I can’t tell if you’re serious or not, but while Dayo isn’t a fan of Reignited but still did an entire play-through anyways, plus from what I understand he doesn’t HATE it and said ‘if you’re a casual player it’s fine’ but it’s not his kinda game like Spyro 1 OG is to him, and what Reignited means to you.
My issue with the sound isn’t the fact it’s changed, it’s the fact that most of the sounds are very toned down, nothing feels crunchy anymore. I do love both of these games though.
I kind of miss seeing the dragon counter do a number flip into a bright white flash, Or seeing all the gems fly into the air on the loading screen then land into the chest.

Worst sin: no drop shadow. The shadow wasn't always below spyro just due to technical limitations. Also: missing the igneous rock pores in idol springs. Those are special volcanic rocks damn it, and they just turned them into NORMAL rocks.
As someone who has only played the game casually, I love that you shared the fact about the damageless lava in Dark Passage when you did you Japanese Spyro run. This allowed me to immediately appreciate the floor placed in that exact spot in Reignited. I know you told your viewers this time too, but it made me happy as soon as the floor was visible. Top 3 reasons why the N64 controller is underrated : 3rd : It's one of the first controllers with an analog stick. 2nd : It can be held in three different ways. 1st : It can be used as a B E E R O P E N E R .
As someone who grew up with the og and fond of the remaster, it does have its flaws. Certain jumps don't work as they did with the og (the town square egg thief took me a long time while I got that jump and glide consistently on og hardware for example), flame charge doesn't work as it should.. However I did note one thing my copy of remaster had, that I never saw before.. My copy, after 120%ing and restarting, had a 30/70 chance to skip Nestor's talk at the start of a new run. I've never seen it happen to any other player, so idk if it was just my game or if I'm just not looking into it hard enough.
Also can we talk about how much the remake ducked up the art design of Spyro 2? Like I genuinely love this remake as a casual player but they made some of the npcs in 2 look so less endearing than the og
As a casual player I really like both the original and the remaster. But I can imagine that the remaster is probably hell if you're a speedrunner and have all that muscle memory and shit :D
I do really love that you did this. I'm going to try to find my original Playstation and Spyro games when I go to my parents' for Christmas. This game is the best I've got, which I think is probably true for many more casual gamers. It's very interesting and cool to see you play it.
I loved SRT! Also, I played the original when I was waaay younger and on Consoles. I forgot all the exploits/mechanics of the originals and I didnt even use the OG controls since playing with either of them wouldnt have mattered, I would have to learn both of them from 0 anyways. Also my memories were foggy so SRT not being 100% faithful wasnt an issue for me. Gotta say the flame not hitting far enough is kinda bullshit especially in the flight levels.
I liked reignited when it came out. However, I had not played original Spyro in years. So when I booted up my old PlayStation and played the original to compare, uuuggh the original is so much better.
I went back to this game a few months ago and the worst part on console is the framerate. I can get used to 30fps it genuinely hurts my eyes at first. I have no clue why it never got a 60fps patch.
1:03:15 in defence of the doors: I like them. They make the buildings feel like actual buildings rather than just blocks dumped on the map. Makes places like Cliff Town feel like it could actually be a town

dont like the cartoony look and rustic wooden details in this game. The original one looks more oriental with more ornamental decoration and mosaic stony or crystal details I hope in the new game they lean more to the insomniac style But i must say the spyro world in crush team rumble looks good

I 100%ed both Spyro 1 and 2, got halfway through Spyro 3 (in terms of overall completion) and legit just couldn't do it anymore lmao. Quit the game completely overnight. All those speedway levels will really suck the soul out of a man, especially in Spyro 3 where they start having multiple objectives.

XDD I love this game from a casual perspective and though I will mention I grew up with the original trilogy I absolutely love Toys for Bob's work on the RT.. They still somehow capture what Spyro was with newer modern day elements which do take a bit of the nostalgia vibe away but you do have to give it to them, or whats left of them sadly.. qnq
The game is good sadly they had to rush the game so you have atrocious collision boxes everywhere. The third game is also completely broken like buzz being too fast and instantly killing you.
This was very cathartic and entertaining, Dayoman. I think the state of video game preservation is terrible and I really care about the medium as an artform, so when people adamantly support cash-in remakes like this, it really baffles and saddens me. I'd rather have another instance of the barebones PS3 ports of the Crash and Spyro trilogies than this.
im a casual player so i dont really care about it not being faithful to the original, i expect it not to be. i just didnt like the lack of new content and also how rushed it felt but compared to Crash trilogy it has really good gamefeel
For what it's worth I adore Reignited but I do understand the frustrations, it's a very mixed bag overall, luckily it being made in Unreal means modders have pretty much already sunk their claws into it so there's bound to be a mod out there that aims to recreate the original game in terms of feel and mechanics but I only know of the graphics overhaul that gives it the ps1 look, not sure if it goes beyond that but I do know it's created from the ground up rather than just ripping the assets from the original games and throwing them on top, you know?
I think my biggest issues with Reignited come down to an overall lack of faithfulness to the original, especially visually. There's so many changes (big and small) made to the gameplay and art direction that feel meaningless or like they were done without any care for the original's design. A good remake (in my opinion) finds a good balance between remaining true to the original game's tone and style, while adding new things that make the game feel more modern and fresh. Unfortunately, this is not something that Reignited does a good job of. A lot of the time, it seems like the changes are for the worse and make no attempt to remain faithful at all. To be fair, some changes are ones I actually like and do feel genuinely meaningful, such as giving the dragons their own individual designs. It's a natural step forward with the modern technology developers have at their disposal and doesn't take away anything in the process. Other changes I don't care for at all. Lots of levels no longer have the same atmosphere, which makes them feel lesser. Beast Makers went from being a grungy, frightening muckland to an almost tropical, brighter place. Lofty Castle's colors were made weirdly washed out for the skybox yet way darker for the actual environment, lacking consistency present in the original version. Sunny Flight ditched the otherworldly greens of the original in favor of a generic blue sky. Toasty for some reason has no stained glass window. And those are just some examples from the first game... don't get me started on how bad Cloud Spires looks in Reignited. A lot of this is subjective, but those seemingly small changes to the way the levels look really add up, especially if you're a huge fan of the original. This isn't even going into things like the changes to character designs and voice direction. Sorry for the long-winded comment, but watching this got me thinking about it.
They did an amazing job on the first game. But the second and third didn't get enough love. They said it was cuz they were rushed and didn't have time. Well it's been how ever long and it looks the same to me. I really wish they went back and fixed the other 2 games. Still functions well. Still is Spyro. But so many small things that just put this trilogy under the original even though the art in this one is amazing. One thing I am annoyed about is the collision. SO many walls you can not touch cuz I guess they let Unreal create the collision instead of creating their own. Which is not hard by the way. I can tell you that from personal experience. Can be time consuming depending on what it is. Dude is complaining about the load times only to realize how much little detail is in this game.
@@Nightcore_Paradise i understand what you mean and the bigger gnorcs in the original game looked more orcish but still the smaller ones looked too cute and had too much of a frog appearance. i just want better accuracy to the original game. it is clear smaller gnorcs had more of a frog appearance. also the smaller gnorcs clearly had army helmets on in artisans. but in the remaster they have beanie hats on instead. they look like orcs going to attend collage
Game looks amazing, love the animations, voices sound really good. The music however, can go fuck itself. Don't like how it sounds at all, especially compared to the original. The tracks are just so... empty. Very entertaining playthrough, thumbnail wasn't lying XD
The original is a beautiful PS1 game. The crazy draw distance with its oil painting LOD effect. It's state of the art and controls like a dream. Reignited looks and feels no better than any PS4 game.It's a cute platformer instead of a mind blow when stood alongside its contemporaries.
Yeah, i guess that's why the Spyro track in Crash Nitro Fueled fit so well, both games have similar aesthetics (HD cartoony game) so much so that they're interchangable now, instead of the more identifiable style they had on the PS1

Srt isnt actually bad until you get to the third game which was obviously rushed asf. All the vehicles and alt characters either control like ass or are buggy/broken except for agent 9 for some reason. The skateboard races *really* suffer from this though because the skateboard controls horrifically AND its buggy as all F.
The thing is I love Spyro Reignited but I also complain about it a shit ton, theres a lot of lag even on the PS4 version especially in the third game I noticed. Year of the dragon's super bonus round level, especially the skateboard one, is so fucking laggy and full of frame rate issues and other glitches that it was almost impossible for me to beat it for a while. I can't imagine what PC port of that part is like, maybe better but I have a feeling its way worse. Still a pretty solid remake and a lot of fun, very beautiful graphics and I really appreciate it, but you are so fucking based for complaining abt its glaring issues too

I feel both spyro and crash made the games worse. crash made jumps need to be pin point accurate and destroyed every vehicle level. spyro the art is appalling in all three

From the perspecitve of a casual player (me) it's great. But I can totally understand being frustrated with it if you're used to speedrunning the original. And even as a casual player who's never attempted speedrunning, I hate the drifty controls in the flight levels in Reignited.
@@qpoqiuqytqrewq I think people that didn't play original will have easier time enjoying it, because a big part of the frustration comes from being used to og controls. You have the same platforming, but a less slick control scheme.
Looking at and hearing SRT physically makes me cringe. I can't even imagine playing it. It's familiar, but completely different at the same time. Not to mention all of the charm from the original is gone. The only good thing about SRT is that new players are introduced to Spyro, and hopefully they'll check out the original and see how much better it is.

The stylistic inconsistencies in reignighted really iritated me. Some levels had literal Instagram filters slapped over the top.

Biggest gripe with reignited is the sound design, for instance how the gems sound when you collect them compared to the originals, it's atrocious.

srt feels heavy imo. it is like windows Vista to me, while spyro the dragon is XP.

I feel both spyro and crash made the games worse. crash made jumps need to be pin point accurate and destroyed every vehicle level. spyro the art is appalling in all three

From the perspecitve of a casual player (me) it's great. But I can totally understand being frustrated with it if you're used to speedrunning the original. And even as a casual player who's never attempted speedrunning, I hate the drifty controls in the flight levels in Reignited.
@@qpoqiuqytqrewq I think people that didn't play original will have easier time enjoying it, because a big part of the frustration comes from being used to og controls. You have the same platforming, but a less slick control scheme.

Lost Fleet is the absolute worst
Looking at and hearing SRT physically makes me cringe. I can't even imagine playing it. It's familiar, but completely different at the same time. Not to mention all of the charm from the original is gone. The only good thing about SRT is that new players are introduced to Spyro, and hopefully they'll check out the original and see how much better it is.
