Chris, thanks for taking the time to create this video...while I don't own a Zino I'm sure this video could be incredibly valuable to those who do own one and who might need to take on this task. Question: For brushless motors are there symptoms that one might see that would indicate the motor and/or ESC is about to fail? And if so what would those symptoms be? Or do they just tend to be catastrophic failures with no warning signs? Obviously if they fail in flight I'm assuming that the drone would just fall out of the sky...what has your experience been?
Jet Martin Never have seen a warning sign personally nor have I had one or the other just fail in flight.
I’ve seen stuff from people I have helped but those esc signs usually won’t let you fly or tell you your very stupid if you do try. 😂
Usually a crash causes the failure. Most common I have seen anyhow.

I find the best way to remove solder is with a "solder wick". It's basically just a ribbon of braided copper that soaks it all up when heated - very easy. Just search for "solder wick".

Hi again QC Guy:) I have been trying to find a decal kit for the Zino with no luck. I have emailed them at Hubsan for some kind of schematic of the plastic sizes as I would like to personalise my drone and Controller. What do you think? I have looked on line and there is loads for the Mavic etc:( I have only seen one on RUclips that as been wrapped in a 5d Carbon and it looks quite nice. Any ideas yourself as I know you like to tincker with them. hehe. I dont have mine yet but would like to know for all the cut outs etc.

You will get nothing from Hubsan which I will bet my life on and if they do reply it will be asking for videos and pictures and mass confusion. I might add pin stripes but I don't do any skins or anything like that. Sorry

Chris, is there a way to check motor health by adjustable power supply . If we apply Voltage Black and Red or Black and Yellow will the motor spin?
You need a special meter to test them. I think you can find information if you search for something like test brushless drones or rc motors. 👍🏻

good night. I couldn't remove the esc and the wires that connect it by the arm. is very difficult. I thought about leaving the wires and just changing the esc, but I'm afraid it was the wires that burned the esc
Srt Nay Check continuity on wires and cross check them for shorts.
How good would it be if you could set different settings for expert mode and normal mode. So have the gimbal speed and aircraft speed set low for better filming. Then for expert mode have them set high for taking pictures etc....

Hey I see you have a lot of information on the Zino.. my 18 month old zino no longer can connect to the transmitter and says USB disconnected every time. Any tips or a link that may help me before I run it over with my truck in frustration?? thanks!
At that age if it just started doing it then it is likely the main board. I repair drones and a lot of Zino’s. Sometimes it is a board that can be repaired and sometimes it just needs replaced.

Hey QC... I crashed my H117s. Rear passenger motor does not spin at all but has 12V at pins A-C to on the ESC... Can I assume a motor alone would fix this, how would you handle this?...
Secondly, I am getting a "gimbal sensor abnormal" error in red on the app and the gimbal does not operate up and down, video recording and the image is good.... How would you handle this???? Much thanks. Want to save this drone if I can. Just got it a week ago and unfortunately have spoiled my experience by crashing it :(
My rule of thumb is parts are cheap and replace both motor and esc while you’re in there anyhow.
If you go into the settings of the app under the gimbal tab it should give you a code if there is a issue.
If it says 2000 I can tell you it needs the gimbal cable replaced for sure.

Hey QC Guy, you helped me out on calibrating my gimbal and fixing me up with the program to do it with and I want to thank you for that. Gimbals working perfect now. Now I have a new problem hopefully you might have an answer to. My battery must have popped out while i had it about 350 feet up and it came crashing down, relatively slowly at least. When i picked it up everything was intact but both the motors on one side wont spin. Lights come on and the rear one is really hot. If one ESC on one motor, will that affect the other motor on that same side or are both ESC's probably bad or am i dealing with a problem further in the quad? Its a Hubsan Zino Pro Plus by the way. Thanks again.
One esc won’t effect the others so it sounds like you need to check voltage out on your power supply board that feeds esc and lights.
Ok. I can tell that one ESC looks fried. Looks burnt and gets real hot. If the output voltage is off, does that mean I’d probably need a new main board?

Chris,Thanks for the video. I have replaced the back(B) motor. Before flight , i have tested w/o Propellers installed. I checked the motors by my hand , I noticed all three motors spins Clockwise , but the front(B) motor spins CCW. Is this normal behaviour?
No that’s a problem...
Sounds like you have reversed the red and black wires on the motor you replaced.

I flew my zino 2 after the crashed few days before, then suddenly my zino 2 felt from 100 m alt while flying.
Now the front right motor only spin abit everytime I start, kind of stuck, rotate abit then stop again. How do you define the ESC is broken or not, all the LED light on the ESC are working perfectly except the front right motor. Can the LED light on if the ESC is burnt ?
The led can still light if the esc is burnt. If you don’t feel anything when turning the motor by hand it’s likely to be the esc. I personally replace both when in question 👍

Thank you so much. I did that once (just the motor part ok)... but now I had to open it and "pass" the cable w esc to the short arm... When i try to turn it on blue lights are on for 2 secs (w the relative noise) but then itgoes off.... I opened it again i found and fixed 1 of the 4 cables of esc... but still goes off. Both red lights dont go on... could u consult where to focus?...or an email to contact you:)
Antigoni Kotsoni It sounds like a wire or wires are still not right. I don’t know what you’re problem was prior or if damages were more widespread so it’s hard to tell you anything without that and not having it in front of me on my bench it’s equally hard. There’s not a one answer suggestion or fix in this case unfortunately. Sorry 😐

Hello Friend. Man I really need your help let me tell you my story: I received my Drone Zino yesterday, I called and the red light is blinking I have been searching a lot and it seems that it is not releasing the signal from the wi-fi and it really is not because on the cell phone no appears my phone can detect 5g. I can connect the cell phone to the control normally only that the cell phone doesn’t show the Zino network there ... I saw several videos talking about this problem and they all indicate that it’s a problem in the flat only that the Drone came in brand new I just opened it and even did a boxing I just can't link here but RUclips and block that comment for you. have any idea what you can do because the Drone as I said came zero new just took it out of the box and called it is ok the cute app turned on the phone and already gave this problem right away and I who will stabilize normal ... Thanks I await response
CANAL LELOTREM Usually it’s something to do with the camera cable but sometimes the micro sd slot isn’t connected to the board correctly or came loose and this effects the connection as well. It could be something totally different but that’s all I can tell you right now.

Hi Chris, my zino crashed down hitting a tree and fell on a pavement(very unlucky😅) This caused the 2 ribbons connecting on both sides of gimbal snap,now no feed,binds and even wifi signal. My question is does the 2 broken ribbons are somewhat intergrated with wifi connections or maybe theres another issue with its mainboard? It stills boot up completely. I hope u can help me as im planning to order replacement on broken ribbons..thanks and have a good one!

Thanks for the video QC. In my Zino, the red motor wire comes last. Did anyone else notice this or could it be that mirror effect with selfie cameras?
There two combinations or directions the red in black wires go. Yellow is always the same though.

It appears as if the motor on my Zino Pro is bound up after an upside down crash on pavement. I'm pretty sure its physical problem with the motor. It is stiff in rotation. Should I also change the ESC while I'm into it? And please send me the parts if you have spare lol

hi, i have a motor stopped because a crash. I check the ESC and motor but i don't see anything broken or something similar. The problem of these components are visible? or just stop working
You most likely have a bad ESC but just be smart and replace the motor and ESC because the shafts on the Zino motors bend easily.
On what factors that esc and motor is broken? Is it because of too hot or dust?
Muhammad Firdaus First it’s a piece of electronics that gets pretty hot and can simply just fail but normally it’s something like a crash that puts resistance on that motor and causes that ESC to burnout.
My rule of thumb is if a motor fails or a ESC fails just replace both while you’re in there.

Money Mitch I can sell you a arm with the motor and esc already installed and ready but you will still need to solder the wires to the power board but it’s way easier soldering wise for sure.

You have to pry the lamp shade off with a little more force on the rear legs. Pry the opposite end of the screw and it will come off. Like I said it requires more force but it will come off.
