Love your "Alphabet Soup" design! So amazing to see wool strips go thru' a punch needle! I like "combos" too... Adds interest while hooking, as well as to the final creation. THANX, Deana!!! x

Hi. I'm very late to the party, (and now watching all your videos in reverse-ish/scattered order), but I did finally make it here to subscribe to your channel, so that's something anyway. lol
I adore primitive style [fettuccini noodle size], especially with an Edwardian, Arts&Crafts, PRB/W.Morris, Art Neuveux, Algonquin/Ojibwa NativeAm florals, Tree of Life-type Jacobian flair!
In short, I like the patterned but flowy organic qualities of these styles.
I purchased an Oxford Punch Needle #9 (3/8 inch loop) Regular Point to see if I like punching. I have practiced to get the feel of it through different backings; and found that if I slide thick plastic tubing [clear rubbery fish tank kind] , trimmed to different depths, snugged over the needle/shaft, I can change the pile depth using only this one punch [they're kinda expensive to get a whole set, especially if you're a beginner/seeing if you'll stick with the craft over time].
I'm searching my comfort zone with this tool using different type noodles, while I come up with some designs to try out. Not sure how I'll do, but I'll let you know if I ever finish anything. lol
I want to make some rugs for my floor, but I think I'm more into the pattern designing than the doing. (Had the same problem with quilting, lol)
We'll see how I fare over time completing a rug.
Either way, I've enjoyed the heck out of your videos! They're great! 💚💚💚

I like punching much better than hooking. I've done some punching with #8 strips, but I did have a problem with the strips twisting. I've thought about putting a little screw in "eye" at the end, like the fine needle has, thinking that may help to keep the strips from twisting.

That sounds sensible. You know better than me it doesn't always want to lay tucked in the channel and then it plays up when it lifts out... let me know how it goes it you get a little eyelet on there!

Thank you for showing us the different sizes of wool strips and which needle to use. Very helpful. I really want to use up my wool stash and love to punch more than hook. What is your favorite size strip to use? Also I have the go cutter and was wondering If the plates from the old tattered flag, will work ? Thanx for all your help.

On your monk's cloth is there a coating on the cloth? Lighting? weight of cloth? it looks different vs. where I purchase my cloth. Also, do you have a collection of old pens?

Denice, I'll do a video on backings today that includes monks cloth! No, not old pens. I have LOT of collections though. I collect vintage school operettas, old employee booklets from department stores, celluloid duck rattles, putz Christmas houses, tomato pincushions, and of course certain rugs. Don't get me going on pens!!! ×× look for video later today!
