The first-generation Ford Mustang was manufactured by Ford from March 1964 until 1973. The introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobiles known as the pony cars. The Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of competition.
It was initially introduced on April 17, 1964, as a hardtop and convertible with the fastback version put on sale in August 1964. At the time of its introduction, the Mustang, sharing its platform with the Falcon, was slotted into a compact car segment.
With each revision, the Mustang saw an increase in overall dimensions and in engine power. The 1971 model saw a drastic redesign to its predecessors. After an initial surge, sales were steadily declining, as Ford began working on a new generation Mustang. With the onset of the 1973 oil crisis, Ford was prepared, having already designed the smaller Mustang II for the 1974 model year. This new car had no common components with preceding models.
The Mustang GT version was introduced as the "GT Equipment Package" and included a V8 engine (most often the 225 hp, 168 kW, 228 PS "289"), grille-mounted fog lamps, rocker-panel stripes, and disc brakes. In the interior, the GT option added a different instrument panel that included a speedometer, fuel gauge, temp. gauge, oil pressure gauge and amp meter in five round dials (the gauges were not marked with numbers, however.)[28] A four-barrel carbureted engine was now available with any body style. Additionally, reverse lights were an option added to the car from August 1964 production. The Mustang was originally available as either a hardtop or convertible, but during the car's early design phases a fastback model was strongly considered. For 1965, the Shelby Mustang was born, available only in a newly introduced fastback body version with its swept-back rear glass and distinctive ventilation louvers.[29] In 1965 they built 15,079 Mustangs that featured the GT Equipment Group.[30] For 1966, they built 25,517 GTs.[31] According to Jim Smart production guide, the fastback would have been the most common, followed by the coupe and then the convertible.
Super build. That is one nice 66 Mustang. Love the color choice. Excellent video!
Love your decal water dish!
That Ramada Inn ashtray. Nostalgia on so many different levels.
I'm in love. What a car.
Great-looking Mustang. The Tasca Ford decals really set it off.
I've got to have this kit before they're gone.
I'm holding my breath for a reissue of the Sonny & Cher Mustang kit.
So glad you did the Drag version! Yeah I'm glad they retooled this one!
Beautiful Build Awesome Sir
~you have some of the coolest models going on the internet~maybe Hobby Lobby will get this one soon~nice job as always~thanks for this video~
Looks like it's a nice kit!! 👍👍
I think this kit is a winner!
Love your reviews and builds, but also love how you mock the haters and "perfectionists". You get it they don't. Keep on truckin!
I do razz them pretty hard, glad you can see the fun in it.
😉Sir, I am ecstatic when You BUST the Rivet counters!🤣As You say,""It's" Your model, build it the way You want!" If these "Purists" have such an extensive photo reference library, why not share them with Us less fortune builders?😏That being said, Great video! It is always a pleasure to watch You work a build, and it is nice to see what is in the box before purchase of the kit! Thank You for Your consideration for Us out here in the modeling world! Looking forward to the next build! Later
I use and used solder to make my door handles, window cranks, shifters, hinges for everything. I cut the doors and trunk open and usable. I use safety pins for many things as well. Back when watches were windup i used them for window gears, instrument clusters, engine pulleys. I miss modeling
Cool car! Looks great.
about time someone reviewed this kit--------thanks
Nice kit and I like the extra parts. Great video and review keep up the great work and have a great day!!!
Cool stuff always thanks 😎
Oooh nice car nice kit bud!
Very nice! I cant wait to get one!
I ran into a guy about a month ago here in Rhode Island in Providence and I didn’t know if other people knew but I didn’t know until I was told that Tasca Ford is still in business
Nice job. Apart from the build, you might be ready for a new spray booth.
I have almost the same identical car, but in 1:18 scale metal diecast ✌️🙂
Thank you for the video !
I’m loving this one. Back when Tasca was in East Providence Rhode Island we would ride our bikes and hang out just outside of the garage doors while they tuned the engine. The sound was glorious 😊 so many memories ❤
Very cool Rick!!!! 🙂
Round 2 nailed it
Tasca Ford still has their cars. They sit in a showroom in Warwick Rhode island
I wish that all my decals would go on that easy.
They listened to YOU CHRIS, I remember you a while back telling I think MORBIOUS on the Ford truck to make decals for the letters on the hood!!!! So let's hear it for Chri, HIP HIP HOORAY! See Chris, some of these companies will listen! Another great video, I want this model, for the wheels and tires!!!!!!!!
Great kit, love the tires and decal sheet
Fantastic mate👍
Very nicely done.
Not really a Ford fan but I used to get my older cousin's old Hot Rod magazines in the late 60s, early 70s. The TASCA Ford Mustang was a regular. In the "build your model like you like " department, If I get one, I think I will try the stripes on the hood with the scoop covering them and down the front. They look really nice. A great job as usual Chris. Always appreciate your work.
I like the background music too. Today's 2nd song made me think I was watching an old 70s detective show! 😂
I guess the cat reference is to Bud "the cat" Anderson. Remember him? I do... oh boy, am I ever OLD!
Beautiful build, I really love using that colorshot paint
Absolute perfection as always Chris stay safe and positive keep up the amazing work
Nice build. Exactly how I plan to build mine!
Great looking results. Love those early mustangs. Great kit. Thanks for the review.
Great thing about modeling, its open to your interpretation, as no two models look exactly the same!
Tasca is a Mesopotamian word meaning "small wild horse" or "crazy pony". So a Ford Dealer, named Tasca, sponsored a small wild pony - Mustang - at the drags in 1966. Some of that was not true - Mustang does not refer to a "small" horse, per se. There might be other untrue parts to the initial statement as well, but who cares? It's a scale model - cleverly assembled and artfully finished by Chris, our hpiguy in residence. Thanks again for sharing ! ! ! (and laughing...)
Great looking kit with a ton of parts box fillers
Just order one Thanks.
On my 5$ a week allowance I bought two kits in the early 70s, pretty sure this was one of those 👍
This build and kit has been highly anticipated by yours truly! And this build and presentation is just outstanding, totally dig this! 👏 This kit is excellence, I built mind just like yours, keep them coming!
I used pledge floor wax on my model beautiful job and it does not collect dust thanks for the tip in your show Thanks Bud
thought I made a comment a while ago---but guess it didnt go through---been a fan for a good while---this is first(maybe second) comment---good to see this one back----also glad they did the proper rear pan with the exhaust and backup lights---(the original only had the exhaust ports)---some of the kits had a set of headers that could be connected to the stock exhaust---wish those had been included also the rally pack gauges for the steering column seem to have been left out----but hey I aint complaining---have two and expecting to get more----now I can build my high school ride and all the versions I had planned before my ride met its demise----and as to the gripers----as I always some people will "bitch" (pardon my language) if you hung them with a new rope----
Very sharp '66 Mustang brother! My Brother in Law had a blue '66 Mustang Hardtop when he was younger and I grabbed an AMT'66 Mustang Hardtop kit to replicate his one day!
Got an original, but already ordered this one to compare and build! Round2 is on a roll!
Great job - love the looks of that car.
I follow your videos because you have a very practical style of assembling your kits, I really like how they look, congratulations from Spain
Thank you very much!
I say build it how you want and not worry about getting it right. I am still waiting to finish my Fireball Roberts 1957 Ford Nascar kit, I ended up painting the interior black but I saw online replicas with red interiors. I am not going to split hairs on it to be honest as I think black is more correct than a red interior especially with the included silver cloth insert decal for the seats. I did super detail the kit though which is more than I have ever done on previous kits.
This kit how ever is on my wish list, I picked up the Chevy II Station Wagon curb side kit with plans of buying a 3D printed I6 engine to put under the hood. I dont mind the axle going through the engine, I kind of prefer it as it prevents you from getting too hung up on super detailing the kit.
It looks like a nice kit. I don’t like the front axle and the hole in the engine, but, other than those issues, it looks like a nice kit. Great decal sheet. Excellent work assembling the kit. Nice detail work. Thanks for sharing.
Nice kit and very nice job building it! Love the options AMT builds in. The tire set was very generous imo.
I think I've just found the ideal companion to my '66 GT350H! Again an impressive decal sheet; I particularly like the door handle and window crank decals, those are definitely something I have never seen on any model kit before, and having recently completed the 1966 Galaxie, this looks like another relatively simple build and I always like the idea of different build options.
Sweet body
I have tons of models. I have an original 1967 mustang fastback that was made in 67
I just wish that AMT or Revell or Round2Model or even Airfix would bring out the mk1 Ford Cortina fastback either the or both 2/4 door's as well as this mustang.
Looks great!
What I wouldn't give for a reissue of the MPC Dick Trickle Mustang Super Stocker!
Cool kit, you can tell the retooled parts because of the perimeter style sprue, the old kits just had a single sprue with the parts hanging off and going every which way
If AMT asks your opinion on how to improve this kit please ask them to re instate the funny car chassis to do a funnycar version like they used to do throughout the 60s or even w separate funnycar conversion kit ....I'd buy a case of em
Man you are good at placing decals! I would have spent an hour measuring and plotting how to put those stripes on! You did it like it was second nature!
Wow, thanks!
@@hpiguy Hi Hpiguys workshop i got the 1,350 k.tinga what tamiya colour is for the back
At 1:33 looks like they give a extra chrome bezel for the taillights in case one breaks? Great build.....
Don't have an aneurism, but I googled Bill Lawton Tasca Ford 65 mustang and got several pictures of the original car. Acme also makes a diecast model of that car.
Great build! You make even the very basic kits look great!! I wish AMT would stop with the all molded in chassis parts... It makes it hard on guys who like to detail out everything...It also limits your options on how you want to build.
I agree
Tasca also raced a 64Thunderbolt as well
Really like your work buddy very professional do you ever enter your cars into contest??
I like how the I like how the AMT kits have chrome trees. I just ordered some molotow pens. I usually bleed them into my airbrush gun to do the chrome. These kits save a lot of time compared to Revell.
Don't clear coat the glass. Put it in after the decals are on and the clear is completely dry and after the chrome trim has been painted as you do. Use high gloss lacquer on your chrome. Spray it on the tree. You can drill the axle mounts deeper on the wheel backers instead of clipping the axle in most cases. Ive had to trim the axle housings down at times to make the wheels fit properly rather than rubbing the fender wells. Then you might have to clip the axle. Sometimes you have to make adjustments. The kits are not perfect all the time. Keep up the good work.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Scrape the chrome off off the back side of where you're applying the glue with the exacto. The glue won't stick if you dont remove it.
The class decals are F/S which stands for F Stock (gear shift, F/SA would be automatic), and B/SP, stands for B Sports Production.
This is AWESOME!!!!!!! 🎉👁️😻😻😜💃💃💃💃😜💃🏆👠👠🍔🏝️🍺🍻🍻👍😎😅
Cookies!
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
What glue/plastic weld/super glue would you use for plastic sets like this?
Compared to other brands, I believe these models are marginal. Perhaps in the 60´s and 70´s they were nice, but now they sure are a beginners kit. Or am I wrong?
Hi Chris , great job.!!! By the way ,on camera it looks like you're only inches away from the parts .How far do you paint away from parts ?🇺🇸🚗
I have mine soaking in Dawn and warm water
Love your builds! This one is no exception. Very nice. Quick question, where do you find the Touch N Tone Flat Aluminum Spray Paint? I've looked everywhere for it in East Tennessee and cant find it. Do you recommend an equivalent?
Pretty sure I got mine at a local ACE hardware.
@@hpiguy awesome. Thank you sir!
I wonder why it doesnt have stripes down the hood also?
Does anyone know exactly what kind of car the box art is supposed to portray? I know Tasca was involved with drag racing, but the car on the box looks kind of like an SCCA car (no slicks). Tasca wasn't involved in road racing as far as I know. The only pictures I can find are of an A/FX car, nothing close to what's on the box. Driver Bill Lawton was a drag racer, so the car pictured seems like a not very accurate generic painting. I see some posters here had Tasca Ford connections, so I was hoping someone could shed some light on this. I'd like to build this as the car actually appeared, and this has always had me wondering.
What glue are you using ?
What kind of super glue do you use?
What do you do with all your completed models ?
I can see the can-paint can be up to $100.
I really like what you did with the interior detail! It’s a shame it will be mostly hidden…
I was the first veiwer!
Sorry Amy, Leon somebody beat you by 6 minutes. His 28 minutes ago to your 22 minutes ago. Keep training, keep your eye on the prize, and better luck next time.
Ok
what's with the line through most of my post?????
I have no idea, but I see it too. Must be some glitch.
