Honestly the fact that Carol was able to recover from something like Avengers 200 does show even the worst stories possible don't have to end up being the sole thing to define a character. Great video as always!

Hey Drake, what about Superia? She had a brief run as Ms Marvel in a later version of the Dark Avengers? Basically doing the same thing as Moonstone, but it was a separate character.
I left her out because Marvel didn't consider her a Ms. Marvel on their official breakdown on their website, but I realize in hindsight that I probably should have even though it would have only been a super quick mention.
Kamala Khan, Moonstone and Carol are both related to Kree. Kamala as genetically kree-engineered inhuman/Moonstone using a Kree moonstone and Carol half-human/half-kree hybrid.

I do remember seeing Monica Rambeau's Captain Marvel, but didn't read any of her comics. So, I was a bit surprised to see Carol Danvers in the persona for the movie.
While I do really like Ms. Marvel, I am a little embarrassed to admit I've never gotten around to reading any of her main solo series. I know her through the early Champions books. I know her through her various guest appearances in other titles and other media. I read her recent Beyond the Limit miniseries. She's my main in MUA3. However, having gotten into her current Disney + show and after watching your video here, I think I finally get it. That down to earth stuff IS the big appeal. It's less about the characters aiding the plot. It's more about the plot aiding the characters. Their relationships and their developments. Great video. My personal favorite Ms. Marvel is Sharon Ventura. I know this wasn't a video about her time outside of Ms. Marvel, but a few of her appearances, including her most recent, were thankfully back as a friend and extended family of the FF. Also, some of her villainous time could be attributed to the fact that she was one of the captives of the Skrulls for Secret Invasion.

I love Carol. I’m a huge fan since the 90’s. This woman is a warrior. Proving herself over and over as a daughter, as a writer, as a pilot, and Avenger. Not mentioning this horrible sexual assault in Avengers 200. Love the alcohol story arc - that’s so heroic. How to beat the addiction and grow stronger. Inspiring. She ALWAYS gets back up and prove people wrong. Absolutely love that she’s actually half Kree. Her mom being a Kree and her father a human makes her origins much more interesting and rich. Also opens doors for future stories. She deserves the Captain Marvel mantle more than any other that came after Marvel-Vell. But she made her own name as Ms.Marvel too. Or Warbird. Or Binary. That’s my fave hero!
Kamala Khan and Miles Morales are my two favorite modern heroes, they just seemed so lived and not just written to fill a demographic hole. I love them. While I wasn’t a fan of her powers in her new show, she was still a great character to watch.

Kamala Khan is one of my favorite Marvel characters, and I don't really like how they are making her a "magical Green Lantern" in her solo series on Disney+ and not an Inhuman like in the comics. I do respect Feige and the production crew for the change and accurately showing her personality, but I feel like it would have been much easier if they *1) gave her the original backstory with a few tweaks* (no Terrigen Bomb, maybe something more subtle), *2) slowly introduce the Inhumans in later episodes like in the comic run she first appeared in, and 3) make her adventures street-level, like Spider-Man.* Her Inhuman nature and powers literally are part of her character: The first usage of her powers was to turn into Carol Danvers since she wanted to be just like her: A kick-ass super hero she idolizes. From then on she becomes more sure of herself and becomes her own type of hero. Side note: I keep on forgetting that Kang and Marcus are a thing that are in need of desperate retconning.
Funny thing is they have an in universe way to make this happen due to agents of shield as Terogen is a thing that's around and is clearly something that could awaken Inhumans.
there is a article online about the INHUMANS in the MCU. apparently MARVEL decided since the INHUMANS series didn't get great reviews/fanfare they decided to slowly remove them from the MCU.
I was a huge fan of the Carol Danvers Ms. Marvel, Binary and Warbird but not so much as Captain Marvel. Probably because of me being a product of the 90s, my Captain Marvel was Genis-Vell. I was never a fan of Kamala Khan (or any other Inhuman for that matter) but I'm glad that so many others like and can identify with her character.
Great video as always. Just out of curiosity, are you making a ClanDestine video? I really don't like the villains in the Ms Marvel series using that name and I'm an Alan Davis fan.
You are awesome and your videos are amazing, it’s not just fluff it’s a book report and super valuable and your narrative grounds it and makes it super easy to understand, thank you!
Superia was Ms.Marvel. And Monica Rambeau and Phayla-Vell deserved a shout out for Being in the Marvel Family. But this is your video and you did a great job. Thanks for working so hard on this great content.
Kamala's Ms. Marvel series was good throughout it's run. I always looked forwarded to it each month when it came out. I also really enjoyed the 2006 Ms. Marvel run with Carol, before she became Captain Marvel. Even Sharon Ventura was interesting in her FF time. All in all, the Ms. Marvel name does have some good comics behind it. (Also, the recent Captain Marvel series that just finished - frikkin fantastic! One on my favourite comics runs in years)
The black thunderbolt Ms. Marvel design is _the_ superheroine design to me. It's the most iconic, coolest, most powerful look. Her Captain Marvel design is fine, but it looks more "corporate" or Superman-y, like she's an "approved" superhero, where the Ms. Marvel costume looks like a vigilante. Power Girl's design is probably my second pick, so it's weird to find out they were actually created by the same guy, especially since I used to conflate Ms. Marvel and Power Girl in my mind, as if they were different incarnations of the same character
Dr. Karla Sofen (Moonstone) is one of my all time favorite Marvel characters. (I count her as a hero, though it's complicated.) I look forward to your proposed video on her.
Hey, good on you for bringing up how you once were. I respect the fuck out of you for being able to look back and see how cringy it was too many don’t grow out of it and double down, good shit dude.

Bruh I swear it’s the woe as me mentality while completely disregarding the other person’s feelings and in turn showing that you don’t even respect them enough to acknowledge their feelings and yet they’re supposed to prioritize yours over their own😭
My head cannon Sharon made a deal with mephestio, to be able to turn back to human. In return she will become one of hells enforcers in a more demonic rock form.
Dang this video was good with, in my opion, on oversight Tsu-Zana. She is better known as Ultragirl and was a charecter during the mid 2000s during Civil War and the Intiative, I being her up only because right before Dark Reign Carol actually gave her the Ms. Marvel costume that was then almost immediately taken by Norman Osborn for Moonstone. But honestly I think Drake could do an excellent video about the "lost generation" of young superheros from marvel during that time. Cause the OG Prodigy, Gravity, and like all of Avengers Academy have had almost 0 recognition since mid 2010's and at leat to me that fascinating considering how promoted a lot, especially Gravity, these charecter where.
I prefer Carol Danvers in her Binary era. I mean, not only is it her best look in my opinion, but I feel like reverting her back to Ms. Marvel was a step back for her character, especially since it wasn't a title she was going to keep for very long.
For about half a second there was another Ms. Marvel. Ultragirl (Suzy Sherman) was given Carol's costume and wore it during Secret Invasion, only for Norman Osborne to legally seize it during Dark Reign to give it to Moonstone. I don't know if this counts (I don't remember if Suzy actually used the name or not), but I figured I'd mention it.
I appreciate the research that you did here to prepare this worthwhile content. Kudos. . I really despised most everything David Michelene was writing at Marvel. Coupled with "bad art" days of work by Bob Harris, B. McLeod,, George Perez, etc. These were "bad" Marvel comics seemingly written for and by 10 year olds. In my view not worthy of my hard-earned dimes and quarters. This was the time period when a lot of the industries' old "great" and foundational penciling (and inking) talent was moving on and being replaced by "B" level imitators who could crank out the work. Growing up, I had a voracios appetite for material rom all publishers. But, after the first 3 - 5 decades, I evolved into a a comics snob and elitist and found that I only had the time and money for only what I consider the best content. The writing AND art has to be up to high standards. I think 80 - 85 percent of comics content is just "fodder". (Perfectly reflected in the mid-70s Adam Warlock comic by Jim Starlin called "1,000 Clowns"). The quality stuff are timeless expressions of the "sequential art" form and is what finally inspired Hollywood to start making these into films, tv and streaming shows. Now, similar to comics, only 15 - 20 percent of superhero media content is garbage and fodder. I thought the world reached a saturation point with Avengers Endgame, but I was very wrong. This public appetite for a lot of poorly conceived and executed content far exceeds my old nerdy, voracious appetite-having, niche hobby. The advent and level of "Cosplay" events all over the country illustrates how "next level" the general public has gotten. They're making more than plenty of this garbage, so everybody eat up!
Monica Rambeau was never Ms. Marvel, she was CAPTAIN Marvel.

there is a article online about the INHUMANS in the MCU. apparently MARVEL decided since the INHUMANS series didn't get great reviews/fanfare they decided to slowly remove them from the MCU.
@@sunnwukong1941 and then introduce black bolt and terrogen mist in Dr strange 2?
Only recently did I get into comics thanks to you drake I’ve started with the first 3 volumes of ms marvel.
Superia was Ms.Marvel. And Monica Rambeau and Phayla-Vell deserved a shout out for Being in the Marvel Family. But this is your video and you did a great job. Thanks for working so hard on this great content.
I just realized how similar Avengers 200 is to Angel season 4 and now I want to unthink it
Big oof
Really hope for that Moonstone video
This is my favorite part of the video!5:23
I think we both need more diversity in regards to superhero names.
Maybe the thing we see is someone in the thing suit reed made for Ben when he lost his powers
i really enjoyed the long depth video. I'm usually not into 20m videos but ur stuff has me hooked
Finally, someone said "Here's the Thing" and subsequently showed me the Thing!
So many things discussed, so few Things shown.
Lmfao i was legit about to say before you got to the symbiote thing "So she's the new spiderman" lmfao
Dr. Karla Sofen (Moonstone) is one of my all time favorite Marvel characters. (I count her as a hero, though it's complicated.) I look forward to your proposed video on her.
I like her too. She could have easily been in captain Marvel's mythos as a anti-hero.
@@Killgore-ip2yq I'm hoping they'll introduce her to the MCU in either Secret Invasion or The Marvels.
Moonstone video 👀👀
3:22 SWEEP?!
Bought all 5 OHCs to prepare for the Plus series. So far I'm not super impressed with it. Would love a video of your thoughts after the series wraps.
Hey Drake, I know you mostly talk about Marvel stuff but would you ever consider doing a video about Amethyst of Gemworld?
yeah see this I understand Marvel maybe overstretched themselves with the Captain Marvel movie when Carol's origin and backstory is like hyper crazy.
I can't stop hearing "SPOOOON" being yelled by The Tick whenever I see a Magic Spoon sponsor ad lol
Fuck yeah! There are so many and they do deserve a shout out. Ms. Marvel from the Thunderbolts banged everyone and was a bad ass
No wonder Carol Danvers is now a hardcore character they put her through the finger
I gotta say: you have an absolutely baller background on here…totally nerving out spotting all the super hero/villain logos.
Hey, good on you for bringing up how you once were. I respect the fuck out of you for being able to look back and see how cringy it was too many don’t grow out of it and double down, good shit dude.
i didn't know the no memory thing was actually from her origins, which makes that plotline even more meaningful in the captain marvel movie
The Marvels is my no way home. We’re getting Carol,Monica,Kamala and (possibly) Genis-vell which i am so damn excited for
That is the horniest official Power Girl art I have ever seen
I love the black and gold Carol Danvers Ms Marvel costume best
Ever consider doing a video on miss thing?
Comic Drake, I like the backsplash in your vids which has the insignias/logos of superheroes (and supervillains). Nice touch--and I like this video as well! Great Job! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💯💯
Thank you for the quick history lesson. Much appreciated.
8:36 why am i not surprised he gone through a phase like that.
Thank you for this. Much appreciated.
I'm just here to say thank you for posting your old college picture because that shit is both amazing and hillarious.
And also that Sharon Ventura is an awful character. Some characters just don't work and that is her.
This is the first video I’m seeing of you guys, I noticed the blue hope symbol in the background and I immediately subscribed. Thank you 😘
14:38 lmao i'm using that for now on. Finally a reason to say Gumby.
DO SOME DEEP DIVE KAMALA-KHANTENT PLEASE!!!!!
I love your videos and I enjoy the content. I just wanted to add that when Norman Osborn restarted the dark avengers, Superia was also Ms. Marvel.
Hey Drake great video. But here's idea for another:
EVERY Thor Explained!
Can't forget Superia's Ms Marvel run on the new dark avengers!!
Please make a video about Moonstone.
8:38 WHY DID YOI CALL URSELF OUT LIKE THAT PFFTT.
Bruh I swear it’s the woe as me mentality while completely disregarding the other person’s feelings and in turn showing that you don’t even respect them enough to acknowledge their feelings and yet they’re supposed to prioritize yours over their own😭
I wish they would’ve had the original Captain Marvel in the MCU or made some sort of reference to it maybe in the multi universe.
My head cannon Sharon made a deal with mephestio, to be able to turn back to human. In return she will become one of hells enforcers in a more demonic rock form.
That sounds pretty awesome actually!
Do all of johnny storm's girlfriends/love interest or all the marvel people with human torch powers
Good overview. Kinda wish you went into Karla's battle with Carol over the name, but I get that you can't include everything.
Carol gave her the costume, not the name.
She specifically continued to go by Ultragirl even while in Carol's old costume.
@@ComicDrake Ah ok, that's what I get for relying on my old man brain.
I like Carol Danver's Ms. Marvel a lot.. grew up knowing that version more
Chris Claremonts writing was 💯 outstanding
They're making more than plenty of this garbage, so everybody eat up!
...What?
Man I love your videos, I hope to see a video with you and thorgi one day!!
You could have talked more about the 2006 Ms. Marvel series.
I know that Carol is the original, but I felt like she was getting a bit too much time in the video as is. 🤷♂️
Amazing shirt Dude!
