larson ?
@PeachyBee she isn't, she upset people for saying that we need more representation and now everyone hates her. Add in that she is a successful liberal woman and everyone hates her even more.
@@starbreaker6441 no she isn’t, she just advocates for representation and fragile men like you don’t like that
@@PetalsFourArmor i dont think she's doing it right since as a girl it doesnt feel like she is
let's not forget, Miles and Cap stood at capitol hall to see if anything of the vision would happen, and it didn't
and Carol just shows up even after nothing of the vision of miles killing cap came true saying "Your under arrest miles"
and then Tony showe up in a freaking War Machine Hulkbuster
but, sadly in the end, Carol Kills tony, and then the president is like "We're giving you funding and the position as Leader of the Superheroes"
She got off scot free
How exactly is she a hero?.
I’ve always thought of her as more of an enforcer than a hero. Like an intergalactic space cop
Definitely.
Change that to Space Karen and you get Captain Marvel perfectly.
Why would space Karen fly around and enforce people in the darkest place of all? Space. Since she is a Karen after all she'd spend all day shooting at space and yelling "Stop harassing me and my children!"
@@commandercruel8231 thats what shes doing. She thinks you are a bad person because someone said so and so you are cancelled and should be put to jail.
