    This video encourages me to have a go with punch needles I've purchased from thrift stores. They seemed complicated to me, but you have a beautiful way of SIMPLIFYING things... Like the idea of combining rug hooking with punch needle! THANX, Deana!!! x

    I'm new to rug hooking etc... long-time knitter and spinner. I believe I have seen some punch projects worked on monk's cloth (or linen) (talking thick yarn, not embroidery punch needle) where the wrong side is the public side. I've seen beginner rug punch kits where the fabric is glued to the embroidery hoop and, if memory serves me, it is worked so that the working side is the finished/public side--of course it could always be reversed so that you work it so that the 1/8" or 1/4" loops are what show in the final product. I think I've also seen work done by professionals..like rugs etc. where the flat side is the right/public side.
    Thank you for your RUclips videos. I know that this video was meant to be a very quick intro to punch and hooking...so you couldn't cover a lot of ground in it... It is good to know about the punch needle that you sell with the washers. I will keep it in mind!

      Yeah you know it's funny more and more people are using the wrong side of the punch needle rug as the right side because I think a lot of people prefer to see that very very short pile and the sort of directional channel quality that the wrong side has so really there isn't a right wrong anymore! I like that!

    It seems to me that punching might be faster than hooking but is that true?

    • @RibbonCandyHooking
      @RibbonCandyHooking  2 года назад

      It is faster. It can be a little more fiddling in my mind. Inch. You have to keep your technique pretty tight so that your loops stay in... but it can go faster for sure! Hooking has its pluses and minuses and punch also has its pluses in minus's. Speed is one of the pluses!
