Rules:
Same signs:
Add the absolute value(for example -1 -- 3, the 1 and 3 are the absolute values)
Keep the common sign(in -1 -3 the common sign is the - so the answer would he -4
Different signs:
Subtract the absolute value
Keep the sign of the number with the greatest(biggest) absolute value(for example: -1+3, we subtract 3-1 which is 2 then which number is bigger? 3 and what sign is 3? The + therefore the answer is positive 2(2)
