I have the 501S and just bought the Zino I only know that my "501S is a beast", I've flown it for over a year every single day and it still flys great other than the bad camera I love it. This all could be great news in my opinion 😁
Interesting observations, it looks like the cpu could do with a hand in the way of some ventilation and at least a heat sink , the esc situation , I agree, looks problematic in the future, I wonder why they opted to miniaturise the control board when it appears that there’s plenty of room in the arm cavity for an off the shelf in line esc board? Shape the future Tech The larger metal cover on the left side in the video does cover 3/4 of the electronics but yes in rain there is still exposure going on so rain could get moisture to those parts.

Great video of the zino take down! It gives me a little bit more confidence because my Zino suddenly stopped one rear motor and of course, flew quickly to the earth below! Fortunately it was only 15' up at the time awaiting a command, hovering. So, now I have this problem but before I tackle it, since the light on the arm does not work, it seems like more than a motor failure. Does this make sense, whats my options?
@@QCGUY Hi Chris, thanks for replying. I found a esc wire off the connection inside, soldered it and it started working. Should have checked that first before assuming it was the motor or esc board. Anyway, after replacing esc, and the resoldering the wire inside, it worked but motor turns opposite direction than needed. Can I swap the red and black wire connection on the esc board to fix this problem?
Hello QC Guy! Thanks for sharing video from the disassambly. I have a problem with my Zino. I hope you have a solution to my problem. My Zino is crashed (from 2m after take-off, not to big speed, It automatically go to the wall). Now the controller is not connect to my Zino. The connection the controller between the mobile phone is working, but the zino is not connect (Disconnected Aircraft). Do you have a solution to this problem? Was the wifi chip is broken? Or antenna problem? I don't know. :(
is there any idea to mod zino's onboard anthena to extend its range?? i'd see your video of anthena mod on the transmitter, and it wont extend range, how if mod the anthena on zino?
zudha aulia You can’t extend the range on the Zino. It programmed for that distance which is a good thing for a wifi quad and probably why you don’t hear of so many losses.

I bought the Zino and the pro from hubsan from eBay brand new in the box. The Zino Pro I started having toilet bowl issues right out of out of the box. I did all the updates I just dealt with it for a few months. I always do a compass calibration and horizontal calibration before flying every battery pack... for what I paid for this thing I should not have had this problem. One afternoon about a month ago I I took off and soon as I did it went crazy hit my house not the hole in the side and hit a tree and hit my lawn mower before it finally came to rest on the ground it was tore all to pieces. I called Hubsan and they would not help me at all.. they told me to get it squared away from the person I bought it from eBay and they claim to have been based in California. The product was new so the Hubsan should have taken care of it and they did not. So I'm stuck with a $ 450 bird that will never be able to fly again. I will never buy another Hubsan and encourage other people not to buy any Hubsan product.

Hi Hubsan QC. About ventilation, at 25:09 when you remove the motherboard, I noticed two small slots on the side of the Zino, that are opposite to the other slots for the SD card and the USB port. Don't you think, considering the fan effect of the props, that these, plus the slots on the black cover, could be sufficient to guarantee sufficient ventilation? About the "fake 4K camera, have you checked the size of the video file on your PC? It seems impossible to me that Hubsan could lie about a such important spec of their brand new drone!
Gerald Brogan without looking at the video I would say you’re seeing the where the arm shoulder joint covers are removed. As for the 4K I don’t think I said Hubsan is being dishonest but my point is they aren’t producing it. Many don’t but it’s fine because like I said it’s very good quality and most can’t utilize 4K anyhow.
@@QCGUY You need to look at the video. There are two slots on the opposite side of the USB port. And please check the size of the Zino's video file on your PC.

They are directly beside the wifi module and unfortunately get partially blocked once you put the cover on and are not in a area to create the flow of air needed to cool it sufficiently by props in my opinion. As for the 4K we'll have to agree to disagree there I guess. Despite file size and everything in the build to make it 4K I don't see the quality there yet when watching on my 4K monitor.
Kenneth Pearson It the part in the covered in plastic. I called it a gyro for gyroscope from habit. Hubsan use to always refer to it as a gyro sensor but in their parts they do call it a barometer. 👍

Gorilla Man I have but didn’t focus so much on that as I did the antennas and battery. It’s a easy open after you remove the screws but open the bottom first and slide up so you don’t damage the gimbal control wheel.
@@QCGUY : Opps... I forgot to ask... I see 4 screws for the controller. Two on the back and 2 under the pullout bar. Do you take them all out and then the faceplate just lifts off? Add On: *** I was able to get the controller apart. The whole back 1/2 comes off and all the boards are screwed to the underside of the top. I did not take any of the boards off but it looks pretty simple. I will wait to see what Hubsan have to say before I go digging around. The only thing that does not work is this video switch... for now I can live with using the App for Video.
*** I did get a sequence that works all the time to power up using Android... so that's good. I even had to use a spare cable I had because the supplied one was too fat for my phone with its case. I use my Bebop shorty cable and a Samsung dongle... works great. Only question I have really is why the instructions say you have to connect to the craft WiFi in the Controls settings when you are already connected to the controller by the phone? I wonder what turning on Airplane mode would do? ... Lots of fun ahead...
So many things could go wrong with this little bird... If those cables inside the arms got damaged and you had to replace them... It would be a nightmare. I had the hope that one day Hubsan was going to bring out a H501S with a camera gimbal kind of the fimi A3. Watching this is a nightmare. If l have to replace parts. Like the motor,ESC and etc. I don't want to think about this. I don't think Zino have parts yet for replacement.
So it is. . . But ZINO is frankly weaker than the 501 model. My 501 is flying at a distance of more than 2 km( for the sake of honesty I must say that at long range the execution of commands from the control loses accuracy).Zino transmit good image quality up to 300m; normal - up to 500 meters ; from the distance of 500m and more - video poor quality! Dramatically reduced detail, the picture crumbles into squares, viscous,the video stream begins to twitch and goes as if in portions. The signal strength indicator shows all 5 or 4 dashes. Not reaching 1000m. there is a complete loss of communication. My personal opinion is a complete omission of HUBSAN engineers. The power of the transmitter needs at least 500 milliwatts(1/2 watt). Whatever it was thanks for the sensible review!
I think antenna placement was a poor choice and plays a factor as well. Both are in the front legs while the 501A has one in the front leg and one in the rear leg. Good comment...Thank You!
I appreciate your videos , But Hubsan does NOT support their product defects! I advise shoppers to look elsewhere instead of Hubsan simply based on reliability... I had failure in my Zino Pro and it destroyed itself. I do not take chances and risk while flying any model Aviation because these things can really hurt somebody if they fall out of the sky . I have a destroyed bird and Hubsan would not support me at all...You get what you pay for...Never a HUBSAN AGAIN..

I think the big issue is that the holes on the top of the shell, it's not recommended to fly in rain, even small rain.

does reversing the red and black motor wires on the esc make it turn opposite?

Most likely one of the cables on the gimbal or inside the quad from the gimbal are loose.

Never let them sit for long periods of time. I charge and use within 3 days usually.

Hello, I wanted to see if you can help me with my zino pro, I had an accident and when I try to turn it on, it turns off immediately if I leave the button pressed it sounds like when it starts, the fan starts but the LEDs do not and it turns off as soon as I release the button. switched on

I am confused, you say it is not a 4k camera but doesn't it uses an Ambarella Sport Camera chip which is an 8 megapixel chip i.e. 3840x2160

4096 x 2160 is true 4K, 3840 x 2160 is not true 4K because the 3840 isnt above 4 thousand pixels. Thats why they called it 4k

Watching this is a nightmare. If l have to replace parts. Like the motor,ESC and etc. I don't want to think about this. I don't think Zino have parts yet for replacement.
Lets hope many won't have to but yes it will be a task for the ones who don't know how and even the experienced won't be thrilled to do it.

Jeremy Foster and you get good quality with this one. Im not knocking them on camera quality. They did good there for the most part.
Everytime I watch zino on RUclips, I feel zino is mavic pro gimmick toys. Not even close to h501s quality

So it is. . . But ZINO is frankly weaker than the 501 model. My 501 is flying at a distance of more than 2 km( for the sake of honesty I must say that at long range the execution of commands from the control loses accuracy).Zino transmit good image quality up to 300m; normal - up to 500 meters ; from the distance of 500m and more - video poor quality! Dramatically reduced detail, the picture crumbles into squares, viscous,the video stream begins to twitch and goes as if in portions. The signal strength indicator shows all 5 or 4 dashes. Not reaching 1000m. there is a complete loss of communication. My personal opinion is a complete omission of HUBSAN engineers. The power of the transmitter needs at least 500 milliwatts(1/2 watt).

I think antenna placement was a poor choice and plays a factor as well. Both are in the front legs while the 501A has one in the front leg and one in the rear leg. Good comment...Thank You!

I appreciate your videos , But Hubsan does NOT support their product defects! I advise shoppers to look elsewhere instead of Hubsan simply based on reliability... I had failure in my Zino Pro and it destroyed itself. I do not take chances and risk while flying any model Aviation because these things can really hurt somebody if they fall out of the sky . I have a destroyed bird and Hubsan would not support me at all...You get what you pay for...Never a HUBSAN AGAIN..
