It is so much fun to build a model. The excitement on putting it all together and watching the progress. The end is bitter sweet. The model is finished and looking good, but at the same time it's sad because your are finished building it. You then get another to build and do it all over again.
When I was @ 18 I bought a 1975 chevy luv with a LT1 350 out of a Corvette. I think I was putting new rears in it every other month. I loved that truck this is the first time I seen a model for the luv , definitely ordering it to build. Brings back some good memories from here in philly down on Front street Friday night races
I have to get this kit. My first car as a young teenager in the late 80's early 90's was a 1975 Chevy Luv Pickup that I bought from my Grandpa for $100. It was baby shit green with the Isuzu 4 cylinder engine and a four speed manual transmission. Man I loved that truck and had aspirations of putting a small block Chevy in it and doing some custom suspension and body work on it. Oh memories!!!!
Sweet build! Growing up, a neighbor across the street from us had a Chevy LUV longbed that had a V8 swapped in it. Apparently he didn't believe in mufflers. You could hear every time he left and came home!
Love this truck! Sorry. Anyway, there was a guy in my hometown had Luv hugger orange,of course, with one of the wickedest 327s I've ever seen! He was going so fast when he wrecked it,on a flat stretch of MAIN STREET! he snapped a power pole off 5 feet off the ground and drove a 12 inch or so splinter clean through the bed side! Happened 150 yards from my house and sounded like a bomb going off! When we ran up there he was just climbing out of the cab, didn't have a scratch on him! Was the most awesome thing I saw until I worked as a firefighter! I'm gonna try to get one of these!!! Love it as always! That bumper is so big cuz it's a step to get in the camper! Most of those had an actual floor with a bunk down one side. They were actually slide inside, not just a topper. Remember them were popular when I was a kid. They made for the little Ford courier. Awesome color choice! Be safe, and healthy!
Looks absolutely amazing. Such an awesome truck. I remember being a kid and in the bed of the truck with friends on our way to the beach for surfing. As always Thank you very much for sharing. Keep building and remember it's a hobby and it's suppose to be fun. Keep yourselves, family, and friends safe and healthy.
My riding in the bed of a Luv was in Calif. way back in 1980 when friend's Dad took 4 of us kids to see the movie ALIEN. We snuck in of course. Nightmares followed!
Just watching you more it shows how more we take pride in what we build in our models.I love to do it the same way.I'm going to buy one for my collection of model's not built at all.

Absolutely beautiful! Love the color. I had a Mercury Capri(the German made one) back in the 80s in that color, it was called metallic bronze. Yes, heeding your advice and I'm restoring a Matchbox Speed Kings 1974 Ford Capri II, I also learned how to cut my hair with some clippers I purchased off of Amazon(it arrived in 3 days). Waiting for Capri to dry(Hopefully by tomorrow evening I can reassemble it). My hair and paint job on Matchbox are both a success 😊
I tried building an original issued 70s Monogram version of this kit when I was a young teenager. Didn’t have the camper shell included. Had the same V8 option, and same side pipes. Look it up on Google. Monogram Chevy LUV Stepside. This newer issued kit is a factory fleet side model. Back in the 70s in Southern California, there was a company that made Stepside conversions for these LUV pickups. And V8 swaps were popular for them as well. It fit well with the California custom scene of the late 70s to the mid 80s. This is a great build Chris. I may have to try again with this version. Looks satisfactory and pleasant to build. Love the paint color you chose. That is the same color I painted my Project “The Chick” Supra I built a little while back. It’s on your Facebook page if you remembered.
They were the first halfway decent small trucks and mechanically pretty good except they liked to rust. In real life the grills were sometimes painted black but it wasn't factory. They were mostly 4 speed as I recall but automatics were available. Don't recall if they had AC??? They weren't that expensive so if you were in your 20s you could afford one, the girls liked them and they were great to travel cross country. Thanks for the video. Happy memories.
Love so much that you do these your own way and not the way the box says to. Also love the little tips and tricks you throw in during the videos! Great video! Keep up the great work!
Good evening sir.I was surprised to see your going build the 73 luv truck.I still have the 73 luv truck.it's in a. Glass show case.it's a orange truck.one of my builds .from 40 years ago .Chevy luv trucks were nice looking trucks .I hope to collect another one again soon.thanks for the view.
I would go so far as to say this is your finest model to date - and I am so glad that you didn't go for the yellow as on the box art, as I think it may have been too garish. The colour you chose was absolutely perfect and gave it realism...
A fantastic colour scheme, Chris. The only other time I've seen a styrene that shiny and pure white was way back in 1966 on a Jo-han 66 Cadillac deVille kerbside I bought. Beautiful styrene it was too. 👍👍👍
I lived through the mini-truck (and custom van) era. The only thing cooler would have been a "walk-through" conversion between the bed and cab, which looks like an easy mod on this kit. Excellent, as always!
Another great build mate, gladly here in Australia we are not intotal lockdown, and if we were I would still have to go to work, as I am employed as a prison officer. Take care and keep safe.
we took chevy luv chassis and put them under one 1948 and 1953 chevy cabs and beds had to narrow the beds and shorten them cab fit and the body mounts were a perfect fit and we used a 350/350 combo chevy motor and trans.
Wow! What an absolutely awesome build Chris. Enjoyed it, as usual. Love the colors, gave me good ideas for mine! Looking forward to many more of your videos. Thanks again for keeping us all entertained!
ordering 2 of these today!! Love this little truck! Really like your color choice as well. I remember these little trucks were everywhere when I was a teenager. Most had the white camper shell as well. Great build Chris!! As usual...
Another Fantastic build. I love what you did with this one. The music you use is great also. I watch your channel religiously when a new video comes up. Keep up the great work!!
What a great build Chris, loved your energy and excitement in building this awesome little truck. I can so imagine seeing this truck bombing around town as you have it looking so realistic, perfect choice on colors and design. Thanks so much for giving us a great video to watch while shut in.
Luv it! 🤣 brings back memories...my dad had a yellow one in the early 80’s and I think it said Mikado on the side whatever that meant. But I learned to drive stick in that truck, learned to use rubbing compound on that truck and have permanent scars on my forearms from scraping them against the bed tie-downs 😆
The car came out great with the colors that you used. Liked the skylight in the cab too. Wish they had included the canoe and tent from the boxart with the kit, you could build a nice little diorama then.
Great job. I love the color. I bought a black one new in '77. I think that the custom inspiration for this came from an article in a magazine in '78. When I owned my truck I so wanted to customize it like that article! I built one of these from the original release, and if you cut the step bumper down to about 1/3 & paint white it's very close to the one I had on my truck (I think it was factory, but not sure).
Good build!! I was not aware GM/Chevy partnered with Isuzu on vehicles earlier than the Geo models. Looks like a fun car, a monster like this. This thing would be a beast in real life, like the Ford/Mercury Shogun. Keep building!
Cool buddy! Heck, when I first saw this kit, a few days ago on Model Roundup site, I thought it did have a 4 banger in it, didn’t know it had a smallblock in it. I never had any previous issues, never really was interested in it but yours gave me a change of mind to that! Preciate it Chris Ol buddy! ✌🏻
what a great kit,i live in scotland so i have never heard of this vehicle before today, loved the colour that you painted it in,would loved to have seen you paint it yellow but it is your model.i just love watching your videos. will need to see if i can get one soon as it looks awsome.stay safe .
Nice, I've been working on a few Revell/Monogram kits from the 90s. The old decals always seem to fall apart, even after spraying them with Decal Bonder.
Hpiguy, I dont know how you do it ? And that is using paint cans. I just painted the MPC RAT Vega the same color as the box art but used Testors 1630 G.Custom Green metal flake. I shook the can plenty of time, and in between gave the can a bath of hot water. I even bought a pack of Testors color coded premium nozzles for my cans. I used Tamiya grey primer to bring out the spots I missed during prepping, sanded the body down, then primed it with Testors Aluminium Plate before shooting the final color. I tried my damnedest to use light coats initially but still had puddling around the edges and high spots. The mags were the worst. Body eventually came out ok,but I may have to paint the mags a S/G black . I have a small fortune wrapped up in paint cans. I think I am gonna release the gas,and drain them into my airbrush bottles. I dont know what I was doing wrong. I dont want to go through the hassle, and mess "de-canning" paint if I dont have to BUT using airbrush is so much more superior to cans.
It all has to do with temperature and humidity conditions. Painting is done best above 55 degrees and humidity below 60%. I guess I’m lucky having a portable spray booth in my home to spray any time I want with controlled temperatures. You’re doing everything else right. Light coats with some paints. The Rustoleum 2X paints he uses at times you only need one coat. The special nozzles spray out with a lot of paint for better coverage.
Wow. They re-issued an old kit here. But it's in superb shape, so it's pretty awesome to see it out again. Don't think this was re-issued ever after its first issue. So, that would make this the first re-issue of that kit! There were also 3-4 other Luv kits and I wonder if they'll re-issue them too. The rear bumper don't make it street to me tho, I can only picture it being used by a guy with a snowblower/lawnmower repair shop at his home and he go take the client's broken machine with it and after fixing them use it to bring them back to their owners. It's not a negative thing, it's just that I find it odd on a streetmachine, as that part is pretty beautiful as well. Also, is it late pipes, or lake pipes?
Increíble trabajo te felicito, yo llegué a tener tres de diferentes años, hablo en la realidad, al ver tu maqueta del CHEVY LUV, me dio mucha nostalgia
Looks a lot like the Holden touring van thing that Max's wife drives in Mad Max... anyway, great build and finish on this one. Great vid, thanks for sharing.
what I do on My models, I use lil pcs of Land line phone wires for my spark plug wires , looks Really cool when attached to the distributor cap ., just a little FYI. Great stuff tho you do.
You should try out Duplicolor perfect match spray paint. That stuff dries insanely fast and has some cool colors to select from. I really enjoyed the build, and i definitely may buy this kit
I'm glad they reissued this kit. Now I don't have to pay collector prices for an original kit.
That color is smashing. I love metallic oranges that move towards a copper color. Stellar job as usual Chris.
Thanks man!
Great choice on the color, it really pops with the metallic orange and white strips. Keep those builds coming.
Thank you and thanks for watching!

I had a red Chevy Luv, I bought it brand new. It was just a base model and I Luv-ed it.
What motor did it have Earl?
Not sure Ive even heard of this Car and the one I think I'm thinking of was a four cylinder.
It's MKUltra Man.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Earl Harman my dad had one in powder/baby blue. He hated his.
Thanks for keeping the videos flowing through tough times...

Thank you very much!
Cool color choice, and nice touch with the white topper, your story about the truck having been repainted at least once fit the model perfectly.
Cool, thanks!

chevy luvs rock, especially when you re engine it with a small block and a narrowed 9 inch rear
The body looks like a color I like using VHT burnt copper. Great job! I will be getting one of these asap.

Very cool!
I remember the "Mojave Mule" variant styled by Monogram's design guru Tom Daniel, It's way cool to see some of these old kits coming back.
I have heard that there is another version of this that may be issued soon, so that would be cool!
Pretty neat - it has to fly if you are chasing those UFOs. Thanks for the fun build.
The Extraterrestrials fitted it during an extended Abduction experiment.

Very nice color.

Love that fiery orange color!!!! Nice simple kit. Too bad that they don't also give you that canoe that's on the box top.

love your work, especially when it comes to the truck line thanx chris!!

It was made by Isuzu. I think in the US it was sold as the Isuzu PUP after Chevy dropped it.
@@alanwbelcher thanks.
