      Nah I think he was nervous chatting to Jesse, you can see some fairly typical body language that suggests he was nervy at the beginning of the interview.
      He seems to calm down and adapt his language almost immediately after...but he still can't help use the word. It's natural as his brain processes the questions.
      I'm just really glad they all got together for a good chat.

    1:01:00 My issue with Baronne is not only what Josh and Jesse said, but also the fact that because it's so good, it's the default option for every single synchro deck. Whenever I see profiles of synchro heavy deacks, they always default to Baronne because it's just that good and while I don't think any other thing about it is ban worthy, I'd like to see it banned just for the sake of variety and creativity.

    • @geek593
      @geek593 4 месяца назад +7

      That's an extremely bad reason to ban something. In a lot of cases if you remove Baronne you don't get smarter synchro decks with more variety. You just stop seeing synchros. If a card isn't unhealthy there isn't much of a reason to ban it.

      Every bad format we've had since major events came back has worn down my friends and locals groups little by little with almost no replacement churn like in the past. Scythe format, Tear format, Diablosis/SHS format, and most recently Snake-Eyes format have whittled it down so much the two per week modern tournaments dropped to one if it will even fire. The December banlist did a lot of people in.

    A tier 0 format like this where the cards are so expensive and the staples like SP too being unaffordable will drive people away and keep new players from joining. Its not even worth going to locals right now because Snake-eye is so strong the only thing that can compete with it is itself. At least in Kashtira format you had infinite amount of outs. This one is too broken even more than tear.

    Playing against tier was terrible you was forced to play hand traps an side deck cards that specifically hit tier but might not work against other decks. An it might felt like your opponent could play but in reality there end board didn't let you do much of anything extremely one sided. But I don't have any of those issues going against Fire I can play my game I can run interruption that fit multiple match ups. An too me it's not as oppressive

    "Getting hand trapped and not playing game is bad" Gee... not like I have not been saying hand traps are the core of the issue in today's game because they are the standard for which decks can and cannot realistically be viable to compete with.
    "When deck can play through hand traps, it's a good mirror." Gee, I guess Konami has to make decks more powerful then what hand traps can stop leading to power creep that increases faster then it would if they did not exist.
    "Hand traps exist to stop unbreakable boards." Boards are only really unbreakable in modern YGO due to throwing additional interactions in the form of generic ed monsters. So guess how you stop them from happening? BAN FUCKING BARONNE AND STOP PRINTING SP LITTLE KNIGHT, aka get on on Konami's ass about generic interaction. Not enough of the community does so.
    You ban all these generic assholes that come up EVERY SINGLE FORMAT and you can play through most interaction with just engine, turning the game into a combo heavy yet still resource management intensive back and forth (ie highly skillful). And when you can play through it with just engine, hand traps can go fuck themselves onto the ban list as well.
    Case closed.

    • @geek593
      @geek593 4 месяца назад +2

      If you remove hand traps you have to vacuum up the power level of archetypes or else the game turns into the solitaire outsiders think it is.

    • @plantseason290
      @plantseason290 4 месяца назад +1

      It's always funny when people assume I want unbreakable boards when I say I hate handtraps. No, get rid of both and increase interaction.

    • @PathBeyondTheDark
      @PathBeyondTheDark 4 месяца назад +1

      @@geek593Yes power will have to be scaled back a bit. But No, no it won't become somitaire. If every board amounts to Earth Machine type nothingness because they have 1 or 2 in-archetype interruptions it will not be optimal to blow your load turn 1. CARD ECONOMY RETURNS? Still can combo if you wish or if you have the otk? The game would be amazing. Think man, think! Use that head of yours! 😁

    • @PathBeyondTheDark
      @PathBeyondTheDark 4 месяца назад +1

      @@plantseason290 Limited interaction is fine, just like every other card game. It's a lot more skill intensive when turn player is tasked with making the correct play to play around the opponents board rather then just hoping they don't negate the right thing, which is often just a lucky guess on their part unless the deck has a serious choke point. Limit interaction to 2 or 3 non-negates and suddenly you must really think about how you use them.

    I'll give gouki over striker when yall had mid breaker field. It's def a die roll. If striker goes first amd goes bananas with Engage which was all the time and the deck ends up drawing in to cards like ogre It should win. Also, going second let's say you open like Gamma, ogre I get that sky can't kill but at the end of the day you better set them superexs my thing is lets say you take these two decks vs each other and they design themselves for only facing each other and gouki does not get mid breaker field. I feel like sky will win 6/10 matches. Droll could be slightly effective. Striker could opt for cherries etc. They were easily 1 & 2. I loved both of them... but there was just something about striker that made it the most fun deck I have ever played. I played full power rock, dragons, gouki, hand loop norden mermail, Dino rabbit, wind ups, inzektos, trick star, etc nothing will ever be more fun then resolving 3 engages under role drawing in to 2-3 hand traps woth set 4 and 4-5 in hand. Such a complete deck that did not have to be a hybrid or combo deck to be good at everything.
