I saw this video years ago and have been taking inositol ever since. One third teaspoon a day (beyond that, it can cause me to wake up groggy). It continues to help me with obsessive rumination. I'm basically conditioned now. When I have intrusive thoughts of regrets, embarrassing moments, etc., I think, "Welp. Time to take inositol." And the negative thoughts are eased. Not completely gone, but significantly reduced. I recommend anybody struggling with obsessive negative thoughts to give it a try.

This is out of curiosity, but aren't supplements the same? As in, if you take them you feel good, but when you stop you go back to feeling bad. Feels like a band aid than a cure. Any insights are appreciated 👍

I've been taking 5-HTP for my constant OCD/Intrusive thoughts like you, so far my anxiety has been decreased a lot. Although the thoughts still come often, just not as much. I'm still looking for more relief as I totally relate with having an intrusive thought every damn second of your life. Gonna give the 5-HTP another 3 weeks then add inositol on top of it to see if it helps a little more. Glad you found help dude. I wonder if inositol is better long term than the amino acid 5-HTP.

I am very glad that we are helping each other because traditional medicine has not asked to get to the cause of the problem, they only bring the symptoms with medicines that end up damaging the body over a long time. My family doctor told me that he felt helpless with my case of chronic anxiety and fatigue and that he could no longer do anything, he even refused to do more blood tests. I am totally disappointed in our health system, with doctors who are certified only to formulate medicines, I thank the doctors who are interested and go beyond the problem.

Constantly improving is part of being human.… Personally, it was relieving to me to found out that I had atypical neurology, however you want to call that being autistic or whatever… having a brain that is operating on high it’s just difficult to deal with and a world that is just average. Anyway, I’m not going to give you any advice I’m sure you’re extremely intelligent and will figure out what makes you more comfortable And dealing with being different in a very average world :-)

Random thought popped in just now; what if ocd isn't a disorder but more like a personality trait, like adhd or autism. Being obsessed isn't benificial if it's negative thoughts or compulsions like skin picking, counting, cleaning but what if we turned the obsession into something positive like emerging into new skills or ur career and obsess over those things, idk, just mind a scrabble.

This is why I enjoy music. Playing piano and guitar, involves learning skills that require repetition, memorising patterns (musical scales) and memorisation of musical phrases by ear and finger positioning on the on each instrument. It comes easier to me I think due to my ocd. It also feels like it can make my OCD worse if I’m in a bad place? But usually it gives me another healthy release for my OCD. But I never quit it, it’s been the best thing for my mental health and gives me a sense of purpose

Melatonin helps putting me to sleep but not very much with keeping me in deep sleep. Valerian is a good option to calm me down as well, day time or night time (it works with GABA in your brain).
