      Yes it's a good tool. Top tip would be oil the threaded bar

    Next time use the brass washer on the side your turning. It won't cut into the plates.

      @vintagesteelgarage  5 лет назад +1

      Yes that's a good idea. On the second bearing I greased the nut which helped.

    Use the washers included, that way you spare the tool and make it easier to crank. Also put oil on threads and washers (like you did) but worth mention again since it could mean the life or death of your tool if not oiled.

      Good point Robert. I've used a few times since this video and always oil.

      molybdenum grease is best thing use on threads and what supplied in pro kits like OTC, AP, Laser and if got ball bearing thrust washer some oil on that . light smear of oil in bore and bearing outer surface can ease fitting, synthetic atf is a good choice, nice and slippery and good load capability, corrosion prevention and not too messy .

    They not bad for potential price . better if use washer and put bolt through same side as pulling .
    Main issue is gamble on quality and condition you get it in because although most kits look same they are not as seems be several almost same but not same if look very closely .
    I had a bush cup sleeve kit and it pretty decent but I did research and studied pictures and bought one with proper acme thread and spring steel retaining clips rather than standard thread and o-rings that get chewed up along with threads every time you use it . .
    The wheel bearing kit with the 22mm bolt and nut rather than the 18mm is one to get and price on that has also been as low £40 (seen kits same as yours as low as £26 at times) but big bolt kit normally 50 to 60 range but it more durable and comes with a thrust ball bearing washer plate which helps as well .
    bigger bearing and tighter bearing kill the 18mm bolts every time even if using plenty molybdenum grease as hex shears off .
    You can load pressure on bearing and use a air hammer on rear get it moving then once moved fairly easy on bolt take it rest of way ...
    Some of cheap kit is quite capable you just got be willing make effort research potential best kit design and not overpay (you can get the pro astro pneumatic master kit for £120)
    Main thing is have some fun wrenching and hope the kits you buy work out good ...

      Get the kit with 22mm bolt and thrust ball bearing washer, only 10 to £15 more but more capable pulling tight and larger bearings .

    Push plate around the wrong way but it still did it, just because that side died doesn't mean the other bearing is bad, just extra unnecessary work and money

    Looks good. Those bearings are quite deep.

      Get them moving initially they went with a good satisfying crack :-) Tool worked well and much better than trying to drift out with a hammer. Apparently the Porsche S bearings are another 10mm wider still.

      Thanks for feedback. Can't see a problem if using to remove bearing I wouldn't use it to refit. However with a long enough breaker bar or pole over the breaker bar it should be enough leverage to get the bearing moving.
