December 2021 I crashed. Was in ICU for over a week. The VA had me on taking nearly a dozen meds. I'm almost convinced they were trying to bump me off. Switching to a civilian doctor was a smart move on my part. Was put on insulin, metformin, and a couple other meds. Lost weight I didn't need to loose. Blood sugar levels were up and down daily. Then I simply stopped all meds in November of 2022. Went to a very low carb diet. Lots of protein and exercise. Today, my blood sugar levels are stable. No spikes or drops. I now take a high power multi vitamin and 2,000mg. of cinnamon. That's all, and I've never been better. My doctor was amazed. She thought at first I was wrong about this, but the A1C tests proved good. After 20 years of being type 2, I'm no longer dependent upon any meds. Yeah, metformin was not all that great for me. Glad I beat the odds. 😏

@@user-is4lq7lm3f I'm not recommending this as a medical profession, but I sought for a multi-vitamin high in the following vitamins; C, D, E, B6, B12, and Chromium. I found this in Centrum Silver Adults 550+. And don't forget the Cinnamon! Try to find Cinnamon capsules that provides close to 2,000mg equivalent. This is crucial for sugar metabolism!
The above, combined with a strict low sugar and low carbohydrate diet and moderate exercise has resulted in my successfully becoming free of all medications and controlled sugar levels. Please bear in mind that this was successful for my condition. It works for my particular case. It may not for everyone. Remember, I embarked upon this method of treatment with having consulted with my doctor. Unlike the VA, she's not a "pill roller", and is quite open to more natural ways to improve the health of her patients.
I was, in fact, a test case that proved successful. Yes, the supplemental system was the result of my own research, but I proceeded with my doctor's blessings. My goal was to escape the pills the VA was poisoning me with, and especially the insulin injections! I have a tremendous fear of needles!! It took every ounce of determination to inject myself every morning. At 74, and having endured abuse of the VA for two decades, I am fortunate to have a free thinking doctor who supported my own research, and monitored my progress.
In closing, this route I took was successful, but it may not have the same results for others. We're not all the same but it's not impossible to be free from medications to return to normal. I hope this explains better the methods I utilized, and I hope it gives another something to investigate for their improvement.

I was diagnosed diabetic when I went into the hospital with an infected wrist that had gone septic. My A1c was 12, I don't blame them though I had tested in the past and hadn't been diabetic. They put me on Metformin, but after 3 months my A1c returned to a normal range (NOT prediabetic, but low to mid 5's) I started reducing Metforming.
What hasn't been discussed here, The doc told me a needed to ween off of it, like I went to 4 tablet a day going for 1 a day adding 1 a week until I reach 4 a day. I weaned off much the same. July 4th, 2023, about 5 months after being diagnosed and 3 months after being put on Metformin, I took my last pill. FWIW My blood sugar was in the normal range the next 2 - A1c tests.
So talk with your doc, and perhaps gradual reduction is the way to go.

Been off diabetes for over a year. So many positives. I feel so much better it is other people that have a problem with what I eat. Nobody does that in Italy or most Europe and they are way healthier than any of us in the US.

I have a 10 minute workout for lowering sugar levels which I do 1 or 2 x per day, as well as biking for 20-30 minutes per day. Will check glucose levels in 3 months. • @SugarMDs

The homedocter gave me metformine 1000 mgr.
    In 5 weeks i lost 6 kilo's and i was not obese.
I had a lot of problems and became weak.
After that i used Berberine what helped me very good.
Totally i lost 9 kilo's of weight and my hair fell out.
    I have Hashimoto as well.
The diabetes nurse told me to stop using Berberine and now i am just keeping a diet low in carbs and i am doing fine for months now.
