Ive tried 2 times the past week putting new bearings in my spindles and every time the wheel bearing wants to go in sideways and get hung up scaring the spindle. How do you get them to go in so straight? Tired of buying new wheel bearings. I did this on my old car no issues.
i've had them start off center before just go slow reajust the press to push on the higher side, some just self center and go evenly. I've learned to clean up the knuckle/spindle before pressing them in and reinstall the retainer plate also make sure the inner part of the bearing race is supported on the back side before pressing the hub in, if you end up with some play try to tighten up the bearing as it got separated some pressing in the hub, also if the hub is worn just replace it, some bearings just have issues when new even when pressed in perfectly.
nope, knock out the hub pull the bearing retainer plate off press out the old bearing press in the new one install the plate with the 3 bolts press in the hub and install
Hi Matt) I wanted to ask you... I replaced the hub bearing on the left one... because there was a small hum when turning right... replaced this bearing... but the hum also remained((when turning the steering wheel to the right((at a speed of 60 and above...help, please) what could be the problem with this hum, except for the bearing...?
hello, some times this is hard to diagnose but if the noise gets louder when turning right then left it will be most likely the left front side as its the out side wheel in the turn and receiving the most load, pressure and weight transfer. I would check that side tie rod ends ball joints "shake down" before pulling it apart, remove rotor and see if the hub wiggles around and spin it see if its smooth any play or roughness, catching, when spinning replace it. its a good idea to look every thing over see if any thing need fixed asap or so you can plan to fix it soon.
yes 03 and newer some will have the hole for the tie rod in a different location then the srt called acker-man knuckle it will increase the turning radius of the neon i do have a few different videos on this on the channel install and showing how much you gain you will need to get a toe adjustment
I hate you southern mechanics y’all got it so easy in terms of not having to fight with rusty fasteners most of the time it’s just easier for us to take a torch to bolts and parts and just replace it all
Getting her back in shape ! Nice helper
Jamie Melius helping 1 srt4 at a time 👍
You can also use a bearing separator to pull off the old inner race from the hub. Less chance of marring the surface.
njshift I just try most times to show common tools to do jobs but it’s kinda hard to get around a press
That front bumper lip on that car looks awesome would love to have one for my silver bullet 😀 04 srt4
It looks good my only gripe is I find my self almost stepping on it or tripping into the engine bay trying not to step on it.
Nice video, you didn't talk to much,we like it like that. I just subscribed.
thanks for watching hopefully the information helped you out some videos I do lots of talking or rambling on...

Do you know if the pt cruiser turbo steering knuckle the same as the srt4?

How do u Do you get the ball joint off in the tire rod end off
By using a tie rod/balljoint separator. They have some at Harbor Freight
I dont have access to a press, would it be easier to buy a new knuckle and put in on?
If you can find one new but I’m sure for the cost you can buy a new bearing and pay someone to install it cheaper then what the knuckle will cost
What spliter is that?
I think the guy said it was for a newer sti ?
@@Mattsneedforspeed i wonder what year
