    1. Stretch the monks cloth all the way and make sure the hoop is tight
    2. Slack in the yarn or you will pull out stitches or miss knots
    3. Don't pull off the needle too far, the needle should graze the fabric
    4. Push the needle in all the way
    5. Punch in the right direction, turn the needle to the direction you are punching
    6. Use the correct fabric, you have to use fabric with a big enough weave where the needle will fit. Monks cloth or Panama cotton to start. Also the right count of thread for the thickness of yarn.
    7. Right yarn weight for the needle itself. Yarn should slide through the tool, it won't if it's too thick. Yarn that's too thin will fall out easily.

      Point 5. Turn the open end of the needle to the back and the pointed end in the direction you wish the thréad to travel so that the yarn is like a tail ...as my granny said the bunnies tail goes behind and the bunny only makes little hops not like a kangaroo! 😂

    I can't wait for the specific video! I am pretty new to punch needle and cannot find a needle big enough for a rug that I'm making with super bulky yarn... I had my sis pick out the yarn she wanted, and didn't put any rules to it, because I thought that my large punch needle would work. Found out that the yarn is both too thick and too textured! Its a fleecy chenille-like yarn, but was the only one available in the colors that she wanted (it needs to match her bathroom). I ordered more needles, thinking that they would be bigger than my large one, nope. They are actually smaller... Punch needles don't have those handy charts on the yarns that says the size of the needle in milimeters that can be used with the yarn, it just has crochet hooks and knitting needle recommendations. At this point, I would buy my own chart from a trusted fiber artist who does punch needle. So, just an idea.

    • @studioversie
      @studioversie  2 года назад +2

      You are welcome! It sounds like a fun project, but maybe there doesn't excist a needle that fits the super bulky yarn. The chart sounds like a good idea, who knows. It's a complicated subject, but I'll do my best for the video I'll be making.
      Happy Holidays!

Tried different fabrics, different yarns, even different needles and it always seemed to get messed up. Was honestly about to give up and say maybe its just not for me. Watched this video and it turns out I had my fabric too loose this whole time! Fixed it up and gave it another try and its working great! I'm finally on my way to my first finished piece of punch needle! Thanks so much for your help!

      Hello, I've just started punch needle embroidery a short while ago and I've more or less overcome basic hurdles, but when it comes to filling I'm still struggling. Sometimes when it is densely packed, or I need to get very close to another section/colour, my punch needle will poke into an already existing back loop and push it out, therefore I end up ruining that stich. I have to undo many many stitches to go back to that one and start again. Very frustrating. I would love some tuto on that topic, thank you so much,

    I did this one time as a child. A Christmas ornament wreath and I made the messy. I haven't had a chance to try again yet, that was like fourth grade I think and now I'm 48, so I figured I would watch these and try and figure out what I did wrong in fourth grade before I start a second one now. Be less frustrating. I knew I could do it. But I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong so I just made the whole thing messy and, although not at all what you'd categorize as a gorgeous girl scout embroidery ornament, it had it's own shaggy appeal, that let my mother know I made it myself lol. I liked shag carpeting and shag lamps, so shaggy embroidery ornament just went well... 😅I would be the only person who would have done that and been happy about the results... Everyone else thought it was a failure. I was like, It looks shaggy, like a rug I like it ... I know it wasn't the point. I missed the point, but my point is I like what I did anyway lol.
