    Thanks again for your videos. It's one thing making your own light display but taking the time to go to the effort of making these videos to teach others and share your knowledge is much appreciated. I was surprised that you power inject after 400 pixels, Is that your rule of thumb? I had it in mind that it should be at least every 200-300 pixels. Running at 30% brightness I suppose the more total LEDs in your over-all display the less need to run at high brightness without lighting the whole street up :)

    • @trevilights
      @trevilights  Год назад

      Hi Kalburt. Thanks for watching my videos. Do not get caught up on power injection. Pretty much all you are doing is keeping a stable voltage throughout a string of pixels. I have not used the Falcon F8 Distro Boards but I do recommend them. You have probably read about cutting the positive wire at some point of the string to prevent issues when connecting to power supplies in parallel. But if you look at the link below, some devices can be connected in parallel (Look at the description for " Parallel/Redundancy Operation is possible"). Just make sure that all the power devices are the same voltages and capacity.

Can I run 600 pixels on channel 1 and 552 on channel 2? or do I have to split them at 576? If I can run it at 600 and 552, what would my settings be in xlights?

    • @trevilights
      @trevilights  2 года назад

      Hey Dave. Thanks for watching. You can divide your pixels as you wish since you can give xlights the absolute channel where each of your strings of pixels start. For example, your 600 pixels string will be from channel 1 to channel 1800 (600 pixels x 3 channels per pixel). And your second string with 552 pixels will start from channel 1801 to channel 3456. So you port 1 should start on channel 1 and your second port from channel 1801 in your controller.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the video. you show 882 for your pixel count, however it will only let me do 682 on 1 port. How would I change that? Also I used a heat gun on low setting and pointed it at the hole I was putting the pixel in for about 5 seconds and that was a huge help

    • @trevilights
      @trevilights  2 года назад

      Hey Bruce, Thanks for watching my videos. Glad to help. Do you have expansion boards? If you do, then this will affect your pixel count per port. If you do not, then chances are that you accidentally switched to that option and now the controller is acting weird. Unfortunately I found out that the only way to recover from this issue is resetting the controller to Factory Setting. This will cause you to lose all the settings, even the network settings. So take note of your setting before doing a factory reset. This will be a good time to do a Firmware Update if you have not done so. Doing a firmware update might prevent this from happening again. To do a factory reset all you have to do is remove the power from the controller, then while pressing and holding down the 'Select' button in the board apply power and hold the button down for 5 sec. Release button. This should reset the board to factory setting. Connect to network and check your port setting. Having to do this sucks but I did not found any other way. Good luck.

    At the end of the video you talk about a larger matrix with 3528 lights, broken into 4 ports of 882 each. For the build, do I run a line from my falcon controller, port 1, to the start of the bottom left and run 882 lights vertically, then cut the wire and run a wire from port 2 and start another run of 882 lights? Then cut the wire and run another run of 882 lights from port 3...etc...
